It might be set by the power profile which is currently active, lots of changes will be revert to set value in the power profile.
Let me know if it helps.

Try to update the MIUI
You can try to download and update MIUI and check if the issue still persists.

Still doest work...
i checked my power profile, i didnt set anything at all. And about using apps,i tried several apps but still it cannot adjust my brightness at all. When i use the apps, i can control the brightness, but when i exit the app without closing it (that is by home button), the brightness will auto adjust to the max brightness.

Auto or manual brightness..that is the question

I have been experimenting with brightness on my sgs and how it relates to battery life. So should I keep the brightness on auto or the lowest?
I have noticed that when my brightness is set on lowest, the phone will sometime turn the brightness up a lot for no reason. I think it should be on auto brightness.
Ideas?
on the notification bar up there if you sweep it left our right it'll adjust the brightness too, just found that or. pretty damned annoying.
my brightness is on it's lowest always, unless I need to see in the sun.

Yeah.. In Froyo they don't have that "feature" (hopefully they don't enable it either).
I keep my light down to minimum too. I've had no probs looking at the screen here, but then again, it is winter and I am an evening person..
I'd say lowest setting is the best, the screen isn't difficult to see even at it's lowest. brightest just makes everything look more vibrant and awesome. you can have a separate brightness setting for the browser too.
i set mine to manual
the auto doesn't work well, i like it bright, and in auto mode, it is not bright enough for me

You are right. If you have your brightness set to Manual, you can adjust brightness by sliding left or right on the notification bar at the top.
It's a problem because you can by accident set it to high and therefore drain your battery fast.
I have setup Tasker to set brightness to 40 once every hour. 40 is about 16% of full brightness.

How Can I Control Contrast & Backlight Programmatically

I need to develop an Android app which should have options to control LED brightness, backlight and contrast. From various documentation on internet, I found ways to control the brightness, but couldn't find anything about backlight and contrast. First of all, in Android devices, isn't brightness and backlight the same? Also, how can I control these two from code? Please let me know your suggestions.
Brightness can be changed by setting the screenBrightness member of the window's LayoutParams (fetched with getAttributes()). It ranges from 0-1, or set to -1 to use the default brightness set by the user in display settings.
However, even at brightness level of 0, the backlight remains on; it's just dim.
I've been looking for a way to turn the backlight off completely, without success. I know it's possible because there is an app called "Screen Backllight OFF" that does it (device must be rooted). I've read various suggestions on using WakeLocks, but I want the device and my app to remain awake and active; all I want to do is temporarily turn off the backlight.
Does anyone know how to turn off the backlight?

Low brightness.. some help?

I just bought a LG G2..and when I turned it on, I tried to increase the brightness but it was at maximum..i looked in settings to see if there's no "battery save" that causes the low brightness..but there isn't
Some help?.. the brightness slide bar is working, but the brightness is too low at maximum ... the auto brightness box is unchecked
I think the display is broken..I am experiencing heavy screen flicker.. halp!

How to limit minimum brightness in auto mode?

Does anyone know if this is possible? At night with auto brightness enabled, my phone is so dark, I have to go adjust the brightness so I can read the screen.
you can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vito.lux&hl=de to set your own auto brightness profile,
there is also a free version of the app

auto brightness issue

Hello,
I've set the phone to auto brightness with brightness set a little above than the lowest level.
But the problem is, the brightness alert slider increases automatically.
At times it reaches more than half. Is it a bug or a hardware issue?
