Hi, I've had my Note II LTE for about 16 months. I found it very unstable on the stock 4.1 android it came with and eventually figured out how to flash it and went with the Slim Bean mod I found here, which has been pretty good. However with the latest build of Slim Bean 4.4.2 build 5, the volume was far too low in calls, so I decided to try the stock 4.4.2 rom [ROM] Official Stock Samsung KitKat 4.4.2 rooted & deknoxed
However although it flashed fine, my wifi now won't turn on on the phone, everything else seems to work, but the loss of wifi is a catastrophe.
Furthermore it seems to have unrooted the phone so I can't use RomManager anymore to flash any other rom.
At the moment I'm stuck, I can't seem to flash any Rom as RomManager won't work, I cant boot into recovery (no option) and the Rooting method I orginally used no longer seems to work with this 4.4.2 official Samsung stock build.
Can anyone help me? Either to fix the wifi, or to get a working rom flashed?
Thank you

well by fixed it, I mean I managed to flash a different working rom to it, not that I managed to get the wifi working with the rom I mentioned above.
HI guys ( devs, users surfers alike),
I have an S4 i337 AT&T, with locked MK2 bootloader, been on Android 4.3 since i bought this phone online, and everything was working perfectly.
I had it SIM unlocked, rooted, SafeStrap-ed, custom ROMs running perfect on t...NO ISSUES!
Ever since I upgraded to Android 4.4.2 with Deadly Venom's Magic KitKat Tool,(installed the 4.4.2 Cutsom ROM, flashed the mldmodules.zip, flashed the superuser 2.00 zip, ODIN'd the AP, BL, CP tar files right away ...everything on any 4.4.2 ROM works perfect, except 1 major THING: ==> NO GPS fix, ever! ON any of the 4.4.2 ROMs...and I tried like 8 so far....
ANybody knows how to fix this issue? I mean, I travel a lot, I need to be able to use Google Maps, Sygic, CoPilot, OSMand+, and none of them get a GPS fix!!!!
I will attach pics one is with HyperDrive RLS15 ROM (Android 4.3) showing full GPS signals, the other is with SHOstock -i v7.0 ROM, no GPS signals at all...
There will be a screenshot of the "About Device" as well ... notice I am on the MLD baseband, since I have the MK2 locked bootloader...
What should I do, folks? Flash a different modem, module? WHICH exactly, is there any fix for the GPS signal on the 4.4.2 ROMs, because without it, being on 4.4.2 is useless... rather go back to Android 4.3 ...
Im sure lots of you guys on the i337 AT&T, rooted, SS'd, with the locked MK2 bootloader have figured out a solution to get a good GPS fix (signal) on the 4.4.2 ROMs ... somebody please send me a flashable zip solution, for us who have this issue.
BTW, I live in the heart of Budapest, Hungary, and not on some remote island, so I MUST HAVE tons of GPS signals coming in and floating around me, that "Location" is NOT the issue here ...as you could very well see from the screenshot where I do get lots of GPS signals when I am on Android 4.3....
THX in advance for any of you folks out there, who can provide us with a viable solution for this tiny, but MAJOR GPS issue on the 4.4.2 ROMs.
I await your kind replies.

I've had the same problem since I first upgraded to KitKat a few months back. I've tried every solution known to no avail. It's frustrating since turn by turn nav has always been a feature I've used a lot.
If anyone has any new ideas please let us know..

So you have the same issue... Turn-by turn NAV is awesome...only if we would get a fix on GPS on our Galaxy S4 i337 ...
FOr how long did you have 4.4.2 on ur phone?
I upgraded to 4.4.2 about 6 months ago. First installed 4.4.3 about 2 months ago and have been running 4.4.4 for a week now. I've installed just about every ROM available for the S4 and did all those fixes and installed GPS apps

4.4.4 ROMs? Can you give me some examples, links to these? I would love to check them out. SO, do you have a working GPS fix in your phone, or no?
lemme know

There are a few ROMs that have been updated to 4.4.4
Up until today I was running which just released an update to that version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2767026
Anyone else have any ideas for this GPS issue??
My GPS never locks on any Rom since 4.3 except for Hyperdrive 4.3/4.4.2.
What is so special in Hyperdrive? I copied Hyperdrive's GPS.conf and it didn't help.
Maybe Hyperdrives dev can tell us which GPS files he has in his ROM to put in our roms?

THX for the links, I will stay on the best ROM there is: SHOstock's SHOstock-i v7.0 i337 XXUGNF1 4.4.2 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468860)
It needed a couple reboots, and GPS works flawlesly ...so turn-by-turn navigation works, be that Google Maps, Sygic, OSMand, etc. ...
FOr those of you that it doesn't work, try flashing an earlier modem ( MK2, or MDL) from RockRatts forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496517)
If this helped you, hit THANKS, folks...not a big deal, ya know? Much appreciated
I'll attach some pix as proof that there is a very good GPS fix/signal
For those having gps problems give this app a try

It's always worked to get my gps going again when broken from flashing roms
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That's problem iv been having for a while to I flashed roms, kernels, module's, Odin back to stock and apps for gps nothing works. The only thing that's working for me is rls 18 rom.
Okay seriously why is there no GPS, I am not on a locked boot loader. And I have no GPS why is there no fix and nothing posted about this. If you ask me this phone is a piece of **** since 4.4
this worked for me thanks
I have an s4 from rogers (Canadian model) and initially had cyanogen mod as my rom but I realized that I was missing nearly 5 GB of storage on my phone. I read that to fix this I had to go back to stock using Odin. I went back to stock 4.2.2 using Odin, but then my WiFi stopped working. I couldn't turn WiFi on or search for networks. I then rooted my phone and installed a rom and my WiFi problem was fixed, but now I cant make calls. Every time I try to call someone my screen goes black and the recipient cannot hear me and I cannot hear them. Also, the sound on my phone does not work. I have flashed multiple roms and still get the same problem. Does anyone know any possible solution. I have looked around and many people have had the same problem, but no solution. Any help would be appreciated.
It's because you flashed an old rom (4.2.2) on a newer bootloader. That doesn't work. Flash the latest rom available for you phone.

I have flashed multiple roms and most of them were the latest ones (4.4.4). This still did not fix the problem. Is this what you mean?

I'm sorry, I gave some wrong advice.
It's probably because you are on the old bootloader but you are using a new modem. That's the cause for the problems on our s4. You have a different s4 and there is a different section for your device.
You have to be in this section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att
They should be able to help you further there.
Hi everyone
i've been out of the loop for ages, and still rocking the ancient 4.3 rooted "root-de-la-vega" version
My questions are thus:
1- will updating to 5.0 OF1 via keys even work? or am i risking a brick/other fudge-up?
2- if the above is not supposed to work, what's the best way to go about this?
3- is it possible to use the wifi hotspot on the new OF1 build after rooting? i'm not a verizon client.
I searched the forums a lot, doesn't seem like anybody stayed on 4.3 for so long he'll have to do 4.3-->5 as well
Any answer is much appreciated. thanks
I can't tell you anything about Kies, sorry.
I unlocked my bootloader on 4.3 / MJ7 using the same binary from the bootloader unlock thread (@donc113's from post #318 or something) . It would probably work for you on your current ROM as well.
I kept the MJ7 firmware ( still have it! )
The M* series (MI9/MJ7/MJE) firmware will not boot the N* (4.4) or O* (5.0) stock ROMs. Similarly you have to use the TWRP -4.3 variant in the custom recovery for the same reasons if you retain M* series booting firmware.
Curiously, however MJ7 bootloader will boot the CM13 custom ROM, as will later bootloaders. I suppose that means the later bootloaders are backwards-compatible to the older DTB (Device Tree) meta data format used in booting 4.3 ROM kernels.
I am a VZW subscriber, so I don't know if there are issues using the CM13 ROM on other carriers.
good luck
PS CM13 has WiFi and USB hotspot/tethering built in. I would be using that ROM right now were it not for some GPS issues - the whole reason I stayed on rooted MJ7 for so long was because of the hot spot bug/"feature".
First of all hello to everyone!
I have quite weird problem:
I have my phone rooted and customized since day one - Installed KitKat, tried some launchers, unlocked UPSM and so on.
It ran flawlessly for nearly 4 years.
Recently, for no particular reason I decided to wipe&refresh it and maybe install some totally custom ROM.
NOW: I can install ROMS like Lineage 14.1, 15.1 or Resurrection Remix 6.0 and they run fine except (yes, You probably guessed it) they mess up baseband and IMEI.
I can still revert to original 4.4.2 stock ROM and both baseband and IMEI work fine so i'm not in any "brick panic"
The point is I still want to move to some custom ROM but can't sort out baseband-modem and IMEI problem.
I tried to flash several different modems to no avail - sometimes (totally randomly) IMEI showed up on first boot after flashing but was gone after reboot.
- On my current 4.4.2 stock, IMEI shows up correctly NO MATTER which modem version I flash (is it weird or normal or what?)
- none of modem versions work on Lineage OS nor RR
- SIM card works flawlessly on all other devices and on my current 4.4.2 ROM so it's not damaged.
Is it matter of proper custom ROM+MODEM combination or something else?
Can anyone help to sort it out?
What more information do You need?
Thanks in advance!
Flash the latest lollipop stock firmware to update your bootloader.
Yeah, meanwhile I did flash lollipop an hour ago and it works fine with IMEI and all.
Latest version I could find for my phone was Lollipop 5.0
How can I tell if bootloader is updated?
Can I Flash sole bootloader independently via Odin?

Yes you can. Go to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/bootloader-baseband-bl-cp-samsung-t3582504
Thank You all for help and pointing to right direction!
Taking care of proper bootloader version was the key step that sorted things out.
Now I'm enjoying superlite bloatware free 8.1 oreo with LineageOS 15.1 on great 4 yrs old device.
And it works super smooth. Way better then original 4.4.2.
Now I'm being tempted to push the limits and try 9.0 Pie with LOS 16...
Whenever flashing a stock ROM with Odin, the stock ROM includes a bootloader and modem file.
