Hi
I am sorry but i am not using this shi**y sony backup app. I never used that before. I don't know how to help u.. Next time u can use Ultimate Backup Pro ( Purchase from playstore) . Its awsom.. And u can simply backup ur contacts via import/export options in phonebook..
I don't know how to solve ur problem here.. I thought its a problem of Z3 Backup and restore app.
eXistenZ using Z3 Backup and restore app. Better remove that and install stock backup and restore app then try. I think it should work..

[Q] Problem with Launcher Pro on Xperia X8

Hello!!
I'm a new user of Android and a couple of months ago I bought the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8.
THE CONTEXT:
I tried to upgrade my phone, rooting it and installing Android 2.3.7 (GingerXperiaV12) following a guide I found in youtube
After doing those steps yesterday, it worked fine.
I put to charge the battery all night, and this morning when I start the phone there was a message error telling about an error in Launcher Pro. I ignore it, and press continue so I don't remember very well what it said exactly (but it wasn't a long text, it pretty much said only that). Well, since the phone worked I didn't pay attention so I used WIFI and tried to install some apps like Skype, Barcode Reader or some Japanese Keyboard Input (like: google japanese input). The problem came when I tried to reboot the phone.
THE PROBLEM:
After pressing the center bottom and selecting "restart", the phone completly freezes when the text "Sony Ericsson" come out in the black screen. I can't access to the OS at all.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM:
I tried waiting several minutes and extract the battery to reboot and try again, but it still freezes when the "Sony Ericsson" come out.
I tried accesing to the xRecovery (which I installed in order to root the phone), pressing several times back botton, but it doesn't work either.
Please can someone give me a help with this? I have read somewhere I might try installing the launcher again. Do you think that is the solution? Is it possible?
Thanks for advance
hello my friend .. i dont know about ur problem but for me launcher pro really sux and i didnt like it at all .. if u want a good launcher then download (Go launcher EX) from market .. and yeah also if u want good roms , i mean the best for x8 u have to use GingerDX or nAa minicm7 2.1.7 , u will find these roms in the dev. section . if u want my opinion about them i prefer nAa cause it is very smooth and perfect dual touch here the link .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19691591
just follow the steps and read everythink and do it at ur own risk . welcome to the x8 forum and have a nice day .

Hello Acudor.
Thanks for the reply and for the recommendation.
Unfortunately until I don't solve this problem, my cellphone won't work to try that.
ok from what i understood from ur post is that u cant even access recovery and cant access the phone either right ? .. well that means the phone is bricked , and dont worry it happened to me 2 times before , well u can rescue ur phone , just go to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257
follow the steps and ur phone will be back for u .. the reason for ur phone to brick was the rom u used my phone bricked when i used gingerxperia too , but now iam using nAa rom and kernel for 2 months now and never encountered a problem . dont worry again about the brick , it happens

Just use PC comapnion from SE and repair you phone....and after that root your phone again and install rom( for rooting and cwm the best tool is x8toolbox)
Ok
Thanks for the replies. Thanks god I could make it works!
Just a couple of notes:
1.- The only way to access to the Xperia x8 was via flashing it.
2.- PC Companion didn't work at all. Even when I could access to the phone via flash, at last PCC gave a error message saying that there weren't any update to install. It seems SE doesn't support this phone yet lol
3.- What worked efectively was Flashtool (second option in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257)
But the ROMs listed in step 2 of that guide (X8 Shakira E15i_2.1.1.A.0.6_generic.ftf, X8_1.6_clear.ftf, X8_2.0.2_China.ftf, SE x8_2.1_rus.ftf) didn't seems to work to me. So instead of those, I searched and put into the "firmware" folder of Flashtool this oficial ROM:
http://www.multiupload.com/VKNI6Q6ET5
that I found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454954
What I'd like to ask now, just to not have the same problem again is, should I go for nAa for my Xperia X8?
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484
It seems difficult breaking bootloader for a noob like me though xDD
You can use GDX without any problem with stock kernel. So, its not mandatory to open bootloader but its recommended if you want to try CM9 based roms.
If you try to open bootloader, please go through the threads on xda and make sure that its safe to open it. Some phones are not safe to open and you may get your phone bricked. Please check the number behind your battery on the phone and make sure from xda if its safe. Also s1tool tells if its safe or not.
Hello!
Well, thanks for your support I could revive my phone!!! And now I could install the nAa ROM!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU!
If it's possible I'd like to ask the last question, I've tried to install from Market an application for writting japanese keyboard: Japanese IME Kaede v3
[http:]//es.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/japanese-ime-kaede-ime-v3_dvn(dot)html
But the Market say "This device is not compatible with this element"
Is it possible? I mean, the official firmware I was using before trying to install this custom ROM allowed me to use it without any problem.
Have you ever got a message like this? Have I got to do something?
Thanks again

Your problem wasn't the launcher it was that you did something wrong while installing it that caused you to brick it. Always remember to factory reset your phone before and after flashing a rom just to be safe and to avoid errors.
GingerXperia V12 is quite old, go for V19 or V21b those are quite alot faster and worked really good for me, they also come with the Sony arc launcher so that's good. You also don't need to unlock your bootloader for those roms.

Desire HD RESTORE APPS & DATA

Hi guys,
I am quite new in flashing ROM's on android devices and I have doubts regarding the following:
If I backup all apps and data installed on the actual ROM, can I restore them after I flash another ROM? Especially if I go from a Sense 3.0 to a Sense 3.5 ROM...
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
I think its ok to restore the apps but not the data. This is what I do (with titanium) and have never noticed a problem.

thanks a lot mushtafa
do you know if Titanium helps to backup/restore contacts and SMS as well?
market search titanium backup
but problem backup android 2.3.x
restore 4.03 ????
failure
If ure trying to back up and restore data, u should try using "mybackup root" in the market. U can back up ur text messages then restore it in any rom( cm7/cm9/sense). Ive been using that since I bought this phone.
Oh and u can backup other stuff with that app as well.

I always restore apps and data and have never had a problem. What you should not do is restore system apps. Everything else is fine
thanks guys for your feedback

Restoring apps after flashing a new rom

Hi.
This is a general question to all rom flashers. How do you restore apps after a clean install? I know you can use TB and other tools but for me they take too long.
I tried creating a cwm flashable zip afyer some research and it flashed fine. But some of my apps now are force closing. Some are working fine.
I dont care about apo data/settings.
I just want to install all my apps in 1 go. Any inputs will be highly appreciated.
I know that TB paid version has this feature but I am sure there should be a way to manually do it as well. Any alternate method?
Thanks in advance!!

Hit thanks if I helped you!!
I use TB Pro and restore first the App and then the Data separately and i think its the best and fastest method to restore Apps after flashing an new Rom.
And it tooks less then 10 minutes and you are done .
A methode whithout TB i dont know but i maybe whit a script ?

Yeah I know about TB paid version. I think I ought to try it.
I used apk_mass installer tool previously but it doesnt work on the 9500.
I am sure there is a manual way to do it, lets hope someone points in the right direction.

I don't like paying for apps, either. But some of them are way worth it. TB Pro is for sure one that falls into the way worth it category for me.
Found this tool. Version 1.5a worked fine.

is there a way to instantly backup and restore data when flashing new rom.?

Hello guys
I am using custom rom whose developer recommends clean update every time and sometimes I just like to flash new roms to try them out.
Is there a way to restore my apps without downloading them from play store every single time? Without bugs ofc.
I am using only 7.1.1 android if it helps

It does not offer flashable zip restoration but,
While in one rom just backup your apps , contacts using super backup.it will create a directory in root and save your apps, message etc.
Just install super backup apk after installing new rom. If you have not wiped entire internal memory you can restore apps, contacts, messages . Search for pro version in onhax , you can try and buy if you are happy with app.
