[Q] OTA after Rooting device - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I root my device now, install xposed module and freeze (not delete) some system apps, will I be able to update over OTA to Lollipop and so on after UNROOT, Disable xposed, unfreeze system apps?

Bump.
Can someone answer it? I think it will help a lot of people.

[Q] avoid system update

How do I avoid the system updates? I do not want a nag screen coming up every 15 seconds 'reminding' me. YES I am rooted, NO I do not want to install a custom rom.
Thanks in advance!!!
You should be able to freeze the updater using Titanium Backup. Or you can rename the apk through Root Explorer or other similar apps.

[Q] OTA Updates on Rooted (with Xposed) S4

For the S4, or basically any Samsung device, how can I install an OTA update if it's rooted with Xposed installed?
I have stock rom and stock recovery. Rooted using CF-Autoroot and installed Xposed so I can get OTA updates. After the OTA update is downloaded, installing it fails before the device is even rebooted.
By the way, before applying the update, I unrooted and uninstalled Xposed (but without rebooting first since I didn't want the OTA update to disappear).
Is there any way to solve this?

Actually I think there is. Since it modifies system files/structures, it must be uninstalled before applying OTA updates. At least that is the case with Nexus OTAs since they perform system checks for any changes before proceeding with the update.

Did you uninstall xposed properly?
It would of edited files before....now that you are not rooted the files are modified and you cant fix unless you re-root , uninstall xposed then unroot again.
Also did you delete any system apps that came with the phone?
You may need a computer to do this, i dont think you can properly uninstall xposed without root.

Well you can try what @kenny1991 said and flash through odin.
Factory reset may fix your problem as well.

How to unroot systemless root mode?

Hello,
My S7 Edge (Exynos) is rooted (CF-Auto-Root) mainly for adaway and modded icons thanks to appresource.apk.
I have discovered that some apps do not work due to root, ex: Molotov TV.
I have tried different methods to unroot:
1/ Thx to SuperSU full unroot option with recovery + boot restoring ==> bootloop
2/ su.img deleted and SuperSU uninstalled then flash stock boot.img+recovery.img ==> bootloop
How to succeed?
Anyway, if I succeed in unrooting, do you think apps like Google Pay, Moloto TV would work after?
Any idea to write on system partition (ofr etc/hosts and appresource.apk) without Rooting?
Any idea is welcome.
thx

How to hide root?

I am trying to install hide root as some apps are refusing to run due to phone being rooted.
Is Magisk the only way to hide root? Cause I have removed magisk previously and now I am trying to install it back. However, can I know what version works with ZE552KL? I am using last official firmware from ASUS on this phone.
I can't seems to find any thread about magisk for this phone. I do not want to flash to latest magisk Appreciate any help on this matter.
Ignore this. I have bigger problem.
