[Q] avoid system update - Droid 2 General

How do I avoid the system updates? I do not want a nag screen coming up every 15 seconds 'reminding' me. YES I am rooted, NO I do not want to install a custom rom.
Thanks in advance!!!

You should be able to freeze the updater using Titanium Backup. Or you can rename the apk through Root Explorer or other similar apps.

[Q] ota elegibility

So my tpt is rooted. can i get the ics update when its released??? Also when i check for updates it searches and returns nothing... not even the up to date message
The upgrade will download and be saved to your tablet. But it will only install if you have all the stock lenovo apps. I froze them with titanium backup, so I will have to thaw them to install the ics.
You should install and use the ota rootkeeper app to save your root. Of course the update won't be rooted, and we probably won't get it rooted because we don't have enough developer support.

i heard there was problems because of busybox
US versions need to install the 086 version of busybox, and the gps.conf file, and any of the missing lenovo apps. Use OTA Rootkeeper to temp unroot before and reroot after the update. I had problems, but it eventually worked for me.
You will lose CWR if you have it.
I had Google Play problems after the update and had to wipe.

[Q] OTA after Rooting device

If I root my device now, install xposed module and freeze (not delete) some system apps, will I be able to update over OTA to Lollipop and so on after UNROOT, Disable xposed, unfreeze system apps?
Bump.
Can someone answer it? I think it will help a lot of people.

Thought I Did Everything Right, But Update Still Fails (err 0x111708)

Hello,
Just started getting an OTA notification a few days ago (like around Jan 15… ?). But I get the err: 0x01117008 every time.
I am rooted, but just stock. No custom ROMs ever. No custom recovery, no TWRP or anything. All previously frozen apps have been unfrozen/defrosted with Titanium Backup. no modifications other than the rooting. Only app that has anything to do with the system is busybox pro. No theming or shell apps.
Tried temp unroot and OTA Survival/Survival Mode in supersu and superuser apps.
Yet when I go to Settings > About Phone >> Status, it says "Rooted" under root status.
I don't want to flash stock. The phone is already stock.
Anyone have any ideas?

Download the kdz and flash it

There must be a way to do it without starting completely over. I've never had to flash to unroot or OTA update.
BTW, root checker basic also says my device is not rooted. I also cant rename system files in Root Explorer (root is needed to do this). The ONLY place where the phone says I'm rooted is under Status in Settings.

Titanium Backup doesn't work

Hello together,
I'm using Titanium Backup for years. This week I bought my first Huawei. I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and rooted it.
The Problem now is when I want to restore my apps in titanium backup it keeps stuck at 0%.
I enabled installation of apps from unknown sources.
I googled my problem and some people said "USB Debugging" must be enabled. When I enable it it turns it off automatically when I change to another app.
Can you help me please?
thanks!
Are you using Magisk SU? It doesn't work well with Titanium Backup.
hi,
no I use SuperSU Free v2.82
SuperSU wants to update but I just get an error every time (SuperSU updated unsucessfully)

Your device is not rooted properly. Try to flash supersu again then update its binary library then try titanium backup. Same happened with me that's how I fixed it

Re-installing bloatware to pass Safety-net?

Hello,
i'm on OOS 3.5.8 with root. A long time ago I deleted all the bloatware on the stock ROM (Like google Chrome, and some other apps i cant remember) through TitaniumBackup (not freezed but uninstall...). Now after switching from SuperSU to Magisk i still can't pass Safety-Net. I think this is because of the deleted stock apps, right....?
Is there a way in re-installing these stock apps? Would it work if I just re-flash the OOS or would i lose all my data? I really dont want to restore the phone to factory. Do you have any tips? Thx!
PS: I also installed new Sony Keyboard as a System app... could this be a problem too?
I reverted changes to my hosts file aswell.
No, it's not a matter of the bloatware, Google just keeps updating safety net and Magisk has to find a new workaround. There is a fix right now with a flashable .zip. https://www.google.de/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/xiaomi-safetynet-fix-t3600431/amp/
