Network cut off by S-view cover? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After observation for certain period, i experience that whenever i make calls using skype, viber or hangouts and close the s-view cover while talking, the call dropped after 30 seconds or a minute (the call didn't cut off as soon as the cover is closed). It both happened in mobile network as well as wifi connection. But it didnt happen if the cover is open ( screen may turn off by itself or keep it on depending on the application). So is it bcoz of the nature of s-view cover or greenify making phone into deep sleep after the cover closed? Or is it better to contact Samsung technical suport team about the cover? Where and how can I ask the Questions?
Is there any way how to work around to overcome this problem?
I have rooted 4.4.2 official rom.
I would be so much thankful to you if you could suggest me a fix.

Nike Slide sensor is magnet sensitive!

I'm not sure if anyone has seen this slightly strange problem with the Nike design.
I was investigating why my Orange UK Nike battery life was poor, and why I was getting some strange call answer behaviour (the phone would only ring once before answering, and spontaneous ring my last number dialled!). I have a belt buckle case with a magnetic clip that I keep my Nike in when at work. I discovered that when I put the nike in the case, it always wakes up from standby, even if it was locked.
I then put the Nike turned off and locked with the slider closed, next to the magnet on the case and found that not only turned on, but also went straight to the grey options screen (that say new email, new sms etc).
It therefore seems that the slide sensor is magnet activated, and therefore everytime I put it in the case it would turn on and stay active, therefore killing the battery. As all the buttons were then active, the call button was also activated in the case (mostly calling my wife on a regular basis!)
Has anyone else seen this?
does it with a samsung D500 mobile as well
i use strong magnets for inspection at work and whenever i am holding it close to my pocket i hear the sound of the slider going up and down (even though it doesnt move in my pocket)
Hi,
I tried it and yes... I have the same behaviour when I hold a magnet near the HTC logo.
Thanks for the replies. I guess people should avoid buying cases with magnetic clips.
neatly solved
i noticed this behaviour on the second day and returned my belt case and got a full refund at t for telecom store. used the phone without protection for 2 months now. today met representative from htc and spoke of this problem. he immediately gave me one of his own leather cases with velcro! great service!
I remember the HTC Wizard also had the same problem as it used magnets for the slideout keyboard as well.

Truecaller incompatibility with S-View flip cover

Hey S4 users, I recently bought the S-View flip cover as I found it to be more practical than the normal flip cover and more protective to the screen than back covers as some people reported that tha Amoled may break easily under normal circumstances, back to the topic im a truecaller user and I found the pop up that comes on top of the screen when receiving calls covering the answering/rejecting sliders while using the s-view, so I cant answer or reject call till the truecaller popup diminishes. I think I didn't catch any call
Any ideas here, other than not using truecaller with s-view

any help?

S4 screen stays off , please help.

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me determine if I have a defective phone or no. Basically what happens is that when I receive a call and I bring my phone to my ear the screen turns off (as it should ) but when I move the phone away from my ear the screen stays off and I have to press the power to bring it back on. Mind you this started happening 2-3 weeks ago, before it was fine bring phone to face/ear screen turns off , move it away from face the screen would turn back on.
Now logically it seems the proximity sensor might be having issues but it works fine when i bring it to my ear so maybe that's not it?
This is quite annoying whenever I'm on a call and have to press numbers, end calls, go back to what i was doing I have to continuously press the power button. I googled these issue and a few people are reporting the same thing. but i didn't see any solutions or answers.
Thanks for any help.
Ive had the same thing happen. Go to Settings > My device > Call Settings. Look to see if the option to "turn off screen during call" is enabled/disabled.
I feel like you have a a custom rom, or maybe just rooted with some cpu clocking going on. whats usually going on is your phone is going into a deep sleep where it's energy is to low to even force itself to wake up.. but it's still alive not dead, just unresponsive (I feel like I'm talking about malnourished human beings). don't let your phone get too weak, set your minimum cpu speed a little higher than what it is now, and make sure it gets more complex carbs.

I have not changed anything on the phone, it's stock and simply have accepted the carrier's OTA updates and that's it.
And also I should have mentioned that I did check the call settings, I have the "turn off screen during call " enabled, before posting here I had that option disabled but then the screen would stay on during a call, which is worse cause then the phone gets hot near your face and don't want a bright light next to me.
Also I did a hard reset and factory wipe and nada, still doing the same thing .
same
I have the exact problem with my s4. I will post any findings.
Got It
For me, it was dust inside the phone in front of the sensor.
How to fix
1) Remove back of phone along with the battery and GSM and SD cards.
2) Remove 4 screws around the back of the speaker. Then pry out ward from the battery compartment and pop out the speaker housing.
3) Remove 5 screws from the rest of the back. Use your thumb nail and start at the bottom and work around the phone to pry appart.
4) Remove 1 screw from the camera and sensor housing. Pry the metal cover off by starting at the top and pry upward.
5) Take the camera out by on snapping the bottom snap plug with a flat head tweaker. Then remove front facing camera.
6) Lastly take out the sensor snap plug and tilt the sensor out. Blow air inside the housing .
7) reassemble.

Keep screen locked when proximity

Hi all,
When my phone is in my pocket and I get a notification or sms, the screen powers up and since I have the simple swipe lock screen, it unlocks and f**s everything up.
I think it should be obvious not to power on the screen when the proximity sensor is blocked.
There are some apps in the Play Store or xposed modules (Gravitybox) that claim to have this or a similar option, but none seem to actually work.
Did anyone else experience this? Does someone have a solution?
only sms and battery notifications should wake your phone.
for sms, switch to Google's sms app.
battery notifications aren't very common in your pocket.
you could also look for an original samsung "flip wallet" cover.
the screen turns on automatically when you open it, and can't turn on when it's closed.
this also completely removes the need for a lockscreen.
I also have a tasker profile I could send you, but for your issue it would only work if you have a horizontal pouch/case.
edit: the reason those apps/modules don't work is because the sensor seems to constantly recalibrate/reset itself.
so if it's triggered a 2nd time in your pocket it will have recalibrated and think it's no longer in your pocket.

Thanks.
I've put on the new Messenger app from Google (apparently they have 2 sms apps now), and disabled the Samsung builtin one. I'll have to see if I get any accidental unlocks in the future.

Note 3 (9005) Flip Cover Triggering No Flip Cover

I have a problem with my Note 3 I wondered if anyone could help with I have been getting lag and all sorts of other issues and have narrowed it down to the phone constant Lu being polled that it has a flip cover installed open/closed constantly
I put Lineageos 14.1 on and found turning off flip screen completely atopa there being flickering and the small flip screen box being displayed but phone lags somewhat presumably due to the polling anyway.
I have cleaned contacts next to.battery and sometimes ohkme will boot with no issues with flip cover polling but lost often not
I can disable flip screen in 14.1 but it won't to.to sleep as it detects the flip screen polling as activity
Any ideas pleaee ?
Can I disable it completely at OS level ?
Or would shorting the connectors or something work ?
I'm not sure how the signal from the case to ohkme works ? Is it a simple high low bit or more complex ?
Many thanks for any help
