I recently updated to CM7 Nightlies and by default it has got ROM Manager installed as a system file. I want to upgrade it to a newer version but can't as it says 'app not installed' when I have already deleted the previous ROM Manager.apk file. HELP PLZ !
Either use Titanium Backup to remove it, or delete the apk from the zip before flashing.

I already uninstalled it through Titanium backup and shows nowhere but still when I try to install the newer version, it says app not installed
Was "remove market link" selected in TB? And have you tried installing from Google? By that, I mean login to your account on the web and install it from there.

I didn't notice about the 'remove market link'. Where should I look for it in TB? Actually I downloaded .apk and then tried to install it on the phone. I've been doing it for ages but had no problems till now.
You'll find it in Preferences. Also, Menu -> ..., Market options allows you to "Repair Market Links"

Ok I see the following options in Preferences: Normal apps (apk), Protected apps (apk), System apps (apk), Market link... all of these are checked ...there are also options under Freezer settings > Remove Market entry (checked)... under Un-installer settings > Remove Market entry (checked) .... btw, the TB version is 4.2.1
That's all right. Try fixing market links. With rom manager installed.

mate that's the point, I can't install ROM Manager ! ...
Then all I can suggest is clearing dalvik cache and try installing from market. Try online install from your pc, Google should push it straight to your phone.

Hey guys i have the n8010 And i wanted to disable some of the stock apps like Google+ Google Games and so on.. but in App Manager it appears only the options Force Stop, Uninstall updates, Clear data/cache. I did disable them on my HTC device but here i cant...
Im running full stock and 4.1.2 Android, Shouldnt I be able to update to a further one or it isnt released yet?
Thanks
you are going to need root to freeze or uninstall the system apps
You have to uninstall the updates first. After that, the "Uninstall Updates" button will show "Disable" and you'll be able to disable them

They can be simply disabled without root as it was said by coyoteelab. But cannot be uninstalled. When they are disabled they dont start.

As coyteelabs said... go to settings - applications - all apps - select the app you want to disable. Then..
1. If necessary, uninstall update first (select uninstall updates)
2. Then click disable (for some apps you need to uninstall updates first before you can disable them).

My god! This has been driving me NUTS! Thank you so much. Never even thought to use Titanium....
Another free option
1.) Install SeLinuxModeChanger from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/development/mod-setenforce-gc2-phones-t3103697
2.) Set permisive in this app.
3.) Install App Quarantine from the Play Store
4.) Under settings in this app-> Filter-> apps-> "Show all apps", enable " Advanced", enable "System services".
5.) Quarantine " Motorola Update Services".
6.) In the SeLinuxModeChanger app set Enforcing and reboot.
7.) Enjoy.
I disabled and stopped the process, but Skype still appeared in Updates. I then went to developer options and set it to Inactive. Is this sufficient?

If you want to permanently uninstall it, then download Link2SD (works faster than Titanium Backup) and uninstall it there. Reboot your device and it should be gone. If the app is still there uninstall it again from the Link2SD app and then reboot again. It should be gone by then.
Give me a thumbs up if I helped.
It says it requires root.

U need root to uninstall it. Otherwise u can only disable it.
How do I root it?
I was checking my battery usage stats and saw that Quickstep was using more battery than it should've. I didn't use the laucnher anyways, so I thought I would uninstall it. I used the adb shell and used "pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.launcher3". I later learned that this app was responsible for home button gestures, something I really use. I know I could factory reset my phone, but is there any way I can get this app back? Whenever I see it in Settings, it says "not installed for this user".

I could do this, but I need the APK file for Quickstep, which I have searched for hours. I am also not willing to root my phone as a solution of possibly retrieving the file directly from the system.

Sideload the OTA on top of what you have installed.
No need to root.

Just sideloaded the OTA via ADB and nothing happened. I looked at Quickstep in my apps and it still says "not installed for this user".

You have to sideload and run the update. You can't just sideload the os update and expect quickstep to appear.

I DID run the update earlier. Absolutely nothing changed, unless I am not understanding the process of running the update.

Not resetting was my main condition, but I guess that is my only option unless someone else has a solution.
Yeah a factory reset might fix this....might...

Now that you have done the OTA, you don't see it as an installed app, just disabled?
If not then FDR?

It shows up in the Apps list, but still says "Not installed for this user". The disable button is greyed out. I think I'll do a reset tonight.

Have you setup multiple users on ur phone?
I did the same - uninstall the quickstep app. But, it kept popping up a 'confirmation box' and the tablet became unusable. Have just reset the android tablet (all data, of course, got wiped out.)
