KitKat on the K1

Hi All
Does anyone know if anyone is working on KitKat for the K1? Or have we come to the end of software support for our old model? As much as I love my K1 its getting harder to get XBMC to work on it . I'm two minds at the moment to stick with my K1 (64gb memory model) or bite the bullet and get a Samsung Tablet.

Bluetooth headset does not work but pairs?

Hi i managed to scav a bluetooth headset from my family to try the mad catz m.o.j.o on skype and with voice controll yet using a samsung BCE-WEP-150 bluetooth headset does not work and neither does using a motorcycle intercom that is bluetooth on the motorcycle one i hear sound on the samsung i get zip nada nothing at all from it.
Any good ideas why this is not working please i really need to get skype going,there'sc a small response on mad catz webpage forum,but it talks [email protected] it states plug a mic in the headphone jack which it does not work from a wired headset,i'm guessing mad catz have been very naughty at a guess and barred 3rd party devices that are bluetooth,that is a complete guess but if not i would love to know why they are not working.

Answer for why bluetooth does not work on m.o.j.o
I have resorted to finding an answer for this and it looks like mad catz used a right [email protected] os version number namely android 4.2. for the m.o.j.o.The problem is reported in a post i copied a piece of here is what it said:
"But even if my phone did have the right kind of radio for Bluetooth 4.0, my current operating system, Android 4.2.2, doesn’t support Bluetooth Smart. Android users won't be able to use Bluetooth 4.0 until they get Android 4.3 (assuming they have the right hardware).*"
So as you can see it's like windows with android one bad version one good version or so it seems the case any way,if you had android 4.3 on the m.o.j.o none of this would have happened.
They need to update to kitkat very quickly,people must be getting sick of a lot of the bugs like hdmi not being 1080p over hdmi for some now,and no bluetooth smart support,what's next oh yeah the games for tegra 4 don't work if they are new one's now,and all because it wants kitkat 4.4 which again the m.o.j.o built specificaly for tegra 4 optimized games is yet to recieve,but the time it is taking mad catz to sort it all out is not fitting with the statement of a spring update to add ouya everywhere either whhich it's technicaly summer now not spring in the uk.
It's getting more and more dissapointing the further into the os features you delve to be honest it's probably pushing people to buy the shield which is a handheld,i mean what's the point of releasing a brand new console in the shadow of the kitkat os when it can run kitkat and then keep us waiting forever and then some?
All the while while reports [email protected] these bugs off they loose customers they need to release kitkat sooner rather than too late imo.
Mad catz should publicly announce the pdate to kitkat instead of hiding away and avoiding any question like when i asked their developer,he stated "i am not allowed to talk about it"

There needs to be a collective bombardment on their twitter and facebook pages giving the faults we find and the disgust that kitkat is needed for games that are coming out in tegrazone,meaning where all being left behind
If people did that they would panic and be forced to give details of a guarenteed deadline,and where they are with the update building process,not only that but they may point out the added features and/or fixes if we state the faults in the current version os for the m.o.j.o.
It needs masses of people to throw a complaint at them on twitter and facebook publicly for everyone to see as it will make them come out of hiding then.I had to do that to find out whymy hdmi didn't work it took 7 days before the main dev called me after threatening to call trading standards for mis-selling the product in advertised statements on both game uk and in their official page,they still both have not changed the ad to reflect the 720p only for some tv's issue either and they know damn well some don't work at 1080p.According to trading law in the uk that's illegal to do from what a guy who studies law has told me.What they should do is tell everyone about it and tell them kitkat is going to fix it and when it is due,thus solving everyone's dilema at once.
It would not only give every owner peace of mind to do that,but would incourage huge sales revenue,because people want a working unit and kitkat otherwise they'll just opt for shield or a different android tv without tegra but octa core and kitkat,or a decnt quad core and kitkat instead.
It defeats the object of having a tegra 4 gaming device you can't play tegra 4 optimized new release games on?
And to make it worse the majority of tegra 3 games aren't backwards compatible with a mad catz m.o.j.o to add insult to more insult.
It seems every other device is getting good games and the mad catz m.oj.o is getting nothing but mad catz m.o.j.o problems .
What would be even more insulting is if they only release a ouya everywhere update without being included into a kitkat os update that's probably the next insulting thing that will happen.
What would be really good would be a website named mad catz m.o.j.o problems in a google search,a site where everyone vents there problems on and kicks mad catz into taking some action to correct it lol.That would scare them into action for sure,it would be one of the most searched criteria for new buyers before buying people offen punch a search with that criteria to see if they should avoid the product or buy it.It would come up in the top searches of mad catz m.o.j.o on google for certain there would be nowhere for them to hide then and nothing to excuse the issues.

I love the M.O.J.O. (obviously) due to what is under the hood and the fact that it is a set top box. I wholeheartedly agree with what you are saying however. Kit Kat needs to be released, Ouya everywhere, and various other patches/fixes. I have faith that these will happen eventually, but the sooner the better. Right now this is the most powerful set top box on the market that runs Android, so it's not like I have an alternative right now. The shield seems to have gotten it right, but I am not in the market for a handheld
BTW, what is going on with HDMI for you? I am using a 48inch Seiki 1080P TV, and I am absolutely getting 1080P with the Mojo.

They had to go with 4.2.2, kitkat wasn't out... it's not there fault.. it was explained from the start (oldest posts here)
They had the foresight to improve the hardware even though the OS wasn't ready... and we'll benefit from that when kitkat comes.
This happens with new bleed edge tech...

Thanks, explains why the retail CTRLR requires BT(2) on the MOJO.
So the dongle is only for the MOJO CTRLR and nothing else... a bit of a shame.
I don't think complaining would help.. but yeah better communication would be good.
I think kitkat would have been here by now if it wasn't for ouya everywhere.
I guess they have a limited android team and if they have to help with ouya everywhere (in return for being first?) then that sucks, but oh well... it will come when it comes :/

The HDMI issue is as i am told by the mad catz team developer is as follows:The 1080p output works on most tv's but some tv's it will display only 720p this is due to the fact that some tv's have issues forcing 1080p on the mad catz m.o.j.o,as it's a communication problem between some tv's and android 4.2.2 over HDMI on the mad catz m.o.j.o.

Already done. Please search next time. It's in the development forums as it should be. Unless you mean android 6.0. That can't happen until we get source code, which should be avaliable soon. I run that rom, and it's fantastic. Typing this reply on it in fact.

I got a download notification for this (and installed) after turning on the shield (it's been off for a month without any accounts logged in after upgrading to initial 5.1) and it isn't listed as beta anywhere.

So far I've only noticed Google Play services likes to crash unexpectedly for no reason whatsoever and couldn't open "search" without it quitting (even during updates). It's fine after its had time to do its thing with updates (after many crashes), not sure what the issue is/was. There's more lag on gamestream now than with older builds, probably going to move off NVidias specific implementation to something like Moonlight or Kainy. Haven't used any emulators yet, hopefully those aren't worse off.
It seems as we're getting pulled the "worse device with updates" crap like every other manufacturer out there.

Nvidia updates of the portable have made it worse each time. I will not buy another product like this from them. They need to stick to graphics cards since seen incompetent with Android devices.

advent tegra note 7 upgrade to 5.1?

hi , i have an advent tegra note 7 tablet ( tegranote-P1640). for some strange reason it wont even ask me to update to the lolipop. it has andriod 4.4.2 on it and it says that the system is up to date. but i see alot of guys saying that they received the 5.1 update. i think the tablet is from uk. i see that it has superu on it and i installed a root checker and it said that it was rooted. i was wondering if i could manually upgrade this to 5.1 and whats the process and where to get the rom files etc? thanks

I just got one of these. It was new in the box and being an Nvidia fan , I simply had to . I have read that Lollipop was really bad on this device . This thing has a better battery than my K1 Tablet and if I can get it up to Lollipop I can run Nvidia games on it and kinda have a shield tablet again . If anyone can help by providing TWRP and the OTA for the Advent Vega Note 7 it would be awesome !

I got this upgraded to 5.1 this evening lol . It was quite an undertaking as it's an old device now and most resources are dated. Big thanks to Root Junky ( if you are reading this ) I am going to play around with this some more , see if I can get it up to 6.0 Linenage or similar . It's a nice little tablet and a nice edition to my Nvidia collection .

Good tablet but held back by 1gb ram. If only it had 2gb ram this thing would still hold its own today

Yep , It's amazing how well built Nvidia devices where . My Shield portable is actually more impressive than my K1 Tablet even though it's not as powerful .

Hey moonhop, all of the original links to RootJunky files seem to be broken - I have an unlocked bootloader and am trying to upgrade to 5.1, but OTA updates dont seem to be working anymore, any chance you could upload the files/provide instructions please? Many thanks.

In such cases, I downloaded the firmware and installed it manually.

Wish I'd never installed 5.1 :-(
Was an ace tablet, not anymore. Have had a go at sorting it then tried factory reset. No luck, takes age to boot then again to open any app. Got hold of another tablet now & just cant be bothered to attempt to root it yet again.
In future will not update ANYTHING until I see on the forums its safe to do so.

Yeah , it's too bad that L runs so poorly on this . Nvidia is probably one of the best companies I've seen for legacy support - I'm suprised they did not resolve the issues like they did with the K1 , and portable . This tablet could be salvaged with a decent rom despite having 1 GB of ram . Today I actually started it up and nothing ran on KitKat . This tablet is easily as good as the Nexus 7 2013 - which despite it's still runs and looks beautiful!

Glad to hear you were able to recover this. I would really like to see a Linenage build for these despite the low ram as the battery is still pretty good and the Tegra chip can still handle some older games. These devices also still have pretty good speakers. Google is still supporting KitKat but the clock is ticking. So many great Nvidia builds that are starting to become obsolete, I hope some developers can revisit some of these.

Talking of needing a decent size sd card, just discovered the 64Gb one in my 'Googlyfied' Amazon Fire 9 a dead'un.... so that'll be x2 I'll need. Wonder if SanDisk will make good on its warranty?
