I had to post. Its 5:21 and I need sleep. I tried updating to amdl on my i337. I never updated the modem when it came out and I was running an odex 4.2.2 google rom. I was unable to root my phone using an odex Google edition from the i9505 which I lokidoki'd. It was 4.3 and I was able to upgrade, but nothing and I mean absolutely nothing will allow a root. I also just updated to mf3 which I didn't mean to do (hit the wrong file in cwm) after doing everything I could with my amdl. I reverted to amdl and tried forever. The binary won't install and it wouldn't before mf3. I looked everywhere. Root methods for both basebands. I tried all of them short of ones that will brick me. Any input would be great. I'm glad to be on 4.3, but I NEED root. I'm not a pro, but I've been doing this stuff long enough to know what I'm doing. If you think of something even moderately complex, I've probably done it. Somebody help...

You're making this way too complicated.
1. System Settings --> About Phone
2. Activate Developer Options by tapping "Build number" several times
3. System Settings --> Developer Options --> Root Access --> Apps and ADB (or Apps only, if you prefer)

It was already enabled. There is nothing about root access in my Dev options. All I get is that superuser cannot update the binary. I've tried motochopper and just installing supersu through cwm. The old version of it gives root access but it never sticks and keeps asking and as soon as it updates it tells me that it can't install a binary on 4.3

Huh. OK, let me get a little more info. First off, you never did the OTA MF3 update, correct? As in, the Loki exploit still works on your device?
Also, when you say, "I tried updating to amdl," and, "I also just updated to mf3," do you mean firmware versions or just modems(basebands)? It seems to me that you mean the latter, because your screenshot is still showing the 4.3 Google Edition firmware.
If this is the case, it sounds like you have not tried a full wipe and re-flash of the rom. Is this true?

Tried a wipe. Tried another rom just like it. Nothing. And yes just the basebands. I'm running AMDL right now on kangabean. It's all good. I like the rom a lot actually. I got Wallet working which was big for me. Just slightly disappointed at the deodex. Would prefer an odex rom. Oh well! Thanks for your help everyone I appreciate it.

Hey guys, just wondering, I am not rooted, I will eventually, but i hear that the update helps a lot in sound and connectivity and that they can reroot the phone, so if I update right now, i will be able to get root in the future? Also, do you guys think that when the Dev edition of the note 3 hit the market, maybe we will be able to install AOSP roms? thanks guys :good:

I do not think you would have to root if not ready. Yes it gives you a bit of an edge like using TB to remove or freeze bloat apps... Rooting it just by doing it changes nothing but adding SU...
I did it to kill some bloat...
Hello, If someone already posted about this I'm a sorry for the duplicate and please just recommend the link to the page.
So starting 5/16(2days ago) in my (notifications at the top) there is an annoying download arrow that says"System update downloaded". I have rooted my phone on 4.2.2 and don't wish to update yet. Is there anyway to get rid of this message?( I have tried swiping it away, but it doesn't work) When clicking on it takes me to :android system update" window with a button restart and install: which I will NOT DO because I am afraid it may brick my phone (is this true and possible?) because its OTA?
Thanks for the help and suggestions in advanced as I am not the most "tech-ie" person on the forum/ a newbie to this kind of stuff.

There are several ways to stop the update notification, the most easiest is to hold the update the take check mark out of automatically update and reboot.
Downside to that is you may have to manual check for other updates, but I have had no problems.

Nice Thank You! That did it
Just a quick side question, I am debating unrooting then going to 4.2.2 kit kat and re-rooting. Is there a faster way to do this? Also does s health work on the rooted kit kat? (I swear i read somewhere there was bugs...)
Thanks again,
Nick

Going backwards will cause issue, unless you are using a ROM. I have no issues using S-Health.
I am fully Stock, de-bloated. I use Xposed Framework with Wanam Xposed.
Heya. I have a rooted verizon note 3. I see i can get the 4.4.4 ota update. So i uninstalled root via SuperSU. I get an error trying to do the ota update. Is there a way to install this update without having to use odin and flashing stock? I dont want to lose all my appz settings etc. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Probably not a good idea to take the update. I'd wait until our trusty devs get ahold of the OTA and do their magic.
Yah, but i get pretty poor 4g for some reason and this update might (is suppose to) fix it. I read a lot of people have unrooted with superSU and installed the OTA update fine but for me it isnt working. Even though i dont have root.

Just install the nk1 modem. That is all you need if you are trying to get better reception.

That might just of been the best error ever, especially if you use root a lot. No way to go back and no known, released root at the moment for that version. Like above me has said, try flashing the NK1 modem using Odin and see if that improves your signal any.
Well, i just have been using the stock rom, rooted with safestrap. Id like to update to 4.4.4 just to have the latest OTA with whatever various fixes it might have. Before i did the update i uninstalled anything from wanam exposed framework wise. Then i did the "remove root" from superSU. I still have the unlocked lock on the note 3 splash screen after reboot and the OTA fails....says error at install screen. I have read other people have done what i have done and the update worked. What im asking is am i overlooking something? Is it really even possible without using odin and reverting to stock even though i have read people have had sucess????

If you want the benefits "fixes" of the latest, would be be smart to Odin stock so you are clean when you take the OTA.

You do realize...that if you take the OTA...you WILL lose root. At this point in time...there is no known way to root 4.4.4 and the latest OTA.

I too have read ambiguous posts of people who have used the 4.4.4 OTA on a towelroot'ed Verizon Note 3s. I've been skeptical that this would work and keep root so thanks for clarifying.
I have a question though. Where should I look to keep track of the latest news about a root technique for a Verizon Note 3? Also, is there a place to contribute to a bounty for someone who can figure this out?
I ask because If you google "samsung note 3 Verizon 4.4.4 towelroot" there are tons of hits, but most of them are from eons ago and while I root my phone, I am not a developer, and so don't know the lay of the land. In the past I've just searched for "root verizon samsung note 3" and crawled through the resulting mound of irrelevant material until eventually I found the answer. Or is the answer simply that every few days I search again to see if anything new pops up?
I realize this is a totally newbie question, but I'm a long-time newbie: I've been rooting my phones for years but I don't have a lot of phones and updates only come out every so often so I never really move up the learning curve of how to do this quickly and easily. I suspect others have the same problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My phone messed up earlier this week and I had to use repair assistant and when I did it updated me to NK1 KitKat 4.4.4 and I lost root and can not get it back plus the reception issue is still terrible.

It likely is possible to update and keep root. But if after updating you screw up a mod, etc. and need to get back to stock you will lose root permanently.

There is no Odin 3.29 out. Just Google Odin 3.09 and download to your desktop if you don't
already have it. Then flash the modem to your phone. Don't unroot.

You need to put your phone in download mode before plugging into pc. Make sure debugging is checked in developer settings.
Thanks…
I forgot the download mode and to check the debug- always in a rush…
Ill check it when I get in- thanks again

Verizon forced me to upgrade before they would troubleshoot my phone.
I was not able to do it OTA, but using the Verizon upgrade tool works.
Now I lost root, & I gained a whole bunch of bloatware. Very frustrating

I read about 4.4.4 and didn't like what they took away from 4.4.2. I won't go to it. If I were you I'd 'towelroot'- (get the simple steps on xda), and 'beanstown 106' has all the firmwares for these phones, put the nc4 on w/ 4.4.2, then install biggins rom v7, then upgrade via dirty flash with 8.0 then immediately w/ 8.3- fast touch response and after about 3-4 days, you'lI be getting twice the battery life… I jumped up to the new v9 but they dont have the theme for it yet. I miss the Kromex blue on black…
So recently I installed the Superman from on my phone and want to use the tap and pay feature for my bank app - Westpac - but it won't let me because I have a custom ROM. Is there a way to trick the app into thinking that it isn't a custom ROM?
PS I had a rooted stock ROM before this and it worked fine on that.
Any help or guidance is much appreciated
Sorry there's no possible way to trick the app, you'd have to go back to stock

I went back to stock and its saying "unable to connect to samsung pay. It is temporarily unavailable" when i try and open the samsung pay app. When i get it on the google play store it says it isnt compatable with my version of the device. How do i fix that?
Samsung Pay (and most other banking apps) won't work if you've tripped Knox. Which you have. So you will never be able to use them on your phone.
