touchwiz lollipop 5.0 - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 General

Hey im posting this video here because I believe this is how touchwiz lollipop will look on our Note 4 for people like me that are just curious. It kind of looks like the camera app and the recents apps menu is a little bit quicker.

[Q] Kit Kat 4.4 UI Overhaul?

Quick Question
Do you think Samsung would provide a major UI overhaul over 4.4 KitKat update due January?
Maybe reduce on the comic styled blocks and chop it down to more mnmlstic style designs and reduce strain on RAM and other features to improve batt life and reduce heat generated on gaming and other functions.
I really want to downgrade from MJ4 to MJ1 but unfortunately, I don't think it will ever be possible. Thus I am looking for bigger and better thing's in the future to ease my pain of these destructive OTA updates.
No.
Bigger and better things: Cm just released sources.
Goodbye tw
Samsung is and will try to not make any major changes to the UI so users become accustomed to and and aren't thrown off by updates and get used to Samsung products. Its ment for the "average" user and generally no anyone on these fourms.

Hopefully they at least update the icons. I'm using Nova with the 4.4 icons enabled and it's so much sleeker.
for my opion TW isn't that bad except for the statusbar and Dropdown menu!! those could be a bit more sexy!!! like sony or something!

You can change icons on tw with unicon on Google play
They won't ever make it look like aosp because they want thier own look. Plus with tizen os which looks just like tw

hahaha true that. Most likely I will just go custom.
I am looking forward to what devs would do for the S Pen features which will be lost if flashing AOSP ROMs.
excited

Developer won't do anything for spen on aosp because it should still work like normal. You just need to look for similar apps on play store to replace whatever function you want.

What I would lose not using Touchwiz UI?

(never used touchwiz before)
Maybe S-Pen menu won't appear?
What about multiple windows on a single screen?
etc.
How deeply touchwiz was integrated in Note 3 case?
If you change your launcher - all TW funcionality: multiwindow, s-pen will work too I recommend google now launcher. Simple and fast

I use Nova now and I'm happy. But my phone is Nexus and I don't loose any phone's functionality with Nova, because Nexus phone doesn't have any.
Thanks for answer.

I have a nexus 5 and note 3. Touchwiz is necessary for all major advertised features such as the multiwindow, spen window, ultra power saving mode etc. So yes without touchwiz you are losing a fundamental part of the phone. however, in my instance I run touchwiz and aosp roms on my note 3. I have duplicated many features that is touchwiz based on a stock android rom. It takes multiple apps and doesn't work exactly the same but does overall the same things. With the note 4 there are many more features in the Spen so you will be taking a bigger hit switching from touchwiz to stock android.
Edit: Also, the stock touchwiz camera is lost and A LOT of its features such as 4k video recording. and it seems the quality on the touchwiz cam is better than google or aosp camera. There are some close alternatives for the camera however.
Well... that pretty much answers my question.
Thanks.
Touchwiz for me then.

You will loose the lag also.
Lose.
Hi,
I used TW for a few days and now switched to Nova.
Really can't find anything that doesn't work compared to TW.
Both sidebars (nav keys and app shortcuts) work, stylus menu works.
Anybody noticed any Note (3 or 4) features that doesn't work with a non stock launcher?
Thanks!!

care to elaborate
The topic is about using a custom launcher on the stock Note 4 ROM.
So all the features you mentioned (mukti window, spen, ultrapower saving etc) works perfectly fine with Nova launcher.

Gotcha. I misunderstood your first post. When you referred to the "touchwiz ui" and how deeply touchwiz was integrated, I assumed you meant if you were to flash an aosp rom instead of a custom launcher :good:

Lollipop 5.0 vs Touchwiz

As a Verizon Galaxy Note 4 owner, I feel it is pretty safe to assume that sometime within the next few months or so we should receive the next evolution of Android OS, Lollipop. Checking out videos of stock 5.0 developer preview, it looks pretty sweet. Nice animations, lock screen notifications, and other various improvements/features.
Seeing how Samsung has skinned just about every inch of their phones with touchwiz, I'm wondering what the community thinks will change with the UI with the upcoming update. Do you think there will be visual updates and additional features, or just purely under-the-hood changes.

Based on this preview, it looks like mainly under the hood stuff as TW still seems to be in full force
Do you mean how much will change from vanilla android lollipop versus Samsung lollipop or do you mean from current Samsung UI versus Samsung lollipop?
Because it does appear to be heavily skinned again, but everyone should have known that already. It also appears quite a bit is changing as far as visuals from current touchwiz.

Thanks, took a look at the video.
A tad disappointed with the overall implementation, but beggers can't be choosers. While I am a fan of the stock UI Google experience, I am also a fan of some touchwiz features. Wish there was a happy medium between Touchwiz and Stock Android
Also look up android l galaxy s5 there was a video previewing tw on android l.

I'm curious about Touchwiz skinned 4.4.4. and Touchwiz skinned 5.x
I know Vanilla Android vs Touchwiz Skinned Android will be vastly different animals... For better or for worse

Well. Looks like the video covers a lot of it. Samsung doesn't visually change much, ever. It is disappointing. Hopefully it's an early look and some more visual improvements will be made.
I agree with what most are saying..... However you are crazy if you think we will have it "in the next few months." I'd be willing to bet you don't have it until late next summer....
Samsung takes forever skinning new versions, then Verizon takes forever injecting their bloat in.. We have a worst case scenario.... Both Verizon and Samsung are slow with updates

We'll have it by late January at the latest.

Title of thread is a little misleading...maybe "What will Touchwiz look like on "Lollipop"?"

The color palette seems to have been improved from the original video to this updated video. Design seems reminiscent of the UI design of the Note 4. More whites and blues, less greens and blacks

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop has features than stock Lollipop?

Sorry if the title is slightly misleading, but when I was watching an overview on what Android Lollipop will look like on the Nexus 6 for example, I really liked the idea of multi accounts and pinning apps.
So far, I've not found any of that. I've found that they don't support those kind of features full stop.
Does anyone have any idea if these features will be implemented into the Note 3? Or am I just being silly and not finding those features? XD
And if there's an app that lets you pin an app (lock it) then could you recommend it to me?

I like touchwiz. U mad?

Hi everybody!
I've searched for an Android 6 ROM with TouchWiz UI, but with no luck.
There is one somewhere?
( I just really dislike CM design. It make my phone feel like a toy. Its notification toolbar / toggle menu sucks. You can acces to notifications OR toggles, not both simultaneously like with touchwiz. )
Any answer greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
bye!

There are various other themes you can try.
Though they will only change the UI aesthetically, not functionally.
Also, it's not CM's design, it's Google's design.
And Samsung modified it by making function the way it does.
If you want Samsung-like toggles, you will have to stick to Touchwiz roms.
Maybe take a look at third post of this thread.
Hi GDReaper.
Thanks for prompt the reply.
Indeed it's Google design, but then is also CM "fault" to keep that ugly design.
I mean:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B85EoZOWwXBGT3NpVTZEbEVsSzA
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B85EoZOWwXBGY2JsVnVrS2Y5MVU
(red is wasted space...)
This is just DUMB.
i9505 is a 5 inch display, we can't have a UI good for 3inch displays....
TouchWiz is way smarter about this (in both senses) and thus productive.
Sadly themes are no useful about this.
In the JDCTeam rom... you mean the Galaxy S6 Marshmallow Theme will also change the notification toolbar UI?
Again, excluding themes, no touchwiz marshmallow roms for i9505?

As I said, themes only change aesthetics, not functionality.
And no, there are no touchwiz marshmallow roms for the S4.
There is Lollirom which is a lollipop touchwiz rom with marshmallow theme. That's the closest you will get.
CM based roms, like Resurrection Remix, AICP etc, offer many customization options which might be able to fill in those blanks.
For instance, you can make those toggles smaller, thus increasing the number of toggles on one page, this also decreases the space between them.
You can also add weather display under the settings icon in the drop-down menu.
Anyway, if you want Samsung-like notification bar on CM roms, you will have to wait for android N. Google seem to have added toggles similar to Samsung's.
Sorry for late reply GDReaper, thanks again for your answer.
Good to know Google will use a similar UI.
It will be a sad waiting... XD
Thanks again.
