Slow (or apparent) data - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, in these days I'm having troubles with my Galaxy s5 data (h+).
In the status bar I can see the H+ signal, it works with google chrome or other apps, but if I try sending a message with whatsapp or telegram, it wait at least 5 or 6 seconds before sending it (no V sign, only the clock.
Today I tried doing a soft reset by recovery but I didn't solved anything.
I don't know what's the problem just because it seems to go well in other apps.
Edit:
I noticed the same problem happens with WiFi, so that's not a 3g data problem but just the phone.
What can I do?

Try a different modem

IDK perhaps the modem for your region is bad. Please be aware it could also be your carrier doesn't play nice with your device, especially if you got an import or something

Ah yes valid point haha im talking [emoji90]
Idk, I get this on my 4g connection but that's just three being three (throttling me for using 20gb plus a month) as for you I don't know, modem is definitely something worth playing around with if yours is bugged

I tried today with a soft reset in recovery + installing the same firmware, same problem...
I don't know what to do!

No one? What if I try installing an older firmware? (different modem)

[Solved] Data Reception with WinMo but not Android

Hey mates,
at the moment i'm in a corner of New Zealand ( ) where i thought that there would be no data reception. I can make only phone calls. But Data is working i know that cause i used it on other places like Auckland. The interesting thing is following:
After some time (tyween ROM) my HD2 started making random restarts, so i decided to reflash my HD2 from the beginning. So if flashed back to the original Stock ROM to make a clean flash for the tytung ROM afterwards. Suddeny i had good 3g Data reception. Then i flashed the tytung ROM and again i had no data reception
So it seems there must be something with Anroid ?!
Any ideas or solutions? Anybody recognised the same
check teh apns, , i always have non working data when i install any android rom, , it seems teh defaults mess with each other. I have to delete all but two (one data one mms) and tweak the mms one to get full data/mms functionality. Ive never yet had an android rom that works out of the box for mms, and most dont work for data either (though some do, , but data only, they NEVER work for mms)
Just checked the APN settings, deleted them and configured them new as shown here under the point internet. But also before i deleted them they were correct.
It is still not working. It would also amaze me if this would help.
Cause as i said before. For example in Auckland or other cities i had no problem.
Also no in Germany. Now i am in a rural area. Never had any problems like this before.
Maybe i should try another Radio Rom??!

unlikely to help.
i came across this
The 2 Degrees network is new to New Zealand. To get national coverage, 2 Degrees have a roaming coverage with Vodafone, which means you use the 2 Degrees mobile towers in the main cities, and then your USB modem (or 2 Degrees phone) roams to Vodafone and uses the Vodafone network if there are no 2 Degrees towers in your area.

[Q] Wifi Issue

Hey guys, i've been having problems getting my wifi to work with my new nexus 4 since I got it.
The phone can find the wifi and connect to it, but the speed is EXTREAMLY slow, or even sometimes it just doesnt work although it shows an excellent signal on the status bar.
Is something wrong with my phone? I have yet to try it on other wifi networks though.
I tried to set the frequecy band to only 2.4GHz but it doesn't help either..
Any suggestions?

Try rebooting the modem/router and wipe the cache on the phone in recovery. That helps sometimes.

Okay, thanks.
I just checked the device with the WiFi at school and it worked great, reached almost 20Mbps, so I think there's no problems with my device, maybe it has something to do with my router or network settings.
I have an Edimax br-6424n router, should I buy a new one?

Do you have a bad signal inside your home? Signal inside a house can never be guaranteed as there are many factors that affect signal strength - especially indoors.
I have an S3 and I get very good signal on that at home it's just something wrong with the S4 but i just don't know what... I get not one bar on it any else where, only when I go into town area

when you connect downtown, do you know what network you are (2G, 3G, LTE)?
It might be that near your home you only have (for example) 2G, but your phone is set to search for 3G only.
So I tried different modems and I flashed stock rom twice and still no luck, any other suggestions please

I take it u can't read or u don't have a very good sense of humor eh?
We might have a very similar issue, I also don't have a solution (yet).
My phone does not connect to 3G, only 2G and LTE.
To check if you are in the same situation:
*#2263#
then play a little with the settings there... (for example try 3G only).
see if you get any positive things out of this.
(as a note: in some of the options I can connect to 3G, BUT I cannot make or receive any calls - internet is working though). You can choose a single option only (try each 2G, 3G, LTE and see what happens). However, I strongly suggest to keep a combination of 2, see the note above).

Yes, its possible. Use Odin 3.0.7 or 3.0.9 and flash DBT (German) or BTU (UK) ROM. After flashing boot it up (but don't set up) and do hard reset either from Menu or use key combos.
.
This is when I'm in town today, full signal
,
And now I'm out of town, what could possibly be the problem, gosh this one is hard to figure, I don't think anything is wrong with the main board
Guess I'm gonna have to change the board since no one has any ideas of my problem

The answer is in your picture of being in town. You are only connecting on EDGE. So my guess would be that you have bad coverage in that area, ie weak signal and no LTE.
Check your providers coverage map.

[Q] Is there a way to change modem other that recovery backup?

Im having an issue with xenon hd since im using it for about a month. At first i thought it was my coverage fault. Then today i confirm it is the rom/modem fault as I've tested this from other area and different sim. The issue im having is data 4g/3g freeze. Well this issue does not happen everyday but when it happened its really annoying. Here are the problem, when im playing online games(vainglory/clash royale) sometimes network lag happen. My 4g/3g is there but no traffic, and after a few minutes its working again. So im gonna try to change my modem with any lollipop based rom's modem. I know i can restore modem from recovery backup. Im just asking if there is an easy way to do this. Thanks.

Redmi 2 2014819 QCN file?

Hi all, I had lost my IMEI information and I managed to fix this using the QCN file for the 2014811 variant but this QCN has no support for Brazilian LTE bands cos my variant is 2014819 so all I get now is H+ internet. Does anyone here have the original qcn file for the brazilian variant so I can re-edit with my IMEI and get 4G back? Thanks in advance.
Are you having signal drops after flash the QCN? I'm having since then, don't know if is hardware or not. I don't want to send to assistance and my warranty is almost over.
Yes

Yes, on TIM the signal dropped but because at home 4G signal is stronger than 3G where I live but on Oi, 3G signal is real strong. I want 4G back and I can't seem to find the original QCN for the Brazilian variant.

Where I live there's only 3G so I don't know about 4G.
What I mean with signal drop is not the strenght and yes the signal itself. Sometimes I have no signal with the message "no sim card detected" than I've to turn on/off airplane mode some times to come back.
I don't have that issue

Oh no I don't get that, my sim card is always detected after I flashed the cqn but since this one is for Indian variants, I get no 4G, and my problem now is finding the cqn for the 2014819 variant, I have no friends with this cell phone so it gets difficult. You should reflash that if you say it used to work better before.

Well I've tried fastboot flashing and still I'm here with that issue without a fix, so it doesn't always override some settings. Try the IMEI fix stuff on the Miui forum.

Have you tried sim cards of other carriers? Do they work or still the same? You should send in to assistance before your warranty runs out. Mine has expired, that's why I don't send mine in.
