I am using a Moto G to take pictures and have thumbnails which have the complete picture but when viewed on the lap top they omit part of the picture. How can I capture the full picture? Thank you
You posted this in the wrong subforum but anyway the moto g takes photos in a 4:3 aspect ratio which means they will more or less look like a square...

Thumbnails show part of picture in laptop? Use default moto g camera app and try changing aspect ratio to wide screen 16:9 or 4:3.
Also set your laptop's resolution to support higher pixels.
Clean and rebuild moto g thumbnail cache. You can use ccleaner apk from play store.

So I loaded a ton of high res photos straight from my DSLR forming a digital portfolio on my Xoom, but one thing is really irking me. When you first launch the gallery, the image is rendered somewhat fuzzy until you pinch and zoom in - then it becomes nice and sharp. Has anyone found a way around this? Should I be resizing to a ceettain size before transferring to the Xoom?
It's just a tad annoying that when swiping through photos in a gallery, they're all previewed almost in a low res fashion. Id hate to have to zoom in just to show how a photo is supposed to look.

Android Gallery sucks ... period.
Google does not spend time for that.
Go to the Market and get "QuickPic".
That's better.

i resize to 1600x1200 to save storage mostly but the images show well in both stock gallery and QuickPics. Higher Res takes a second to resolve to full detail but it should do so without the pinch and zoom trick. QuickPics saves the full screen view once you view the image the first time so it is faster on both viewing and slide shows.

Hi all,
I'm developing a full resolution image viewer "Gallery illusion HD" that supports big "jpgs" and displays pictures with no quality loss. Now is in public beta and can be download free on the Android Market. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mobileillusion
You should add basic viewer functions as scrolling by finger, rotate and so on.

Hi moriakoj,
thanks for the feedback. I will add those features in next versions.
The application is intended, above all, to see the details of high-resolution images (> 10 MP). Most viewers downscale the image in such images.
Regards,
Mobileillusion.
What should i set the photo size in the camera app? I was using the 13mp setting but the aspect ratio was small with black bars.
9.6mp is better as i can shoot photos in full screen. Am i losing any quality if i continue using the 9.6mp instead of 13mp?
The only thing you lose is a bit of zoomability. Nothing else.

Yes you are but if you don't intend on printing images in 4:3 format (standard) then don't worry about it.
Most people now days just 'view' their images on a screen or their own device. So in that case 16:9, wide screen (9.6mp) is the better choice.
FYI; I use 16:9

Personal preferences I guess. I am using 13mp
I did a couple of sample shots before. If you're not zooming in, you won't be able to tell. I do a lot of zooming on my pictures though, at maximum zoom, there is significant difference between the two. So I'm keeping it at 13 mp.
The camera is set at the default setting of 10mp. From reading on the forum I see people use this and don't up the mp to 13, is there a reason or an advantage to using it at a lower mega pixel count?
The shape of the photo is Instagram like with the 13mp. So people use the 10 because the picture measurements are correct.

That's an interesting upside. One of the more common benefits would be for storage purposes. It is a smaller file thanks to using a smaller resolution. That being noted, the obvious downside is that it is a smaller photo.
I would say that smaller resolution doesn't matter, as the megapixel myth still plagues people to this day. However, from what I have read, the 10MP on our G2 is... decent. But apparently the 13MP is where the magic happens.
The only difference is the 16:9 vs 4:3 aspect ratio. The 13mp setting takes advantage of the entire sensor, whereas the 10mp setting crops the top/bottom of the sensor. IMO, it's best to just shoot 13 with the wider field of view, and if needed you can crop after, to whatever aspect ratio you'd like.
I use 13mp. It's 4:3 and is closest to the 3:2 I'm used to and find more pleasing. Not to mention you get more vertical fov.

I basically was rushing to answer. But I meant exactly what you posted. The image ratio. Sorry for not being clear.

I implore you to go to www.wallbase.cc to download some of the wallpapers there. You can search random at the resolution of your liking. Here is a direct link to random wallpapers @ 2560 X 1600 which compliments this tablet perfectly:
http://wallbase.cc/random?section=w...x1600&thpp=32&purity=100&board=21&aspect=0.00
Do not save the thumbnail. Click the one you want, it will open the big picture in another tab, save that, then go view that in your gallery.
Prepare......your eyes will melt
Just trust me. I've been using wallbase for years on my desktop but nothing compares to a high res photo on the Galaxy Note 2014. Simply amazing!
They have some nice pictures. It amazes me how many people apparently have a picture of some scantily clad lady as their background, almost half of the pictures on random mode are of that variety. I never understood why you would want that on your tablet always, for everyone to see, when you hand the tablet to your mom, your co-worker...
Anyway, what I actually wanted to ask: Wouldn't you want the wallpaper to be wider than the screen resolution? Otherwise it would have to zoom into the picture to be able to scroll the image when you switch homescreen pages. Or did you disable that?

Actually not........
2560 x 1600 is the best for viewing but if you want it for wallpaper the smallest resolution should be 2560 or as close as possible.
Interfacelift.com has photos up to 3840 x 2400, they have a dropdown box that you pick the size that you want from.

I see...my wallpaper is stationary so that resolution works for me that's how the note 2014 came out of the box.
Thanks for the link will definitely check that out. Always good to have more options!
Thanks for sharing bro, This makes the tablet even better . This is really appreciated
i don't know if this is compatible with the new Note 10.1 but Samsung Display has released an app that has some awesome eye-popping wallpapers included in it

Thanks for sharing.
I stocked on some 1600p wallpapers just to have them resized, but then found this app, its a "fake" live wallpaper, allows to set a pic as wallp w/o cropping or resizing it one bit and big thankz to the guy who posted 2400p wallpaper link!
edit: teh app also allows to set a different/separate pics for portrait and landscape.
I have a dumb question I don't think the stock camera has this option but is it possible to save pictures taken from the stock camera app in a smaller size?
I mean it's great and all that I have this 16mp shooter but if you're just snapping a quick reference pic to share with friends sometimes 5mp or less will do.
Cameras used to come with some selection of small medium and large or quality settings which is effectively a size reduction I don't see this option anymore.
It's not a huge deal but it does mean that I get into the habit of dropping the size before I send things with another image editor.

Well, the stock cam won't let you choose resolution as far as I know, but if you really wish to save a couple of MBs you can take photos in a different aspect ratio (16:9 or 1:1 which are cropped versions of the main 4:3 ratio).
Although, I must admit the solution posted above (Google cam) will definitely serve you better. Cheers!
