Networking
It takes about one minute go to into an AP and change the required setting. Most computers will switch settings automatically.
I've been running AES for awhile now since I heard about something similar to this several months ago. Works fine.

Cracking a WEP encryption requires a WiFi radio that supports packet injection to function. This is not a standard WiFi radio feature and only comes on certain devices. Unless I've been doing it wrong all these years, you need a special device to do it even with most laptops. The chances that ANY phone manufacturer made a phone with the proper chipset is slim to none I would imagine.
I'm sure you're just doing penetration testing on your own network to test your security because suggesting anything else would be highly illegal...
Have you checked this out?

I am looking to use some modified Nook Colors for a business purpose. I would like for the wireless capabilities to be completely disabled as they will be used for mostly survey purposes and I don't want people getting on the internet and such. I will be using CM7 as this is quite polished at this point. Is there an easy way to completely disable the ability to turn on the wifi and bluetooth radios? I was hoping for something as easy as deleting a driver file or something else that the device needs to turn these things on.
Thanks.
I use mine as a point-of-sales system, and I sometimes want all wireless function off, so the battery will last a whole business day, and I use a widget that you can download for free. Any child proofing app would work. You can limit the use of the device extremely easily.

You can try removing /system/etc/wifi...
OK, so I have to use my fingerprint to unlock my phone. For me this gets annoying when I am in my car or extremely busy working and my screen times out. this wouldn't be so much of a problem if the note 4 had lollipop but we dont at the moment.
I solved this using the following:
Root
Xposed
and a module called NO LOCK HOME
You can set it to any bluetooth or wi-fi connection, or to a specific one. I set mine to my car but changed it to any bluetooth because of my moto 360 and hands free are the only other devices that connect over bluetooth. Plus if you go out of range it auto locks or when the the screen is off depending on your settings.
you can download NO LOCK HOME straight from xposed installer
You can do this via Tasker as well.

Hi All,
I am trying to automate enabling hotspot when connected to my car's bluetooth. I tried with both Tasker and Automate applications and from what I can tell, it cannot be done without root access. I have not seen a successful root for the S8 yet (could be overlooking) but is there any way to actually achieve what I am looking for?
Never heard of automated Bluetooth - hotspot setup before

Not with BT per say, but I used to achieve auto hotspots in my car on my OP3 with a little NFC tag.
Was stuck on my car holder. Worked a treat.
It can be done. In fact, I did it for my car. So yes, tasker is a way to go. So in tasker you do:
Trigger: State->BT connected->Name CAR KIT.
Then single Task WiFi Tether ON.
No root is needed to do that and it works.
I use 'Hot Spot Starter' Creates the wifi hotspot all the time automatically when connected to the car via Bluetooth
This works for you guys w/ the S8??

This does not work on my S8 (T-Mobile). It says it is turing on the hotspot and will actually turn of my WiFi, but the hotspot does not turn on.
I also tried HotSpot Starter and I get the same results. It turns off my WiFi, but does not turn the HotSpot on.
Anyone have a confirmed way of doing this on an S8?
This does not work w/ the S8. There is another plugin which works. The dev of tasker is no help for us S8 people saying it is our carrier which it clearly is not since it doesn't work on sprint either.

just use bixby ... create a quick command with all u have to toggle.
i use the word "start Driving" to turn on mobile hotspot and turn off wifi , then turn on bluetooth.
"finish drive" does the reverse
the native tasker hotspot toggle doesn't work for most of us w/ s8s

Probably the trick is to install a SM-G950U1 firmware instead of native carrier's SM-G950U firmware. I got my U1 firmware over here https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s8/how-to/eng-boot-root-t3608353
Here is solution for you, it works on galaxy s8, note8 and android 8.0 oreo
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.carspot.wifi
Was struggling with this issue for a while, tasker tricks didn't help and autoinput looked not very reliable/convenient.
Solution I found -
1. just install GoodLock from Galaxy Store: http://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.android.goodlock
2. In the application main menu Enable/Install "Routines" component
3. Configure your routine - select bluetooth connection in Condition and "Turn Hotspot On" in action section.
As the app was developed by Samsung, it has access to enable hotspot by default. Works on my galaxy S8+ with latest android Pie update.
Whoops, wrong thread! Sorry
Is anyone having any luck with Smart Places working? I don't think I've ever had reliable performance from it?
Would love it to work at my home and office.
Failing that, can I set up trusted Wi-Fi instead? Through a 3rd party app perhaps (but not as secure so not preferred option)
Reliable is it not.
Trusted WiFi does not exist in this context.
But trusted Bluetooth.
