Bluetooth message read out? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason my chrysler reads me my text messages if im connected to it in the car. Is there any way to disable this on my phone? there is absolutely no option to disable it in the vehicle.

Only way to disable it is through the vehicle menu system, as far as I can tell. I have a Ford Mytouch Sync system where there is a menu option to disable it. There is probably some good support forums for Chrysler where they may have a solution.

I guess I just assumed this, but I haven't seen it around. Are there head units that have bluetooth MAP support? Looking at product descriptions, I'm only seeing standard hands free and audio support, but no text message notifications or read/write.

Eonon Android 5.1.1 bluetooth issues & canbus issues

hi guys
new to the forum, hopefully someone will be able to help me
my unit has stock MTCC-KLD6-V2.97 Aug 02 2016 with a RK3188 and 1024x600 screen
Firstly the Bluetooth is not working, quite a lot of apps hang at the part where it try's to turn the BT on, especially one app i really need to work.
I honestly don't know what model of BT chip is installed in the head unit, apparently its BT 4.0 as listed on there website
I have been into the factory menu and changed the BT from WQ_BC6 to WQ_BC6B (as suggested somewhere in this forum) but it has made no change and the BT is still hanging at powering on.
Eonon have told me that the Bluetooth only work with devices that don't require a pin and the radar detector device i need to connect does not require a pin but still it does not work.
Not quite sure if eonon has set the setting wrong and i need to change it or i need to goto a custom rom or I need to pull the unit apart to find out.
Found someone else having trouble getting there ALPconnect app to work aswell on these units, in know ALPconnect wont work on older unit like the 4.4.4 as they only had BT 2.0 and the ALP BT only supports 4.0, but this android unit has 4.0 so it should not be a problem but it is.
sterod said:
The app I use, ALPConnect, does the exact same thing. Fortunately, the hardware on mine includes a hardwired speaker and GPS setup that work standalone. The benefit of the app was to get a nice big visual notification of a trap, as it would come into focus, duck the audio and play an alarm. It would also report the frequency of the radar and the type of laser hitting me. While I can get by without all that, I can't have the music blaring like I usually do, as the little speaker is only so loud and the Joying head unit doesn't have Mute Input wire to duck the audio.
While this is going slightly off topic, you may want to look into the AL Priority, it can interface with your V1 too and you will also gain laser protection. This thing has saved my a** countless times and paid for itself already many times over.

Secondly the control menu in the android head unit for accessing the cars buttons via cambus does not work, all steering wheels button seem to communicate back and work, but i cannot set my clock on my mazda 3.
Also have noticed that the radio wont mute when notification occur or when using other apps like google maps, no way to set the different volumes in this stock rom. Have played around with the factory menu volumes but it makes no diffidence.
Is it viable and worth changing to a different ROM, like Malaysk? or should i message eonon?
any help would be much appreciated
thanks

I'm having exactly the same issue with a Pumpkin MTCC-KLD6-V2.91. (RK3188/1024x600)
The device I want to pair with appears in Bluetooth settings (with a phone icon?) but connecting to it does nothing. It's just a Bluetooth SPP device, like so many other devices.
Malaysk's ROM (from 7/25) doesn't change anything here.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Waiting on a reply from Eonon, but initial news is not good.
Some serious BT issues in this model the MTCC
Anyone know if any Malaysk's Rom's avalable for the MTCC-KLD6-V2.91 that have no BT issues
I'm having the same issue, though my unit (MTCC KLD6) does not show any devices at all to pair with, and the car unit does not appear on my phone.
I'm wondering - if I take a usb BT dongle and attach it to the usb cable, would that work?
I think it might be another issue with your BT, it should connect to your phone at very least.
Have you had a look in your factory menu to see if the MCU has the Bluetooth option set?
Password for me was 126
Unfortunately the unit does not support external USB Bluetooth and probably never will, unless the manufacturer MTC/Klyde adds the required drivers to the unit or a Awesome developer by some stroke of luck here adds it to the unit. I doubt to see the feature in this unit

Thanks for the reply. Yes, i checked to make sure Bluetooth was enabled in the system settings. I've tried a few of them (change setting, reboot, attempt pairing), i guess the next step is to try them all one by one to rule that out. I've sent an email to the seller to see if they have any ideas.
The vendor told me to connect the Key-1 & Key-2 wires from the canbus to the car, not sure why they'd think that would solve BT issues?
Did this fix the issue? I'm unable to see any Bluetooth devices and other Bluetooth devices don't see it.
Sorry to dig up an old thread
I have the Eonon GA2180a (android 10) - and having similar issues to here
I want to pair a bluetooth remote (read, steering wheel controls) to the head unit, but the bluetooth search just shows blank! I can connect to it using my phone but it appears some things are hidden to connect to with these android units? Looks like the bluetooth 'app' is the only way to connect too, theres nothing in the android settings to access a bluetooth menu or anything.
Did anyone get anywhere with this ?
cheers

Looking for infos on Joying Head Unit for my crazy project :)

Hi All,
I'm about to attempt to upgrade my Harley RoadGlide's radio.
REEAALLLY like the fact that it will be a all-in-one solution (GPS/Radio etc)
Here is the plan:
Joying 8.8" 4gb /32gb Android 8 unit
Adaptor for 1 DIN radio ( Harley factory is a off the wall size more like a 1-1/2 DIN )
Module to retain handlebar controls (Works like a steering one)
Marine amp (with the remote power on a manual switch so I can shut the speakers off)
Bluetooth transmitter to send music to headset if needed
Before anybody points out the obvious, yes I know the unit is not marine grade..
This leads me the my first question:
How much heat does the display generate?
I was thinking on taking the bezel off, wrapping the whole back in vinyl up and over the edge of the glass and then putting the bezel back on. This would seal the display part since there is not reset/mic/pwr holes in the glass..
Mating the display with the body will be thru a custom device with seals to prevent water getting in at the connectors.
As for the "main" body it is pretty much protected being in the fairing. I will need a heatsink/fan but I think it will be ok.
Now on the operational question:
Can a bluetooth headset be connected directly to the unit? (For listening to music)
Any tips/advice?
Anybody ever done this?
Thanks !
Ok.. just ordered the 8.8" single din 4gb model.
Was 25% off. Black Friday sale. What can go wrong ??
Good thing about that model is that it is solid glass.. no reset/mic holes.. should make it easier to weatherproof.
The fun will begin when the unit gets here.
Lots of config/testing to do before I shoehorn that puppy in the bike.
I'll post pics if people are interested.
Been testing a couple of GPS apps on my tablet right now ahead of the integration and so far Sygic and Osmand are the best I found. Following a preplanned route is a must( ie to not deviate from the plan) , so if anybody has insight please point me in the right direction ?
Patiently awaiting the arrival of the unit...
The beast is here!!
Just received my unit ?
Got to say it is very well packaged
Will setup and start the testing soon.
Stoked!!!!!
Update/ Questions
Hi All,
Well.. the testing is going well.
So far i am able to get all my music audio to the Bluetooth headset by using a transmitter connected to the RCA output.
I had to use an external USB power for the dongle because the transmitter is "recognized" as a USB keyboard by Joying
I am using the soft button on the unit to turn the amp on/off when I want to use the headset.
I am able to use ZLink as well to connect the phone to the unit.
To have the headset capability for phone, I need to have the headset paired with the headset first.
Then I connect the phone to the unit using ZLink/Android Auto on 1 USB input
I can use the radio's display to control the phone and make calls.
All audio/mic is done by the headset. Yeah!
Only 1 problem.. The Joying keeps on wanting to connect Bluetooth to the phone.. Pops a request every so often..
Any way of turning this off? Only happens when Zlink is active...
If I connect the radio to the phone, it kicks the headset off...
Any way to disable Bluetooth entirely on the unit?
Unit is now rooted and I have installed JET.
Waiting for my handlebar controls converter in order to test "steering" functions.
Cheers!

Can't you do that from the settings? Simply switch off Bluetooth?
Or is that when Joying keeps nagging to switch on Bluetooth? ("wanting to connect" can mean to connect because BT is active, or first wanting to switch it on and then connect)
I tried..
The Zlink app automatically turns bluetooth on I believe.
The bluetooth is off in my Joying settings.
It only happens when the Zlink window is "active"
So when I first connect I press cancel on my phone when the request comes in.
All good until I minimize the windows then re-activate it. Then another request comes in from the Joying unit...
I tried to disable the bluetooth in the app settings and Zlink refuses to open.
There is no "access to bluetooth" in the Zlink app settings..
Really more of an annoyance then anything else as I can just cancel the request...
Would really be nice to have some decent bluetooth settings on the unit to be able to connect any devices or change settings.
Or have some ZLink settings to not start bluetooth on demand since it's already been taken care of by the headset...
Thanks for the suggestion
Cheers,
Problem solved! Android Auto using headset instead of Radio for audio
Hi have solved the problem of Bluetooth wanting to connect all the time.
Solution: First time the popup comes in on the phone when connecting USB to the radio (I used Headunit Reloaded but ZLink should be the same), accept and enter proper password (0000)
Once connected, on the phone Bluetooth settings change Joying Radio to No Phone, No Media.
The next time it will not ask to connect and won't kick out the other Bluetooth (Headset)
Android Auto has to be in developers mode to not care which Bluetooth it is using:
To enable it, open the Android Auto app on your phone and choose About from the left menu. Tap the About Android Auto header text about 10 times and you'll see a prompt to enable developer options. Accept it, then hit the three-dot Menu button and choose Developer settings-> Application mode "Developer"
On to the next challenge!
Cheers!
This sounds interesting. Any pics on the install?
Yes pics please, what are doing are weather proofing the head unit or are you a fair weather rider

BMW E8x E9x CIC PX6 Android 10,25" trouble with bluetooth, idrive, display ect.

Hello guy`s
i have some issues with a 10.25" Android Navigation display i bought.
i also did some chat with the sellers but it seems their english is not very good...
From what i saw the system is the same PX6 System 2GB ram /32GB flash as sold for all other E Series BMW cars, only the additional mount is different.
Unfortunately i can`t attach pictures or extranal links yet, so i`m writing the Android spec here.
MCUVer: 023042bGS-CIC-HW7-190118[B1280_170325]
FrameworkVer: 8.1.0 OPM5.171019.019 eng.zxw.20181228.162012
AndroidVer: 8.1.0
AppVer: 2019030801_1280x480_970
Ram: 2G
1st "issue".
when booting the device it does display the Lockscreen, not directly the BMW GUI, i have to swipe to unlock the screen.
any way to change this to go directly into the GUI?
I haven`t found an option yet.
2nd. issue.
Bluetooth does not work like it`s meant to from an Android Device.
there is only a bluetooth menu at the BMW GUI, where i can search for Bluetooth devices and connect them.
the problem is now, it only does find other mobile phones, it does not find the original CIC, not a BT headset, also not a BT mouse or BT keyboard.
when i go to to normal android settings "connected devices" i don`t have an bluetooth option here.
the BMW configuration has set "WenqiangBC6" BT Module enabled.
I want to use an additional Tsumbay Ai01 controller, but i also can not connect this device.
is it possible to reenable the original Bluetooth option there, i think it only has been disabled ?
3rd issue.
It has been delivered with an additional "pseudo" Idrive controller that is directly connected to the Android screen.
the problem is, that the controller will always only work for about 30-60 seconds, then it will not respond anymore, i have to reconnect the controller to get it work for again 30-60 seconds.
does someone also has this controller and had such trouble , or a fix for this ?
4th "issue".
I`m using google maps as i lost the Igo Software because a "factory reset" has been made.
when doing navigation, half of the screen is consumed by grey (bottom) or green (top) surfaces including the Status bar.
is there any chance to change the visuals of google maps to look like Android Auto or at least to make the bars smaller oder disable automatically disable the status bar ?
i have found no option for this, also not for scaling, probably it`s also disabled ?
5th "issue".
the harness does have alot of "CAN" connectors, "CAN A" "CAN B" "CAN C" "CAN 1" "CAN 2".
there did came no description whith the device, does someone have a description of the harness ?
i already updated the cartype.xml and factory.xml to get ID6 back, but that does not help for the other issues.
i hope someone can help me at least with some of the issues
sincerely Chri
Hello
I was able to "solve" the 3rd issue, when the Android navigation is set between Car and original CIC-HU, the original CIC controller does work fine so the pseudo controller isn`t needed anymore
The only thing is that i found a new issue,
7th issue,
the Aux Autoswitch option does go to the wrong menu point.
so when selecting "Music" it does not switch to AUX.
I made a video to show the Start to unlock issue and the Auto AUX issue, maybe this will help
https ://youtu.be/ETWdRfly6PY
you need to remove the space after https
sincerely Chri
Hey Chris, I'm also Dutch and I'm seeing a lot of the same issues..
Doe you know the factory settings code to get in the factory menu?
Thanks!
Hi to all
I have the same unit i get it from AliExpress navifly
I had the same exact issues like chris i did a factory reset and eventually i lost everything i did something wrong and now i have the unit is infinite loading on android and it’s not turning on. I am wondering if someone can help me with this and by the way the factory reset code is 1314
Has anyone solved the bluetooth problem? I just want to load normal android on it to be honest. Their audio bluetooth and phone stuff is taking control somehow. I don't even care for it.
same problem with bootooth here. Not able to connect bluetooth device from other apps (OBD or Flitsmeister)

meanwhile it`s a known common thing that Bluetooth is locked on this devices so only smartphones for playing music and do handsfree calling is possible, it is not possible to add other bluetooth devices like OBD dongles, mouse, keyboard ect.

Disable default bluetooth call overlay

Hi!
I don't really know the brand of the head unit I use, it says AJ002-OB at about section. I use Android Auto with HeadUnitReloaded. By default the head unit has a bluetooth call feature that brings up an overlay that completely blocks the screen making it unable to use while calling in progress. This also could be a reason to disable it, but since Android Auto has its own call feature, therefore I want to use that and only that. Can the default call feature somehow be disabled? Android Auto requires bluetooth audio connection to forward the call audio to the speakers, therefore disabling call feature on the phone makes android auto call feature useless as well.
Thank you!

Disabling the Bluetooth app itself does not disable BT functionality, since BT is not integral to the Android OS in these Chinese headunits, as it is with a smartphone - the app's name is a slight misnomer. I have been using HUR and AA, with the headunit external car mic and steering wheel button to place a call or use GA, like this for 4 years, without the overlay coming up. If you ever need to pair your phone or a new one, you will need to enable the app again, since that facility is only available in this app. Similarly if the unit is completely rebooted as in saved factory settings, you will need to disable the Bluetooth app again to work with HUR/AA phone/voice - it reenables automatically - but it will stay disabled for the normal sleep cycle of these headunits.
I meant disabling the bluetooth audio feature on the phone itself, not the app. How can I disable the app? Because it is not in the list of apps in settings.

Android Auto only uses Bluetooth audio for phone calls, all other audio, is over either USB or Wifi. If you disable the car's Bluetooth, which is what you originally suggested, you will have no initial connection anyway besides not being able to handle calls over the car's HU, as AA needs that to fire up first. If you disable Bluetooth audio on your phone, which is possible through clicking the cog by your paired BT connection, again you will have no phone calls on the HU. You cannot disable the phone Bluetooth via apps, since as I explained it is part of the Android OS on smartphones - you can switch BT off - again you will have no connection/no calls for AA.
You asked about the phone app overlay I explained how to get rid of that - not factory settings at all - Android settings (on the car)>apps>Bluetooth>disable (as shown in the picture you attached). It sounds like you have something set up wrongly for HUR/AA. One other reason Bluetooth phone calls may not work over the car's speaker's/mic, is if Audio sink is disabled in HUR settings too, then the only way the audio could arrive to the HU is via BT and only the phone's mic would be recognised by AA - but I have never tried that. But I am slightly confused now by what you are trying to achieve and what is happening for you, I can only vouch that Headunit Reloaded and Android Auto work perfectly as they should, in the way I described in my car.
One other thing I should add with my PX5 HU, canbus mapping of my steering wheel mic button, fires the BT/Phone app and the overlay. Not only did I have to disable the car's Bluetooth app but I also had to use MTCDTools to send the HUR intent gb.xxy.hr.mic to the button, in order to fire both Google Assistant voice and phone with AA - no need for 'Hey Google'; no overlay; click mic button, GA is already listening in AA, then say "Navigate to; Call such and such; Play x on Spotify..." etc.

So lets clear it out because as I see we misunderstand each other. I have an Android Headunit which I don't know the brand of. I use Android Auto with HeadUnit Reloaded through USB. I know, that Android Auto still needs bluetooth connection in order to make calls through car's speakers. My Headunit has its own call feature through bluetooth, that brings up an overlay that completely blocks the screen while calling is in progress no matter what is on the screen. It overlays Android Auto (so HeadUnitReloaded) and it covers the map as well that is not a good thing. Android Auto's call feature working simultaneously with the default call feature, so everything set up correctly. The only problem I want to solve is that I don't need the default overlay when I use Android Auto. The factory system is protected from developer settings and I cannot disable or uninstall any bloatware including bluetooth app.

This is the third time now I have said how to get rid of the overlay over AA - it is the Bt/phone app (in the car head unit, not on the phone) disable it - I don't know I can be clearer than that, notwithstanding you've provided very little details of your headunit. If you can't disable this app, which is not 'bloatware' btw, then you have something very wrong with your system. You need to talk to the manufacturer, since every Android device, and absolutely just about all these head units will at least allow you to disable these apps.

But I cannot disable it, as the attached image shows. The brand of my headunit (according to model that is AJ002-OB) is maybe AMPrime but that is the only thing I know about it.
I'll try to get some technical help from the store I bought the headunit. It would be nice if the call feature could be disabled simply with a check.
Anyway, thanks for your help.
As I say, there is something wrong then with your rom and headunit - in order to achieve what you want, you will need to be able to disable and re-enable this app, for any new pairing, at will. I have never seen a Chinese Android head unit that won't allow this.

You're welcome! A simple check is the same as disabling the app, which is a 15 second job and you're only disabling an MCU interface app to the Bluetooth device - it's important that the BT still functions, fortunately it does when you are able to disable the app. Anyway I hope you get some help with your store - you most likely will have to update your rom and MCU. Once you get it sorted, if you invoke this BT/Phone app on your steering wheel mic button presently, which is usually the case with the canbus boxes that came with these devices, you will most likely (though not always, some already function and those units with SWC can easily be mapped) also have to send an intent as I described earlier, for AA to function correctly for GA/calls, from this button. I used MTCDTools for that but I believe Tasker could do the same.
