Hi All,
On Tuesday i downloaded the OTA after getting the notification. The download completed but update paused because of low power. I plugged the Nexus into the mains and went to bed. In the morning i found that the 7 had not updated........any idea? My Nexus 5 updated no problem and i LIKE it.....A LOT!
John.
Are you rooted?
Same thing happened to my daughters 7. Update downloaded plugged in to let it charge up, came back and the update was gone, and tablet shows no system updates are available.
Similar happened to me. I got notification about update available. I downloaded the update successfully, confirmed to reboot and install the update but nothing happened after reboot. Update not installed. When I check for update now it shows that it's up to date... I'm running on completely stock ROMs only since beginning, installing OTA updates only as they come...

100% stock unrooted and unmodified (SO's tablet), downloaded and rebooted and no L - boo
- Clearing the device cache might help. The OTA is usually stored there so that would delete any partial or full downloads, and might restart the whole process.
- You could always sideload the OTA from your computer. The option is in the stock recovery mentioned in the link above. Just Google how. And you don't need to be rooted for that.
- You might consider waiting for the next update. A lot of users are complaining about performance of 5.0, especially on 2012 model. Personally mine runs great. First couple of days had a bit of lag but now it's as smooth as it was on 4.4.4
Rooted Nexus 4 Lollipop Update
Hi All,
My nexus 4 is rooted & i just got the lollipop update. However, during installation of the same, i got a question, Fix Root, with a red color exclamation sign on android robot. As i didnt know what was going on, I selected no. It rebooted my phone & I am still on 4.4.4 Now there is no OTA available. I have tried clearing cache memory, still its showing, System is up date. Please help as i dont mind loosing my root privileges over lollipop update.

Took an OTA update this AM in the US, but nothing seemed to change. Switched back to stock recovery, took update, downloaded, installed (no errors), rebooted, message said somethings about a Pre-Install APK, then nothing. Tablet info says I am now up to date, but nothing else seems to have changed.
I'm still on custom kernel (thor's), still on 3.1. I forget the GEN info, but I don't think that changed either.
Was this a pre-update update?
I got the update too.
Seemed to freeze up on me after installing (Gave it about 15 minutes on a black screen after installing, before I gave up). I had to power it off and back on. After booting, I got a message that the "Update Was Successful"
Kernal Number is: 2.6.36.3
Build is 4.010.13_COM_GEN2
But still Android 3.1
Ditto. Used stock recovery and unroot to get it to install. It's Gen 2.

Same here, updated with no errors. Didn't lose root and it still says 3.1
With the update to 3.1 they sent out a smaller update a few days earlier. This one may be the same thing.
It's just a small update, about less than 20MB download. But I have no idea what's been changed.

A new system update is available for your device. A network connection is required to download and update your device. You may incur additional charges from your service provider. Thank you for not replacing me with the HP TouchPad.

i'm gonna hold off on installing this until i know more of what its all about...
I uploaded the zip in development, I don't think I'm gonna install either...
I also installed the 14MB update today. The tablet was rooted, but otherwise stock. After the update the tablet remains rooted. I have experienced no other issues.
Cheers,
A
I had the same experience as above. So far no issues.
This actually made me worried about the possibility of us to get an update to 3.2 on 8/25. Otherwise, they should just pass this incremental.
Hi guys, so i recieved the OTA a few hours back and it required me to have more battery life in order to continue with it.
I was charging it and realised that it would allow to me to continue as long as it was charging, so i continued with the operation.
It rebooted my nexus (everything stock, rooted using mskips all in one root) and then required a confirmation to continue. in my excitement i pressed power instead of vloume down (in order to scroll down to yes). i thought that i should just rather reboot my nexus and start the whole process again, but now it doesnt show that there is a update available, system update says my system is uptodate but i am still running 4.1.1
does anyone know how long it will take for OTA to come through again? or how i can "induce" it?
I would just flash the update manually. Check out links to download from Google site.
Rootbrain
yeah i guess, i was gonna do so anyway by monday if i hadnt gotten the OTA by then XD still would prefer OTA though....
Had a weird problem this morning, I'll give you a quick rundown 1st.
nexus 7 32 gb unit, rooted on 4.1.2, got the ota update to 4.2 kept root
no problem. Got the ota for 4.2.1 again kept root with no problem.
Been running a few days with no problems.
This morning when I woke it got the message google process gapps force close.
rebooted it and the same thing. had an update from the play store but couldn't get in
would just flicker for a sec. every time I hit the play store button.
Had a backup of 4.2 I made just before the update, tried to get into recovery and just
got the android on his back with the red triangle. re-flashed recovery (twrp) flashed my
4.2 backup now everything is fine. Sorry about the long post, just trying to find out why I
lost my gapps and recovery for no reason, didn't change anything or upgrade anything.
Just running stock rooted.
I have the system update for 4.2.1 but I'm not sure if I should update it.
Again, sorry for the long post, just looking for some feedback.
Thanks
Received notification of a system update today, 10 August 2015. I'm a little leery of installing this. I'm at 5.1.1 and after installing 5.1.1, I have the dreaded unannounced deaths where the phone will turn itself at random. Sometimes it will reboot if you hold the power button down for about 15 seconds. Sometimes the charger needs to be plugged in before it will reboot. Sometimes it cycles through all apps before completing the reboot. Sometimes not. If the new update will fix this, I'm all for it. But, I don't want to get fooled again with these updates. So, anyone else get an update? What does it do? Any problems after the update? Thanks.

It's the first update of Google's announced security patch program. Expect frequent OS updates now to address security issues. This one patches the well publicized Stagefright MMS exploit.
That was my guess. I rarely text, or other, message, so I'm not too worried about Stagefright. My gut tells me to wait until others have installed. I have enough memory leak auto turn-off issues, that I'm afraid of making my phone worse than it is.
If Google would be so kind as to include a memory leak resolution in these updates, I'd jump all over it.
Well I had been postponing updating to Lollipop for months... (was still on 4.4.4 cuz I didn't quite like the new UI) and decided to update Sunday morning.
Big mistake.
The OTA 5.1.1 5.0.1 update made my phone become unstable, lag, and crash at random. Constantly get "X ins't responding", where X can be anything from Launcher to System UI to Chrome!
I currently can't even use my N4, and I'm trying to find a way to revert the upgrade, My 4.4.4 was rooted, and now it's not and I can't even enter Recovery mode.
Not sure if it's 100% related to your troubles, but I've been having similar random reboots lately and just general instability.
Edit: my bad, I just realized it was 5.0.1 I upgraded to.

I saw the update and thought it would be a good idea but I now have a tablet stuck in reboot loop. Have tried everything (clearing data, factory reset, etc) and still not able to get past looping. Might want to wait before you update.

You have to lock your bootloader for Ota to work.

I don't think your bootloader has to be locked, but since 5.+ you do have to be unrooted with no changes to your /system partition. I know I have sideloaded the OTA after flashing stock images. Just did not want the poster to lock their bootloader and brick themselves thinking they will be able to boot the OTA if they have modified /system at all.

USA user of Russian version yotaphone 2. Got notified three days ago of the 1.1.124 update but every time I tried the phone would reboot, fail to update, reboot back to android and re-download the update to try again. I made a video of what it did. After two days of trying and an unanswered tweet and support email later it magically corrected itself.

I did try copying the update from cache and sideloading. I'm rooted but with stock recovery. Recovery at least gave me a better understanding of what could have happened. Seems there was a problem with the zip. Apparently there was a problem with ALL of them since I re-downloaded it about 8 times before it worked!
I post this here as a reference.

UK user of the same. Tried the OTA but was still on TWRP, didn't work. Then flashed stock recovery. Now it downloads, and that's kind of it: I press 'restart & install', it count down to restart then just switches to prior screen saying "your system is up to date". Going to try pulling it from the cache and adb sideload weh I get a chance.
How'd the sideloading go?

Any decent new features / battery improvements?
Just updating to say have got a new phone. Loved the Yota for the first year and it's use when outside is outstanding but have spent far too long trying to update and fix things, it doesn't really last more than a month without getting intolerably slow so I've upgraded. Might get around to sorting the Yota out but probably more likely to just reset it and save it for sunny days reading in the park or summit.
