[Q] [BRICK][TWRP] LG G2 D-802 bricked & not seen from PC - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, this is a big trouble.
My LG G2 (16GB, european format, I bought it in Italy) always work perfectly. I didn't mod anything til yesterday, just rooted and added superuser, and worked fine. I have the original stock firmware and original Android 4.4.0 Kit Kat.
Then yesterday I wanted to install the XCam, so before I install the TWRP recovery. Disaster: black, total black. From that moment, G2 doesn't work. And didn't go to recovery or download.
One of the last moves I did before the disaster: TWRP installing asked me the format of my mobile, "AT&T" or "international", and I chose the second one.
Anyway, after some attempts, I was succesful in restore a few modes. I followed this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
With Ubuntu on the terminal of my friend, I followed the guide and now this is the current situation:
1) When I try to press power, it stucks at the logo
2) If I press power & vol -, appears the logo, then press these again and I go in sort of Hard Factory Reset, but it's not really true, cause I press 3 times power and I go in TWRP recovery
3) If i press vol + while I'm plugging mobile to PC, appears the "download mode" screen on mobile. But PC doesn't see it
(see the photos I attached)
Now my real problem is how to install and restore the original stock firmware. All this trouble happened not because of OTA or a mod, but just cause of installing a TWRP in bad way.
In the guide I linked above, it suggests to write some command strings in recovery but that doesn't work for me, I guess cause I don't have an OTA.
So I don't know how to insert a file to restore my firmware, because I don't have in my memory and, as you know, G2 doesn't have external memory.
I tried connecting a usb pen drive but doesn't see it in recovery.
I tried connecting in download mode to PC, using LG Flash Mobile and more, but doesn't work cause my PC seems unable to see the mobile.
I followed this guide hoping to modify the hosts file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44710061#post44710061
But didn't work. Also, I can't activate usb debug cause I can't enter in my mobile.
What can I do? Suggestions?

Help, please

borrow or buy a mini usb otg stick, put the flashable stock rom on it (for your variant), connect it to the device, enter twrp, install the rom zip from usb otg...
see in twrp under "mount" if it shows you "usb/otg" (don't know which twrp version you have so i assume it's the older 2.7.x.x one)
you can also search the xda on how to sideload a rom zip from a computer to a bricked or formatted device (i personally have mini usb otg stick so i never used sideloading)
good luck

You haven't attached any images of the download mode.
Downloade mode is:
1. power off your lg g2
2. hold volume up AND connect g2 to pc
Now..if there is an actual download mode with arrows then it's ok. If you see the blue circles only then you have to fix it.
This would be the next step then...
btw LG flash tool

I already tried the tutorial with LG Flash Tool, but PC doesn't see my device

Install vmware and download slax. Install slax inside vmware. Connect it to PC and attach the qualcomm device. Then there is another tutorial for unbricking. Seek my posts inside

"Connect it to PC and attach the qualcolmm device"? What you mean? Just that I plug my device to PC?

I don't have Ubuntu, are you sure I can do that with Windows PC - and with no damage?
I already follow this tutorial (the first link in my first post). Now my computer can't see the device. Are you sure I can do this procedure anyway?

I'm sincerely worried to damage my PC with VmWare and Slax. Can't I use Ubuntu?

You can use ubuntu. Neither of these will damage your pc

Should I also overwrite the openrecovery file with an updated TWRP recovery, in order to support USB OTG ?

Can't find kdz extractor, anyway

I have the same problem and i have try all the aboves the only way to unbrick it i think is only via adb because i have adb acces
sorry for my english, thanks advance.

Possible Brick - CWM recovery loop after OTA update

Hi,
Have the LG G2 D802 and previously had rooted and installed CWM 6.0.4.4. I left it with stock rom afterwards. I made the mistake of clicking for the OTA update and now I continually boot into CWM recovery.
I tried wiping cache, dalvik cache, factory wipe, etc to no avail. I cannot access phone through ADB while I'm in CWM (even after going into sideloader) and cannot get into download mode (if I push volume up and plug in usb cord it gets stuck on LG loading screen. If I hold power down it resets back into CWM). USB mount doesn't work.
I searched through the forums (and saw others who have similar issue) but haven't seen a solution. I know this was solved for TWRP in the below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
but I'm guessing I'm probably SOL but just wanted to have a last check if anyone had come up with a solution.
The only thing that I'm potentially trying is that when I plug in to the computer while in CWM it does detect the device but can't install the drivers. Previously I was able to connect to it via ADB going through the normal route when phone was working properly on my computer so I know the drivers should be good so I'm guessing just through CWM it doesn't work properly. I've tried installing all the latest drivers but no luck also. Has anyone gotten ADB to work when in CWM recovery mode on the D802? Thanks in advance.

Try installing the PdaNet drivers and see if you have any luck. Otherwise maybe try another computer. Good luck!

Great suggestion with PdaNet drivers! You are a lifesaver. Though the normal drivers through LG website didn't work, the PdaNet drivers allowed me to install the drivers when in CWM recovery mode and it allowed me to connect via ADB and fix the issue!! Thanks so much!!!!
For those who have similar issues, I did the below steps:
1. While connected to computer in CWM recovery, install the drivers via PdaNet (these replace any original LG drivers)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983470
2. Connect to phone via ADB while still connected in CWM recovery (see below ADB download if you didn't already have it or forgot where it was)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
3. While connected via ADB you can use the same method as in the below thread (use the first one).

If you can get into download mode follow the directions here: http://optimusforums.com/threads/guide-complete-guide-to-unbrick-your-soft-bricked-g2-f320.9232
You will need the TOT file and corresponding DLL for your specific phone.

You have to do the commands that are in the first box of that post in ADB on your computer.
Just tried this and worked beautifully. Thanks OP.
Had a similar issue last night then thankfully a fellow nerd mentioned if you hold power and vol down then hold where the home screen would be on your blank device screen it will pull up factory reset which if you accept will put you into your recovery. Saved my ass last night thought I was dunzo.
If u don't have any roms to flash this will do u no good and you'll have to go the download mode route

Not sure if it'll help but you can also try the koush driver referenced here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564012&highlight=koush+com&page=2
You could also try going into sideload mode in CWM (not sure if it does anything though, I didn't need to do that, google sideload to see if you aren't familiar with it). Good luck.
Thanks dude, now my phone back to normal! Thanks for the guide

OK now im stuck with the same issue, adb only see's my device as offline so i cant execute shell. How to I put it into online mode?

cant enter recovery cant bootloader error usb isnt recognised

hi,
i had this issue for a while, the thing now is that my a500 is rooted with the a500 root tool, i have acer recovery installer
image number (Acer_AV041_A500_RV03RC01_WW_GEN1)
Build number (Acer_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1)
Recovery image set is CWM rev1.3.4 by thor2002ro (gives bootloader verification error) set by acer recovery installer
Bootloader version 0.03.12-ICS
usb isnt recognizing the device, cant use blackthnd3r APX flashtool or a500 manager or any other tool using usb. i tried to check for the usb using usbdeview the only way i can get to the device is with adb using tcp (connect thru wifi)
i think i can get in APX mode thru the a500 root tools cuz i get the black screen and the power light is on. i have my cpuid and SBK and a terminal emu on my a500 too i hope i gave sufficient info on this to help me.
any help? i need to unroot it or fix the bootloader issue or download another rom that could be better than what i got now
I dont know how i got into this, i been into some threads around here but im not that pro with this and i hope i get some help :crying::crying:

cuz i mentioned that cant flash anything to it, or is there a way i can flash without recovery mode or thru APX using usb?
This is a way via tablet. No pc adb etc. I rushed a bit... any recovery is ok (custom or stock) you enter it via power +vol up (i think) and than flash stock rom

So basicly first download stock rom on your tablet. Rename it to update.Zip enter recovery and wipe all and flash. Aint that hard

First, you cannot install a custom recovery using acer recovery installer with 3.12 bootloader, this is why you are getting boot verification error.
To get a custom recovery on your tab you must flash the unlocked bootloader
To get the unlocked bootloader you must have
a) Your CPUID
b) Drivers - The acer drivers and the usb drivers
c) micro usb cable to connect to your PC
d) a PC running XP, Vista, win7 32bit system or ubuntu
e) Use icsRoot tool to delete the boot.p file (otherwise your custom recovery will be overwritten with the stock recovery (dead android) on reboot.
f) If you are already rooted check this file /system/boot.p - if its not there carry on
Once you have all this you can use the apxFlash tool to flash the bootloader.
You will need a custom rom on your ext sd card. After you've flashed the bootloader, enter recovery immediately, do the wipes and flash your rom. Done.
All download links can be found in the root guide in my sig or civato's guide which is stickied in the Dev forum

I'm not sure you're understanding the process.
The method I posted does not have anything to do with a rom. Its based on using apx mode.
A) Put yr tab in apx mode.
B) connect yr micro usb cable
C) check " safely remove hardware" icon for an "apx device"
If its listed there then follow the directions I posted.
If its not showing then you must install the drivers, as I posted above!! Nothing will work as it should, until you have both sets
of drivers are installed correctly.
If you don't know what apx mode is or how to access it. Pls read the root guide in my sig. The first 2 posts.

I'm not sure you're understanding the process.
The method I posted does not have anything to do with a rom. Its based on using apx mode.
A) Put yr tab in apx mode.
B) connect yr micro usb cable

when turning it on hold volume down and power button at the same time. Then when the LG logo comes up let go and hold them down again and press the power key twice to get into the recovery or maybe it will boot up normally.
Hey thanks for the reply, i tried your trick it doesn't work then i followed the fix with ubuntu, after that no more black screen I'm now stuck on the LG logo all the time .
Help !!
If you can enter download mode, try flashing appropriate kdz file to your phone.
You can also try to install pdanet and check with that. Select the device and proceed. Once the drivers are installed .. Try flashing the stock... Lemme know of this works

If you successfully transferred the correct recovery image using dd commands you should be able to boot into recovery. Have you tried booting into recovery after dd command? I did not even push the other files listed in guide, all I pushed was recovery image and it booted like a charm. Keep in mind I do own the VS980 variant, although it should be the same process just different image files.
So i did use the dd command on it, and transfered the openrecovery twrp for f320s but it just cannot boot on it with vol down and power

Well to enter the recovery you supposed to hold down Vol+ & Power until LG logo appears, release both, and then immediately press&hold those two buttons again.
Can you get your device in adb mode?

PDANET is the key
Did u try using the pdanet? I was exactly in the same situation as u are. No matter if the lg drivers are installed.... The pc won't recognize the phone as ADB.EXE had stopped working. Here is what I did:
1) install pdanet.
2) it asked me to select the device and then it installed the drivers.
4) with this hopefully the ADB.EXE should start in your device manager. In my case it did.
5) go to google adb bundle folder.
6) go to SDK>platform tools> and paste your CM and gapps there.
7) try bridging the connection by going into the command prompt > and CD into the platform tools directory.
8) in the cmd put the command 'amd push "CM NAME" /sdcard/' and hit enter
9) this should push the file onto the phone... Do the same for gapps... And install it from the TWRP.
10) ALL THE BEST

Hi ! thanks for the help but my device is still not recognized by the computer after i typed adb devices, i guess it's pretty over now, just gonna send it back to china and try to make the warranty work !
When I bricked mine at the LG logo, I got into download mode by
>Shut the phone off
>Hold volume up while plugging it in to the computer
>?????
>Profit!
Hope it helps
Tried that but can't access to the download mode
try this even if you had a bad flash the hard drive is split in three parts you only messed up one part so download mode should still be bootable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475045

[Q]LG G2 re-flashing or rooting stock 4.4.2 bad rom

Hi all,
First off I've tried now for a two days to solve this, reading as much as I could find on here and the rest of the internet.
I decided to root my LG D802 running 4.2 and install CWM recovery no problem. Next I flashed a stock 4.4.2 vodaphone img. All went well untill i tried to use the touch screen, which shows that when i press on one point on the screen it selects multiple points basically its unusable and unable to do almost anything with it, however i have managed to turn on ADB and connect to the phone. So now i have a stock recovery and an unusable ROM.
So next up I tried to rooting it since I had ADB shell working ok, using the IOROOT25. This appears to work as when it reboots and installs the kkroot.zip in the recovery it's saying it worked. Now when I reboot and open ADB shell then type SU to get root I can't press ok when superuser pops up to asking me to give it permission, because of the touch screen problem.
If i can get root in ADB then remount the files system then i will be able to DD a new recovery img??
After getting this far and loosing, I then found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 on flashing to stock, but the program crashes every time it's about to flash, so i tried doing a fresh install of windows 7 and then tried windows 8 however the program still crashes every time and yes I have followed the instructions and tried the manual method and checking the 127.0.0.0. lgblahblah is there
So no I am turning to you guys for help.
phone details;
Model: D802 32GB
Firmware operator: VDF
sw version: D80220a
ro.build.fingerprint: lge/g2_vdf_com/g2:4.4.2/KOT49I.D80220a/D80220a.1392133741:user/release-keys
Recovery: <3e> KOT49I.D80220a test-keys
UPADATE: I have root but getting this error when trying to flash the recovery:
+] loki_flash v2.0
[-] Loki aboot version does not match device.
any ideas?
Ok so i found a different aboot img pushed to the phone and flashed that using dd
Code:
dd if=/data/local/tmp/about.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
this solved the problem above and a allowed me to flash cwm recovery. This then broke the installed rom so it wouldn't boot. now I had a custom recovery i flashed a EUR open 16gb stock zip this all went well and now i have a working phone What i should of done is remove the stock recovery.img from the zip and the line to flash it in the update script so it didn't flash the stock recovery.
This now leaves me with the loki flash problem above when trying to flash a custom recovery i could flash a different aboot.img but i don't want to break the current rom.
Any one else found a way to solve this problem?

Have you tried running IO root to again root on your device? Also do you know much about linux, command line and android tools like ADB? Or do I need to explain the commands step by step?

i downloaded ioroot25 and extracted it and ran root.bat
Looking for device...
Make sure drivers are installed. Check Windows Device Manager.
Make sure proper USB Debugging mode is enabled.
Verizon users make sure ethernet mode is selected.
Did you check phone screen for Yes/No prompt?
(select checkbox to always remember then hit yes)
...sometimes you need to unplug the USB cable then re-plug.
Determining device model...
Rebooting into stock recovery...
When recovery loads, select: *apply update from adb* with power button...
then press Enter/Return on your keyboard.
Press any key to continue . . .
(here the phone restarts and LG logo appears with (secure booting error)message in the upper left corner, and when i press any key)
Reboot back into System after flash in recovery finishes.
Press any key to continue . . .
and when pressing any key the cmd closes and the phone stays on with black screen and the back light on
in the pc i get many windows about formating drives (from H to S)
and i dont know anything about linux or command line
would you explain it to me??
Ok so your phone not longer boots, correct? Do you know what build/version plus any other details of the rom you flashed? or even a link so i can have a look at the rom you have installed. Can you get into recovery mode and is it still a stock recovery image? also what is your phone d802? 16gb 32gb?

If you're running root.bat as an admin, try executing it without admin privileges. Dunno why, but it seemed to work for me.

Hi! I've recently flashed an updated stock ROM and have the same Touchscreen issue as yourself! Can you tell me the steps you have done to fix it? I'm using windows 8.1 to flash etc, and using a stock ROM I can't seem to get it to work again

[GUIDE] How to root, install TWRP, ROMs and mods on a G3s/G3 beat d722 in 2020?

*After I wrote this whole thing as a DM i figured it might be helpful for a couple of people that are struggeling to root and install a custom recovery on their d722.*
Before we start you will need a PC with internet connection and a USB cable.
If you get stuck or need something about the device you can find it here. It's an XDA thread about the d722, it's mods, roms... : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/lg-g3s-beat-d722-thread-t3110048
First you will need to flash your phone back to 4.4 kitkat firmware to ensure maximum compatibility (this is the only way my device would root) ( find it here: https://lg-firmwares.com/ (type in your model and download a 4.4 firmware closet to your region, language...)). We will do that with the lg flash tool (find it here: https://lgflash.com/download/) + also install lg drivers if you don't have them already (https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-mobile-drivers-and-software-CT10000027-20150179827560).
1. First enable developer options in phone settings by tapping the build number 7 times. Go to the developer options and there tick usb debugging. Than you want to turn you device off. Hold volume up and plug it into you computer. You will get into download mode. On your PC extract and open the lg flash tool. There you will chose your kdz firmware file you downloaded previously and click normal fash. Choose other instead of korean and your preferred language. When you flash it the tool might report an error but just ignore it and wait for the phone to reach 100% download. It will reboot itself when finished. After that you can close the flash tool and continue to the next step.
2. Now you will root your phone. You will do that with lg one click root (found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951). Download the latest GUI version, install it onto your PC and open it. When your redy plug your phone into the computer (turned on no apps open) and click start. Wait for it to be done. It's normal for it to restart a few times.
3. Now we will instal the custom recovery to be able to flash ROMs. To do that you will need to dowbload this zip file from here and extract it with 7zip (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61220755&postcount=100) and install ADB (remeber install folder) (from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979). Paste aboot file into /sdcard folder (or folder of choice with adjusted path in command) ob your phone uding file manager. Than open CMD and type in
cd *path of your folder*
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/aboot.bin of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
If you get an error that says there is no aboot file or something similar than you nees to change this command : dd if= *your phones path*/aboot.bin of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot For me it was : dd if=/external_SD/aboot.bin of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
4. This should have installed a basic version of TWRP on your phone ane booted into twrp recovery but we will be updating it.
To get into recovery from off state hold volume down + power button until you see the LG logo. Relese both for a split second and hold both down again (volume down + power) until you see an option to factory reset (wont actualy reset anything if you did all steps correctly). Click yes and yes again by using volume and power buttons and you will be booted to TWRP.
Alternative is to go to playstore and download root app that boots you to recovery if you do it often.
This version is quite old and not capable of flashing newer ROMs so we will be flashing an updated version (download it here: https://vasy.ru/TWRP/jagnm/ and rename it to .img if it isnt named like that alredy). Easiest way is to download it to your PC and transfer it via USB if your PC detects the phone while in TWRP. If not boot it up transfer the files and boot back to recovery. Now just flash the .img file and reboot.
5. At this point you have root privilages (super SU) and a custom recovery. Now all theres left to do is to flash ROMs and mods.
You boot to TWRP recovery, connect your phone to the PC and transfer the .zip files you want to flash. Tha you click flash in twrp chose your ROM files and click add more, your GAPPS click add more and the mod (if you want to try it of course). Than you flash them, wair for it to finish and click reboot.
If it takes longer than 15 min+ than you probaboy have a bootloop. To fix it take out the battery put it back in and boot into recovery (volume down + power until LG logo pops up, release for half a second hold again, yes and yes). Try factory reseting (type yes). And than just flash the ROM and boot. If it boots go back to recovery and flash GAPPS and mod and it should normaly boot into android.
If nothing fixes your issue you can alway use the firmware and lgflashtool to go back to default unrooted kitkat or lolipop.
My recomendations:
I personaly use this liniage (14.1) 7.1 ROM as it's still getting updates (I also tried 8.1 but it's buggy, laggy and gapps don't work):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/cyanogenmod-14-1-lg-g3s-t3508224
And of course you want google apps to go along with it:
https://opengapps.org/ (pick ARM, android version of ROM (7.1 in this case) and how many preinstalled apps (I use nano))
I also have this mod installed which makes colours of your display a bit better:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/6z9yg1d3gooyz37/Sony_Bravia_3.zip
From here you can also get Exposed framework, root apps like LSpeed to speed up your phone even more, greenfy and amplify to improve battery life. Again every mod for this phone along with overclocking and other mods is or was discussed here at one point so dont be afraid to join the conversation in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/lg-g3s-beat-d722-thread-t3110048
And ofcourse google is your friend if you get into any issues. Hope this helps, typed it on my G3s .
Thanks

It would be better for our phone to release an android 9 custom, it would be great. Here is the same phone as our processor and video accelerator. Android 9 would work great on our phone https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=633150&view=findpost&p=36961339
Thanks for the guide!
I bought a G3s D722 cheap off ebay to experiment with. I tried to flash four different kitkat roms many times on 2 computers and each time the phone went into boot loop (start tune and logo over and over) so I flashed the first UK Lollipop on the list and all went fine, there are not UK kitkat roms in the link.
The UK kitkat roms must be different is all I can determine anyone know where I can get one?
The preflash OS was V20e-EUR-XX and now its V20d
Any thoughts or suggestions anyone?
Thanks!
I couldn't get this to work so tried the very easy no PC method in the link and it works great!
