I'm fishing around and trying to figure out if i want this Kindle Fire which i would root right away so i can use android market. Or if i should go for Toshiba Thrive, Sony Tablet S, or ASUS EEE HD Transformer. I kind of don't want to spend a lot of money but if anyone can answer me a few questions that would be awesome.
I mainly wanna use my University of Phoenix app, but for free time i read and play games. I wanna know if Dungeon Defenders, Order & Chaos, GTA III work on the kindle fire and is it playable? I am alright if it lags a little but enough to play?
Okay, so quite a few things here!
If you want a tablet that is good value for money and that can do all the things you have stated above, the Kindle Fire is definately the best option.
- The University of Phoenix App is compatible with the Kindle Fire
-All of the above games work perfectly without lag (actually, dungeon defenders IDK)
GTA 3 is amazing, and works perfectly on full graphics.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for the reply! I think will go with the kindle fire. I bought one for my mother for christmas and i like it, she wont let me use it though. As long as i know those apps i use a lot work, im happy.
By anychance has anyone got the sims free play working on the fire? I hear it has major issues with a lot of divices.

Kindle fire when opened up is the best for the dollar imo.

I don't think that passes video back and forth, which is what the OP is looking for.
Maybe this one?

I'm not sure if this is just a remote or what.
The Samsung smart TV app only worked for me on a Samsung tablet. The basic Samsung remote app Will work with the exception of the screen mirror part. Works as a remote only

ImediaShare works well with Nexus 7 and DLNA LCDs, actually better than AllShare.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the ideas, my aim is to watch on my tablet what I can watch on my smart TV but in an other room e.g. if I am watching DVD on my TV my partner can see it the same from the bedroom as well. Basically like a second screen with the same program on it.
I hope that is give some extra help.
I think the same like if I watch my dreambox on the TV and I can see the same channel on my PC that kind of stuff what I want to achieved if it is possible but with my Nexus 7. Any idea...
:good:

I used Samsung Remote from Google Play store on my Samsung S Advance, but it doesn't work on my Nexus 7.
There is also Samsung Remote Tab... for tablets... doesn't work either. I don't know why ...
I'm interested in a solution.
restored it thru a ti backup i think.... from my a500 tablet...
I recently purchased a Nexus 7, which I understand to have the same resolution as a Kindle Fire HD 8.9". I used to be able to run the Wired APK from the Amazon app store, but the old version of the APK that I have force closes on my Nexus 7. Would someone be willing to download the Wired app from the Amazon App Store on to their Fire HD (I don't believe the specific size model matters), and upload or email me the APK so I can sideload it?
I can't download the app directly since I have a different device, and the app is only listed as compatible with Kindle Fire and Nook HD models.
Thanks in advance!
up! i need it too, thank you
Nobody?? On a rooted Kindle Fire, this would have to take, what... all of five minutes? Maybe ten?
We aren't the first to ask for this, there are a lot of people out there who would really appreciate having the APK to at least give a shot!
I am on the fence about selling my fire TV 2 and buying an NVIDIA Shield TV. Does anyone know if DirecTV for tablets works on the shield? Or does it need to be rooted first?
Only way to get directv now on shield tv is by casting.

How well does casting work for you? How is the video quality? Any stutter?

Sorry, I am talking about "DirecTV for Tablets" specifically. Directv Now is a different service with a different app.

Yes it works fine, you just have to sideload the apk as you can't find it through the play store on stock. But it works, you can navigate the channel list with the d-pad and the right stick works as a mouse.

Works fine, i'd say on par with the amazon app or very close. Zero stutter.
Yes, the DirecTv app for tablets works perfect sideloaded on the shield Tv. I just ditched Comcast and signed up for DirecTv. Best decision I made in a while.
I have a Fire HD 8 from 2017, and an extra bluetooth speaker floating around. Seems like a good combo for a Alexa or Google Assistant IF I can get it to work hands-free, instead of buying a Google Home or Amazon Echo. Is there currently any way to do this HANDS FREE. I don't mind rooting if necessary (if even possible)

I mostly want to control music without having to have the tablet next to me. I realize Alexa comes installed by default, but I am looking for HANDS-FREE.
It would be so handy if the alexa „Hands-free“ feature could be extracted from Fire 10 and than be integrated to Fire 7 or 8.

Google now works for me hands free with Ok Google, using the Google Now instructions on the bottom of the post.
