I thought it would be cool to have a thread where everyone can brag about what their network speed is like.
It can also show people what type of speed they might be able to achieve if they get this phone

I guess it's also handy to post our signal strength, since in the end that's the thing that makes these results vary.
Signal strength 102-108 dBm
I'll have to upload it later but I'm on AT&T GoPhone service and I pulled 62 dow and 17 up with full bars. I've never seen a phone go that fast before. I love this phone.

Dang. I can relate: mine's somewhere between 8 and 12mbit/s down, and somewhere between 800k and 1mbit/s up... Though, any uploading will render the down-stream almost unusable. Say I want to upload a video and idly browse websites while I wait, or play an online game, even one as light on traffic as a super quiet Minecraft server... not happening. Latency is through the roof until the upload's done. :/
On the plus side, it's unlimited, so I've got that going for me which is nice. I've still been tempted to use my phone's 4G to quickly upload things, though. :I

So far on 3g I've never broken 1000kbps. yes thats kbps.
I just ran a few speed tests again.
5 out of 6 bars.
3 tests run.
Highest download speed: 26 yes TWENTY SIX kbps.
Upload was the normal 147.
IS THIS THE ENHANCED 3g/4g experience I'm paying for?!?
Sprint 3G sucks pretty badly compared to AT&T and T-Mobile. I've seen AT&T phones get over 1500kbps way more often than not.
With my phone I consistently get under 1000kbps with good signal areas giving me over 1300kbps and up to 2000kbps if I'm lucky.
Yeah, this was one of the major disappointments of coming from tmobile with 2-6mbps dls and not realizing how slow cdma 3g data was..probably the main reason im getting the g2 soon.

Ha, I just got 592 down and 87 up.
Honestly, though, my house sucks for signal quality. My AT&T phones could barely even make a call out of here. My Epic sounds basically like a land line in comparison. But yeah, data speeds suck. It's not the Epic's fault.
Luckily I have wi-fi at home and at work and I'm in a 4G area otherwise.

You're comparing 2 gsm providers with a cdma provider. Cdma is not real 3g, so their gsm speeds are always better...personally sprint gives me the best service of verizon, usc, or att. My data speeds with sprint are twice what I ever saw with vz and I never had att 3g serviceat home, had to drive into town.

My phone rarely drops below 600dl. One of the places I work I get decent speed at 1700 down (still upload capped). The 1 time I got no upload cap, my phone must have been downloading an update from Sprint (DI07) cause I got prompted to install it shortly afterwards. This has to account for something... I'll patiently wait for the fix though as I love the phone and rarely upload anything. E-mails still send fine (no pics, just text for work).
Can someone give me some of thier speed test results for the virgin Mobile network. I currently get 2 mb/s download and 1.6 upload with tmobile, But I will be ditching my tmobile plan and selling my Vibrant. Tmo has me pissed off.
I will be buying the intercept and i will also be tehtering with it. Does the Mobile AP work on the froyo update for this phone?

Well depending on the location and time of the day, i get download speeds between 250kbps to 1100 kbps and uploads between 150 to 450kbps.
Way better than t-mobiles piss ass speeds of 20kbps inside the house and work. If you need 3g speeds u need to go stand outside the building..

the thing to remember when asking about dl and ul speeds on the intercept is also it was cheated in many departments one of those being radio. it's a EVDO rev. 0 not the newer, faster EVDO rev. A radio. This also limits the speeds you'll get compared to your vibrant. As always your mileage will vary based on signal strength as well
Roughly Los Angeles area here (San Fernando Valley to be more precise) and I get anywhere from 600-1400 down and about a consistent 120 up.

I went to download my first podcast today. It's about 25 MB and it's taking like 10 minutes to download. I tried a diff. podcast from a diff. site and the same slowness. I have full signal strength. Does Tmobile have some kind of restriction to speeds of downloading?
It's my first 3G enabled device so it's hard to say, but it seems like the internet is bit slow to me.. It takes quite some time to open full site like xda, for example. I don't know if that's normal, so that's my question.
I want to exchange it before 30 days if this is a problem.. but it seems like the internet is not up to speed.

You shouldn't be getting limited. Grab the speed test app off the market and see what it measures your speed at. I get 3-5 mbit at my home most of the time, sometimes faster, and I've never experienced a speed limit when downloading a file.
I got Download: 217kbps Upload: 59 kbps with speedtest.net.
With other units I got: Download: 0.15Mbps and Upload: 0.10
I have 4 full bars for signal.
I tried this with my Virgin Mobile Intercept and I got Download: 1.02 Mbps and Upload: 0.17 Mbps
Something is definitely wrong. I am running Trinity Kernel with CM7 rom. Would this problem be with my phone or with TMobile?

NAND it and then go back to stock to see if it changes, that would be my suggestion.
You have 4 full bars, but do you have the 3G icon displaying? Is it green?
Your speeds sound like you're stuck on EDGE.
Perhaps try cycling the 2G only setting on and off...
do a speed test and see what you are getting.
Out of interest are you in the uk? As I know T-Mobile restricted there data speeds for those that brought the nexus s form a third party seller like the carphone warehouse.

This is true, but does this include the Nexus S, if it does include the NS then that is disgusting because the NS is only available from Carphone Warehouse in the UK, you can't get the NS directly from T-Mobile UK or any carrier for that matter as it is sold as unlocked and unbranded, so we have no other choice but to buy from a third party like Carphone Warehouse.
I know some people had to call T-Mobile when they got there phone because of slow internet speeds, something to do with the wrong data plan code.

I agree its rubbish as they only sell through third party places. I had to call tmobile and complain about the data speed, they said that because I was not on the web and walk plus package that comes as standered with their Android phones when brought direct from them I would get a cap on my data.
The web and walk plan is am extra 5 quid a month but if you complain and make a point you use a lot of data, its the reason you use tmobile ect..... they sometimes upgrade you for free.
It took about 20 mins on the phone them but I managed it in the end.

Glad to see it was a simple fix. Sometimes we all forget to check the easy things as the first steps in troubleshooting!
I recently switched from ATT. Before I switched, I had my Dell streak and Nexus S both active. Every speed test I did, Tmobile blew away ATT, sometimes by almost 1mbs. There were even instances where I had less bars on the Nexus, and it still beat the Streak, which was on ATT.
I'm looking at buying a galaxy note, but the international Galaxy Note is really the one I want. Unfortunately, I need data speeds. Not the 40mbps of LTE, but I need more than my 1.4/0.9 mpbs that I get now on my Samsung Captivate. What speeds do you guys get on your notes? What did you get on your non-HSPA+ devices? Was there much of an improvement? I tether, and the added speed would be handy, if it exists.

I think this GNote is HSPA+. My results from Speedtest in Atlanta, GA...(see below/attached).
I wondered the same before so scoured around a bunch and saw that ATT speeds can vary between 1mpbs - 7mpbs down, and .5-1.5mbps up depending on various factors.
It really depends on where you are. Most importantly, how many other AT&T customers share the same tower as you. Typically, in a big crowded metropolitan area, speeds are lower. My HSPA+ speed rarely exceeds 1mbps. Often in low 100kbps range.
That's why if you want speed, LTE is the only way to go. Even without counting on future proof, the fact that very few ppl are using the separate LTE network (no, it doesn't share the same network as HSPA+) at this time.

That's unfortunate. I'm afraid I may be int he same boat. I don't feel I need LTE, but I need more than what my Captivate is giving me.
In DFW I usually get 6-8 mbps down and 1 up on my GNote.
On my skyrocket, which is LTE, I get 30-60 down and 10 to 15 up.

You should read this. Should answer all your speed questions quite definitively!
I typically get this sort of speed on H+
Something must happened with AT&T in South Orange County, California, I used to achieve max 1.3 - 2 mbps, right now I am consistent and getting 3.2 and sometimes in some places even higher, the highest so far that I achieved was in Huntington Beach Home Depot parking lot ;-) 5.7 mbps.
Best speeds I got at the end of my driveway, just north of Baltimore, MD was 8mbps down and 2.5mbps up. But my average is more like 4 down and 1.5 up. I'm using an ATT iPad Unlimited Micro-SIM card.
Never has speed issues with my Note on ATT. Here's a recent test.

Ah that's a little more interesting, reception quality is a bit shoddy imho, but if you geta HD signal, it's crystal clear, the problem is I can't work out how it sometimes works and other times doesn't, it can sometimes do a weird under water sound effect when not on HD.
Hi, on Optus 4G Band 3 (1800MHz) here in Australia, sometimes it goes down to 17ms which seems to be the fairly low ping
Locally I usually get around 100mbps, maybe a bit more on a good day.
