What do you want to see or not see in RoyalGinger V1.5?
Like I said in the actual RoyalGinger thread on the Development page we wanted to pull the community and see what you guys like and dont like and what you want to see and what you dont want to see. I know at least for me I might try other Roms especially for testing but I always come back to RoyalGinger, This little red head has in my opinion everything a Rom needs and everything a Rom user wants. So just to make it more of the Peoples Rom we wanted to see what you guys like and what you guys dont like.
So please keep it short and simple if you want to see a specific thing like a Theme or a Mod please include the link to the thread.
It will help us find what we are looking for and get to making your wishes happen. If you want something just let us know we will honestly try our hardest to meet every wish of the community for V1.5. If we dont get your idea into 1.5 I will let you know and let you know if it is possible and if it will be coming on a later release.
Thank You all for your support.

Do you mean the stock clock that flips with the Weather? if so I cant include the one made by HTC cause that is a Sense Only item and it is not Open Source, But I am pretty sure I can accommodate your request with something. So great suggestion it will be in the next release.

Yes, it is that one. No wonder the question has been asked a few times on the net (when I Googled) and no one seems to know.
Ok, no problem. There are a few other apps out there that are similar. But not quite. Thanks though.
Top request if at all possible would be the original camera. Picture quality is better and speed is wayyyy faster.
DSP Manager
Car Dock (even though it’s available as apks)
Genius Button (I personally like it)
Ability to mute camera sound

That's another great idea. I have been working on that already and yes that will be in the next release.

Personally, I like this Rom as is... Though I moved on to using Royal Mint as my daily just because of the sense look... Love the work TeamRoyal... I have the zip, and a backup with all my most used apps for EVERY Rom I have ran across with the TeamRoyal name on it...

1. Ability to receive MMS view like on stock froyo.
I hit download, and it rarely works. Stock it normally already has picture showing, instead of hitting download.
2. A big pickup, although i don't think it is possible, would be to add date along with clock in status bar.
3. Calendar similar to stock calendar, which is default month view.
4. I love the themes with battery display % options.
BTW, you guys are most excellent!
royalknight, hope you gets to feeling better, brohim....
all in all, fantastic rom, but.... (and since you're asking), this is what i would like added:
(1) stock mt4g calendar (pink in color i believe) because there's more options than the one included with RG (ie. ability to have agenda view when executed). if it's tied to sense and can't be ported to RG, then no worries.
(2) use of the genius button with dragon dictation (already mentioned). i'm not sure if i'm the minority here, but i used that app a lot.
(3) desk dock/car dock (already mentioned).
(4) stock camera (already mentioned).
not sure if there's anything else that this rom needs as i'm sure the more you add, the better chance it will become slower...
The problem with the "stock" apps you are all referring to from the original rom, is that they require sense frameworks to function. Unless HTC open sources sense, we may never be able to make it happen. (doesn't mean we can't try )
I think this should stay as close to stock Google as possible.
By trying to add in all this sense stuff... why don't you guys just use a sense rom and install the gingerbread launcher. That's basically what you want this rom to be.
I enjoy this rom because of how minimal it is. Please keep sense junk out.

People's request in AOSP roms are always sense related add on's. Launcher pro has some good alternatives for sense widgets and so forth. But I agree, keep this rom bare and clean in AOSP standards. Although I would like it if you guys added Torch app back on
And I do have a question, I love the rover theme included, but I feel like that actual battery percentage decreases my battery life by a lot everytime I use that theme. Any way you can take out that battery percentage out in the middle of that circle?

The battery life decreases due to the broadcast message required every time it changes a percentage and has to call a new image to be displayed.

man bummer... i love that theme but thats a killer for me. anyway you knwo how to take it out?
A completely blacked out (inverted them would be really nice) Kind of like the the terminal settigns, but with maybe more feel and texture than those. I do a lot of night use, that would be good. I like the terminal ones, but some things completely get lost in the transition. Now I am asking for too much!
This rom is so customizable, and now that I have a clean install, the fc have for the most part disappeared, and I have not even thought about flashing stock, like I normally did.

10-4, just wasn't sure how feasible it was... it's not a deal breaker if none of those happen, but he asked... have a good one, option...
thought the stock camera was a part of the sense framework as well, could be wrong.
My main request is to have a ROM specific theme. I switch ROMs a lot and after flashing lots of ROMs now on different phones (I'm the go-to guy at work now), I like the aesthetic touches a lot of devs put on their ROMs. You guys are adding more and more tweaks in this regard, so I doubt this even needs to be a request, but it's really cool to see those extra touches. After seeing gingerbread on so many different phones now, I've come to learn how unimpressive it is visually. Using the theme engine could then satisfy the themers out there, giving them the option to use what they want, but allow you guys to offer the Royal Theme that makes the ROM your own. I've also seen things like boot animation/fonts/optional app install scripts written into the settings. Things like that offer customization within the ROM and help it to stand out from AOSP GB.
Hello,
Is it possible to run games in fullscreen mode, hiding the navigation bar, with a stock but unlocked and rooted N4?
I say that because i´ve seen custom roms with option to hide navigation bar.
Their are a few apps that do this with rooted phones.
Look on Google play

Add this line to the end of the build.prop and use LMT Launcher found on XDA.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
This will remove the navbar.

It makes no sense to root nexus. If you want to modify your phone find a ROM that suits you. Otherwise you'll be dealing with a bunch of petty hacks.
That lmt thing plus mainkeys=1 for instance. Who does that? Who buys a flagship phone and ****s it up like that, makes it unusable for regular use.
If you want full screen for games you want to make sure of two things: it must be easily switchable off, you need pie for navigation, which at this point is standard for pretty much all ROMs.

No sens to root nexus if i dont use a custom rom?
I dont see this way.
Many apps only runs in rooted phones, so i must root. I prefer using customs rom and kernel.
Thank you for the tips.
The easiest way is to install ParanoidAndroid
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
try this app out. i use it only when i playing games. you can enable and disable it whenever you want. since i hate the buttons on screen when playing games and i dont care for pie, this is the best option imo. it will show a little button in the bottom left or right hand corner (your choice) then you can set the button so when you click it, it will go back and if you hold the button then it will disable the full screen mode. its pretty awesome when playing games.

i meant rooting stock. if you use a rom you don't have these issues because all roms are equipped for fullscreen/gaming.
roms are rooted by default so that goes without saying.

Came from Iphone where you can use camera even from a passcode-locked lockscreen. All the answers on the net require a NON-passcode locked lockscreen to get to the camera.

I think this is a limitation from Touchwiz. I don't have CM on my phone atm to confirm, but I know that the lockscreen Pin lock behavior is different on the Nexus 7. Meaning the key difference is the fact that on my Nexus 7 I can still use other widgets (Google Now or HD Widgets) on the Pin lock, whereas SGS4 TW does not allow that...
Nope. Wrong. Try adding a passcode and then try adding a camera widget.

Right, but is there a ROM or tool to make this work on a Galaxy S4? captivatingtab did you try this on your tab or S4? Also I don't use Touchwiz, I use Nova, which still has this limitation-- so I think it's the ATT Samsung ROM.
It amazes me that ATT/Samsung/Google could put out a ROM that (at least for me) is so buggy and misses key features. Don't want to get into the host of bugs I've found, just trying to get to camera quickly...

It is the problem with Touchwiz, no matter what custom launcher you run, Lockscreen is still controlled by Touchwiz. Nova(or any other launcher) only replaces the default Touch wiz launchers Touchwiz Home or Easy Launcher, so you are still using Touchwiz with Nova installed, just not the launcher it provides.
This is a Touchwiz problem, having used an HTC One you can access 4 different apps including the Camera from the lock screen as your dock is visible on the lock screen.
If you flash a AOSP rom this problem will most likely go away.

There is an alternative lock screen app called LockerPro in the Play store does what you ask, as well a providing lock screen notifications. I think you may still need to enter your PIN before accessing the camera if the timeout has expired, but its still a shortcut. There is a free version called LockerPro Lite that you can try out.

Sorry you are right, this thread belongs in Q&A.
I tried lockerpro, it doesn't work unless you enter pin as well. Thanks for information, looks like Touchwiz is way behind times-- Iphone has had this for a while, and even before it was on IOS there were Cydia apps that could do this. I'm astonished Android can't do this.
So I guess I have to throw out the AT&T ROM to get rid of Touchwiz?
I have to agree with the OP. I came from an iPhone, and I actually like touchwiz. But not having the ability to use lockscreen widgets with security options is pretty ridiculous.
It should be the users choice to have certain functions available without a password/lock. I understand Samsung attempted to make the device more secure and prevent "uninformed" users from making mistakes; but It should be our choice what we put out there. IMHO.
I not a developer by far, and a long-time lurker of XDA, I wish I had the ability to change Touchwiz to include this.

Lets clear some things up...
First and foremost, Touchwiz is the name of the User Interface that we see. Its not an application, it is not a launcher (Nova) or anything, just the User Interface. With that said, Touchwiz features are the extra gimmicks added to the phone like Air View and whatnot. This is the ROM given by Samsung as stock, it has nothing to do with Android itself. So comparing Apple to Oranges (Samsung) is different than comparing iOS to Android (which you are not doing).
So "being behind on times" has nothing to do with Android itself. If you were to load a AOSP (Android Open Source Project) ROM is it the same? Running AOSP on the phone is a different experience than running Touchwiz. It is closer to the Nexus stock experience than using Samsung stock ROM and is what Google wants as Android. So if you want to compare Android and state that your astonished it doesn't do something, then test it on AOSP based ROM and see if Android could do it.
As it has been confirmed anyways that what you want can be done running an AOSP ROM...

nakedninja42 you are absolutely correct, thanks. I should say that I'm astonished that Samsung wouldn't offer this on their ROM.
Having said that, and maybe off-topic, my conclusion in moving from Apple to Android is Google allows far too much modification from the manufacturers and carriers to ensure a consistently good experience. Perhaps that's the nature of its open-source approach, but man has it been a massive pain trying to get a quality experience. Bluetooth problems, terrible lag, inconsistent application of UI rules, terrible battery drain-- in exchange for a more open environment (which, yes, is very important to me). Jury is out, I'm still trying to find a good working environment, not giving up yet.

But as the consumer you have the choice on what you buy. If you want something that has X set of features you can buy it (Nexus for example), if you want other features you buy a different phone. This is not unlike buying a car - most cars (these days) have Bluetooth, but the implementations vary greatly.
You bought a phone with Android, and most stores let you compare dozens of models side by side. If Camera on the lock screen is a requirement, it is easy to test drive to find one that supports this.
My phone is rooted and stock - it has no lag and works fantastically well with superior battery life to any smartphone i have owned. Touchwiz is not perfect, but neither is stock android IMO.
Yes, this is off topic, but the point is that if you want only one way to do something, and only one way, then Apple is for you. I recommend iphones to the technically challenged and older people - they can't get lost. The home button is always there and bails them out from any screen. And I can always help them get to settings and menus are 100% consistent. These people don't want widgets and don't want to do any customization, they want simple consistent experience. Android gives choices and that may mean that one phone has a feature that another phone does not. But then there are 3rd party apps that usually step in to fix things.
Widget locker may let you put the camera on the lockscreen - has anyone tried that?

The nature of the game... Open-Source...
I haven't had any battery drains... in fact when I go to bed at night, I have ~50% left with the same usage I had on the S3 @ 10%. GoldenEye ROM solved all my other qualms with TouchWiz. I did find it annoying that I cannot use my widgets on the lockscreen that I removed my pattern/pin lock. I generally prefer running AOSP ROMs like CyanogenMOD, but I am waiting for the release of the Google SGS4 to see if the stability improves.
Yes I am waiting for the Google S4 ROM as well. I have CM on all my HP Touchpads so am a bit leary of quality of the device drivers for S4 at this point. The official Google version will fix that.
Theoretically, couldn't someone just find the files for the lockscreen and edit the code to allow it? I mean, it's like natively there already - right?
I haven't tried any custom ROMs, in fact i am pretty close to what the OP is describing, coming from an iPhone and having the learning experience. But I am really bummed I can't do it. lol
So bottom line is there any ROM that will allow the use of camera shortcuts or lockscreen widgets while having a secure lockscreen?

Theoretically, yes. I am interested in this myself. I started programming a year ago and haven't had time to learn the ends and outs for Android to try yet. I am hoping someone with greater talents might be able to do it...
Hey all!
I like my G2 and I like where the development for this phone is going!
We all like too custom roms, custom kernels and tweaking/modding.
However, I can see there's a lot of aspects of this phone that has not been tweaked, modified, played with etc...
Mainly I can think of:
1-Quickwindow enhancements:
Maybe make it show more widgets, make it show all notifications (maybe the notification bar), can assign actions to cover flip on and off, etc... I a sure our great developers can look into it.
2-Qslide apps
As you know, Qslide apps are limited to little number of apps. I think this can be exploited somehow to be able to run any app in that mode!
3-You can think of anything else besides rom and kernel!
Sorry for mentioning you our great developers (between other of course) but I would like this issue to be looked at, at least.
@Wootever, @houstonn, @StarFighter, @[vertigo], @g.lewarne, @Heatshiver, @xdabbeb, @BlackDino, @rohan32, @Gerrett, etc...
Thanks all!
i did start a thread about dual booting roms as i previously had that on my samsung s2 and really miss having my daily driver rom on all day n simply switch to test rom when needed or have time to find bugs/test
we have a good amount of devs but yes development is kind of slow, probably due to kitkat or whatever reason
for now stock rom with a lil tweaking is working good for me having all features available with no problems, still miss taking part in helping devs test stuff out
A dark/white theme rom would be great. I know that LG G2 is already mostly white but it be really nice to have that type of color scheme.

Hey guys,
Been wanting to test out a stock AOSP rom, but am sure I will loose my s-view cover features due to it, so been wondering if there are any alternative apps that can simulate the usability of it like on GE or stock Samsung roms.
I have been using a few apps from the play store but are not the same as it seems they use the proximity sensor. But heck did not tried on stock android so who know.
Would like to hear what are your thoughts regarding this.
Thanks for the heads-up
