[Q][Help]S4 stuck in "Recovery Booting..." or normal Boot Screen. Help Appreciated
Hey Guys,
i´m new here and my English isnt the best. I´ll try to Explain my steps, maybe someone can help me.
First of all, i have an Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE (Germany). Since i´ve had some issues with stock rom i wanted to have a look with some Custom Roms.
The first Rom was
- CyanogenMod 10.2 Nightlies
and the first Recovery was twrp-2.6.0.0.jfltexx
Well it was fine but i had issues with my Bluetooth Connection and some othe weird ones.. ok i found this one
- FoxHound GearEngine 1.6 AROMA | Themed | Smooth | Clean | Hybrid
and thought i can risk it to change. I flashed the Rom via twrp (and followed the steps for installation) but All i was able is getting into Factory Mode. Ok. Tried some thing (thx tosamersh72) but it still remains booting into Factory Mode.
As far as i read, most of them used Philz_Recovery. So i downloaded the newest Version for my Device and flashed it via Odin 3.
And from now on i wasnt able to boot into Android. If i boot into Philz Recovery it stucks with "Recovery Booting..." and nothing happens.
If i flash twrp again im able to boot into it an reflash a Rom. But these gettin stuck at Boot Screen (Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505).
I tried to reinstall Stock rom via Kies but kies keep saying "unexpected Error".
Well, i think i messed it up
My Steps:
- Flash twrp
- install CyanogenMod 10.2 Nightlies (works for about 2 weeks)
- wipe (factory reset) + Advanced via twrp
- install Foxhound 1.6
- reinstall Foxhound 1.6(like written on his Homepage)
- reinstall Foxhound 1.6 with a different kernel (Abyss)
- reinstall Foxhound 1.6 with a different kernel (Faux)
- wipe and flash Philz (Recovery Booting for almost 40min)
- flash twrp and install Foxhound 1.5 (from now on no boot into Android)
- reinstall Foxhound 1.6 (still no boot into Android)
- wipe (factory reset) + Advanced via twrp
- install CyanogenMod 10.2 Nightlies
- wipe (factory reset) + Advanced via twrp
- reinstall Foxhound 1.6 (still no boot into Android)
- wipe and flash Philz (Recovery Booting...)
- me gettin Crazy
I dont know if i forgot Something...
I hope someone can help me
Thanks & Best regards
Sloby
hey mate,
i think you must have had an bad flash, this happens sometimes, dont know why really..
does it boot into Download Mode? (vol-down + home + power)
if so, here is what i would have done:
flash a stock samsung rom with Odin (not kies, i think kies needs your phone to be fully turned on for it to work)
you can grab a firmware from sammobile.com (might need to register an user)
just select the right phonemodel and your region/country and download the latest and greatest and that should fix your problem.

[Q] [Q} Cant enter recovery mode

Hello,
I'm having trouble entering recovery mode on my s4 i9505, did it several times but now it goesn't go further. I have already installed some custom ROMs and have root access. I'm on Stock ROM and now he does not come over in Recovery mode, only in downloading mode. Every time I try to enter recovery mode by pressing Volume Up + MENU + POWER it appears in the upper left corner in small print the message "Recovery booting ..." and soon after it restarts and connects the phone normally, without having entered into Recovery mode.
Do you test to flash your recovery ( maybe another one ) again with Odin?

What?
From what recovery you are talking? The original Samsung recovery or a custom recovery ? You talk about you use some custom roms, so I think you use a custom recovery?
If yes you can reflash it with Odin ( recoverys like cwm / twrp )

I have CWM in my phone, but i cant use it, because i cant get into recovery mode.
Do you test to boot from your phone to recover with a app like quick boot? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot&hl=de
If this not works too it could be you recovery is broken, why ever.
You can download the cwm tar here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41438707 and flash it with Odin, I think this would bring it back for you.
If it work you can update to the latest one you see it in the thread and there http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager

Phone stuck on Samsung logo after failed ROM flash

Hello everyone, I wanted to flash a ROM to my Galaxy S4 i9505. I first rooted it like described in this tutorial. That went all ok.
After that I downloaded this and tried to flash using Odin Mobile. It rebooted to some sort of recovery, wiped data, cache etc. and then it wrote some error.
After that, I am stuck at the Samsung logo and can't boot into android. I can't also enter recovery, when i hold the buttons, it boots and there is written BOOTING RECOVERY (in the left top corner) but after that it goes to the Samsung logo again.
I can still get into Download mode. If anyone could help with this I would be really grateful.

Hi mate,
Why you flashed a custom rom with Odin mobile???
Go into recovery and do a factory reset try to reboot and see if it works if not....
Go to recovery do a factory reset ...and flash rom from there ( did you installed a custom recovery?)
If no working ..go to recovery do a factory reset ...download a stock rom ( sammobile) download Odin ( not odin mobile) flash stock rom...
Then you can root , install custom recovery and flash custom rom from there...
I did try to install the recovery using odin (this one), but when i rebooted there was the default recovery So after that i decided to flash the rom using odin mobile (and that got me here).
Can i install custom recovery with firmware ending with GNG8? I had 4.4.2 stock before this.

Hi
What odin did you use to flash the custom recovery? it should work, you can also try TWRP recovery
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/182
Do not use odin mobile go with the pc type
You can install a custom rom...but you need a custom recovery

Thanks for the tip, I installed it through Odin 3.09, first I got stuck on booting into recovery, but on the second try I kept holding the volume up only after phone logo appeared and now I am in the TWRP.
Reseting the phone now and I will install the rom after that. Thanks again, hope it will succeed now.

After cyanogen factory reset, phone does not start even on recovery mode

Hi,
I have Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500.
I installed Cyanogen latest nightly build. Cyanogen worked perfect. I reset to factory settings from Cyanogen's settings. But after that:
- I can not open the phone's recovery (volumeup + home +power)
- I can not start operating system.
On both theese actions "Samsung" logo appears for 3 seconds, but after nothing is happening. Black screen stucks.
I look from eclipse logcat's, there is no log from phone. because OS did not started.
I tried to re-install clockwork (exatly with same files), but did not changed anything. I am not getting errors or even warning.
I will be happy if you can help me.
Thank you
Are you able to get into download mode (volume down, home, power)? If so, flash a stock ROM using Odin. If the S4 works after flashing the stock ROM, install TWRP recovery and then install Cyanogenmod.
P. S. You want to install TWRP as Clockworkmod is no longer being updated.
Hi,
had the problem of not getting into recovery at all randomly. Shutting down the phone, removing the battery and leaving the phone untouched for about half an hour helped me to enter recovery.

Hi,
I try these: I wait for 1 night by putting out the battery, also I restart the phone million times. But nothing changed.

I did not try to install different recovery software. Because Clockworkmod is already worked for the first time.
I will try to install other recovery softwares and I will write the results here.
Thank you

I solve my problem by installing TWRP recovery. I could not understand how Clockworkmod stoped to work itself by doing nothing.
Thank you for your interest.
Clockworkmod is no longer maintained and doesn't recognize some coding in recent updater scripts included with ROMs. That is why it fails while TWRP succeeds.
