So I just got the fire from the States in Uk I want to download apps from amazon app store but it says not avaliable in your region yet is there any way around this? Sorry if this has alrea.dy been answered
You need to set up amazon account with USA address to be able to download apps from amazon

There must be another way around it maybe in time when they launch in UK it will work now I need to get a custom Rom on here.
For free apps setup a fake real address - mine is a McDonalds somewhere in Chicago.
Set your one click payment to Mastercard 5555555555554444 Exp 12/12
(It's a test number for system checks)
Buy free apps
No VPN required or custom ROM. I used this for free books when Kindle was US only and have used it for apps since. I found back then that if you gift yourself Amazon Gift Cards in USD you could use them to buy Kindle books (Note: now no geo restrictions on books, just apps) I suspect it will probably work with apps now but haven't had cause to use it.
Or just use the Android Market - rooting is dead easy.
I bought my Nexus 7 a month ago and successfully activated it to receive the 25$ credit.
I used 12$ out of the 25$ and then didn't purchase anything for a week or two.
Today I wanted to purchase an app with my remaining 13$ and I noticed the Google Play credit payment method is greyed out and I can't use it.
This is what it says:"This payment method cannot be used for this purchase (RBC)" .
Searched everywhere... didn't see a similar report.
Tried purchasing other apps... to check if it's something specific...
Also tried to purchase apps with my Nexus S... greyed out there as well.
Anyone has an idea why this happened or how to solve it?
As far as I know, the only restrictions are that it cannot be hardware (ie: Nexus 7, GNex, N7 case)
Same problem here...
Same here. First order went fine, but now it's greyed out. FYI, I'm using my tablet outside US, tried both local IP and US based VPN, and neither has worked.
I have the same problem. I think google made it impossible to use the money when you are not from the USA. I saw that all the guys that posted in this thread are from outside the USA.

Im outside us and i can use it just fine, only problem i had was when the app price was in a different currency it would allow me to purchase it with the credit but i could bypass it using orbot
i am outside USA but I used a VPN for the IP and market enabler for the currency and it didn't help.
I emailed Google about it... I hope they'll respond.

I am just having exactly the same issue. The worst is I dun even spent one buck yet...Tried a lot of time / method but still failed..:crying:
Yap..encounter the same problem..
It happened to me too. Didn't even get a chance to use my $25 at all
Hope there's a workaround for this..
Same issue here and I'm in Canada...
Hopefully someone will have the solution to this..
Same here. I wonder what the (RBC) error code could mean? I can still purchase apps on the device using my cc, but I've found that I also have a problem buying from the Play store on the web today. Neither my N7 store credit, nor my regular cc are working on the Play Store web site. Trying to purchase anything that way yields a Google Wallet error. Both of these payment methods show up just fine in the Google Wallet settings. Weird.
I've emailed Google about the problem and will report back if I hear anything. BTW, I'm in Australia and I bought my N7 through the Play store.
Same thing here (in the Netherlands, Nexus 7 running PA 1.99 shipped from the USA and an HTC One X running CM10). I have used the credit before to purchase an app, so it's a recent change. Uninstalling updates to Google Play and clearing data has no effect. Orbot returns an error when trying to start transparent proxying, no luck using that either.
Purchasing apps using a credit card is working just fine.
EDIT: Got Orbot to work by using the default iptables, but no luck. Play credit is still greyed out.
Hi,
I am from India, and i got the 25$ credit by entering actual CC info and some random US zipcode and phone. Now when i try to buy an app using the credit i am getting the same greyed out(RBC) error. Any solutions?

How could google take away the credit from us? It's like they gave us something and now they want it back. What about those who had already spent the $25 earlier on. It's unfair.
i'd spent £0.60 two weeks ago and mine still available. if it makes any difference bought and used in the UK.

Same problem here. I dont think it is related to location.
I was in the US last week. Bought the Nexus 7 and activated to get $25 credit. However, whatever I tried to purchase, it would not let me use the credit. I tried different apps, books, movie and music.
However, have come back to Japan now. Hope this gets resolved soon.
How to buy and install full versions of apps when living in Taiwan? Google playstore refusing sale of pro version in Taiwan
Too bad Google is becoming a corporate monster that believes it has the right to withhold your pro version from it's android users in Taiwan. Would buy it from playstore in a wink but can't.
They say it's not compatible with my nexus 7 which is a blatant lie ... they just don't want to sell it as a they don't agree with some consumer protection laws in Taiwan ... who needs protection from a corporate monster? I always believed Google had their costumer's best interest at heart ... obviously not!
It's a general thing for almost all apps ... really sad we can't use our nexus 7 to its full potential.
I think apps like market unlocker or VPN is always a good choice. There are plenty of free VPN out there. Just google it.
I used one of the free VPN to claimed my $25 without any problem, then used Market Unlocker to spent those $25 on paid applications in Google Play. So far so good.
By the way, I don't appreciate Google's attitude of thinking they should be above the local laws, either. It's their way or no way? Seriously?
I can't seem to find an answer for this in Google. Was wondering if anyone could help me figure it out.
My mother wants to buy a Nexus 10. She lives in Luxembourg, but spends about 2 months every year visiting us in the US. (She is here now, preparing to buy tablet). She wants to access the US Play Store, both here and at home in Lux. Is this possible? What would we need to do it set it up that way? Is using a US credit card enough or are we going to need some kind of Market Enabler app? VPN/Proxy?
Thanks!

You would be able to access the playstore from most countries. The country would remain the one to which your google account is linked and I guess so will the currency.
For example, google movies weren't available where I live around till a month ago. They wouldn't show up on my play store earlier. However, they would show up on my sister's playstore when she visited from London. In simple terms, she was accessing Playstore UK from New Delhi, India.
In answer to the question about the US playstore regarding your mum's tab, I guess you will have to buy a tablet preferably with a US credit card (though this might be overlooked) and definately register it to a US based gmail account. Be sure to register a credit card on the playstore and google account which works in the US.

I'm afraid the above answer may be wrong; it certainly is for Google Play Books. I live in the US, have an Android tablet (Asus TF101 running a Jellybean ROM, tested and working fine with Google Play and with numerous purchases in the US), and it was activated and regularly used for well over a year in the US. My Google account to which it is linked has been used regularly in the US for quite a few years. And to top it all off, the account is linked to a credit card issued in the US, by a US credit union.
Despite all of the above, when I went to purchase a book while travelling overseas on a two week vacation recently, the purchase was denied on the grounds that I was not in the US. It may work briefly, I don't know; I'd been overseas for maybe 9-10 days when I tried the purchase.
However, it was utter childs' play to circumvent this. All I had to do was buy VPN access (it so happens I already had it), go in through the VPN to get a US IP address, and hey presto... The Play store let me make the very same book purchase it had just refused me.
So yes, a VPN is the answer. I used WiTopia, which is US$50 annually or US$6 per month.

This thread might make clearer which credit card to use. You can read the credit card related part.
As for the reply by the person above me, as he has tried purchasing from google playstore while travelling he might have a better idea about that, though I am sure US playstore, movies, music, books etc would be available to you abroad as UK playstore is for my sister. As per what he says, buying from them might be a problem.

Oh, yes. They're available abroad, they just don't let you buy (at least some) products.
Thanks again
When I travel led to Canada it showed me the Canadian play store and I could not access the US play store.
Got a prime membership trial so decided to take up Amazon's offer for the Fire TV @ £49.00 so now just need to wait for it to arrive which is a while to go.
Has anyone else pulled the trigger and brought one of these from the UK store yet?
At £49 it was rude not to Can't wait to get it plumbed in, currently using a WDTV or PS3 for my netflixing and Amazon prime.
Hopefully it will work with usa content with unotelly and or a usa Amazon account will be a bit disappointed if it's uk content or nothing
Ordered -D,
Will try Root, and then either unotelly/VPN to usa to get us content (private owned vpn FAST )
There's some talk of a new currently unrootable firmware version 51.1.2.0
I wonder if the UK ones have this version already installed....
I will post this in here as-well
I decided to send them an email regarding the "region change" of the existing USA Fire TV's,
I asked for my message to be forwarded onto the relevant team involved with the Fire TV for a more appropriate response,
Take of this what you will but they have told me that it will be possible, First you will need to migrate your account, Any purchases made will also transfer, Then once the device has launched in your country, in this case the UK you then need to look out for a firmware update.
They say they will put it up on their help pages.
So that's good news, Sad that it will be a firmware update but not unexpected, Guess I will wait till the time comes and consider my options. At this stage I could not give up my root
Craig
So it looks like then if we have a USA or UK amazon account then it will follow that which is cool as I have 2 accounts on amazon for each country in question.
Saw spotify on the UK amazon page but not on the USA one though??
I have bought one and i have one from US and i am using unblock us snd i have netflix.hulu.nbc sports extra.fox soccer.bein sports. Premier league pass and xbmc all working perfectly. The only reason you would change to UK one is to chsnge the time settings .

You have 2 options, you can purchase Plex with your UK Amazon account (I used the voice search to find it) or if you want the latest version of Plex you can download it and side load it onto the Fire TV. The benefit of purchasing the app through Amazon is that you can then access Plex from the top Amazon menu's - if it is side loaded you have go delving into a few sub menus to get to it.
I first side loaded the app, but have since purchased the app.

Thats a shame. Oh well.
Im definitely looking at one for me old man though, just for XBMC.
Hoping they get iPlayer integrated for it by release, and of course a rootable FW then Ill jump aboard as well. Cracking piece of kit the more I look at it.
I bought one of these to use xbmc on but now that i see spmc is on the amazon app store i will try that first. From what i've read it is an xbmc fork so addons will work and it can be updated through the amazon store.
