Great, thanks. Two questions though.
1. Does this void warranty?
2. Will OTA's still work?
1. If you unlock bootloader and flash back stock recovery, no...
2. No OTA with cwm-recovery...
... send from hell... hahahaaaa...
Thanks for this. There is a small error in the first command however. The first command for unlock should be "fastboot oem unlock [your unlock code]" The other instructions are fine.
it asks me for ID not working..
edit finally got it !!

From what I have read, Unlock bootloader, install CWM, root, then install stock recovery and OTA will still work.
Hope thats right, my M7 is still on its way to me!
Why so much stress, but the flash. News and Root.

Hi all,
followed the guide (with some adjustments) and I got everything working.
CM and rooting.
Now I have a question : I still have OTA asking me to update (before rooting the update was already present and I even started the download, like up to 10%). Is it safe to do it? will the update leave the phone rooted or not?
thanks!

If you have custom recovery installed, you need to re-install stock recovery first, otherwise the update.zip file doesn' t install. After installation of the update well...depends...someone is stating that root still remains, other not...
Personally I lost the root, but followed the procedure and obtained the root again. Simple.

Pleae mail to [email protected], We'll respond to you as soon as possible, thanks." I have wrote to Huawei, in short email they explained this model is not supported for unlocking directly from them and advise me to search other methods on my own risk. Please any help or advise what should I do to unlock the bootloader, ROOT and install CWM?

Hi...
This is the tutorial to root any Moto G
To root any Moto G, three basic steps need to be followed... you can either do them manually or use a tool do them for you. It is advised to follow them manually so that if there's some bug in the tool you don't get into any trouble.
CAUTION - You will lose all data and files so better back them up.
For Google Play edition devices, the process is same and only the recovery.img file is different. For GPe CWM Advanced Edition recovery go here https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/ and select falcon_gpe and download the latest one.
For AT&T and Verizon models don't do anything written above. Just download the Towelroot app. Its a one click root app and doesn't require a PC. Itis trustworthy but is not guaranteed to work but you must give it a try since it won't do any harm and claims of never bricking a phone. Please reply with the result and your android and kernel version. It will probably not work on phones build after June 3 but you can give it a try. You can download it from the website https://towelroot.com
The three steps are :-
1) UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER
2) FLASHING CUSTOM RECOVERY
3) INSTALLING SuperSu.zip FILE THROUGH RECOVERY. (SuperSu is acknowledge as the best app to give superuser and root rights)
UNLOCKING THE BOOT LOADER - The instructions to unlock the boot loader are given in the official Motorola website here https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a . Don't be scared by their warnings.
UPDATE - There currently seems to be an issue with unlocking the bootloader on devices running 4.4.4 though it works for 4.4.2. The issue is with Motorola and is that, the unlock code given by the company is showing an error. They are fixing it and it may take some time though you can give it a try as it won't do any harm. Or you can downgrade the boot loader to 4.4.2 and then unlock it.
As confirmed by the Motorola agent, the problem of unlocking bootloader on 4.4.4 has been fixed
FLASHING CUSTOM RECOVERY :-
To flash a custom recovery, you need these things
1) PC and a USB data cable
2) Android SDK ( developer.android.com/sdk/index.html ) For flashing recovery only SDK is needed but it's your wish if you want to download the ADT bundle. After downloading and unzipping the sdk , open the SDK manager and download only the platform tools for this.. rest is your wish..... and separately download ADB tools and fastboot and extract them minimal-adb-and-fastboot.software.informer.com/1.1/
3) Recovery.img file - You can either use CWM foum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563599 or CWM advanced editionforum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639583 or TWRP forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2561757. EDIT - If your phone had come pre installed with 4.4.4 then use only CWM Advanced Edition. CWM Advanced Edition doesn't make backup on XT1033
4) Motorola drivers https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/97326/p/30,6720,9050
5) Enable USB Debugging mode in your phone by going to Settings-About Phone and then tap the build number until you get the toast 'You are a developer'. Now go to Settings again and you will see a new Developer Options there. Go there and enable USB debugging.
6) Have at least 25% of charge on your phone.
After getting all these things:-
1) Download the recovery.img file to your PC and copy paste it to android SDK/platform tools folder.
2) Boot your phone to fastboot mode by first switching it off and holding the volume down and power button for 3 seconds.
3) When in fastboot mode, connect your phone to pc, go to the platform tools folder, there pres shifft and right mouse click simultaneously and select 'open command prompt window here'.
4) In the command window enter
Code:
fastboot devices
If it shows a number and fastboot then we are good..
5) Then enter
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
( where in recovery.img the recovery is the name of your recovery file. Example if the name of recovery file is ABC then enter fastboot flash recovery ABC.img)
5) Press enter and if the command prompt window displays the message okay then the recovery is successfully flashed.
6) Now just boot your phone to recovery mode through fastboot mode by following the on screen instructions and in recovery mode select Reboot System Now to reboot your phone normally.
(see attached images below for screenshots)
INSTALLING SuperSu
To install SuperSu :-
1) Download SuperSu zip file download.chainfire.eu/452/SuperSU/ and transfer it to your phone
2) Reboot to recovery via fastboot.
3) Select install zip and select choose from SD card.
4) Locate the file and install it.
5) Now reboot your phone.
YUP.. YOU ROOTED YOUR PHONE!
Download any root checker app from the Play Store to check whether your phone is rooted or not.

The only thing why I haven't bought the g for myself as well is the rooting. That time I didn't find an easy way to root it.
If it is a working method than I will buy the 4g verson with sd card support

I looked into it just now... Currently there's an issue with Motorola with unlocking the bootloader when on 4.4.4...As people say, the unlock code given my Motorola is showing an error... You can still try it.. maybe it's even fixed by now.. Even if it fails there wouldn't be any harm.. Though the unlocking works fine with 4.4.2... You can revert back to 4.4.2, unlock the bootloader and then update to 4.4.4... The thing will be same as you will lose all data and files when unlocking the bootloader and so in reverting to 4.4.2.....(Remember, only unlocking doesn't mean you won't recieve updates, you won't receive updates only if you flash a custom recovery.)
EDIT - I added it to the OP. Thanks for bringing it to attention.

You have Verizon I see. The only you will probably face is unlocking the bootloader.. Oh, wait first let me laugh... lol...OK....At one point of time you couldn't unlock the bootloaders for AT&T and Verizon and then we were blessed by the 'one click root' app by the famous hacker geohot called TowelRoot. This app claims to root all the AT&T and Verizon devices with just a click. You don't even need a PC. Just download the app and in the app chick 'make it rain'. Though this is not guaranteed to work but must give a try as it won't do any harm but there's a chance of bricking the phone but you can easily recover from a soft brick by flashing the stock firmware.
Towelroot - https://towelroot.com/
P.S. - Please reply if you tried this and if it didn't work reply with your android version and kernel version. Well reply with your android version and kernel version anyway.
Edit- I added it to the OP

Yeah they say, if you on 4.4.4 and want to unlock your bootloader you have to flash the motoboot_testdrive.img file wich downgrades the bootloader to i think it was called 40.15 or so after that you have to unlock your bootloader and then flash the motoboot 4.4.4 stock image so that you have the actual one but for me it failed while i try to flash this testdrive image

So basically you want to downgrade the bootloader and then unlock it?
Well if you are on KitKat you can downgrade the bootloader by flashing 4.3 , then unlocking the bootloader and then updating to KitKat

This method described below is outdated and following the guide might end in a bootloop if users are currently using the latest firmware.
This is a guide on how to root the HTC One M9.
Your M9 must have an unlocked bootloader. There is currently not a way to unlock the bootloader, so unless your phone comes with an unlocked bootloader, you will need to wait until HTC updates www.htcdev.com to unlock the M9 bootloader.

FYI I'm pretty sure you can't root with the version of TWRP that's currently uploaded. It doesn't have writing to the system partition enabled. If you look in the recovery fstab, system is mounted as emmc.
You'll have to wait until an alternate version is uploaded for this to work. Someone will need to confirm whether rooting will completely break the ability to take an OTA too.
EDIT: There's also this disclaimer on the device page: "NOTE: Installing TWRP can break your ability to receive updates from HTC."
EDIT 2: The other question is whether unlocking the device will allow system to be written to at all in the OS, or only while in recovery. I think once some people have the device in their hands, some of these questions can finally be answered.

I have a t mobile M9 rooted
Hello I was able to unlock the bootloader from dev site and was able to install TWRP. I was able to install super SU and now i'm rooted!
here is my reddit post. http://www.reddit.com/r/htcone/comments/303ys2/just_got_my_hands_on_a_tmobile_htc_m9/
Worked for me
But to flash successfull recovery you have to boot to "htc download mode", the black background!
If you see white background you are on bootloader, here you are not able to flash TWRP Recovery, you will get the message "FAILED (remote: cannot flash this partition in s-on state)"
So boot to "download mode" an it work
trying this tomorrow.
Is there any way to virginize the device if I don't want it to be rooted anymore ?

One problem, TWRP can't read or write to encrypted sdcards, either internal or removable.

Three questions:
1. Do I really have to buy an SD card to do this?
2. How do you boot to download mode?
3. Should the bootloader be unlocked before or after installing TWRP and rooting, or does it not matter?
1. Every XDA developer has one..
2. Choose REBOOT from the shut down menu, then when display turns black - press and hold hardware button volume - ..
3. That will save you from frustration..

Unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP...
SuperSU 2.46 isn't getting root...
When flashing it appears to be successful...
But then when the phone reboots there is no root access...
SuperSU - gives this error
If you just upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!
Anyone else have this problem or know a workaround.

How did you install SuperSU?
I put the Zip-File on internal Storage and boot from recovery and installed it.
I did not use the way about "adb push SuperSU-v2.46.zip /sdcard" because i don't have an SD-Card at moment.

Hello, I have a P8 stuck in bootloop after failed update from HiSuite. I cannot access device recovery and can only access FastBoot & Rescue mode. I tried the instructions found here however every time cmd prompts say Failed (remote command not allowed). What can I do to unbrick this phone? I do not mind losing any data as this is my backup phone however, I wish to recover from bootloop. Help is appreciated. Sorry for noob question. Thank You so much.
I had the exact same problem and just fixed it.
If you have the product ID then you can get the boot loader unlock code from the EMUI website. As I couldn't get onto the phone this was no help. There is a product id generator using IMEI and Product model but couldn't get it although others had success.
Tried putting items on sd micro card etc all the button combos etc. But wouldn't work.
I had to download something called DC-Phoenix and pay 15 euros (£12), very wary. But downloaded the lowest firmware I could for my device B130 and then had to install through that and the usb.
I'm annoyed I had to spend money but it did work, tried looking for cracks keygens etc, so bit the bullet. I'd say try everything, but this was the way it worked. Has a backdoor built into it that changes the boot loader to unlock and does all the fast boot. I just wish someone could find what this backdoor is for the future. As of now I've made sure to get the product id and boot loader code for future problems rather than spend over and over.
Good Luck

Thank You, but I would like to use this as last resort. Are there any other possible solutions before I buy 15 (22CAD) credits?

I had similar problem only was able to access Bootloader because i wiped system with TWRP, after some hours of searching i find out that:
What you need is able to use ADB and fastboot on your pc and have a sd card, then:
1. Download HuaweiUpdateExtractor http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3262545.
2. Download any stock firmware which have UPDATE.APP file.
3. Use HuaweiUpdateExtractor and extract UPDATE.APP to a lot of smaller files.
4. Move RECOVERY.IMG to adb folder and install it through command line using adb fastboot.
5. Good job now you can use recovery again, now you need to use SD card and put a folder named dload and inside download firmware which is named UPDATE.APP
6. Reboot your phone and now hold Volum UP+DOWN+POWER and huawei recovery will begin, just dont forget to remove usb cable sometimes you get trouble when updating.
If you didn't use ADB fastboot then it will be harder to understand but you can find guides how to use it.
Hope that will help.

Hi, the website requests that I need to login to Huawei Cloud for 14days? What should I do as the phone is in bootloop and I never used Huawei Cloud (I'm in Canada and could not login with my Huawei ID) before it was bootlooped. Huawei bootloaders are really annoying...

Hi, I've tried the English website many times. I cannot get pass the Agreement part as every time it says server timeout. With the Chinese website I get to the part where I enter S/N IMEI but it requests that I log on for more than 14 days.

I fix my huawei p8 gra l09 bootloop. First download dc phoenix make sure you have user and credit 15 and 8 for hcu to repair imei. On dc phoenix download flash file on dc support GRA-Ul00 mb 630 and flash via fastboot after flash huawei boot and enable usb debu and flash full via fastboot on dc phoenix and repair imei via hcu
UPDATE: I used DC Phoenix and managed to recover my phone. The experience was smooth and easy. I would recommend this site. Well worth the $15 as I didn't have to wait 14 days for Huawei's bootloader code.
I don't have an unlocked bootloader and i flashed the CWM. Now when i try to enter the recovery mode with buttons, nothing happens just turns the phone on normally. I searched for stock recoveries, but didn't found nothing.
I have GRA-L09, B200, Europe Open
Thanks for help!
To get an unlocked bootloader you must go to settings> about phone> build number
and then press build number 7 times
after you did that exit out of about phone then click on the newly-appeared 'developer settings'
there you should find OEM Unlocking and Enable USB Debugging
You'll get it from there.
I have the Dev Ops, but don't have OEM unlock.
But shouldn't you already have an unlocked bootloader to have DevOps?
Don't know. I don't typed any code in to unlock bootloader.
Are you sure you have DevOps?
---------- Post added at 01:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:55 PM ----------
And also try to do it not with buttons, but with your computer
I don't know the script for how to boot into recovery mode but to fastboot, for example, you'd type in >fastboot
when your phone is connected to your PC via USB.
Y'know, just search up 'How to use Recovery Mode' - maybe you just did it wrong
Didn't tryed it w/ adb yet.
ADB didn't worked. I'm trying a full hard reset..
Hard reset didn't do nothing. HELP PLS!!
adb reboot-bootloader worked, but it has a subtitle: Phone Locked (with red). What is it?

That means you have a locked bootloader, so CWM didn't install successfully.
In other words, you need to unlock the bootloader first in order to successfully install CWM.
So, 1st step - visit the Huawei unlocking code request page, taking your time to fill in the form accurately & submit it.
[Btw, if you don't already have a Huawei ID, you can register for one here: http://www-file.huawei.com/en/my-huawei/register
Then use these login details in the above link to request for the unlock code]
2nd step: Once you receive the unlock code from them, use it to unlock the bootloader by issuing the following command in fastboot mode [the asterisks (*) represent your 16-digit unlock code]:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock ****************
Now you can attempt to install CWM. Where are you getting the CWM img file from?

Ok, so it appears you may have corrupted the recovery partition.
Is the phone otherwise booting into the system & functioning normally?
Also, can you tell us what you are wanting to ultimately achieve by installing CWM?
Just to confirm the bootloader is unlocked, run this command in fastboot mode & let us know the result:
Code:
fastboot oem get-bootinfo
Ok, I just read your post in the other thread about wanting to update B200 to B370.

Early flashed the CWM with flashify succesfully, but don't have unlocked bootloader. And if i try to enter recovery mode, nothing happens. Is it possible, that i cant' install it because of this?

As the guys already said, you do not need to install anything in order to update an official rom.
So, let's leave out CWM, bootloaders, etc for now, & help you update only from B200.
When you try using TopperBG's method to update, what happens?
What is your current FULL firmware version? It will be in this format: GRA-L09CxxxB200 - if everything else is as I've mentioned, I'm interested in the Cxxx part.

1. You need to install stock recovery for android 5(unlocked bootloader is required).
2. Then you can use the dload method to update.
3. You can flash TWRP after that because no-one uses CWM.

Hey Everyone...Just a question on how to root the HTC BOLT...
So I know you have to unlock the boot loader first . After this can you use Kingo Root to root your HTC BOLT, If not what files would I need then in order to root my device. Trying this out for the first time.
Are there any links that can be provided or a video perhaps to point me in the right direction?
Thanks

1. unlock via htcdev.com
2. flash twrp
3. boot into twrp
4. flash either SuperSU or Magisk (I prefer Magisk, as it can hide root status for Android Pay)
