I constantly use my tab with wifi at home and I have noticed that when my tab comes off standby (after unlocking screen) it connects to wifi, it never used to to happen. Running stock ICS, anyone started experiencing this? I think this is also why my tab runs hot and battery drains.

I think I may have solved my issue, under advance wifi settings I selected to "Always" have wifi on during sleep. My battery is not draining as much as before.

I have been having a problem with battery drain on 4.2.2 from wakelocks.
If I am away from known wifi I have no problems, but as soon as I am within range of a known wifi network the phone will no longer spend any time in deep sleep.
Also I flashed google's stock 4.2.2 rom from fastboot, it is currently unrooted with the stock kernel.
Here is what I have found so far:
-the wakelock that is occuring is suspend_backoff,
-wifi is set to always on.
-the wakelock stops as soon as wifi is turned off, and is completely unassociated with any running apps, including Chrome, it happens right from boot.
Re: [Q] 4.2.2 battery drain on WiFi
Hmmm. I'm having no issues with WiFi drain. I've been in the opposite side of my house from my router all day too.
Maybe try a re-flash.

Re: [Q] 4.2.2 battery drain on WiFi
Maybe the router? I only say this because I had on old dlink that refused to let two older android devices (tablet and phone) sleep. At work it was fine. Are you using cpuspy to confirm?

Thanks for the replies!
Originally I updated to 4.2.2 using the ota, and when I had the battery drain I wiped all partitions and reflashed everything, so I don't think that is the issue.
It may be the router, I have a Netgear, and other android and webOS devices have had problems with it... let me try using a different one.
Edit: Turns out it was the WiFi network! after switching deep sleep has started to creep back up.
Thanks for the help!

Edit: For some reason my tapatalk app randomly posted this. Weird.

Are you on WiFi? If you are, there's a wifi delay bug.

Ya I know about that. That isn't the issue. Also, when I am on WiFi and leave home my cellular network doesn't connect sometimes once I disconnect form wifi

Is it a phone or software issue?

Had the same issue. I get an error something to effect of "Wifi disconnected because internet is connection is slow". I seemed to correct it by going to Wifi advanced settings and unticking box for Always Allow Scanning and Auto Network Switch.
Is this similar to the 4.2 note 2 issues?

not really sure what the note 2 issue was?

I just upgraded my n7100 to 4.3 and the wifi bug (slows down after a while in standby) is STILL present! Is there a reason why this is never fixed?
I have tried with CM10.2 and that bug is not there.
I have same issue on 4.4.2 omnirom. So annoying.

I think that, this affects only specific models. I have wifi always on, connecting to different networks through the day and no issue, no slowdowns and great range. Maybe you should see an service center.

I had it on 4.1.2 but not on this one. In fact I didn't use Wifi because of that and the huge battery drain. I can now use it again ase both problems seem to be solved

Maybe it has to do with the internet router?! I had the same issue with galaxy s3 a year ago. But i have changed routers aswell so it has to be a combination of router bands/model/speed etc.
But since it works with CM10.2 custom rom, it is likely the wifi drivers on the phone that is somewhat incompatible with my kind of router...
You know that you have a option in wifi defenicions to switch between networks if wifi is weak

That is switching from wifi and mobile data... The problem is not weak wifi signal.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk
I know.....I solve the probleme with that. .for some reason the wifi is weak for 'code' and then switch.....tell me when u disable that feature
