Lollipop and xPosed alternatives? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Obviously xposed doesn't work with lollipop because of ART. I used a few mods in xposed with JB that I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to get working on lollipop. The main one for me is resizing the nav bar at the bottom because it is huge. The second would be 5x5 homescreen icons. And the third is a round battery icon with the percentage. Any way to impliment this into lollipop without xposed?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Well, you can decrease DPI value to 300 or a bit less, but this will make smaller anything.

With a lower DPI (300) it becomes 5x6.

For this you need a custom Firmware.

For narrower nav bar, I use GMD auto hide soft keys. You need root, but it's easy with wugs nexus toolkit.
For changing the number of rows and columns of icons, I use Nova launcher. No root required.
Can't help with the battery icon, sorry.

Suddenly can't seem to get that GMD app to work. I think the smart cover lite app together when the GMD app won't work. Seemed fine before I installed smart cover lite.

Why don't you just use a 3rd party launcher to change the homescreen icon grid? The latest Nova launcher also makes it look like stock lollipop launcher

I personally found the best alternative to Xposed on Lollipop is the SimpleAOSP rom. It has a lot of the settings I got through GravityBox built in to the rom while still keeping the look and feel of the stock rom. Together with the recommended Stuxnet kernel, my phone hasn't ever run this well before. Super smooth and nice battery life. Pretty sure it has the feature you're looking for to change the size of the nav bar. Until Xposed is available on stock lollipop, I'm sticking with SuperAOSP.
The biggest thing for me was getting back DT2W/S2W/S2S since TouchControl is dead. Stuxnet only supports DT2W but SuperAOSP has the double-tap the status bar to sleep option.

How Do I Hide the Software Keys?

I want to use PIE control instead. Is there some kind of build.prop mod or something that hides the nav bar?
Might be worth going for a custom ROM that has PIE. All you then have to do is switch to Expanded Desktop and there you have it!?
You'll find many ROMs that do PIE. There is also a launcher that does that, it's called LMT Launcher. You will find it here on XDA.

I don't want to flash a whole new ROM. I just want the PIE control and nav bar removal. PIE control has a Play Store app so I don't need to flash that but I know there has to be some kind of simple mod to remove the nav bar.
Ah, ok, didn't realize there was an app for it.
How about this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780970

It seems to force tablet UI, but the nav bar still remains. I know there was a way to make the nav bar appear for the Note 2 so there has to be a way to hide the nav bar for the Nexus 7.
download LMT launcher, it's been around longer than PIE has and doesn't require any specific rom...

you can go into google playstore and search for PieControl Pro. There is a free version and a pro version for $1.99

So can this hide the nav bar?
Flash ParanoidAndroid ROM it has built in PIE navigation in Quick Settings so when you tap on it your navigation bar hides and PIE control activates and if you are worried about Tablet UI you can turn it off any time you want. =)

are you on the stock rom? not sure if LMT can hide the navigation menu. you may as well just flash any other rom since almost every other rom lets you hide the navigation menu anyways. LMT is also way more customizable than PIE.
At the end of build prop add
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Save and exit, I don't believe it works on stock rom though but I could be wrong.
I use this on roms that don't have it built in navbar hide built in, and I use lmt launcher, because I prefer it to pie.

Using Nox Icons without Apex, Nova, etc?

Anyone know how to apply icons from Nox Icons to the G2 without using a non-stock launcher? I prefer using the stock G2 launcher to keep "knock knock" but don't like the icons. I already tried changing the icons by long pressing the icon I want to change and selecting the Nox icon I want but it keeps saying "Failed to load image".

You can keep knock on/off with 3rd party launchers, you just need to double tap the status bar up top.
Yeah I know, but that's too hard to do one handed (or I'm just too lazy). I was hoping there's a way to find the icons using a file browser or maybe someone has the icons in a zip.

You can also download a program called Turn off screen, using nova, after you set up "turn off screen" go to activities under gestures in Nova, and set double tap as turn off screen. Also, if you have root, in the app section, someone has developed the regular launcher with pretty much all options you can think of.
Have fun.

Stock Wallpaper and Transparent Notification

I did a little research and wanted to know if I really have the right info regarding wallpapers and the notification bar.
Please: no need to tell me to root or to use an alternative launcher. I am well-versed in both, but I remain interested in staying stock and using the default laucher.
So, is it the case that:
- The only way to have a transparent notification bar (it looks great) is to use the stock, LG-supplied wallpaper?
- There is no way to add to the stock wallpaper collection?
Thanks in advance.
I have the exact same question as OP
I currently use Xposed and Gravitybox for transparent action bar (nav. bar) and status bar, but only for home screen mode. In lockscreen the bars show wallpaper of homescreen not set lockscreen wallpaper

Thanks ZenWan - but Xposed is only for rooted devices, right?
Although I have plenty of experience with rooting and custom ROMs on previous phones, I really want to keep my G2 completely stock.
Aye, I believe it only works with rooted devices. But fair enough, understand your reason ^_^

There's ZOR over at the Theme's section who makes his own themes. Chose's his own wallpapers and icons and all and still has transparent as stock. I saw in one of a couple pages that he posted a link on to how he made them. that could be another way to achieve that. I myself wanted to keep but my impatience made me root; xposed and now i have that and way more options. are you afraid to void your warranty?

[HELP] How to make navigation bar icons smaller?

Hello! I'm running OptimusG3 and I'm on art. I would really love to know how to make my nav bar icons smaller. I tried the nav bar height mod by Xzombiepikatchu but as the name implies, it just changes the height and not the size of the soft keys. So can anybody help me (either tutorial or by building a zip for me) reducing the icon size?

Try our xposed module "android theme. Engine" and see if it helps you, the nav bar option can be found at the end of page. If you feel the icons still appear big you can let me know I can do a special size reduced version for you in my free time

From what I remember cloudyg3 uses a smaller navbar so if you don't mind switching to that rom that might be the easiest option. I can't believe that a small navbar mod doesn't exist. If your dead set on using optimusg3 then your only other option might be to pull the systemui and replace the navbar bitmaps with smaller ones

OnePlus Stock Launcher

Hello World!
I'm using the stock OP6 launcher, and it's fantastic. But I have a quick question. Is there any way to modify the launcher to shrink the space between the dock and the navbar ? I'm rooted.
I attached a picture to be more conclusive.
Thank you for your time.
Not that I know of but would be nice
Changing the home screen folder display would be great too. You can change icon packs all day but are stuck with a grey circle folder.

Get Nova launcher and solve all your launcher issues.
How did you get that many apps in your dock? I'm stuck with 5 on stock and can't add any more

You need root. I found a post on the forums on how to edit the navbar. I'll reply if I'll found it.
+1 from me on this one.
I have Nova Prime, but I like the app closing animations of the OnePlus launcher - particularly if you use Navigation Gestures instead of nav buttons.

Doesn't fix the issue. The guestures, while good, are the portal between you and what your interacting with on the glass and need to be perfect, which the OnePlus one's aren't. The y miss animations, are buggy and then the keyboard is lower. I'm using buttons because while guestures are better they just need to be 100 per cent polished otherwise it ruins interacting with the phone.

I've been using OnePlus gestures for several weeks. Took a couple days to get used to it since I'm used to the buttons but I can say I have never once had them mess up. I still occasionally just tap the bottom right corner to try and go back though. Many years of buttons makes it a strange transition, but imo they are perfect.
