Hello World!
I'm using the stock OP6 launcher, and it's fantastic. But I have a quick question. Is there any way to modify the launcher to shrink the space between the dock and the navbar ? I'm rooted.
I attached a picture to be more conclusive.
Thank you for your time.
Not that I know of but would be nice
Changing the home screen folder display would be great too. You can change icon packs all day but are stuck with a grey circle folder.

Get Nova launcher and solve all your launcher issues.
How did you get that many apps in your dock? I'm stuck with 5 on stock and can't add any more

You need root. I found a post on the forums on how to edit the navbar. I'll reply if I'll found it.
+1 from me on this one.
I have Nova Prime, but I like the app closing animations of the OnePlus launcher - particularly if you use Navigation Gestures instead of nav buttons.

Doesn't fix the issue. The guestures, while good, are the portal between you and what your interacting with on the glass and need to be perfect, which the OnePlus one's aren't. The y miss animations, are buggy and then the keyboard is lower. I'm using buttons because while guestures are better they just need to be 100 per cent polished otherwise it ruins interacting with the phone.

I've been using OnePlus gestures for several weeks. Took a couple days to get used to it since I'm used to the buttons but I can say I have never once had them mess up. I still occasionally just tap the bottom right corner to try and go back though. Many years of buttons makes it a strange transition, but imo they are perfect.

It annoys me when someone hard-codes two buttons assuming everyone must use them all the time. Can you customize them? I didn't see anything in the settings menu. Thanks.
Bump, going to keep this one top front page.
i was just about to start a thread about the same
I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but if you use Launcher PRO, you can not only customize those two buttons, but have an additional 2 (4 in total).

No, currently there is no way to customize them to the shortcuts you want. But it is big on his priority to do.

That's what I thought. If I'm stuck with two hard-coded buttons I might as well use Launcher Pro which provides a few more hard-coded buttons that look nicer in my opinion.
I'm loving the new launcher from FroYo, but the Drawer is slow when i have a Live wallpaper on and same thing with launcher Pro.
Seems like it would be a matter of changing the current shortcut to point at something else. Should be a piece of cake if you know what you are doing and hopefully someone that does will come along.
You have to check out the new adw ex which is optimized for tablets. It is simply awesome especially the main dock

Cool ...i run into my market !
Liking it...mostly.
Adds a new dimension to wallpaper wonkiness, unfortunately.
My wallpaper (via wizardrii) is not properly centered in landscape mode. Have not fiddled with it yet.
Anyone have any tips?
I will definitely be purchasing this for my girlfriend's 10.1.. thanks for the tip, it looks great!
Am loving it just make sure if your rubbish bin bar is located at the bottom you enable auto scaling of desktop when bin bar is used, otherwise you won't be able to add icons to the docking bar !

Mine works well for an hour or so, then takes an age for an app to return to the launcher. Only way to fix is to reboot the tab. Anyone else seen this?
Is there a light or trial version that I can try for free? I can't find one in the market.

Wallpapers aren't rendered properly, and my dock bar just disappeared on mine. Still has a ways to go on tablets.
Dock bar going away is a common "problem" with ADW. Turn off hidden dockbar in the settings, turn off gestures.
I went ahead and set mine up without a dockbar, and with just the ADW settings menu item in the top right. Removed the trash bin as well (long-press then Remove from the desktop works just fine).
"Endless" page scrolling, page-turn animation of Tilt, 350 turn speed, 15 desktop bounce, and a theme that has a transparent top menu bar. Desktop has 9x7 columns/rows, icons scaled to 95%, density hack off. App drawer is 6x6, in 4D vertical scroll.
Basically, it looks pretty much like Honeycomb at a glance, but without the one-inch "tap space" wasted on the left and right screen edges. It's much faster and smoother. About the only performance issue I've had is that it doesn't handle "card" widgets like YouTube, Market or News360 as smoothly as stock, when you go to "fling" a card away.
Maybe I'm just getting old and simple, but I don't really see the point of having the excessive customization of ADW on a Honeycomb tab. I have my homescreen setup with two widgets and about 12 regular icons, then the next screen over has some lesser used stuff. If I need any other apps I just open the app drawer and easily locate them. I mean, it's neat to make things whiz-bang and all, but from a usability perspective there's already so much overkill built in to Honeycomb that ADW doesn't seem worth the time.
On my phone, ADW is great, however. Now get off my lawn.

You don't have to use the power of ADW, it's just there waiting to be harnessed if you want it.
In fact, you can use ADW to simplify it, for example you can delete unused home screens, unlike stock Honeycomb. Doing things like adding widgets or changing wallpapers is also cleaner and quicker than the flashy Honeycomb interface. It's simpler.
I'm a card carrying member of the Curmudgeon's Club of Canada, by the way.

So... You are saying that you need adw
I like simple too, and adw help me doing that.
I mean, I do not need the 3d cubic scrolling effects, neither than the futuristic widget selection screen, or the quick search bar at the top.
I didn't choose to display the dock too in adw.
And it is so fast, close to the ipad smoothness.

It is not a problem but a feature hehe. If you slide one the dock, it disappear. I you slide again it appears. I think you can disable somewhere that movement.
ADW still sucks on the Tab..not only are the card/live widgets like Youtube slow to flick like someone said, but the worst thing is that for certain widget, like the Digital Clock stock Tab one...it looks fine when using the Tab landscape at first, then every single time I rotate to portrait view, the widget re-draws for new orientation and both left and right sides of the widget are not cut off. This does not adjust/fix itself instantly like stock launcher does and the only way to really fix it is to re-add widget or sometimes turn screen off and on.
I like the smoothness of the launcher/drawer but I aint dealing with this **** where a widget gets screwed up every single time....too annoying to deal with. Why is this such a hard thing to get right?? Is there a fix for this or no? I am not resizing the widget to begin with btw...just adding it as normal size. The homescreen size I use is 8 columns and 7 rows btw, just like stock.
Oh and why in the app drawer, the the top still unmatching/not dimmed like the rest of the drawer below it? Looks so stupid. They should dim it too and still keep the buttons in the top right corner, ughh.
EDIT: Here, compare landscape to portrait when flipped. Not only does that Digital Clock widget get cut off, but also look at the Wireless Widget..it looks ridiculous now.
EDIT2: I unchecked the ADW option for resizing widgets to fit blah blah but the same thing still happens where the Clock widget, for example, gets cut off after going vertical.. although the Wifi Widget looks a little less ridiculous now when turning. Anyone know about the widget issue though??

The 15 minute refund policy really sucks, especially for apps like ADW EX where you really need some time to get a feel for how you like it and check out all the customizations. To get around it you can always buy it, pull the apk from /data/apps (requires root), refund it, and re-install the program using the pulled apk file. This way you can take your time to play around with the app before deciding if you want to keep it. If you do go ahead and re-buy it from market. If you decide not to buy it do the honest thing and uninstall the program.

Hello Status Bar.
Use a button to pull down the notification bar !!
Very handy with this BIG ASS screen.
Put it everywhere you want .....

Some other launchers such as Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher Ex and Go Launcher Ex to mention a few let you set gestures for various things such as the notification bar. So no, the stock launcher isn't the only launcher for this gesture
I prefer setting ADW's swipe down on homescreen gesture for opening Notification tray myself...
I have used gestures since... forever?
I have no idea why this isnt added to the assorted skins or even vanilla Android. It makes so much sense.
I have my gestures setup so that swipe up = open app drawer, swipe down = open notification bar.
Another advantage of this is it means not having to have an app drawer icon on your dock, leaving more room for quick access icons.
Speaking of dock... another pro tip for GO Launcher EX users. Long press on an icon in the dock and hit 'gesture'. Voila - your dock icon can now perform another action by swiping up on the icon instead of just tapping it. Your 5 bar dock is now 10 actions.
I love GO Launcher.
yes, go launcher ex , use its swipe for notification. But it has alot of good functions too

I installed GO Launcher EX on Christmas on my EVO & it is so much faster & cooler now that I think I can wait to see the SGNote hardware in a US store as long as it's Q1 2012 (as EVO's video camera still sucks & Note does obviously have cooler abilities but would ideally like to try it in my hand first). No fan of TouchWiz here & would likely be using GO Launcher EX on Note.

+1 for Nova. If you got the $50 credit, get Nova Prime (paid), although test out the free one first to see if you like it.
I like Action Launcher 3 better than Nova but the latter is as good as it gets if you want to set up the phone old school. Realistically everyone should have a second launcher installed off the market just to get the backup for a corrupt stock launcher. You don't have to use it but if the stock launcher is hosed Android will start the phone up with the second which will allow you to get through your day and deal with the fix later.
Perhaps someone else will flesh this out for you but the reason people are saying install another launcher may be because you didn't used to be able to rid yourself of the search bar without root on Nexus devices. Not sure if this has changed since I only screwed around with it when it first came out for about the 5 minutes it took to figure out I hated it and haven't looked back since. Maybe that has changed though...

You should download the screen off app and bind the double tap to turn off the screen. That for off and the fingerprint for on, you'll never have to touch the power button (but double tapping the power button for quick camera is still pretty awesome, so you probably will - lol).

Twice. Once when switching themes and once with an app conflict that hosed ADW. I normally have multiple launchers installed as I like to switch things up but it also comes in handy when the chips are down.

That doesn't make any sense. I've been using it for a few days and I've had no problems with Imprint at all.
Update: I take that back. So, I just played with it a little bit and you're right. If I power off via the button, imprint allows me to power on and unlock immediately. If I double-tap to power off, when I touch the sensor, it still asks for the pin code.
I personally like the Google Now launcher. I don't see what's wrong with the search bar at the top, personally. I'm not a fan of the newest skin they put on it, though. The launcher, as a whole, though us functional and minimal, which is what I prefer. Having google now with a swipe to the right is a bonus.

It only happens when I open the recent apps from the homescreen. No problem from Firefox for example.
Did you tweak something in Nova to improve the gestures?
As a workaround, I now open the recent apps screen with a swipe up from the homescreen.
No I didn't change anything,
I normaly use the 3 buttons but I tested it with the gestures earlier and it works super fast.

OK so it seems you have the same problem.
With OP stock launcher, you can swipe up then hold to the left to directly switch to another app.
With Nova launcher, you cannot hold and directly switch to another app. You have to release your finger then press again to select another app.
Ok than it´s normal behavior in nova launcher i would say.
Im not familiar with gestures, but couldnt you switch between apps with a swipe from the left or right side directly?
