[Q] CM based ROM, can I change MAC permanently? (E610) - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I have 3 E610 on home and after installing SBP-ROM CM10 all three devices have CM's default MAC override (00:0a:f5:89:89:80) so WiFi is just unstable or doesn't work at all when they're connected at the same time. I've been searching a bit and only found temporal solutions or quifixes
Is there a way I can change or disable this for a permanent solution?

[Q] WiFi Error, overwrite modules to fix???

Hi guys,
For a few days I have strange problem with my Bangsters 1.2 build - every time I reboot, my WiFi doesn't work. I have to copy modules from the PC, and without rebooting restart WiFi connection.
Anyone had similar issue?
I've gt a similar problem, but I've had it with all the builds - Whenever I start up android, I have to go to settings, and enable wifi otherwise it shows up with an error. I don't ave to copy over the wifi modules each time though.

Screen problem with self-compiled kernel

Hi.
I just compiled a kernel for my HTC Magic (32A/EBI1), and flashed it. But, my problem is that with this kernel, the screen has a greenish color. It's almost as if I activated a cyanogenmod render effect (to green), which is not the case. Other kernels do not have this problem (for example, the kernels at droid-basement.com work just fine).
I used the instructions on the cyanogenmod wiki to build the kernel, and when creating my .config, I used all the default settings (and just changed the line referring to EBI1).
Does anyone have any clue as to what is happening?

Cannot find solution to connect to hidden 802.1x network :(

Hi!
I Cannot find solution to connect to company's hidden Wifi 802.1x network
I tried almost anything to make it work .... but without success
I have had various wpa_supplicant bin files.
I have edited 100x wpa_supplicant.conf file.
I was reading forums with "SOLVED" solutions ... for other phones ... but cannot find solution to work on Huawei IDEOS X5 U8800.
I also have tried it with various ROMs: MIUI 1.8.x and 1.9.x, VOID, B135, B136,B160, cm7-100911, Oxygen ...
But every time with no success ...
Hints:
a) All other colleagues connect without problem (they have HTCs, Samsung Galaxy S I,II, iPhones 3,4 ...) while my friend and i cannot connect
b) I connect to my home Wifi (WPA/PSK) without a problem!
Anyone have similar problem?
BTW: MY wpa_supplicant.conf file looks like:
ctrl_interface=wlan0
update_config=1
network={
ssid="mySSID"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=IEEE8021X
group=WEP104 WEP40
auth_alg=OPEN SHARED
eap=PEAP
identity="[email protected]"
password="zzzzzz"
phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
}

Have had sporadic issues myself, and found that setting ap_scan=2 in /system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf was helpful but not flawless. I reverted back to a CWM of MIUI 1.8.19 which I recalled seemed to connect without issues. On reviewing the wpa_supplicant.conf files in system and data, I noticed that the ctrl_interface was different.
ctrl_interface=DIR=/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant GROUP=system
rather than ctrl_interface=wlan0
I haven't yet tried moving back to the latest version of MIUI to test these changes, but will do so when I get the time.
Modify below files and ensure permissions dont change
Both /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
and /system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
also create a new folder wpa_supplicant in /data/misc/wifi/
mkdir /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant -m 750

The control interface is changed so that it works with other versions of wpa_supplicant. If you change it to the way it was in the older Miui then wifi won't work at all.
If it never worked (even on stock) then the issue probably isn't with wpa supplicant, and could be a problem with the wifi driver, or the hardware itself. This really needs someone who knows what they're doing and access to a hidden 802.1x network to look into it.

Was there a driver change between 1.8.19 and later MIUI versions? The supplicant seems like the same version (v 0.6.10)?
On returning to 1.8.19 have had 3 days without issues. When on 1.9.30 the change to ap_scan=2 definitely improved and seemed to make a connection on reboot flawless, but reconnection from sleep was sporadic (probably <30%). Watching wpa_cli output when waking phone from screen off on 1.9.30 showed a failed connection attempt, and then a series of timed scans (CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS) - these continued after CTRL-EVENT-CONNECTED (something that didn't occur after toggling wifi on/off/on and connecting).

Thanks for you feedback, that really helps. Even though the version number is the same they aren't the same file.
I'll get in contact with you via pm to try and sort this out.
Thanks guys for trying!
So there is no solution yet?
Any news ?
Thanks!

I have same problem with that.
I also have the same problem, and looking for a solution. I am using Redmi 4a MIUI 8.2.6.0

Rooted GT-I9300 with 4.3, dialer (secret) codes won't work

I have problem with dialer codes. Even the simplest ones (*#06# or *#0000#) won't work.
I have upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.3, and yesterday upgraded more recent version of 4.3 (I9300XXEMG4, I9300OXAGMK6, I9300XXUGNB4) but problem persists.
I edited /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu to contain ON and also tried adding the line to /system/build.props. Then shutdown and battery away. Still the codes won't work.
I have installed programs from Google Play to launch the menu programmatically, with no success whatsoever.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Do I have to downgrade to 4.1.2?

PS. The bottom line reason for this is that the WLAN doesn't work because of the interference of another phone (S2+) and I would like to try and change the hidden properties and perhaps be able to use the WLAN with my phone.
As far as I know the only way the 2 devices can interfere on wifi is by having the same ip or mac address.

[OK] EAP-SIM in OnePlus 2?

Is there EAP-SIM support in OnePlus 2?
EAP-SIM is supported by my carrier (France/Free) to connect phone to nearby WiFi Hotspots automatically using mobile account identification.
There are some posts around here talking about this feature (here and there for example).
It is not provided in AOSP, the android issue #9329 is open since 2012 asking for it.
Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony... phones support it through custom OS or Android overlay.
So the real question is: Do Oxygen OS provide it?
EDIT/ANSWER :
It works fine. I've used it multiple times.
Carrier application (Free) says it supports it
I just received the phone yesterday and installed an application provided by my carrier to configure Visual Voice Mail (Messagerie Free).
The application can also configure EAP-SIM and said that the phone is compatible and I completed its configuration.
However I didn't had the change to test it (EAP-SIM).
I'll post a reply if I'm able to test it.
Connection occurs
I saw the phone connecting to an EAP-SIM WiFi Hotspot (FreeWiFi_Secure), however I couldn't confirm the connection was working (I was driving, so safefty first).
It seems to be working, I just have to confirm it (browse some website when connected to a EAP-SIM WiFi Hotspot).
It works
I can confirm it works.
I've used it multiple times.
So good news.
Hi everyone !
Are you SURE EAP-SIM is working on the Oneplus 2 (the 2, not the one).
I had the oneplus ONE and, yes, it IS working, "Messagerie Vocale Free" can configure Freewifi_secure for the phone.
But I now have the Oneplus TWO and "Messagerie Vocale Free" cannot configure it : It says it cannot configure EAP-SIM on Dual SIM phones, you have to configure it manually. And when trying to configure EAP-SIM manually.. it's not possible...
I'm talking about stock ROM (Oxygen OS 2.1.2)
Yea it works I'm on stock rom and AK kernel.
In Singapore I needed Eap Sim for my provider's free WiFi, so it kind of look like this
network={
ssid="SingTel WIFI"
key_mgmt=WPA-EAP IEEE8021X
eap=SIM
sim_num=1
priority=235
}
network={
ssid="Singtel WIFI"
key_mgmt=WPA-EAP IEEE8021X
eap=SIM
sim_num=1
priority=242
}
The settings were automatically disabled by the phone once added for some reason, I thought it didn't work and left the code there until one day I realize I was connecting to the WiFi through Eap Sim. Nt sure what I did in between that made it work. Perhaps restart or add only when WiFi is off or disable then enable background WiFi scan
Take note that there are two wpa_supplicant file. The correct one should have some WiFi AP already there if u have previously connected to any WiFi AP. The path should be system>data>misc>WiFi
I modified the file using fx file manager with the free root add-on. Which means u need to root ur phone in order to change the settings. ES file explorer didn't work for me
10/8/16:
I've upgraded to Paranoid 6.0.2, there is EAP-SIM option when connecting to Singtel WiFi however it will always result in "Authentication Problem".
I've tried many ways to fix it:
- Removing pmf = 1
- Setting DHCP back to lollipop
- Disable 1.2 and 1.1 TLS for compatibility
- Adding sim_num = 1 (will be removed by driver due to external_sim = 1)
All of them did not work for me.
The only one that did work was to use EAP-AKA instead of EAP-SIM. It even works for [email protected] too.

Thanks all for your advices,
Here is the procedure for French FREE MOBILE + OP2 users
The correct file "wpa_supplicant.conf" is in System(root)/data/misc/wifi as Imk1988 said (so grateful to him btw)
(do not modify the other wpa_supplicant.conf file in System(root)/etc/wifi)
Add this line
network={
ssid="FreeWifi_secure"
key_mgmt=WPA-EAP IEEE8021X
eap=SIM
sim_num=1
priority=5
}
after rebooting, it's working like a charm
Conditions:
SIM FREE MOBILE in slot 1
OP2 rooted
Hi lmk1988,
I tried using your method for Singtel WiFi (using a Oneplus X on CM12.1) and it's not working I'm afraid. I could edit the file successfully, but I get a "WiFi connection failed" when I try to connect.
Will try again later!
(I'm wondering if it's just that CM doesn't support EAP-SIM at all...)
Unfortunately I'm using oneplus two (custom rom: SkyDragon v3.1 OOS2.2 and Boeffla 1.1-beta3) now.
Not really sure if it will work for oneplus X
Anyway do make sure u are modifying the correct file, there are two files with the same name.
And note that not all Singtel WiFi will work. It's funny it can be working on one day then not working the next. Kinda depends on time and place.

Okay the issue seems to be from CM12.1 oneplus X
Take a look at bbs.zhiyoo.com/thread-9972195-1-1.html
(T.T I can't post links yet because under 10 post)
It's in Chinese but if you look at what they say for version 8
Code:
8.0更新:
回滚7.0版本的音频驱动设置
回声问题应该解决了
禁用EAP-SIM 设备本身不支持
It basically means
Code:
version 8.0:
Reverted Audio Driver to 7.0
Echo issue have been be fixed
[B]Restricted EAP-SIM setting, it is not supported[/B]
I'm not sure if it means CM12.1 for oneplus X does not support EAP-SIM, or does it mean oneplus X does not support EAP-SIM.
Try changing your ROM back to OOS and see if it works
I see.
Thanks man! I don't really know much about coding, etc., and finding out where everything us. Just kinda winging it by searching through forums and so on.
So really appreciate the help and the info! = )
I'm not sure if I'll try to switch back to the stock OS at the moment, found CM to be preferred at the moment. If I do, though, I'll let you know!
