Hello everyone,
My close friend recently broke her Sprint Galaxy S4 phone and she would like to retrieve the pictures off of the phone. I know to do this for internal storage the phone has to be in MTP mode to recognize the SD and Internal card. Would their be anyway of retrieving this information without having any access to the screen. The screens cracked and the digitizer does not work it doesn't even show a display. Many thanks for the help.
just plug usb in lol. u dont need screen. windows 7 it comes right up
A very good friend of mine (whom I would like to earn a box of brownie points with) cracked the LCD on her G900V. The phone still works, alerts go off when she gets Facebook messages, etc, so that is good.
Initially I was going to use the MHL cable in conjunction with a USB OTG cable to gain access to it so we can get her photos off of it, as well as backup her SMS's and other things she didn't have backed up (read: everything). Unfortunately, for whatever reason, her phone will not display with the Samsung MHL adapter. It works on my Note 3, S4 and a busted LCD S4, but not on her S5. I think something else may have happened that caused the LCD to not work. It has been cracked for a while, but usable. Then one afternoon it just went black.
What I need to do is get USB debugging enabled so I can use ADB or AndroidControl to get the data / pictures off. After reading and reading, I came across a thread where it says CWM has debugging enabled by default. GREAT! I'm able to get the phone into download mode (ODIN recognizes it), but I can't seem to find an appropriate recovery to load on it.
Any help?
I'm 99% certain unless it was a developer device it has a locked bootloader, so not possible, sorry man.

I had the same problem with my S4. The screen broke and I could not veto the HML cable to work. I used it before to watch movies with the S4 so it must have been something to do with the broken screen. I didn't want to sell or give away my phone (or turn it in for warranty) with all of my personal data on it. My final solution was to swap the motherboard to another S4 and recover my data. While I was at it I wiped all of my data and encrypted the phone so nothing could be recovered from it.

Another possible variation on this is if youre already taking it apart, maybe just take out the internal sd card, im not sure how it works on this phone but on my old windows phone you just undid some screws and moved some foil stuff and the sd slot with the card was there, just dont confuse this with the already exposed one.

so last month i accidentally hit my phone' screen when the phone is in my pocket and it result in cracked screen. i refuse to repair it as it cost too much (and its the 2nd time i broke the note 4's screen =.=) and i have bought a discounted lg g3 as my new phone as it is just $200 more.
anyway, just want to ask if it is possible to recover my files from my old phone (well, i have everything backed up, but i really hope i can recover my Minecraft Map and maybe some snote inside).
i tried to plug in the phone to my laptop, the phone storage icon appear but it is empty. i think i got a screen lock, but the screen is now completely not working so i have no idea what's showing in my screen (i swap between fingerprint and pattern unlock but i forgot what did i set before the screen cracked, but i tried to use the fingerprint sensor and it doesnt seems to be unlocked as the folder is still not showing anything, not sure though).
so is that possible to recover my files inside?
thanks and sry for the long post
anyone pls

So i accidentally dropped my phone this week and it decided to crack and become unresponsive. I really don't want to repair the screen as I requested a replacement phone however, I just want to know how can I bypass the pattern lock when you restart your phone. I downloaded Android studio but I'm not that savvy on how to use it to remove the pattern lock. Can anyone help me with unlocking my old S8 so I can at least try to remove my old data to my new phone some how. Mind you I can't even enable USB debugging since the screen isn't responsive. I just want to get my pictures and contacts off that phone before returning it. PLEASE HELP!! FYI.. I can follow instructions if it's code/script related.
Try an USB-ToGo adapter, connect an USB-Mouse and transfer files with "Send Anywhere" for example.
