Wow 7000 mAh, your phone had become a brick xD. Anyway amazing battery life. 13 hour screen on that's good.

Go on the zerolemon website and have a look there, it does make the phone quite a bit thicker but i got used to it within the first day of having it and now it's fine. To give you some estimate, it's about twice and little more thickness of the original phone.

Haha yeah it pretty much has but you get used to it pretty quickly. So glad i don't need to take my cable around anymore, only needed to charge my phone twice during last week (Sunday-Sunday).
I was thinking my battery life is great with 4.3. I was wrong. Since 4.4.4 update with exactly the same setting and same kernel(Agni). Battery life is way better and my phone is much faster(du to use new armv7 instructions)

I`ve just rooted my defy and am thinking of installing a custom rom.
Can anyone tell me whether I would get better or worse battery life than with stock (I realize that not all custom roms are the same but on average are they better or worse for battery ?)
Thanks
Jeff
well if you read around everyone suggests that this rom is better then the other, but well to each his own.
what you could do is figure out which rom you like and install it.
the battery backup on froyo vs any custom i have tried, froyo wins hands down.
there are many apps in the market which will help you get an increased battery life and figure out where exactly your having issues or which app is giving you that head ache, eg: juice defender
so you will, inevitably get a pretty decent battery backup!
hope this helps!
Thanks for that.
Do you mean froyo stock has good battery life or one of the froyo custom roms?
Jeff
WIUI has an excellent battery-life!
I have battery problem on every custom or stock ROM... tjis is what i get with no use of phone.. i tried to calibrate battery but again there was no improvement...
Sent from my MB525 using xda premium
Your signature says that you have OC'd to 1.2ghz. This could be the problem.
CM7.1 stable, with moderate use, wifi always on, some 3g: battery lasts ~4days
i believe stock froyo has the best battery life. with custom roms, my vote goes to miui. but i'm on cm7 for its performance, and still with good enough battery life.
Early CM7 gave me around 4 days, currently on the latest nightly 111123 which is about 2 days, which is still fine for me, especially given the performance boost it gives the phone.

I didn't refreshed my signature, its on 1000mHz.. But with stock rom (800mhz) i get the same poor battery :S
dh.harald I am zapped... 4 days
Ever since I got my defy in Aug11, I have been struggling with 1 day battery life.
Even had a battery replacement a month back, yet no advantage.
Finally had root my device to CM7 RC1.5, did (darky's) battery calibration few times and now I get close to 36 hours with below normal voice, no data (20min max), no wifi (1 hr max), no gps, auto brightness, no bluetooth, 15 sec screen timeout, and no other usage.
Do you feel I should again try get my device serviced?

I know it is a silly question but, here it is: charging over USB reduces the battery life shelf?
Edit1: I mean, keep about 4-6 hours per day charging over USB reduces the battery life shelf?

MS2Ginger 2.0 had better battery life then 2.1...Im using 2.1 now and I have only 32h of battery with the same usage of phone like on 2.0 where I had >60h of battery life.
Ill do one more time recalibration of battery and check it but for now, I think that new Bootmenu is the one thing that fcked up battery life (since clk3 and clk4 are equal and both are 1000, but in previous bootmenu u could put clk3=800 and clk4=1000).
Will track battery life more.
I like 2.1 so fckin much so I'd like to have 60h of battery life again.
MS2ginger2.1=MS2ginger2+patches. it shouldn't consume more power. I think that setting clk2 to 600MHz is a bad practice. Try clk2=800MHz instead.

I'm also using 2.1 and see only 3 Vsel setting in the bootmenu. Just enable all modules, save and reboot. Even though bootmenu will still only show 3 Vsel settings, use SetVsel app and you can change clk3 and clk4. My clk3 is back to 800MHz like before. Confirmed with CPUspy that 800MHz is used.
Ok...After recalibration of battery with Battery Calibrator from Market I managed to have 66h of battery time with default CPU settings in CWM.
U can see whole post and pics over here:

and here some answers to the questions asked:

Im not in the mood for changing settings in CWM now, but Id really like to try smartass governor in a future. Maybe that would give me more than 72h of battery.
Or maybe V6supercharger script. Don't know.

how'd you achieve that?
Coming from an LG G2 (long story), battery life is what I miss the most. The nexus 4 has about half the screen on time than my g2 did.
I'm already unlocked and rooted but still stock ROM. Are there any Roms that significantly improve battery life?
I found smart 3G on Cataclysm to be pretty good at saving battery.
ROMs and kernels have little to do with battery. Your usage, signal for mobile data and WiFi, screen brightness, your configuration for location services, gps and the like and your apps determine your battery life.

I'd try Paranoid. I used it for a while after using stock and I found that the battery improved.
roms have absolutely zilch when it comes to battery life. only thing rims can do with battery is reduce it. generally, the more added mods/features a rom has, the worse the battery life. but not always. battery life is determined by hiw you personally use your phone, how you set it uo, what apps you use, and the quality of your phone/data connection. everything else, including kernels, have a very minimum effect on battery.
Well
When I was with Carbon, the play store thing killed my battery to 3hrs on screen time
Switched over to Purity Rom with Hells kernel and I have 5-6 on screen time
WiFi on all the time, no data or GPS or Bluetooth.
Mostly Reddit and a game or two, and a movie

set up your CPU and everything else just how the kernel sets it up for you, and you'll get the same battery life. be more active, set things up manually.

can you tell the story please , anyway ROM has weee little to do with battery life , its mostly on how you use it and the kernel you are using as well as sync loops and dodgy leaky apps , my personal setup is rom = paranoid android and kernel = hellsdoctor , using synapse app i switched the maximum clock speed to 1.2 Ghz , and changed the maximum core online to two, gpu is overclocked by default , rest is, location settings are turned off only turned on when required , brightness is set to 50 % , no dodgy apps on the phone , i can squeeze about 5 and half hours sometimes 6 its good enough for this battery size though and hope it works out for you :good:
Is there any way to determine what is really using CPU and what is causing wakelocks? All apps that I've tried just say 'Android System" or "Android OS" and not much more.
I've searched and searched and tried many things like Better Battery Stats, freezing lots of apps with TB, Greenify, Amplify, blocking startup with System Tuner, etc. I realize that many of my customization will use more battery life, but it's frustrated having a rooted and unlocked phone and not being able to see what is actually using my battery so I can make informed decisions on what to adjust or if certain features/apps are worth the energy cost.
Here are the stats:
Verizon Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900V)
Running BajaROM Android 4.4.2
Baseband N900VVRUCNC2
Kernel 3.4.0
Screenshots, logcat, Batter Battery Stats specs, etc here: https://drive.google.com/folderview...JjT0RaX3FlWkppNDhEOVl1WktTSTc0a2s&usp=sharing
If I am missing a log, statistic or something, please let me know and I can take a new set of screenshots and logs after a day of battery drain so they are all consistent. I love this community and thank you in advance!
The one stat I don't see is CPU high/low freq settings and what CPU governor is in use.
Programs like SetCpu (root required) or No Frills CPU monitor (root required) can give you control of how fast the cpu runs (thus power used). SetCPU also allows profiles...that trigger settings changes. For example if the screen is off set so max cpu speed is low and set the powersave governor.
I use SetCPU with 4 profiles and have far better battery life than I had before using it. Plus...much better response when I need it.
For example...on a typical day, about 4pm I would have to recharge, that was before. Now, doing the exact same stuff...it's 5pm and I have 65% battery left.
Even on a hard use day....I usually make it to 9pm without charging.

Thank you for the tip, I assume that file in the link is instead of any SetCPU, etc? I will give it a shot today!
Yes....replace /system/etc/init_qcom.post_boot.sh with the contents of that file AFTER you replace all instances of "interactiveX" (or whatever the name is...I forget) to just plain "interactive"

I've been running that tweak for a couple weeks and it has definitely made my phone more responsive, but battery life is not markedly improved.
I still get very high Android System energy consumption.

How old is your battery? It may possibly be losing capacity if it's older than about 1.5 years and gets charged every day.

Hmm, I did get this battery and phone from a friend so that's possible. Could that also explain the high percentage Android System and Android OS compared to other usage?
Thanks for the reminder, I'll get a new battery today so at least that won't be the cause.
So far there is a very limited number of custom ROMs available for our beloved device Redmi Note 2 :crying:. But the main reason for that is the unavailibilty of the kernel source. However developers have been doing their best to get us working and functional custom ROMs.
Users like me often want to get the best out of our devices and one of the main concerns with smartphones has been their battery life and it is dependent on both the hardware that the smartphone has and also on the battery optimizations available within the software/OS/ROM.
I found 2 ROMs for Redmi Note 2 which offered the best battery life for me (Opinions may vary depending on how different people use their devices). My usage of my Note 2 includes lots of web browsing, messaging (WhatsApp, etc.), social networking (mainly Twitter) and 30-45 minutes of calls.
The 2 ROMs that gave me the best battery life are CyanogenMod 12.1 by JoSan (http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/rom-cyanogenmod-t3265558) and Angels and Demons ROM by VirusLaura (http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/angels-demons-v4-0-base-miui-7-0-12-t3267202).
Screen on time with CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM by JoSan = 4-5 hours
and
Screen on time with Angels and Demons ROM by VirusLaura = 5-6 hours.
Rest of the ROMs didnt impress me with regards to the battery life though they also have plenty of features and customizations.
Feel free to reply as which ROMs for Redmi Note 2 you found best and most suitable for your use and why?

Hello everybody,
I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 N910H and an extended 9600mah battery on it.
But the issue I'm facing is that the phone does not give me the correct value of the current battery level, which can be sometimes very annoying like being stuck on 1% for a little while with no brightness.
The extended battery I have is the Kranich 9600mah Extended battery you can find its review here
I've already tried quite a few times calibrating the battery, run more than the recommended 5 cycles but I can't have the correct value of it.
So I would like to know is there a method to manually change the default value of battery capacity from stock one (3220 mah) to the correct one.
Any help would be appreciate.
My configuration
ROM : eRobot ROM v.7 (Android MM)
Kernel : H-Vitamin (3.10.9)
Battery: Kranich For Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Smart 9600mAh Extended Battery Replacement
Hope you guys can help me fix this.
Regards,
Here is the battery stats from the last cycles.
You can see more than 5 peaks on it.
For each one, the phone went down to 1% stuck there for a moment (that moment decreases progressively).
Everytime the phone turned itself off, I pulled out the battery and put it back in before restarting the it.
For the first time (meaning the second peak) the battery was at 26% after the phone boot up, the third it was at 19% etc. Until it shows 1% during the last one.
See below screenshot.

Woooowww this is absolutely incredable. At this moment I can only use mine for 2 days, I will flash this kernel ASAP and let fou know after using it.
Thanks a lot.
After one hour of usage with this kernel, it's not accurate yet and shows 88% after I pull out the battery and put it back in and it shows 94% which is quite a lot for an extended battery.
I'm currently on eRobot Custom ROM which is a S7 ported ROM and I plan to go back to stock ROM like Hani Base ROM maybe it will make a difference.
I have the phone in my signature (N910F) and now I'm using Emotion kernel for Zerolemon variant.
I mount a IBestwin large battery and the gauge is not accurate yet.
Probably I need to calibrate better the battery.
How is it work this kernel you made?
Sent from Note 4 device - Rome - Italy
After one day of usage starting from 65% it's pretty accurate.
I'm charging up to 100% and see how it works.
You can definitely try it.
But do remember it's d'or N910C/H and it's seems like Emotion kernel is for N910F.
@LukasAddon 87% on battery 19h remaining. This is weird.
Do I need to complete some cycles before it starts to show correct infos ?
The screen-on time has been very poor for me on spacelemon kernel but thé standby time is incredible.
If there is another kernel i'm willing to test it too.
kernel not need cycles before it starts to show correct.
when i charge buttery , it very long write on display "charging 100%" , but it is not 100%.
i wait some hours and then it write "charging complete" on lock screen and then battery is full charged
and DISABLE FAST CHARGE option in settings !!!!
try new version 2.1.0 on git hub.

kernel not need cycles before it starts to show correct.
when i charge buttery , it very long write on display "charging 100%" , but it is not 100%.
i wait some hours and then it write "charging complete" on lock screen and then battery is full charged
and DISABLE FAST CHARGE option in settings !!!!
try new version 2.1.0 on git hub.
https://github.com/LukasAddon/SpaceLemon-N910H-Kernel/releases/download/V2.1.0/SpaceLemon_v2.1.0.zip with Zerolemon Path
do not load SpaceLemon_Standart_Battery_v2.1.0.zip - its for standart battery

That is the version I've downloaded the 2.1.0 but I will download that Synapse application and tune the kernel. I didn't notice that the fast charging was unabled, so I will charge it again and will let you know.
Is your scrren-on time good enough ?
And is it possible to use it on custom ROM ? I was on eRobot ROM v.7 and due to overheating I flashed back a custom stock (Hani Base ROM).
One last thing, which settings do you consider the best with synapse for your Kernel ?
Thanks again for you efforts.
you can use custom rom, try first full charge buttery. and then test it.
my battery charging min 6-8 hours when i sleep )))
my 5 days on battery if i use 1.5 hours screen every day.
all default settings in synapse i put in kernel.

That's what I thought for the screen-on time I will test it for this week and I will report to you how it works with screenshots.
If everything is fine and hopefully it will, I'll then try it on eRobot ROM and report again.
Thanks a lot mate for this piece of magic.
it must be fine =)))
This is what I got from the last 2 cycles, as I said previously, the standby time is absolutely incredible when the phone is idle, there is no battery pourcentage drop. But while using it, you can see the screenshots below it's a real fast drop.
I just ordered kranich 9600 mAh . My n910c is running on Erobot v11.1 MM can anyone please recomend me a good kernel to show exactly the battery percentage?

You Can use SpaceLemon the dev shared the link here. I'm on eRobot 7 because the 11.1 was overheating.
As of now it has been the most accurate kernel I've used, btw the h_vitamin kernel dev said that it Will have extended battery support soon.

It was the Rom that was causing overheating not the kernel, so you Can try it on eRobot v.11.1 and see how it works. Knowing that you Can go back to h_vitamin suemax etc. whenever you want.
