[Q] No Lockscreen, Status Bar, and Stock Lancher?? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wiped everything and fastbooted the New Factory image for android L on my Nexus 4. There is no lockscreen (even though it says there is under settings) no status bar or the 3 buttons, Also it came with stock lancher. Any Help and Advice?

Install google launcher. All those features are part of googles launcher, not the stock launcher. Nexus 5 has is as default. Nexus 4 you have to install from google play.

What do you mean your screen is "blank/empty/black"? At the first boot after flashing Gapps, you should be greeted with a Setup Wizard to restore your Google stuff. Gapps is supposed to install Play Store, Gmail, Gtalk, and some others, I forget. Sounds like you did a bad flash. Make sure the zips aren't corrupted, and do a clean flash. Also, be sure to flash the ROM then Gapps.

after the setup wizard i got a black screen, then i pressed the home button and everything was fine. so i guess that black screen was just nova launcher.
anyway i found out how to remove nova launcher, using titanium backup. but yea i though gapps would install more things than it did. it installed the playstore, google sync, gmail and like 1 or 2 other things. no google maps or anything so i'm not sure what i'm missing from the default google apps selections.

My understanding is some apps aren't included for legal reasons. You can find maps in the playstore as well as wallet and a few others.

[Q] Did not flash Gapps, Google Search Bar does not open Google Now?

Hi so I'm on PA 3.99 and I did not flash the Gapps package since I don't wanna bloar my phone. the problem is that now when I press the Google Search Bar on my homescreen it does not open the Google Now app (I've installed it from the Play Store, it does work fine) but instead open the ancient Google Search app that we saw in Android 2.0. I've tried disabling the search service in the Apps menu but it only lead to a warning that Search has stopped working. The microphone next to the search bar still opens the right app, however.
Any of you guys want to shed me a light on this? Thanks...
Flash Gapps, I had the same thing happen back then except I had forgotten to flash it after the rom. You'll probably run into other issues eventually if you don't flash the Gapps package. Flashing it won't add any bloatware or unnecessary software, so don't worry about it.
after you flash the gapps, boot up then just delete what you dont want out of/system/app/. thats what i do.
To be honest, if just having gapps is bloat to you then a smartphone might not be a good choice.

[Q] Strange line in default Nexus 4 launcher

Hello everyone, my Nexus 4 is completely default, I didn't root or anything, but this line is showing in the launcher I don't know why, I tried to restart in safe mode and reset the device, but it's still there.
Any ideias?
Thanks

Install Nova or Apex launcher to see if it's the launcher. Then you might have to root and try a custom rom. If both those don't get rid of the line, it'll probably be a hardware issue.

KitKat Launcher after factory data reset on 5.1.1

This seems really odd to me. I did a Factory data reset under Settings > Backup & reset to wipe all my info from my N10 before giving it to someone else. Once it completed and the other person signed in with their Google account, the main launcher screens are the KitKat version rather than Lollipop even though it is on 5.1.1. Everything else looks like Lollipop - the Settings screen and options within, the stock apps like the calc are the Lollipop version. Not sure why the home screen and app drawer aren't updated. Do I need to just install the Google Now Launcher from the Play Store and set that as the default or is there something else I should try first? Why wouldn't the stock Lollipop launcher have stuck after the data wipe?

Wallpapers.apk is not working on NRD90U, doesn't work with Nexus Launcher or stock

It worked on the last "official" 7 via the beta program, I was able to install the wallpapers.apk and launch via the Nexus Launcher. (No flashing, just installing the APKs)
Anyone know if there is an updated apk or a workaround to fix this? Liking the Nexus Launcher but would like to fix the wallpaper launching. I am not rooted so I cannot flash via TWRP.
Thanks
