[Q] Samsung SG Note 4 SM-N910C T-Mobile Network - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I recently bought the phone off ebay. It stated that this phone has the Band 4, 1700 and 2100 frequency. When I look at other sites with the same note 4 N910C model, it stated that the model does not support the 1700 mhz but only the 2100.
The seller gave me the samsung website and below stated that this phone supports B4 (AWS). Is that the same as 1700 and 2100 that T-mobile uses?
Can anyone confirm that the phone will work with my T-mobile network at 3g, 4g, or 4g LTE? I am in the USA and zip code 91746 if that matters. thanx!
The link of the phone i bought is below.

I guess you don't have the phone yet, but you may need to actually test it yourself. So far I have not seen any successful 910c units reported to get 4G in the US. That does not mean that you will be unable but the info is just not there(correct me if wrong).
Apparently both bands are needed-one band for out and another for inbound signal.
Good luck, I have been watching this as well.

I'm using mine in TMO Puerto Rico
I'm using my N910c in T-Mobile Puerto Rico and I get LTE. The only issue I have is a weak voice signal in places where I used to have better coverage. But I don't have problems with the data at all, at least as of now. Maybe in Puerto Rico LTE for Tmo is configured differently, but my LTE is working.
One thing I can tell you is that the package doesn't lists 1700 band in LTE AWS. But mine works ok on Tmo PR's network at least.

according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks#Americas
tmobile uses many blocks of 1700, depending on regions, but only on 1900 and 1700 mhz , and AWS is the one wrongly called 1700/2100 (1710 to 1755 uplink, and from 2110 to 2155 MHz downlink)
so in theory it has everything you need for tmobile in any area, maybe you need an update , check that no one messed with flashing your radio to some other model to make it work on their area

Hi i have 910C i can get a 4G signal i live in nyc my speeds are about 17 over 20 averagely and at best 30 over 30 hope that helps .

From what I can tell, you will probably be able to use it, but you said N910C, but linked us to an N910U. Either way I'll post my findings for both.
T-Mobile's bands are 2, 4, 5, and 12.
N910U's bands are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 28.
N910C's bands are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, and 20.
I'm new to this stuff, but this tells me that either one will mostly support T-Mobile. I would use an app to see which band you're currently utilizing on your phone, and pray that it isn't 12, cuz neither one will work.
Bonus: From what I can tell, the N910C will work completely on AT&T. :good:

Guys, any news if the Galaxy Note 4 SM N910C accept lte 1700. Becuase it was about to get it from a store. But like the picture above of the box it doesnt specifies the 1700 network. And the LTE in my country uses the lte 4 1700/2100.

Luis

The box lists it as AWS, which is band 4.

Did you ever buy it?
If so how is it working?
I'm in the same boat and would like to know as well

Fixed the 4g issue!
I have the N919c from UAE and I got it to work on 4g for tmobile by calling SUPPORT.
When we use auto assign to 4g network through the data settings it will not automatically pick the correct Tmobile APNs. The support rep told me what to type line by line to get it perfect and I'm on 4g as I type this. You have to call them to get the correct values for your region but we DEFINITELY CAN GET 4G IN THE USA! I'm in Tampa Bay Florida with 4g in the ghetto, lol
Yayz ☺

Everything is good. coming from the nexus 4, i feel i have more control in my device (excluding the rooting and unlocking situation), due to microsd card, removable battery, and usb otg. Performance-wise, I think this phone will last me a very long time (if not probably my last phone upgrade). I don't game much so as long as apps, video and music playback, and web browsing is fast. When the battery falls below standard, i can easily just buy a new one from a reputable third party.
I just notice some "build quality" issue tho. Like the metal shiny sides r very easily scratched, and the top left corner of the screen near the led, you are able to move it if you push it in (made a thread about this but it seem to be normal). My note 4 had a defect, which was the the proximity sensor isn't working, so i sent the device back and i'm waiting for a new one or waiting to be repaired.

Can you kindly check your phones to see if quad band UMTS is supported? Very curious to see if 850/1900 3g/HSPA are supported out of the box.
I think on the SGS, the code to view bands was *#2263#
Many thanks in advance!

That doesn't mean they are working. Many android phones show freqs in the service menu that they are not capable of.

Yes, but in stock form, those bands are NEVER enabled. Stock SGS only (and accurately) showed 3 bands enabled for WCDMA in automatic mode (see below), so this is VERY good news!
Thanks a bunch guys!!!
Any reason why expansys is telling their customers that the phones are locked down to two bands?

Well, like I asked the other gentleman who said he talked to "Expansys employees that claim to have been playing with an I9100 and it only showed 2 bands for UMTS supported"... HOW did Expansys do this exactly?
If it was Expansys in the UK (which is the only location where they would have the handsets at this time), they can't test the 850/1900 bands. Then, at the time they claimed to have seen only dual UMTS band support, root wasn't available so no way could they have checked the actual bands enabled.
My guess: They were talking out of their ass.
Its normal for only two 3G bands to be enabled at once in my own experience with unlocked phones. There may be exceptions but I havent run into them over quite a few phones from moto, SE HTC or nokia. I had read this was due to battery life and the fact that you are not going to be anywhere where you can use three of them. The question is I think if expansys knew what they were doing when they tried to switch to the 850/1900. The phone would have needed to be rooted I believe based on what I read and whether they took this step is an unknown. If they had switched over the fact that it showed 850/1900 enabled and they were dumped to 2G would be pretty good evidence it worked. I am surprised we have not yet had anyone drop an at&t sim in a rooted phone yet and put this to rest. My trigger button is most twitchy.....

Don't know about all those other phones, but if you look at my Samsung Galaxy S (unlocked) automatic band selection screenshot for 3g/WCMDA, it accurately only has the 3 supported bands enabled. 850, which its hardware does not support, is automatically disabled.
If these I9100s are on automatic mode, then I fully believe that 850 is indeed supported.
The point is that normally only two of them will actually work at once, not three or four. They can all be enabled but enabled and actually working at the same time is a different story.
edit... You keep on preaching to the choir btw, I think it works too, my point all along is you dont know it works until it actually does. Been right here in this exact spot and burned before. Dont think it will happen in this case but it can happen. For me when someone has it working it works. Until then I think it should work but dont know for a fact. Neither do you. As of my typing this not a single person has reported it working on AT&T bands or even being able to actually switch to and enable them in any search I have done which would last be about as long as it took me to type this ago.
Many phones shows frequencies in the service menu that they are not capable of. For example, the T-mobile G2X...

I agree that it "should" work, but like the g2x, we will not know for sure until someone actually does it.

Yeah, I think we're again in violent agreement, that's why I'm not preaching to you specifically. BTW, where is the technical proof that since my SGS has 3 UMTS bands enabled default, only 2 of them work at anytime? I work in antenna design, and from my understanding of band selection for most wireless chips, they don't necessarily work in pairs.

Your screen only shows that you can personally enable whatever band you want, doesn't show your phone's actual DEFAULTED/automatic mode enabled bands. You're not showing what every I9100 user above is showing. I hate to say it, but seriously, apples & oranges.
Since you're really bent on proving a point, can you show me which bands were ACTUALLY enabled with that g2x after you click on "Automatic?" Then, we'd be comparing the same thing.

Thanks a bunch, but their response is a bit vague as they could be talking about just 2G/Edge + Voice over quad-band GSM. We are debating the quad-band UMTS 3G/HSPA support that is specified on Samsung's website, but has been challenged as of late.

Will this phone support all ATT voice and data frequencies? I plan to use it with an ATT sim card. If it will not work with the ATT sim card, I need to cancel the order. The phone will be useless to me.

Right, but you didn't specify 3G/HSPA speeds on AT&T data. UMTS/3G bands are separate from your normal GSM quad-bands. The GSM quad-bands will still give you AT&T voice and data, but the data portion will only be 2G/Edge speeds at best.
Hope this helps to clarify why Clove's response is somewhat vague.

Samsung Galaxy Note LTE (Korean Version) support T-Mobile USA HSPA+?

Anyone knows it this thing supports TMobile 1700/2100 AWS Band? I am eagerly waiting for this device that will support TMobile USA AWS band/Wind Mobile Canada or Penta Band.
Or at least 3g?
As it was just announced, your going to have to wait a bit for details. As fare as well know its the same Note as ever, just with LTE compatibility on Korea.(which would NOT work on T-Mobile)

Hey, so there's been a lot of discussion on whether or not the new S.Korean version of the SGN will support the 1700mHz band.
It has been reported that it is CDMA.
If you go to wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_frequencies
and go down 3/4 of the page to where it says "Other Regions" you'll see the following:
"CDMA S. Korea 1750–1780 1840–1870"
That would seem to say that it will indeed support T-Mobile...
thoughts?

I don't understand. T-Mobile uses GSM. CDMA is a different technology than GSM. Why would you expect a CDMA phone to be usable on a GSM network?
Hey thanks! Whew, got a bit excited seeing the 1700 band in there, but if their 1700 band is only for CDMA, then you are quite right... no tmobile... but then verizon people could start getting excited...
-GT
Sigh, if this phone had T-Mobile bands, I would pay with cold hard cash right now. =(
Sucks that we can't even get the Exynos version of this, at least not for another year until Samsung makes a new phone with a new SoC that sports T-Mobile's bands.
Ditch T-Mobile and get straight talk. T-Mobile sucks anyway.
I just gotta ask.... why do people say T-mobile sucks?
I don't understand as I've only ever had great reception with them and great speeds. Plus my phone bill is smaller than if I went to AT&T, and I get more data and minutes. I have many times over the years been with friends or family who can't get reception on AT&T or Verizon and there I am rockin it on T-Mobile. In fact, some of my friends who use AT&T have started saying "More dropped calls in More places" about their AT&T service.
I mean if someone said AT&T sucks, I'd totally agree. They charge an arm and a let, they limit your data, and give you crap for minutes, and from what I see my friends experience, their coverage sucks in comparison to T-Mobile.
But that's just been my friends and family and my experience.

-UPDATE-
Oh yeah, and if you're checking out the threads here, you'll see loads of people having issues with AT&T now shutting down their data on their SGN. So... AT&T doesn't really seem like a ride I want to buy a ticket for.
Who said anything about AT&T? I said straight talk. They use AT&T towers but have much better pricing. T-Mobile sucks because their phone selection is lacking and now because of their frequencies, you can't even get the Note.

How does the pricing look like on Straight Talk?
Been out of contract for close to a year now, just rocking an old HD2 that still works. Been so itchy with all these giga-sized screen phones.
Any new information available?
Hey guys I was it a store in Italy today they carry the note for purchase without a contract on this company called TIM.
I checked the specs on the box it has the correct T-Mobile bands.

Huawei P8Max T-Mobile Frequencies?

Huawei P8Max supports these frequencies:
mobile network 2G: GSM 850/900/1800 / 1900MHz 3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900 / 2100MHz 4G: FDD LTE1800 / 2100 / 2600MHz (band: B3 / B1 / B7)
I live in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Will I get LTE? I read that T-Mobile LTE frequency is 1700/2100. According to the stats above, 2100 is listed.
Thank you!
That phone will not work well with T-mobile USA LTE. For best performance you want (bands) B2/B4/B12. From what you posted, it doesn't look like that would even work with some of T-mobile USA's HSPA which is also 1700/2100. It would only work with the 1900Mhz HSPA, which is quite a limitation in my opinion. Sorry!
If anyone has imported this phone and tried it with T-Mobile service - please post feedback here. Like the OP, very interested to know if the phone will get 4G service, or if there is anything that can be done to unlock T-Mo LTE bands in the firmware
If anyone has imported this phone can you please tell me what USA providers support this phone. Would one have better performance than another? I don't know much about the technical aspects of cell phones and am getting so frustrated trying to find a provider! Thanks for your time!

Store admin from honormi.com told me Sprint in US support P8Max LTE frequencies for the version they sell. Don't know if what he said is true and I'm certain neither of the GSM providers AT&T/T-Mobile support P8Max's LTE bands.

Hhhhmmmmm. I have been researching both the P8MAX and the MEDIAPAD X2 for a long time now. (Because I am not a good technical person). I am going to try to check the 701L, 702L and 703L on the website willmyphonework.NET to see if that website (highly recommended to me) agrees. I checked GSM carriers and there was no LTE support... I will try Sprint! Thanks!

WOW! Willmyphonework.NET DOES say that the 703L (they don't have the 701L or the 702L listed) is LTE supported by Sprint USA. I just can't believe it! I have been researching both the P8MAX and the MEDIAPAD X2 for HOURS (on a daily basis) because I am not a phone expert. I cannot believe that not even ONE person piped up to say that their P8MAX was LTE supported on Sprint! You have now given me something else to obsessively research! Lol!

Hi xxfirerican,
I'm not sure you're right on that one.
There has already been quite some info (even apps) on how to unlock additional LTE bands on Qualcomm powered devices. Look here on XDA
Now even reports come in on Exynos devices (SGS6) being put into Diag Mode and adding LTE bands. Link to be found here on XDA. This being possible because lot of other chipmakers do use the Qualcomm modem patent and/or chip.
Now the question is, does this work for Kirin setup too...
I've been looking all around, but still haven't found any reference on the modem being used on the Kirin 935 chipset / P8 Max.
Could someone shed some light on this?
***EDIT***
I tried the ##366633# / ##DMMODE# code on my daughters unrooted P8 (she won't let me root it...) and got some reaction indeed, which might suggest that this code could work on rooted phone with Kirin chipset.
Could someone with a rooted phone confirm this?
Kind regards,
Got my p8 max cannot get it to get internet on T-Mobile. Texting works, contact sync works but no internet so many apn settings out there not sure what is correct

I've been using my P8max since the end of July on Lycamoblie, a T-Mobile MVNO, and I have internet access, albeit, extremely slow 3g/2g access. I'm on WiFI 90% of the time so I'm ok with this. I knew this when I bought the phone so no surprises for me but I wonder why you're not able to get any internet on your phone. That worries me a little if I ever decide to switch from Lycamobile, will I have issues too...
Hi there,
Given the recently announced Mate S' chipset specifications which are almost identitcal to P8 Max, it would be exciting to see if we could port the modem files to the P8 Max and obtaining a far wider LTE compatibility.
Should be possible, wouldn't it?
Regards,
Has anyone tried buying sprint data or boost data only?

QUESTION,THESE PHONES HAVE DUAL SIM....if one goes to willmyphonework.net it tells u that the p8max and honor x2 will only receive 4g LTE signal via sprint and boost mobile, but the 2g and 3g wont work. So, can I buy a ten dollar data plan and use it with my ATT in my dual sim tray?
I've got the P8 Max 701L and I'm not getting LTE in the status bar but check out my speeds. The first pic is with Cricket Wireless service, the second is with MetroPCS, both GSM carriers.

Has some issues with buffering 1080p youtube video in lower signal areas though.

Hey do you mind posting your APN settings? I'm with metropcs and I'm told I can use T-mobile towers now. A screenshot would suffice. Thanks

Did the settings provide LTE internet speeds?
I am looking into getting the device but am apprehensive because of the LTE connectivity issue that several people have mentioned, but others have denied. Locally, tmobile towers only provide LTE, edge does not connect to the internet at all.
Thanks

Warning: Banggood sold fake X821 4/64 GB in oct./nov. 2018 -> NO LTE band 20 !!!

This is a warning to all buyers of the Le Max 2 X821 sold by banggood in october / november 2018 with 4/64 GB!
They sold some sort of patchwork phone with bodies of X821 / X820 with suspectful having internals of X829.
Reason:
- Le Eco aka LeTV never build an X820/X821 (for the chinese or indian market) with 4/64 GB - the only model having this combination was the X829 for US
- LTE band 20 is not possible to connect (tested with several SIM cards)
- LTE band 20 cannot be activated (tested several firmwares)
Please test your device and report please!
Suggested app for testing: "Network Signal Guru" from playstore.
1. Root device
2. Start app
3. Grant root privileges to app
4. Tap three-dot-menu (upper right)
5. Select "Lock bands"
6. Select "LTE"
7. App shows usable bands
--> Please post results
Thanks!
I think I bought one of them.. I thought something was weird with the device model and firmware.. Well.. at least it works in my network.. Might get rid of it though as it has the camera problem..
I bought one of those too.
how to do the testing for the actual usable bands to be sure?

Please root device and install the App "Network Signal Guru" from playstore.
Start this app, grant root priviliges. Then tap upper right three-dot-menu.
Then select "Lock bands", then "LTE". After this the app will show the usable bands. Please post result here (screenshot). Thanks.
I got the following bands for my "X821": 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12 and 17 (20 is missing).
For comparison: On my bq M5 I got all bands usable in germany: 1,3,7 and 20 (800 MHz)

Are you referring to this: https://www.banggood.com/LeTV-LeEco...8.html?rmmds=search&ID=46149&cur_warehouse=CN ?
But if you scroll down to specs you'll see this:
4G: FDD-LTE: B1(2100)/B3(1800)/B7(2600)
TDD-LTE: B38(2600)/B39(1900)/B40(2300)/B41(2500)
I do not see B20 listed there.
Plus, Max 2 for $130 with 4/64 GB?
That should be a raised red flag, considering the fact that a year ago *real* X821 3/32 GB was selling for $180-190.
Can you return it? I would.

Yes, I am referring to this. Until yesterday evening B20 was listed there. As I am new here to xda I cannot post screenshots... sorry
Thank you for your warning. :fingers-crossed: I was about to buy this at banggood (same link) and immediatly refrained after seeing your post.
after checking:
1. there is no LTE band 20 in this phone (and yes, when I ordered the phone it had band 20 in the product specs, now removed)
2. only one sim slot is working!!!! NO DUAL SIM!!
3. the box is fake, including the sticker with a production date of 07/2018
4. the charger is only 2A charger compared to the original 3A charger of the X820/X821 I have
the rest of the phone specs are comparable to my other X821, the roms work. it just seems the screen is slightly different in quality. The phone is definitely fake, possibly from the same factory than the original.
I have noticed that charger is not original, but other than that it looks legit.
Both sim slots work and i have 4g , probably my provider has other 4g frequencies too, i use 3g for battery anyways.

The focus problem. Clicking noise while is trying to focus and many times won't focus properly. Hit and miss. That's in stock ROM. Any other custom ROM is worse

I seem to have luck. Camera is working perfect on my device. But I will check dual-SIM, because other user wrote, on his Le Max 2 it does not work.
I would not call it fake if it is really x829 instead of x821, it is still better than refurbished or real fake. As i remember x829 was more expensive than x820/821, cdla earphones could not be the only reason.
Charger is leeco but i do not know for which model it was for with 1A, charger for my old x600 was 2A.

No earphones included here! I've two of these fake devices with band 20 missing. Band 20 is still an important band in Germany. There is a reason why different models exist. Calling something fake is absolutely legit in this case if someone (banggood) flashes the firmware to pretend it's another device and sells without pointing to this circumstance. I will even go that far to call it a fraud.
Well, I have bought my phone from banggood during that period (rose gold, as it was the only colour available), and two SIM cards work fine in this model, have installed LineageOS 15.1 and it works beautifully and it supports fix for camera focus (pictures are really nice). I have not been able to check B20 yet, though - but I have trusted specifications and I may confirm, that it was listed there, as otherwise I wouldn't have bought this phone. So, it is another example how tough it is to trust the Chinese merchants...
Network Signal Guru lists following available LTE bands on my phone: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12 and B17. Indeed, B20 is missing and what about B38?
Frankly, am very confused - why does Network Signal Guru not list B26, B38, B39, B40 and B41 (sure, they are not used in EU at the moment but shouldn't it be reported by NSG)?
There is a site, which I have relied on - https://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-leeco-le-max-2 - and it is supposed to show, which phone supports this or that. Now, I am really confused... Sure, that phone is cheap and runs nicely - but nobody likes being lied to.
About Dual Sim: the preloaded rom allows data only in the first slot
Flashing any other rom from XDA solves that issue.
After checking band 20 it turns out the phone does not have it.
We have been fooled by BangGood or is it rather BangBad?
Dear Yerry,
I have LTE access almost everywhere in Poland, but only LTE bands B3, B7 and B8. I am not able to verify, whether there are areas where only B20 is available - and whether my phone would support it. But you cannot, alas, presume that if you have good LTE reception - it means, that B20 is there. There is a nice utility, 'LTE Discovery' which does not require root to report, which LTE band the phone uses at the moment. You may then have a look at its log, and verify which LTE bands were available - you can check there, if your phone has ever switched to B20. Mine has not, however. But, as said above, I do not know much about B20 availability in my country - so can't really tell. Gruesse.
Bought One to replace my old Galaxy Note 4. I check that I stop having 4G coverage with my current operator (Vodafone). This only emits LTE in the B20 band in my locality. So it has no B20 band. We have been deceived by Bangood.
Does someone have screenshots of a X829?
Would be intresting wheter it matches the fake version.
