I'd like to enable wifi hotspot and mobile data hidden toggles for the notification panel (as well as flashlight, if that's possible).
How can I do this?
I download a sqlite editor on my PC and edited "notifications_panel_active_app_list" (or whatever it's called) and added ";WifiHotspot" at the end, then wrote the changes. Then I overwrote the file with root explorer and rebooted the phone. However, when I rebooted, I got stuck in a reboot loop, so I went into TWRP and restored the backup of settings.db that I had made.
What did I do wrong? Did the sqlite editor I used jack something up when I re-wrote the database to save my changes?

Hi all~
I was using Allwinner A10 tablet before + custom rom and the ROM offer few handy things:
1) On the notification bar of wifi, I can immediately turn on or off the wifi instead of requiring to jump to SETTING
2) Want to add bluetooth notification bar as well
3) Long press power button can select reboot or screen capture as well
4) anyway I can add file association to .pdb => iSilo? By now ES explorer knows .pdb is ebooks but when I click it, it will said no program can open it...
Thanks a lot!

For stock? You could use extended controls, Widgetsoid, or notification toggles. (Apps in tve play store) As for the file part I have no clue.

Most of those are built into Cyanogenmod
You can add notification toggles to the stock ROM with widgetsoid; this video shows how to do it:
http://youtu.be/_GCiEqB5How?t=5m17s
so there is no way to add that button on the built in notification bar? must need a 3rd party widget? ('cause I changed to use tablet UI by altering the lcd.density so normal widget looks odd~ )
Thanks a lot!~
This is a guide for people who are obsessed with the NFC icon
Some firmware customizations have the NFC icon enabled, others have it disabled. Please note that NFC will work anyway, no matter if the icon is enabled or disabled.
Requirements:
Rooted Xperia Z with locked bootloader:
- For firmware versions 10.1.A.1.350 and 10.1.A.1.434, use goroh_kun root exploit
- For firmware versions 10.1.1.A.253, 10.1.1.A.307 and 10.3.A.0.423, use perf_event root exploit
Build Prop Editor
Start BuildProp Editor.
When a Superuser request pops up, tap 'Grant' or 'Allow'.

}
At the first start, a backup of 'build.prop' will be created automatically, which can be restored in case of any problems.
Scroll down to 'ro.nfc.icon.enable' and tap it.
Tap true/false under 'default values'. Select 'true' if you want to enable the NFC logo, select 'false' if you want to disable the NFC logo.
Tap 'Save'
When asked to reboot, tap 'Yes'.
Or the text editor of your File Explorer should be enough. Another link for the guide too.

I know, but I use Build Prop Editor in my guide because it's more noob-friendly
Also less chance to mess up your build.prop.
My stupid knock on stopped working, I tried checking for dead spots on the screen and testing proximity sensor. Both are working all the way so I was going to just update touch firmware as people suggest but my hidden menu is gone! I typed in the right number, but instead of the usual options it oy says null and when I click on it, it just says no implementation. How do I fix this or how can I update touch firmware without using the menu??
Are you on a custom Rom, in root explorer go to system/app and check if the hiddenmenu.apk/odex are there?

They are both in my system/app folder, but they don't show up anywhere. Like they are physically there but not installed and when I click it prompts me to install the apk which I do and then nothing shows up still. I'm on cloudystock with a ls980
I have now run afoul of this problem as well... the .apk is in the system folder, I can use the dialer code 3845#*801# to access the menu, but when it comes up all I see is null as the first and only item in the list. If you tap on null, it pops up a small box that says 'Not Implementation'. This is on OptimusG3 ROM V1.3.2 with the default kernel.
The thing is, this worked just fine all morning. Now, after lunch, poof! All gone.

Update: Reflashed the ROM and the Hidden Menu was restored. No idea what caused the problem though...
Coming from M8 i really miss the virtual buttons and kind of dislike the capacitive ones. It is strange that Samsung exchanged the back and Menu/Recent Buttons as well.
However, the Topic says it all, is it possible?
Thanks in advance!
I'd like this too.

Personally i would'nt disable the normal Menu and Back buttons but if you want the on screen buttons
You need to have root access and a root file explorer like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer. Open Root Explorer and find build.prop file.
System/build.prop
Make copy of the build.prop save to your SD Card in case you have a problem with the edited one so you can replace it if necessary
Open build prop file with long press then the option to open in text editor then add the following line at the end of the file.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Save the file and then reboot your phone. Once the phone has booted up, the navigation bar should be activated. If you want to remove it, simply remove the line or replace the build prop with your saved backup one
Can anyone upload a picture to see how it looks once activated?
I recommend CM12 Temasek build...with touchwiz i got a funny navbar in landscape view.

So i have recently flashed a custom rom meant for verzsion on my sprint phone, and i have done this before and the only thing i need to do to make it work is change the apn settings so text messaging goes through. ( it usually works fine, just has trouble retrieving SOME mms messages) well i went to mobile networks and apn settings aren't there. weird. only dating roaming option is in there. so i slept on it and the next day they showed up but it said i didn't have permission to edit or add a apn, so i rebooted my phone, and the apn settings aren't there anymore. I have tried asking voice control to open it, but says there is no app for that. So installed adb shell, and it recognizes my device and i can reboot it through adb, but thats about it. i am totally lost when i look up guides on how to change apn through it. What should i do? i need to change my apn to sprint if anyone is wondering.
Also, a good thing to mention is the current rom i am running is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-albe95-s6-port-1-0-t3092479
alright so i was able to get to my apns by downloading a app from google play and setting it as a system app. it opens up but now im getting this,

What about using the reset to default option?

still leaves me the same problem.
What about editing the apn file manually? I don't mean in the settings, I literally mean the actual file located somewhere in the system folders.
