Factory reset before and after? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When the lollipop update arrives, should you do a factory reset before and after install?

Coming from non rooted stock and updating via ota you shouldn't need to.

Download full firmware then flash with odin. But the last update for grand is 4.2.2, so why do you want to update?

4.4.2 ROOTED even after factory reset

My phone was saying UNROOTED in download mode when I was in 4.2.2. It actually was UNROOTED back then.
But after flashing 4.4.2 ,the download mode now says ROOTED. I did a factory reset and still ROOTED. I flashed official 4.4.2 KDZ using the LG support tool and offline method.
Any help?
D802 With Indian official 4.4.2 ROM KDZ.
try KDZ again 4.2.2 an saw again ROOTED or UNROOT ?
On 4.2.2 after Factory Reset shows UNROOTED. But changes to rooted on flashing KitKat.
Same thing happened to me until I did the following:
Restore to factory via the flash tool method. It still said rooted until I flashed the o 4.2.2. D still said rooted. Once I flashed o it changed to unrooted. Just for grins I went back to d, rooted and then flashed the kitkat .tot and it changed to unrooted. So, on my device anyway, the d .tot hated my face.

If we flash 4.4.2 KDZ and do factory reset, it will still show as ROOTED.
The only way around this problem is to downgrade to 4.2.2 and do a factory reset. Now the download mode will show UNROOTED. Then take 4.4.2 OTA. After OTA firmware update is complete, it keeps the UNROOTED status unchanged.
If anyone has managed to Unroot 4.4.2 using traditional offline flashing please report.

[Q] OTA help

I rooted with towelroot a few moths ago. The 4.4.4 OTA un-rooted my phone when I got forgetful and accepted it. Now I'm trying to remove all root evidence because it wont take the 5.0 update. I did factory reset but no luck. Any help is appreciated.
You need to use Odin and the correct firmware for your device. A factory reset only wipes data, it does not remove root.

Revert back to stock to get Nougat

I only have supersu installed, how can I get Nougat update without wiping?
Flash the same Stock firmware you have on your device and this shouldn't wipe it.

How do I update to the latest Factory image - No root/unlock full stock

I have a stock VZW S5 (Model# SM-G900V) running Android 5.0 (Build# LRX21T.G900VVRU1BOC4). (Last factory OTA update was on April 02, 2015)
I have not had Verizon for some time now so the phone was never used or updated for several years. I would now like to update to the latest factory image that VZW/Samsung sent out OTA.
Where can I obtain the factory image and how would I go about installing it?
I do not wish to root or unlock. I just want the newest factory image.
*FYI* System update does not work from phone settings. (has to be side loaded somehow)
Thanks in advance,
xJawlz
You could just extract this zip and flash the tar.md5 via Odin but it may require you to do a Factory Reset if it hangs on the boot animation or you could install Smart Switch and it will tell you that there is an update available and you can update from there.
If I'm looking to go back to fully stock, could I just update it regularly from the system update? I'm currently on a stock rooted rom Pb1?
