Does anyone have a definitive guide to fixing private mode? I hid some pictures before rooting and installing xposed (which broke private mode). I have Wanam's xsecurity module installed but it didn't fix private mode. If there is no way to fix it, where can I access the hidden files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi ,
OK , as far as i know Private mode is broken when you root .(my experience )
i have N910F device( Snap and rooted ,etc .)
I followed this post # 22 and # 32 @ angelky ,
yes it fixes S health, but also fixes Private mode ( link ) and it fixed my "lag " caused by Xposed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/xposed-t2904937/page3
I have seen other "fixes " Wanam thread/ fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-xshealth-bypass-secure-storage-t2878708
There is other threads with "fixes "also ..just choose which one to follow ?
good luck
I have tried pretty much everything I could find on XDA. Including wiping the phone, freezing the apps and then installing xposed. I guess there really isn't a proper fix
If you have previously configured Private Mode without Xposed Installed, then you can not access it anymore after installing this framework. But there is a method to make it work again without wiping all data.... Check this tutorial:

Hi,
Sorry but personally, the private mode was broken when I restored the data of system app with titanium backup. To solve it, I must factory reset and restore ONLY THE DATA OF USER APP.

Tried to enable private mode on my s5 and it started failing. I was rooted and had posed. Reset the pose settings to stock, still didn't work. Unrooted phone in supersu, and uninstalled all the apps i had that were root apps. Still nothing. Multiple reboots, a battery pull, nothing happening. Can anyone suggest me anything outside of a factory reset.
Restoring a backup from before you had rooted it?
You haven't provided any meaningful amount of information in aid of narrowing this down.
Which means that people can only make wild guesses.
What is your Knox status?
What root method did you use?
Did you install Xposed framework or use a custom ROM that includes Xposed?
Did you edit build.prop or use a custom ROM that has modified that file?
Have you frozen any system apps e.g. with Greenify or Titanium?
Post a screen shot of your "About Device" screen in the Settings menu
.
There are a number of threads about these two topics, I am going to consolidate my findings here.
First off root works great on the Sprint variant, secondly so does Xposed with S-Health and private mode. You just have to be careful how you set them up. There have been a lot of posts about freezing S-health and Private mode then clearing data but from my experience that is hit or miss. There are four basic steps to getting everything working and it should be done from a factory reinstall of software.
Root using Chainfire autoroot for Sprint and Teamwin 2.8.1.1 for Sprint (NOT THE RECOVERY IN THE EASY STEP ROOT THREAD) It will fail just pull the battery and boot to download to install the recovery (buttons HOME, VOLUME DOWN, AND POWER) boot to recovery then install supersu
Download and install Xposed (not Wanam) download and install XSecure Health module install Xposed framework reboot
Activate Xsecure Health module reboot
Clear Data for Health Service and S-Health reboot
Run Private mode and set up, run S-Health and setup.
Setup your Google and Samsung accounts
If you do these steps exactly without doing anything else I can promise you will have a rooted Sprint version with Xposed, Shealth, and private mode working. When I say exactly I am serious there are a lot of things that can/will mess you up like
Signing into google or samsung on reboot after installing factory software
Starting private mode before setting up xposed
Shortcutting by doing a factory reset instead of a factory software reinstall
Restoring your data Nandroid backup (Use Titanium etc for a program by program reinstall of apps)
BTW the problem here is a little bit deeper than uninstall xposed everything works. There is a something that is changed in the software with either xposed or wanam that can permanently kill private mode until you do a factory install. At the moment I am doing Nandroids before any change I make in Xposed.
The X secure module help my 915k to get s health back after trying all other advice, thanks

No problem, I've found that the xsecure can help with s-health, all these steps are for getting both working

Is there a way to get private mode working after root without xposed ? i've already tried to change the build prop ro.security.storage to false but doesn't worked.
I want to back to stock + root without any another modifications, like xposed, but i use a lot the private mode.. can anyone help me ? thanks.
Personally I had a strange result.
Xposed completely froze my phone, but before it did I too lost private mode.
The first thing I did after rooting was a nand backup, and restoring this after the xposed problem fixed everything. Both privacy mode and S-Health worked perfectly.
I have no idea why, but I have updated my rom since and everything still works.

Install Wanam xposed kit to disable S-health secure server. It can't function properly when xposed is installed

Try using the Xposed module XSecureStorage
Installed the xposed framework and xsecurestorage module.still doesn't work?
You have to delete a file from one of your root directories. I can't remember which one though. Do a search on XDA for a you tube video showing you which one. Also Wanam 's thread on his Xsecurestorage module tell you which one as well
Remember to move stuff out of private mode before deleting the file though!

This forum has a search box , use it !
So I've been searching for a fix for this for hours and I've fed up. I'll leave it up to you all.
Closest I've been able to find was here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722528
The issue is that I'm using PhoeniX ROM v6.3 which has Private Mode fixed. But when I attempt to enable Private Mode I receive "Failed to enable Private Mode. Try again." So I did a TWRP backup and a wipe just to see if it was a setting or a ROM issue. Private mode works.
I'm using fingerprint security if it matters.
My theory is that when I attempted to use private mode from a previous rom (that didn't have it functional) and dirty flashed PhoeniX ROM over it (which went smoothly) then the previous data carried over. But I tried to clear it manually (as opposed to a complete wipe) but still no luck.
Any other suggestions?
Sure, I can do a complete wipe and re-install. In fact, I've been doing that all day. But now, for some reason my Find My Mobile won't enable!
If it isn't one thing, it's another.
Private Mod not working in Lollipop roms
Many others also have the same issue. I am using rooted G900FD 5.0.
I too have exhausted all search results but couldn’t find a solution for a LP ROM.
We don’t have an option to run in Dalvik mode and also Xposed framework is also not available on LP (XSecureStorage module solution).
Pls suggest alternatives if anyone else have found them!
Really? No ideas huh?
