I've been awaiting my all time favorite ROM, and just wanted to see if there was anyone working on it yet. I'm no developer, and I can't find anything on Google as far as development for PA goes for this device, so I wanted to see what XDA was up to.

You currently won't see PA unless its on Dev Edition device as consumer edition phones on safestrap can only use stock kernel - and PA uses AOSP kernel.
Best chance you have of seeing this is if someone pulls out the hat trick and figures out a modified stock kernel to work with AOSP (very very not likely) OR the bootloader gets unlocked

I'm OK now, I'm happy to have waited this long for an AOSP ROM.
I can wait longer if it becomes a L ROM for our G3!!
Great news !
it's hard to say...i'm working on a lollypop port since weeks now and the main problem is a kernel panic related to the modem resetting.. i think that once i will figure out how to solve it i will be able to release a first beta
It is usually very hard to get new android versions ported to a device where there is no official rom of the same version for it - you basically are going in blind trying to get all the hardware to work.
If we are lucky we might see one or two builds before LG release theirs (which is now less than 2 months away!) but I would expect them to be buggy with some hardware not working - so far we don't even have a fully working Kitkat AOSP build for our device.

bah, who needs the LG Lollipop rom? probably gonna have their own skin again which, in my opinion, is inferior to stock lollipop. plus, if you have not read, Android 5.0 Lollipop gives developers the option to completely lockdown devices and prevent root, specifically in our devices where bootloader is not unlockable. Don't think I'll take the risk though. It's a huge one!

this is true although (and i may well be wrong) i would presume this would only apply if you take the update from OEM and not custom rom .... if we take a flashable custom rom i would assume that this lockdown is completely irrelevant and fairly risk free providing the devs can get all the hardware side of things up and running
ah yes, you are right. personally though i would prefer to go straight to stock rom after rooting. not really sure what the difference is (if any big changes) between a rooted and non-rooted stock rom

that all depends what you want to be able to do on your device ..... without root you cannot use xposed (although until made to run on ART it wont work with lollipop onwards ) ... you need root to delete / modify any / all system apps and other tweaks under the hood ..... there are many things you could need root for

Root alone does nothing. It's what you do with the elevated privileges that matters. With root access, you pretty much have complete control over the phone's software, so you can do next to nothing, or completely overhaul everything to the point where it is indistinguishable from a stock, non-modified phone.
By the way... If LG isn't blowing smoke up our backsides, we'll have a working Optimus UI w/ 5.0.. guessing 6 weeks, give or take. And it remains to be seen how quickly they release their sources. Until those sources are released, any 5.0 custom ROMs are going to be Lollipop on top of LG's KK stuff (kernel, radio/modem, graphics drivers, etc). Not sure how stable that will all be. My only experience with a phone running a ROM like that was running early KK builds on my old Galaxy S3, which was Android 4.4 built on top of Samsung's Jelly Bean stuff. And that was buggy as hell, tons of problems. Basic stuff, like every time it switched from Wi-Fi to mobile data, I got a kernel panic and it would reboot.
So I would be wary of any LP ROMs for the G3 that didn't include the native LP stuff from LG.

OEM unlock meaning ?
I've searched and searched and all I could find are posts and articles claiming the Google Play Edition will have official Lollipop support but not a single thing for the v500.
Has LG abandoned this tablet? What's the latest news on this? Is there even an official 4.4.4?
I've been using CM11 so I'm a bit out of the loop on stock firmware but I've been wanting to go back to stock hoping Lollipop would come out.
Only lg knows if an official lollipop ever comes. And no, there is no official 4.4.4.
I am on aosp lollipop since December and it's great.
I keep hoping and periodically emailing LG USA to say "any word?" If you have not emailed them please do. My hopes are starting to wane... I love the tablet but no official lollipop would stink.
Did the GPE get official Lollipop?
Is it possible to flash the GPE ROM on to the V500?
Is this being done already with any success?
I am tempted to pick one up new at 229.
Is there a better idea out there?
Do I need to learn how to use search better?
Please feel free to answer any or all of these questions, or even criticize my unnecessary line breaks.

Since the G-Pad Software was very similar to the G2. I wouldn't give up hope (or applying gentle pressure to LG support) for a lollipop update just yet...

1. Probably, but that doesn't matter
2. No
3. No, obviously
4. Okay, then buy one
5. For getting Lollipop on the V500 with the ability to use things such as the IR sensor as a remote control? No.
7. Sure. Google how to Google better
Anything else?
I am running Infected's CM12 on my G Pad. It's really nice.
In the AOSP and CM 12 the battery life and the performance is the same of the stock 4.4.2?

Id say even better. Official cm12.
Official CM 12 nightly here... everything ok.
Only bluetooth that at every reboot misses my keyboard, but battery life is ok & great.
Performance: great cpu performance, less on gpu (proprietery blobs do it better) ...... some games like sim city have slow downs....
Benchmarks confirm... great CPU + VM performance, but less points with GPU.
But with that adreno drivers the performance of GPU cannot be paired with the stock?
are we ever gonna get this? been over 4 months on gpe.
I believe so, if the G2 got it than we sure are gonna get it.

has anyone tried installing this? is it even possible?
I have a question, there is progress of a custom user software on the device? (Z00D), I just came to XDA and see a lot of firmware range to more expensive models (ZE551ML and others), and on our ZE500CL's nothing ( I'm sorry for my bad English ) P.S Can someone is already working on the firmware?

There was one user that offered to port Cyanogenmod( @jrior001 ) , but Asus didn't provide a working kernel source file needed to accomplish that. They have updated it twice already, but I don't know if they fixed it yet.
So, we can only wait and see. We probably won't get a custom ROM, again, thanks to Asus, but who knows, there may be some hope for it.

The updated kernel source filled in the questions I couldn't solve. I already posted a working TWRP recovery build in my recovery thread. I started working on a CM port with some guidance from the Zenfone 5/6 devs as the ze500cl/Z00D models are closer to those devices than the other zenfone 2 models. When I have something that mostly functions I'll get a thread up.
Word to the wise, I tested my recovery by flashing a full stock build.
While everything checked out OK including flashing Intel's "unique" boot.image format, a full stock flash undid my unlocked bootloader. Something to look into for anybody tinkering with modified stock ROMS.

Bro, I'm almost positive he's done developing for the z00d. He gave the ze500cl to his kid. I had to get a different phone, unlocked gsm, unlocked bootloader, about 25 roms to choose from, moto g3 2015... Best buy was $150. This zf2 is dead, unless someone else picks up development.

Hello everyone, I'm thinking of compiling some cool KitKat ROMs for titan (Mokee, Carbon, AICP, PAC, AOKP, etc). But I have a doubt. Would anyone even go for kitkat? Like we have mm ROMs, lp ROMs, would you flash KitKat? I personally would love to, as not all mm/lp ROMs deliver the best performance our device is capable of. And plus, KitKat can have more features than ANY lp/mm rom. So just a shout out to know how many people would love to have KitKat revived. If the number is desirable, I'll build some cool KitKat ROMs for titan

I never used any KK ROM, so what would be the advantages over marshmallow?
I really like kitkat roms but since my phone (XT1064) came with Android L, it has a different front camera which I think isn't supported in kitkat. I flashed CM11 and front camera wasn't working. So people with this same phone variant probably won't use kitkat roms for this reason. This might be something to take in count.

You rock man! I'd like to see, if it's possibile, an update of KK PA, because i loved that rom, but also every new kitkat rom would be awesome!
i prefer kitkat more than lolipop. its too stable more than lolipop .Yes lolipop has some new features but in stability and perfermance no one will take kitkat's place . i will wait for you new kitkat rom
Add me here too. Like to try a new kit-kat rom.
For me, if you can build something with AOSP base ill use it for sure, since i dont like CM base roms at all, but now im not sure how many AOSP based roms are for KK. But, as everyone is saying, you can go, i think some people will be happy testing them

The problem is that no one maintained AOSP KK for our device. LuK did Cm 11 but had to abandon it cause well he was doing cm 12.1 and AOSP 5.1.1.
Plus there is no layers support( I think) since layers was introduced in LP.
@Vidhanth Go for it. I would like to use KK again.

Yes ofc a kitkat ROM would be welcome, maybe slimkat based? but don't expect too many users(You can expect me, lol!) Also if you don't mind me asking, how about an updated 5.1.1 ROM? I don't like 6.0.1 romS much because of the touchbug. Any 5.1.1 rom would be cool
Sure!! I would definitely flash kk rom. Personally I love KitKat. I was thinking of flashing PA 4.6 B5 today.

If you could recreate the magic of Paranoid Android complete with Halo and Floating Windows (KK/JB), I'd be the first to download!
I would try it for sure. If it works fluently I'll maybe stay with it. MM ROMs still have some bugs.
