I have a rooted Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 (SM-T337T) on the T-Mobile network.
I can receive SMS/MMS messages either on WiFi or LTE. Sending SMS/MMS messages fails on WiFi or LTE. I have confirmed that all the T-Mobile SMS/MMS settings are correct. I am not sure if sending SMS/MMS worked before I rooted the device. I have not been able to find a solution. Anyone have any ideas?
How did you root?
Is a factory reset doable?
Well, just for the heck of it I swapped the SIM card from my phone and put it into the Galaxy tab and tried to send a message and it worked. So the issue is with the SIM card. I called TMO and they did not see any issues and told me to go to a TMO store and get a new SIM.

I went to a TMO Corporate store and after telling the person my issue, the person insisted that SMS/MMS messaging does NOT work for any tablets. He humored me my giving me a new SIM card anyway. Swapping out the SIM card resulted in SMS/MMS message failing to send.
Can anyone else confirm that sending SMS/MMS messages works on their Samsung Galaxy 4 Tab? If so does it work for them over LTE as well as WiFi?
I would like to get a confirmation from others before I call back TMO Support. I am in the USA, so confirmations from US based TMO subscribers.
Based on http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-11584 SMS/MMS should work with the Samsung Galaxy 4 Tab
Thank you in advance.

My stock t337t has no trouble with plain text either wifi on or of.
Well the issue is resolved. After finally escalating this issue it turns out the provisioning was incorrect on the SIM card.

Ok so i spoke to HTC today and told them I could only send MMS to other TMO customers..not ATT or Verizon. The woman told me to change my APN settings..which i did and they did nothing....But!, she insisted that I should not be having that problem and that all MMS should be going to who I send them.
Also today I stopped in my local TMO store and explained my problem and they said they could not help me and because its not a TMO phone they cant guarantee that MMS will work..they really said that. I explained when I had my Iphone I was able to send and receive but they insisted they couldnt help me.
Im on at&t and i can get mms, but i cant send them, tried to put in the att apn settings and i still cant send them.
Any person that uses att on the nexus have them working?
thanks
I'm on T-Mobile haven't messed with any settings, but I've been able to send and receive picture messages from my friends who are on AT&T. Was also able to send out to someone with Cricket. Not sure if this helps any.
sounds like a network issue, T-Mobile may need to do a trouble ticket for you to investigate the issue.
mms issues
I have worked with all of the big 4 U.S. cell carriers in the last couple of years.
If mms is working within your network (in this case tmobile to tmobile) but not to other networks it is usually because the two networks are not set up to handle mms messages exactly the same way. If one network sends the mms at a file size that is too large for the other network, then the message will not go through most times.
It seems like there is an issue with the N1 not resizing pictures for mms. Most phones downsize the resolution to transmit the mms under the network size limits (usually between 300-500kb). If the N1 is not resizing the file it is likely that the mms will not go through.
The easiest way to determine if your mms settings are correct on your phone is to send yourself a mms, if you receive the mms correctly then your network settings are correct.
The issue you describe sounds like a problem with one network handing off the mms to the other network. There is probably nothing T-Mobile can do about it. Call technical support and file a trouble ticket anyway and have the people who you are trying to send the mms to call their service providers and do the same thing.

what r your APN settings?
Also do you have anything in your password username?...I mistakenly erased that.
This started yesterday. I cannot send nor receive any text messages. I have tried shutdown, pulled battery, pulled sim card, and switch to airplane mode & back...
any suggestions?
TIA
My friend's SGS3 didn't send or receive texts after he got it. Call AT&T and make sure everything's set up right. He said it happened with his phone before that, too.
You may not have the proper LTE data plan active on the line. Just give AT&T a call.

This happened to me too....the BB employee didnt set me up on LTE data plan, just swapped over my 3g plan. Now that we got that all squared away everything is fine but I cant receive MMS messgs. They said theres a problem with the network and opened a case, which should be resolved by the 5th.

Just bought verizon galaxy S 5. Changed SIM to AT&T from straight talk. First of all was that a mistake? When ever i leave a wi-fi area the phone goes to emergency calls only. Email and text stops as well. Can't get voice mail to work anywhere
Would appreciate any help.
Thank you
Just a thought, go to settings /more networks and make sure you have the correct network checked
New to verizon galaxy s 5
The network was correct . Wondering if im in a bad area. My Iphone 4 works fine. Might be AT&T

Wait... you put an AT&T sim in your phone? This is a Verizon forum. If I misunderstood, please tell me.
Just to be clear because you didn't state it in your post, you must unlock your phone prior to using a non-Verizon SIM. You can sometimes get these unlock codes from Verizon but you can also buy them online. I've used GSMLiberty.net with success before. After that, you should be able to pop in your SIM from the new carrier and begin using it right away. In some cases, you may need to manually add the correct APN for your carrier. Find these settings under Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Access point names. Click the little plus icon in the top right and manually enter AT&T's APN information. You may need to Google that as I don't know AT&T's APN info.
I use my Verizon S5 on T-Mobile's networks with absolutely no issues, I assume it would be a similar experience for AT&T as well. For me, I put my T-Mobile SIM card in and could make calls and receive texts, but mobile data and MMS was not working properly until I manually added the correct APN information. After that, MMS, 4G LTE data and everything is working flawlessly.
You do not need an unlock code for a LTE Verizon phone. These phones are already unlocked. One must set the correct APN.
Do not buy an unlock code!
I have used my Verizon S5 with att and t-mobile.
Good luck.

Thank you for your posts. Most of the phone works. When I leave a wi-fi area my phone goes to emergency calls only. When I go back to a wi-fi area the normal call service works again. I'm new to verizon and samsung. Wanted to use straight talk because i didn't feel like paying a fortune for service. I'll get it figured out some way.
Thank you again
I have the Verizon model of the S6 Edge+ (SM-G928V) I want to know if it's possible to flash it with the t-mobile rom??
I currently have a T-mobile MicroSIM that i put into the verizon phone. I had to configure it with the t-mobile APN to get calls/text to work. Currently I have a few issues:
1) I can make & receive calls, send & receive texts, but CANNOT send mms, but i can recieve mms sent to me. (I tried to see if enabling wifi would make a difference but it doesn't)
2) I get an annoying message anytime the phone reboots that says I'm not using a verizon wireless SIM. (if anyone knows how to get rid of that, great. if not it's not such big of a deal)
3) How to remove the Verizion boot loading screen??
Do I run the risk of bricking or tripping knox if i try to use a t-mobile rom on a verizion phone? Or does anyone know how to resolve any of the issues i'm having? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. (and No, just getting the t-mobile version of phone is not an option for me)

You cannot rom that phone because Verizon nazis lock all bootloaders on all their devices. As for the sending mms you'll probably need to take it to a t-mobile store and have them sim unlock and flash their full apn. That should do it but I can't say for sure since I've never used a Verizon phone on t-mobile
So just to update: The issue with not being able to send mms messages is because of the Message+ app that was set as default messaging app (factory reset setting). When I changed the messaging app to the "Messages" Samsung app I'm able to send&receive mms with no issues. (Please note the proper APN settings must be set)
The other issues such as the loading screen and the SIM notification I'm not too worked about, but if you have any help on those that should be great.
The only *real* issues with using t-mobile sum card with vzw phone is that the service isn't all that great, I seem to have 3g in some areas where I can't send mms while on the phone, but other than that it works well on an unlocked phone.

I believe the radios in verizon phones don't cover all the band's that t-mobile uses. However t-mobile phones tend to run pretty well on Verizon so your signal issues will continue until t-mobile launches band 12 in your area, which is the primary band that Verizon uses for Lte
Samsung lists band 12 on their site for the Verizon S6e+.
Swipe left or right to get rid of the SIM message. I've posted a similar thread here too.

Okay so I have been fighting this phone for months now. I am so ready to just sell it to some phone trade-in company for $175. I am at a complete loss.
My father-in-law ran over his SM-G935V (yes, Verizon) with a golf cart and broke the screen and back plate. He then gave me the phone so I could fix it and use it. I replaced the screen and back cover on it and ordered a verizon sim card (I was on straight talk BYOP program using an ATT sim card) I activated the sim card and it didn't work on this phone. It just said, "Searching for Service". I put the sim card in my Moto X (Pure Edition) and it worked fine and had full signal. I took it back apart and made absolute sure that the antenna and every other connectors that I unplugged were seated and connected properly.
Seeing all the verizon bloatware and that it was on 6.0, I then thought it may be a software issue so I decided to get the G935U 7.0 factory unlocked image from sammobile.com. I waited for like 4 hours and downloaded both the unlocked version and the Verizon version. After using odin to flash both of them (one at a time of course) neither worked . The flash did work perfectly in every other aspect and the phone is now a G935U. I still have the original problem, however, where the phone shows "no service" and wont connect to a cellular network. It auto configures for what ever sim card type I put in (verizon, ATT ect) and connects to Wifi.
I'm so done with this thing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks guys!!
I have the same problem, I haven't find any fix to this error...
I didn't have much money into the phone so I sold it on one of the phone trader websires for $180.
Case closed haha
No service message
I'm using smg935v with straighttalk byop sim card.. every time I restart my phone it says searching for service.. no text messages or incoming phone calls can be recieved. However, if I open the phones dialer and attempt to complete any dialed number.. Verizon wireless reappears and full phone functionality returns. I realize this is way late on your post and this probably doesn't matter.. but this may help anyone else experiencing this issue in the future.
I have a Verizon Galaxy S7 Edge G935V. I use it on Straight Talk with the AT&T sim card I took out of my Nexus 5.
I had to go into the settings and change it from CDMA to GSM. There is another choice called Global.
I tried both GSM and Global with same results.
Next I went into the APN settings and added a new APN. I entered all the information required for Straight Talk.
The phone is working fine except for 2 things I noticed. The verizon s7 Edge is missing LTE Band 17 and I think 12 too.
In my area Band 17 LTE is what my nexus 5 would connect to verified by an app called LTE Discovery available on Play Store.
On the S7 Edge it doesn't get Band 17 LTE. Fortunately I can connect to another band but its not quite as strong but it works.
I can surf, text and send pictures. When sending pictures I noticed the messenger program (default) isn't reducing the size of
the pictures small enough to work with text messages. I struggled with this for a week until I tried an experiment.
I used an app called Photo and Picture Resize. The App lets me take a picture, resize it and then send it with the messenger app.
Once the picture was reduced it sent fine. My nexus 5 never had this problem.
The other thing I noticed is sending a video text results in terrible quality. I have tried the lowest resolution
to the highest resolution setting with no improvement. I did a search on this and others seem to have the same
problem with the other versions of the S7 Edge, S8 and S9. I would like to find a fix for that.
The straight talk site offers the correct APN settings should you not know what the are.
