Good companions.
First of all, ask forgiveness for my level of English, as I have no idea, and I am translating with Google translator.
You see, I think I have a problem with the Note four.
When I put the mobile on silent and it does get a mobile notification that makes a sound, the rear speaker is as if it was activated.
First I hear a small "click" followed by a noise as if air and again another "click".
I've noticed when I'm in a quiet room and give such twiter update. Or when I take a picture in silence.
Do you think it is problem of my terminal, or arrange with any upgrade?
Thank you

It sounds normal. Perhaps the speaker is activated with every notification but when the phone is set on silent, it just doesn't play any sound and it switches back off. I don't think your device is faulty. :good:
Sorry for my English, but I did not understand well. My terminal then right? So what happens is normal? How will you spend it well?

I have a N910F and noticed it this morning. I here it, it's like a frying noise, and if you get close enough you here it every time a sound is routed throughout the speaker on or off.
I'm on Lollipop 5.0.1 Baseband version N910FXXU1BOC3.
I don't think it's normal, Samsung is playing around with the audio system, you couldn't turn off sound completely until this ver of lollipop and still even when audio is completely off you can here the speaker fry when something is routed to it.
as for me... i dont get that at all. No clicks or anything when on silent. Tho some ppl have heard this sound, it may be just normal operating mechanical noise, & nothing to worry about. As long as the speaker works when on, and mutes when off. Life is good

I think you will find that it's simply the device's backlight. If you turn the brightness up, it will most likely stop. The PSP and the new DS Lite also make the high pitched whistle you describe. This is not a fault with your device, and there is no need to fret
It is not changing when i go to backlight option in system. If i turn off light i can hear it again, only if i put it on stand by it stops.

On to your problem, I have not seen anything wrong with my phone.
can run a test if its only with me or every hav the same problem
Ok go to phone app and press any Number key(it makes a tone) and then right away bring the phone speaker close to your ear for 10 secs and see if u hear any other sound other then the keytone. thanks and let me know the result, thanks a AALLOTTT,

Followed your instructions and "nope" no sound........
Its normal behaviour: turn your volume up all the way, trigger any sound. Then if you have good ears you can hear static at very low volume for about a second. Then the powermanagement cuts power to the amplifier and the phone goes completely silent again.
PS: Same behavior on my desktop PC running Fedora 12. You only hear the static from the soundcard if it suddenly stops ;-)
This is perfectly normal, when the hissing stops, thats the speaker turning off to save power, most other things with speakers do the same thing, it's not worth returning your beautiful Nexus One just for that...
EDIT: sorry, just noticed Volker1's post,
Yeah, I have the same thing, but as others said, it's normal behaviour.
Maybe the amplifier for the speaker is a bit noisier on this phone than some others, hence you can hear it before it gets switched off (might also explain the awful quality of the speaker phone experience)?
Hello everyone i have had my galaxy for awhile now and i dont know why i never posted this but phone reception is very bad. When someone calls me or i call someone i can hardly hear them, this is with the volume turned up to max.....is there a volume hack or something to turn up volume on inner calls past the max ?....anything at all would be helpful.
There is a way to turn up your volume but you'd have to do it every time you reboot your phone, just search the forums for it. I never had a problem with my galaxy s phones gt-i9000m and I had two of them. Maybe your phone is defective and you can exchange it?

are you sure you are putting the earpiece where it's supposed to go?
if you have it higher, you wont hear it, if you have it lower you wont hear it
it has to be exactly facing your inner drums
it's the same with all other phones i've had in the past
have you tried Bluetooth? perhaps that will work better for you?
my SGS sounds loud and clear, and i got bad hearing
Same problem with mine. I find it has something to do with the signal though. When I call OCTranspo or my voicemail or something it's loud and clear, but when I speak to people it always sounds like they're whispering.
hmm it seems fine right now....i really hope it was cause i was in a dead spot or low signal reception when i was on the phone....i will monitor the phone for the next few days and post here if i fall into this problem again thanks for the help guys!...oh and Gamer ill look into that bluetooth headset maybe.
the first 2 are recorded messages, so the audio quality is expected to be the same all the time
those are very good point of reference
that means whatever it is the problem is not the phone earpiece, but the people talking on their end
otherwise you'll be hearing whisper like sound from the voice recorded systems

I used that hack. worked alright
Turn your phone to the back to the camera is facing you, put the speaker next to the camera against your ear, do you very faintly hear some kind of static coming from it? Mine does that but I have no cllue why...
Is it noticeable when playing a video/music without putting it directly to your ear?
and is it noticeable when using headphones?
Some speakers pick up radio waves.... And speakers also make static when any type of airwave data passes thru the speaker...
**try putting ur phone right next to a computer speaker, while sending/ receiving a text... Bet you'll here some static..

I noticed this too, the earpiece is supposed to be shielded from the RF. Never heard this on any phone I had since my nokia 5190.
No one listens to their phone like that, so why should it matter...
And no, I don't hear this. Maybe you left you phone in a bad place and something happened to the speaker?
Its big brother reprogramming the neurons in your brain!!!
I just realized I sounded like Steve Jobs in my last reply: "No one listens to their phone like that, so why should it matter..."
I need a cocktail, or few...
I've had this since day one. Not a big deal. It only happens while in a call and it's so faint I don't notice it anymore
my g1 used to do that
just radio interference
I can only barely hear it when the screen is on...
I could care less, no real issue that I can think of.

its the ocean dude!
OMG... I was doing this and thought I looked pretty stupid and then an email came through! Nearly made me go deaf! Ouch!
I tried it and couldn't hear a thing. But maybe I've just attended too many concerts...
Good find, yeah I hear it

I misread the op's post. I have interference coming through the normal earpiece you use for phone calls.
On a side note, google talk has a bug where it will play the alert you have set for it through the ear piece when you are in a phone call instead of making a descrete beep. Almost made me deaf today while on a call.
I haven't heard it since I flashed v5
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
What's up guys! Need help! I bought this phone on eglobalcentral for about 120€. The problem is, when the loudspeaker turns off, it makes a "click" sound, during the day this is almost imperceptible but in a very quiet place it is annoying. I'll give you a example:
If I receive a messenger text, the loudspeaker needs to turn on in order to produce the notification sound and then it turns off, and when it does that, it makes that annoying click sound. My interpretation is that the gain is too high perhaps. Do anybody here have the same problem?
Cheers!
