I have a stock rooted Galaxy s5. For a while now the fingerprint scanner would stop reading fingerprints (nothing would be detected when swiped, no "no match" or "swipe faster" type errors, just no reading at all). This was always fixed by simply rebooting the device. That was until now. After encountering that error again I rebooted the phone. Now it appears to scan the fingerprint but won't match. I've tried all three of the fingers I have registered with the same results. I also can't access the fingerprint manager. When I try to access the fingerprint manager it won't match the fingerprints and says I have the wrong alternative password (which obviously I don't since I was able to bypass the lock screen with it). It does accept the alternate password when I tried to change the password but when I press the last "OK" to change the password it says " an error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device". I have restarted more than once.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? is this a defective sensor? I have unlimited data and had to use a loophole to upgrade to this phone so getting support form verizon might be a bit difficult.
finger print scanner tab s
Hello. You bet i have! Just tonight. I have a rooted samsung tab s, I was receiving the exact error messages that you speak of. Swipe slower, blah blah. Now, my tablet will not offer fingerprint scanner- it just disappeared entirely! And my alternative password says it is incorrect when I know it isnt. It doesnt give me an option to retrieve my password either! So, no fingerprint scanner, and incorrect alt password- im hooped! I cannot get into my 600$ tablet that I am currently using for online courses!
Please, if anyone can help me get into my tablet, I will forever be grateful!
I just installed lollipop, not sure if that would have anything to do with it? Another recent install was inbox gmail.
Please what can I do?
Disappointed
Stuck on my s3 for all of my homework too!
Irritated
I have same problem since 1 week.

You need to flash the aroma add-on package. From there, try to select/install an add-on that states "finger print(or something close to the term)". That's what i've done.

he said nothing about a custom rom. He is using stock rooted, so flashing an aroma add-on package will not help.

To start off my phone is completely stock and i was on 2.3.4 before the update. Once i updated over the air, it completed and all seemed fine.
Once restarted, i tried to open my camera or camcorder and it said "Unable to initialize camera" every time i tried. So i restarted again and it worked this time.
Then sometime when using my phone, it says "Motorola Home Service....Has stopped working, must force close" then after that, my camera craps out again and the phone must be restarted.
Has anyone else had this issue? Ive always been stock, never unlocked or loaded any other firmware other than OTA updates.
PS. im on ATT
The only issue I'm having from stock 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 is Root access both Unlockroot and PetesMoto 1 clicks are failing to root

Also just found out that if you click on the home button that takes you to the " menu" or "apps" screen, then click the search button, it will freeze the "moto home service" and must do a force close. Happens every time.

Hoping someone can help. After stopping the Google Framework service and clearing data, my 7 will find and download the 4.2 update. When installing the update, at about 25% complete, the Android logo with the red triangle shows up and I have to do a reset to get it to reboot. The update is never found without stopping the framework service. This is a completely stock 7 if it helps.
If this has been answered before I apologize. I did search and didn't see the same issue out there.
Thanks.

You said you are completely stock, meaning you have never unlocked, rooted, installed a custom recovery, frozen apps, etc., correct? Unless you got a bad download it should install just fine. Did you get any sort of error message? That can help determine what failed. Be careful with stopping and clearing the framework settings. You will have to delete your Google account and sign back in to be able to use the Play Store again.

Take a look at the 'Nexus 7 Update Problem' thread in this forum. You may just have to install a factory image for 4.1.2 or 4.2.

The only thing I have done is put in my gmailaccount. Thats it. No error messages just the triangle.
I have deleted my google account and made several resets but with the same outcome.
I had a similar issue, before the update it does a comparison of certain system files and system apk's and if it fails it gives you the red exclamation mark.I ended up talking apart a 4.1.2 factory image and replacing various apk's but i had to install twrp in order to find out which ones were bad.
I wouldnt be to keen to update at this point, other than the multiuser function there really isnt anything of benefit in 4.2.
Same here.
I just got my Nexus 7 back from Asus (again...). Factory reset with 4.1.2. Signed in with my Google account, got the update notification, tried to update after it downloaded, N7 rebooted, started process, Android dead with red triangle. Completely reset to factory specs again, signed in with Google account, stopped all downloads and updates, tried update again, same thing.
I'm going to try one more time by not signing in after another factory reset (if I can...never tried it) and see if that does the trick, but I'm not hopeful.
EDIT: It didn't work. Only other thing I can think of is that I'm plugged into a PC (trickle-charge) and because you have to be plugged in to apply the update, MAYBE it's failing during the install due to lack of full power coming through the charge cable. No other reasons I can think of at this point. Anyone else trying to update while on trickle charge? If so, anyone try on full A/C power?
Are you in the US?
Wondering if it's because I am in a foreing country.

I got notification out of the blue that the update was available. It failed again. I did a factory data reset hoping that would help. Tried the update again after installing NO apps. Failed again.
Any other suggestions?
I'm having the same issue. I wanted to keep my N7 stock and unrooted, but I may just have to root it and flash the update manually via recovery. It's kinda of a bummer.

I tried with a VPN and didn't work.
I'm still receiving the OTA update and every single time it fails.
Then I tried the recovery mode and didn't work.

Yes. I had the same issue (similar story to SWBailey), and the only way I could get the update was by flashing Google factory stock 4.2.1.
I have the same problem in Spain, I bougth the tablet (32G) last week. The attach image show you more information about the problem.
same issue, fastboot or root!
i have the same issue... a couple off guys recomended fastboot(doesnt need root as far as i get it)i... i think it might be do to having a 32gb but no 3g version, which i think is only available in countries other than usa... im from serbia for instance im probably gonna end up rooting it and flashing a custom rom
I called to the Asus support, and they sent me an email with the following instructions, I can´t finished all the steps because in the step number 5, the tablet never restarts, Something is wrong. I am going to send the tablet to the seller.

2. Press the power button volume button (-) and the volume button (+)
at the same time;
3. Press the volume button (-) twice to initiate the procedure "
Recovery "
4 Press power button to select.
5: After you restart the recovery mode hold the button
on and the volume button (+)
6. Use the volume keys to select the option to wipe data / factory reset "and press
the power button to select that option.
7 Scroll down to the Yes option. to clear the data and press the
on to select that option.
Same here...completely stock too! Tried 3 times... :/
If it doesn't work the fourth time, I will try to return it for a new one. Still in my 14 days..
Hello guys,
In advance, thank you for your time and help. Here's the deal. I am fairly new to the rooting business. I did a root using Towel Root. I had everything correct on my phone( regarding Super SU). I started messing around with Wan am Exposed and some other rooted apps. Long story short I did something do take auto rotate off of my phone completely unless it was forced through(as it is in the Netflix app.) I started to back everything up with the intent to just completely reset everything and start fresh. Well when I did that, I now get the Unfortunately, Samsung Hub has stopped working. It literally pops up again once I hit OK. It is making my phone completely unusable. I believe I may need to re-flash my binaries but I am not 100% sure. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!! :crying:

I have the same problem and it is extremely frustrating because the popup never goes away, it keeps popping back up making the phone useless. I managed to get it to quit by rebooting several times but eventually it comes back. I have rooted the phone with Towelroot but I don't think that is the problem. I have not changed any of the factory apps but I did install and then uninstall a couple of apps that I didn't want. I've read about this problem on other forums so I know others are also experiencing this problem. Hopefully someone with come up with a solution soon.

I think I found an easier way using Titanium Backup. I found Samsung Hub in the list, clicked on it and then hit the highlighted Restore button. It is probably too early to tell if that fixed the problem. If it comes back I will post here.
---------- Post added at 06:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:31 PM ----------
Since I started having the Samsung Hub problem, my screen does not rotate. I've looked at everything I can think of to change that back to auto rotate. No luck and I'm assuming it is related to the Samsung Hub problem. Restoring Samsung Hub with Titanium Backup did not fix the problem. So either the auto rotate problem is not related or restore did not work. Anybody know how to get my phone to Auto-Rotate again?

Ok the problem is back.
I tried to uninstall SoftCard and the instant it started uninstalling that app, the "Unfortunately Samsung..etc." came back with continuous loops. I rebooted and now Softcard in downloading from play store??? And the Samsung loops are continuing. I am going to take the battery out and see if that will stop the looping. That worked in the past. This is getting frustrating
I know im kind of late but I figured it out. I updated my Samsung Hub app and it fixed that issue. Unfortantly my phone stopped reconizing my gmail aka i could not use my play store. It kept saying that I needed to check with AT&T to add data to my account, although I know for a fact I have data( I am on the unlomited data plan). Even connected to wi-fi I recived this error. To fix that issue I re-flashed my stock binaries. VHOLA!! All of my headachs were gone.

Just for future reference and my 2¢, I personally think restoring apps is bad practice. For the exact reason you had to reflash. Especially ones that you can just download again, then change a few settings.
Thanks for the info. I've restored the Samsung Hub app a couple of times now and I don't seem to be having anymore problems. If it happens again I will update the app from Play Store
Have a Moto X Pure (XT1575). Was running L the I did OTA to MM. Everything working great. Unlocked bootloader - Good. Installed TWRP - Good. Installed TruPureXMM and ran it without issue for full day signed into my google account. Factory reset and can no longer activate the device. Says to sign in with owner account which is my account. How do I fix this?
That's weird after I unlocked my bootloader it never asked me that again. But just Put Your Gmail account that you previously used
I've tried my account. Always comes back with same error. Even when I choose the "what's my account" link or whatever it says it shows my phone number and my account but does not get past that screen. Have tried factory resetting it multiple times. Nothing!

When I logged in I had to go to this link to unlock my google account for phone activation.

Also make sure you are on WiFi
ive had this problem... only way i can seem to fix it to to do a factory reset inside the phone while running (not in TWRP). hopefully you have a backup. this deletes the google account.
I figured the issue was on Google's end so I ended up just flashing the CM13 alpha build available for our XT1575 w/o GAPPS and was able to get everything working even after flashing a gapp package. Going to try going back to stock again tonight and hopefully Google lets me back on otherwise CM13 it stays. (Which is running pretty great for me!)
I got locked out of my device last night. I was able to use the restore to stock tool, then flash SlimLP and gapps and sign into my google account. From what I've read the lockout should only last 72 hours. Can anyone confirm?

Looks like I'm waiting 72 hours.
If you are unlocked and have a rom with USB debugging turned on, you can get out of the mess. See my post at the TruPureXMM thread.

I noticed I started having this issue since rooting, then upgrading to the latest OTA update, and trying to install Pixelize. I can not access just about anything, but a prompt to sign-in comes up. I do so. I enter the right password. Then second factor authentication comes up. I've tried several options. Google authenticator app... which I don't understand how to use. So I did the text message. I got the text, and I was re-directed to sign into my Google account again, with my password, then two factor authentication again. This is a loop process. I've tried restarting and wiping cache. Is there anything else I can try?

You might want to install a rom that has Pixel features like Cortex rather than modding stock. You can also sign into your Google account on a computer and turn off two step verification, which might help.

The other thing you could try is removing your hosts file then rebooting . In Root Explorer the file is located under root tab in etc folder.
