There is a TWRP that works for this device. You have to use odin to use it, but go to google play, look up twrp manager download the app, follow the install twrp instructions and then download the odin file and the img file. set the img file to your device through the app, download the odin file via pc and use odin form there. boot into odin mode on the tablet. Use the power key, top volume key, and center home key all at once. connect to your pc and away you go. NOTE* you do need the samsung usb drivers. plugging the device in during odin mode, will try to install drivers but you need to manually do it or it wont work.

Odin Not Picking Up Phone SM-G900F

I have the drivers installed. I am in download mode. I have the phone connected. Odin shows blue box and com 3. This does not let you flash a recovery. Can someone dumb down the ridiculous instructions on how to get Odin to let me flash a recovery? How come my phone is not hackable? Do not mock me or say do the research. Nothing has helped. All I am asking for is help. Nothing more.
If Odin is picking up the phone it should work. Maybe add a screenshot of the error you are getting along with what version of Odin you are using as well as the file details you are trying to flash

Which recovery are you wanting to install, if you downloaded a zip files you need to extract the .tar or .md5 file inside it
You have the Odin steps correct once connected and you have com 3 showing click the PDA button find the .tar or .md5 recovery file then click start a few moments later you phone will reboot and you have custom recovery.

Member,
Your Odin exe contained Malware. Odin does not "install", normally you click the exe and it opens. It does not install on the PC. Your file installs, and adds malware to the PC.
Thread closed. If you get a clean odin file and want to reopen, please message me.

G900H. Lollipop. I used Odin with this file - CF-Auto-Root-k3g-k3gxx-smg900h.tar (the process I used for rooting). It has come out of boot sleep. When I'm trying to go into recovery mode, it gets stuck at Logo. My phone is working right now but doesn't go into recovery mode. Can you help me solve this? I want to try Marshmallow. Thanks!
make sure the MD5 hash matches, if you don't know how to hash MD5 look it up, if it fails just redownload the recovery tar because your download was corrupted

and don't use download managers

Try to flash TWRP recovery
Use ODIN to flash recovery, not some flash tool from G Play, it might have flashed the wrong version recovery
With ODIN, you do it manually, so if you flash the wrong version, it's because you didn't check it first, not because you let some random app do it for you

Loads of guides kicking about here in the S5 forum
Basically grab TWRP 2.8.7.0 .TAR for your model S5, load it into the AP or PDA section of ODIN, put your phone in download mode (Vol down & Home & Power from a powered off state), connect phone to PC USB, make sure drivers are installed, then hit start on ODIN
It should start the flashing process, and say success once done

I tried using Odin and nothing happened. Tried using TWRP Manager. Getting this error - "Either you already have this recovery installed or another error has occured. Would you like to attempt rebooting to recovery now?"

What do you mean, nothing happened with ODIN?
Did you add the TWRP .TAR (Do not extract)?
Phone was in download mode?
Drivers were installed?
Could ODIN see the phone? Did it show the COM port at the top?

OK, a common problem
Uncheck the "Auto reboot" setting in ODIN
When it's finished flashing, unplug the phone and pull the battery out of the phone, replace it, and boot straight into recovery with vol up, Home and Power

Hmm.. nowadays some of the Marshmallow version are coming with locked bootloader.. may be because of that u are getting error.
In such case you need to flash each and every version of marshmallow Firmware and check whether it supports flashing twrp or not from the below link. If you are able to flash twrp or certain frimware, that means its bootloader is not locked.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-J500FN/
or simply try this firmware from below link:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/113125/J500FNXXU1BPK3_J500FNOXA1BPK3_PHE/
Dont forget to make ''on'' oem unlock and usb debugging from developer option.
This is perfect root tutorial in few minutes and everyone says it works
Ok so I think it's because it's a bug I put lollipop on and now it's all done their must be something wrong unless I have to flash marhmellow first ☺

Can't make Odin work on my T560, please help!

Could any of you guys please help? I'm following instructions about making my T560 work with a higehr version of Android (currently 4.4) and I've done lots of research and they all follow the same steps that are shown on a youtube video (can't post the link):
Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.6 Install Android 7.1.2 Nougat & Root it After
So, I've been following the exact video instructions, but at the Odin > AP step isn't working.
The steps are basically: put the tablet on Downloading mode, open Odin (I have tried 3 recent versions) on Administrator mode, uncheck "Options > Auto Reboot" and then check "AP" and place a .tar file that I got that is adequate to my tablet's model. The .tar file I got is called "twrp_3.0.2-1_sm-t560.tar".
I place the .tar file, run "start", then Odin is able to connect and during "Initialization..." it just flashes "FAIL!" and Odin closes itself.
Sometimes, it doesn't have a Fail message but it says it is done and nothing has happened.
The device is properly connected on USB and recognized as blue on Odin, and I have Samsung USB drivers. Also tried running Odin as admin, and downloading a newer version, same issues. It just doesn't run.
I did a lot of research and the best tip I could find was to put it into the setp before download mode, plug it it, set everything up in Odin, then quickly press volume up on the tablet to enter Downloading mode, then run Odin.
It doesn't work either, but it SOMETIMES returns me a different error (DeviceInfo)...
(I have screenshots of the error screens but I can't post them as I'm new, sorry)
Sound like you look up some instructions on how to use ODIN. The .TAR file you downloaded has to be unzipped to produce 4 files to be inserted into Odin slots.
