Can Helium backup/restore trigger Knox? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had anybody used this? Is it Knox safe?
Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

Once KNOX is triggered, it can not be reset anymore by yourself (only Samsung can)

Yes, I know it is a hardware fuse. If not asking if it can reset Knox, I'm asking if it can trigger Knox.

Used Helium from the first day on Note4, it has no chance to trigger Knox, it just uses the camera transfer system. BTW, it's one of the coolest apps i have used.

„Camera transfer system”? Whats that?
How app data can be transfered without root?

Just give it a try, it's free )

Thanks @kosmocos As you need to use adb to get a pseudo root I was worried that might trigger Knox.

Re - enable Knox?

Hi so I rooted my phone and super user asked me to disable Knox so I did. But I use Knox frequently and now I can't get access it just says device not authorised. Is there away to enable it without a full reset?

Bad news bro. You have voided the warrantly.
Check knox flag is now 0x1

Warranty doesn't matter, second hand. I actually use knox lol but I've disabled it somehow

By rooting your phone and assuming you ended up with Knox 0x1, you can no longer use Knox.
You can use KNOX, it just isn't classed as *secure* -- Superuser has disabled KNOX on you, you'll have to find KNOX stuff in either TiB or in Application manager and re-enable it again. If that doesn't fix, then you'll have to unroot (if you choose to re-root don't agree to freezing KNOX when prompted)

If knox counter is triped....it will not work anymore. ..no way to reverse besides a change of main board

Oh so once knox is tripped you can no longer use it? I thought it was just a warranty thing

Well this is a bit of a bummer. There has to be some way to turn it back. I didn't know it couldn't be reenabled. Oh well. I don't need the warranty.

root - mobileiron

Hey guys! So i just switched from a sprint note 3 to a verizon note 3. I NEED root but my company uses mobile iron. Is there a way to use it and keep root?
Also whats the best way to root this? All I want is root no custom recover.
haha good bc cystom recovery isn't possible atm on retail verizon note 3. seems like vroot is the only way to go right now without tripping knox but do ur research.

believe it or not I like the stock rom (this is the first phone I have ever been able to say that with)
So vroot... hmmm I shall look into it. But I still need to know about the mobile iron.
well I should have been more specific we can flash roms and some mods with safestrap (a sorta of custom bootloader workaroundl). but we do not have the ability to flash custom kernels.

Try Rootcloak to hide root from the app. Works for another MDM software similar to that.
Edit:
Use the one from xposed framework. In not sure if the one from the play store works.
Can you link me to it?

Ok so kingo did not work.. Vroot. Did the trick. I did a factory reset after that and now I'm rooted. I loaded the new framework and root cloak. I will let you all know of it works.

[Q] Re-enable Knox after it has been tripped?

I have rooted the SM-G900W8, knox was tripped and has a 0x1 count. I am not worried about warranty and such. So is there any way I can re-enable or reinstall knox although it has already been tripped? Specifically to keep the root and be able to used apps like privacy mode that needs knox to be enabled.
Nope. That's final since the chip is done.

Just to confirm with the chip done, unrooting and going back to stock wont enable knox? Im not concerned about reseting the counter.

Hi all.
I've had my S5 for a few weeks now and I want to root it, is it possible to do so without losing all my stuff that is already on it?

Root is patching you current firmware without altering your current phone state.
if rooting goes well you won't lose anything.
If you fear, use Helium backup for apps and app data,
and also manually backup your internal storage to your computer in case anything goes wrong.

Awesome thanks for the help guys.

Knox at initial setup?

Just got the sm-g935f and started into the setup steps. It asks i think if i want to install knox? I did not think this was optional. What do you guys think should i go ahead and install or skip it?

There's Knox as in the e-fuse and Knox as in the secure container which allows you to keep work and play separate on your phone.
The installation refers to the latter. They are related because if you root and trip the Knox e-fuse, you can't ever use the Knox secure container (amongst other things).

Dave

I'm not sure on your screen shot sorry. This is a pic of that app's info. The app is small, free, and has decent reviews.
