Hi all, hoping someone can help with this issue;
After rooting and loading CrashRom I had an issue with the pin lock screen not working, followed CR advice and attempted to flash the matching modem as this was the fix. Here's the problem - each time I flash the modem, either via mobileOdin or Odin on PC (tried 1.85, 3.07 & 3.09) recovery states the area it is trying to flash is locked and flash aborted.
Tried to remedy this by changing roms to Omega, didn't work, still have the same modem and same issues trying to flash the matching one (or any other one at that!)
Anyone know why or how to fix this ?!
When you try to flash the modem via odin, you say recovery states it is locked or something, how does it go from download mode to recovery? I have never heard of this before.

Sorry my mistake. Odin flashes and says OK, reboots, does the norm but when you go into settings to check nothing has changed.
Only when using MobileOdin or ZipInstaller - which then goes into recovery to flash - it gives that error

It is normal for mobile odin to say that when flashing the modem, it only works with odin.
Power off the phone. Even pull the battery for 15+ seconds, do the button combo for download mode. Volume down, power and home at the same time, press volume up or whatever it is to get into it. Then use odin v3.09 and flash the modem in the cp section
Modems never seem to update if you don't follow these steps, happened many times to me before. See if this fixes your problem

Run through all of this, a few times, with all variants of Odin. Tried different ways of getting to D/L mode as well too see if that would work (button combo, 300k, 4 way reboot option!).
I'll attempt it again, using your modem as well as pulling one from an original firmware source and post results later tonight.

The 4 way reboot option will not work. Modems seem to only flash when the phone is off and is booted to download mode via the button combo, give it a try as this has happened to me many times before when i have gone into download mode from android without powering off the device.
Edit-
You have the N9005? The link i provided is for this device.

Good choice! Mine came with the BTU CSC. Got work in an hour, let me know if that method/modem works for you.
With the Note you have to flash the modem a few times for it to take.. It's a strange anomaly in Note devices. I've seen threads where people have flashed them 5/6 times before they've even taken properly.

I have just upgraded to FROYO through KIES after 3 HOURS of waiting.
But my is stuck at boot screen & vibrates..
i had tried the recovery but no use.
please help me...
Take the battery out, try recovery mode again.
Or you didnt uninstall your lagfix before updating.. If so, do a factory reset in the recovery console.
i did that by VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER.
it went into recovery mode i did every thing NO USE.
did wipe all data, factory, format sd card. Still no use.
i heard about hard reset VOLUME DOWN + (press & release) POWER
then clear storage.
BUT HARD RESET is not working for me..

If you are able to enter to download mode then try reflashing via odin it should work.

how much time would it take through ODIN for flashing???
I got the same issue here. And my SGS can not boot into download mode by hold 3 buttons.
Anyone knows what's the option for me now?
Thanks
Hi
I had the same issue it vibrated and didn't boot up. Remove SD Card, go to recovery via VOL UP + HOME + POWER button when you see boot screen releae all buttons. You are in recovery mode. Vol up down and select wipe data/ factory reset, confirm and your device shall boot.
My SGS booted after this and Yes I had OCLF lagfix installed, device rooted which I didn't remove prior to update. Now its fine again.
Now i tried to flash it through ODIN.
It was taking a long time so i stopped
it is displaying this

From this screen you sholud be able to enter in downloadmode. And, but I'm not sure, from this screen Kies should be able to recover the phone too...
Any way:
Always is a solution.... Search here, on forum, about JIG method to unbrick Galaxy S. You have to made a 301kohms rezistor and connect it on 2 pins from a usb cable. You'll see more pictures, it's easy to made it...
This JIG rezistor will always put the phone in download mode. From here you can reflash with Odin any rom you want.
But, if Odin stopped, there are 2 possibilities: you don't have the phones drivers installed corectly, or (and most important) you don't close Kies from Task Manager before launch Odin. If Kies is runing will take the comm port busy and Odin can't use it to comunicate with the phone.
Always close all Kies applications before flashing with Odin. It's very important.
Good luck.

I did not find that recovery.....
does that have to work if KIES pops some recovery of os????
please tell me a way to flash back to
original DDJG4 india firmware...
and is it possible to upgrade to FROYO using KIES after flashing???
have you tried adb search youtube for a tutorial. you can reboot/recovery or download and much much more.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN DEBUGGING MODE WITH ADB. and i take out the sim card and ext sd card.
you use commands like c:\androidsdk\tools\adb reboot download
c:\androidsdk\tools\adb reboot recovery
c:\androidsdk\tools\adb reboot
also try apk 3.0 this lets you install apk's via your pc right to your phone, search for z4root apk on this site and use adb to reboot into recovery to apply update.zip
hope this helps, i also have no 3 button combo

Not sure why you would purposly stop Odin while it was running. All you are doing is creating a worse and worse situation for yourself by doing things like that.
It seems to me that you do not know enough about flashing, etc to even be concidering doing so, so... I reccomend that after you finally get your device up and running again that you ONLY flash through Kies and dont do anything else as you will likely end up with one issue after the other...

personally it amazes me when i read some of the horror stories on this site, i find it very couragous that anyone would attempt this without proper research, .
some of the complex hacks i am seeing just aren't needed, yet people risk bricking their phones. Anyway good luck to all who venture in to flashing, you dont learn if you dont try and without mistakes we would not learn as much so thankyou i know no what not to do hi.
I got into the download mode finally by the hairdryer method and load the original optus jg4 rom into the phone, then upgrade to froyo again.

Hey guys this may amuse some of you but hoping someone can help me out. I bought my SGS i9000 this morning about 4 hours ago and it was running Eclair. I tried flashign with Kies but wasn';t having much luck. Needed to try and get into download mode for Odin so decided to flash a key combo fix to get into Download mode because it wasn't working. Next thing I know Odin crashes and my phone boots to this screen

Do you have samsung usb drivers installed on your pc ?
Yes I installed them before trying to flash. The PC is not even making any sounds while connected
Try a different USB port.
That sometimes resolves the PC not finding the phone.
I was under the impression that the I9000 was practically unbrickable.. Hm, there you go I guess.

My reputation on other forums will suggest otherwise
Sorry for you guy.
I semi bricked my sgs so many times and flashed it with odin. But never seen your screen.
I read somewhere that with only usb plug modified you can go to download mode. But i don't remember how
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have just ordered a USB jig for the phone. Hope it will help my situation
Hope it'll work ^^
Firstly this is not a bricked phone - I've been there - a brick is dead, dodo - yours is semi-bricked (its recoverable without returning to Samsung)
remove battery and replace battery
plug in USB
hold vol-, home, power buttons - it might force download mode from where you can flash a new rom
this thread holds all you need to know
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14957283&postcount=1
finally, a jig will work - I've had one since samsung f*cked the bootloaders up in their stock 2.2 eclair. Its the last resort but WILL work
best of luck, let me know if you have any luck with this advice
Thanks for the reply. I am glad to know that someone has been through this before and has fixed it with a Jig. Only down side is I have to go back to my Hero while waiting for my jig.
have you tried the link I gave you? have you tried option (a) to the letter? Where are you in S wales? I'm in Cardiff and I've got one
Good i found this thread, i've reflashed my phone like 50 times and done a lot of testing. Well first time i got that picture too but it was because my windows had gone wonky and odin did not find phone and i just removed battery and put it in again and the pic was there automaticly. The three button combo for download mode worked like a charm, was going to test it first but tought i better go and read before doing anything hasty

I've done most of those things. I've been at it for a while now. Only had the phone today too. I'm in Bridgend
ok....first follow that thread option (a) to the letter and it should work - if you got it from Carphone warehouse take it back - the one in Queen Street Cardiff fixed mine same day when I semi bricked mine in work and wasn't going home to sort out. as a bonus they flashed the latest FW - just play dumb - maybe try saying KIES offered you an upgrade which failed.
Finally when you get it sorted delete ALL drivers from your PC - your KIES problems are due to incompatibility of drivers following running Odin. Make sure that KIES is detecting your phone ok before letting Odin install its own drivers

Same problem here!
I find myself in a quite similar situation. After a while with a ROM that didn't perform as desired (overheating and randomly turning off) I decided to try to flash the latest stock that worked fine and then maybe try CM or something else... Problem is that now I can't even enter in Recovery mode. The only thing that works is Download mode, otherwise I'm stuck in a bootloop. I've tried everything, even restoring from KIES (which seem to work fine... until the phone gets into the same bootloop).
Please guys I need to fix this! My phone is fairly new and I don't wanna have brick that expensive... And I don't know what else to do!
PS: Download mode says that the binary is Samsung Official, but the status is custom and the KNOX counter is 0x1 (4)...
Kill the Kies processes on your computer before flashing with Odin. If it doesn't work try another USB port and use the original cable.
You should be able to find a tar or md5 version of the recovery that you can flash with Odin.
PS. 0x1 means that a custom recovery or root is or was once installed. This will always remain like this. It can not be reset.
same problen i was trying to flash recovery from flashify app but i flashed it like a boot image now im stucked into samsung logo and i cant enter to the recovery becuase the phone has no recovery mode and no downloading mode i think im ****ed up and the bigest problem is that phone when i plug it in the computer shows me that has no driver so odin cant read my dvice to flash something on it please if you know samthing tell me show me pls

I created an account here because I need all your help and I've been crawling all over the internet, but I cannot find anything for my problem.
Whenever I charge my phone, I turn it off, shut it off to be exact so that it charges faster. One morning, I woke up and I booted it up, but it won't get past the Samsung logo. It will stay like that for a while, then it will vibrate and will appear at the same screen again. Also, whenever I put the battery on, a green LED will stay on even though the phone is still not on. I cannot access recovery mode, only download mode. My phone is rooted. It has been once submerged in water but no problems. No custom ROMS, but there is a custom recovery that is INACCESSIBLE. I badly need all your help since it makes me feel bad having a $600 paperweight. I have tried leaving the battery out for weeks and almost a month now. Ask me anything and I will try to answer with what I know.
Thank you and I hope for the best. (Cause it made me really sad. :crying,

Sorry disturbing your wonderful support effort but I would like to provide @hyperfused07 with some links that I consider useful:
To speed up your SamMobile experience, before finding your devices section (that you didn't provide) I suggest using the below tool to perform the download:
[TOOL] SamFirm - Samsung firmware downloader & checker
Just provide Model+Region and it will find you the newer available. Please, before download, check the boxes: CRC32 & Decrypt
Lastest Odin v3.11.1
To use Odin you will have to enter "Download Mode" by pressing: Home + Volume Down + Power buttons
Nice regards.

Actually my support effort was perfectly adequate, if OP had read and followed the instructions I provided in my first post
I don't enjoy having to post the same thing twice, especially if OP won't even read it once, hence my shortened 2nd post

Hello everyone,
I might have messed up big time so I need your expertise on installing Lineage OS.
So I was following this guide for installing Lineage OS 19. However, I stuck here:
Manually reboot into recovery, this may require pulling the device’s battery out and putting it back in, or if you have a non-removable battery, press the Volume Down + Power buttons for 8~10 seconds until the screen turns black & release the buttons immediately when it does, then boot to recovery:
Reboot and immediately hold Volume Up + Power while the device is connected to a PC via USB cable.

Click to collapse
I did everything correctly till here but when I try to boot into flash, I can't. I go into download mode, flash lineage recovery using heimdall, then re-start to boot into recovery but it does not, keeps looping through the images below. Now I can't turn off the device, I am just stuck at download mode. It behaves like there is no OS or recovery mode. Like storage chip is empty to the last bit. I might have wiped data before installing lineage recovery. Please help. Thank you.

First off: which Tab S6 Lite is this? 2022 version (Qualcomm) or Pre-2022 (Exynos)?
Secondly: Perhaps try flashing with Odin and following the LineageOS guide for your respective device (Qualcomm/Exynos) rather than relying on the instructions from the LineageOS page.

İt is the old one with exynos.
I tried odin but odin does not seem like recognizing the device in download mode. I tried to flash recovery but it said “0/0” so basically it did nothing.
Edit: it seems like there is no dedicated exynos instructions for old ones.

Instructions for Tab S6 Lite Exynos: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...for-galaxy-tab-s6-lite.4487553/#post-87376527
Thank you.
But this does not really help because I’m stuck in the loop and can’t boot into recovery. Therefore can’t do anything unless I get into recovery.
I need a way out of this loop.
Okay I figured it out.
Seems like tablet was soft-bricked due to messing up with bootloader.
I managed to get odin recognize the tablet by using directly motherboard usb ports and downloaded latest firmware from Sammobile. Then using odin, I re-flashed stock ROM and it came back alive.

I am not able to do a step by step guie due to time but tablet had unlocked bootloader and somehow It got stuck on the boot loop.
So I downloaded lates system image from Sammobile, put the tablet in download mode, opened oden, connected tablet to PC via motherboard usb ports, odin recognized the tablet, then unzipped system image from sammobile and selected relevant (AP, BL etc.) files from odin. Then I flashed it using odin and tablet was now restored.

USB ports behind the case. When you use the case USB ports on front or top it probably wont work for Odin
