Figured I would start a thread so we can share any issues we might have with the Turbo. Any defects or software issues etc etc... If your having a problem - post it!
Thanks guys!
Right off the bat I've noticed that my wifi reception is weaker than with my G2...
Yeah the WiFi reception on the Kevlar version is quite poor. Need to use it longer to see if this is a deal breaker.
I, too, have the kevlar version.

One of the most brilliant apps ever made is Moto Assist, particularly the "Driving" portion. You can talk or text back and forth without your phone ever leaving your pocket... all by voice. Very safe, both eyes on the road, both hands on the steering wheel.
I was in the Verizon store today looking at the Turbo and couldn't find Moto Assist preloaded on the phone. And furthermore, when I went to the Google Playstore to download it it wasn't available. Can anyone here confirm that Moto Assist IS NOT available on the Turbo?

I get my Turbo tomorrow but I played with it in the store today and noticed the 32GB ballistic was extremely touchy. I could barely scroll without launching an app or setting. They also had the red and black kevlars. Those 2 didn't have the same issue. I don't know if it was just me or what.
Anybody having extremely oversensitive screens issues?
Just got my Droid Turbo Ballistic Nylon today
I have not had any problems with scrolling sensitivity. Its been working great as far as that goes. I have used about 20% battery in 7 hours since it.
Only issue I have had with it is once when making a call it showed 1x when it should have been 4g in the city I was in and the person on the other end did not sound as loud and clear.
It did switch to 4g after I hung up. I cant wait till Lollipop comes out and hopefully will fix KitKat issues.
So far I really like the phone.
My ballistics screen seems to work better than my previous s5.no over sensitivity here.
My one issue is it seems like the display is always flashing the time. While I like that feature, seems like a battery killer always having the time flashed.
Having lagging issues with the front camera. Worked fine when I got it, now a few hours later it lags like hell.
Edit: Works fine now, hopefully it doesn't screw up again
Apparently no data and voice simultaneously. Didn't know but I'm OK. WiFi and voice fine. Love this phone.
Not a complaint but being mindful of large battery, i plugged in phone at 17% at 8:40. 10:27 and now at 96%. Im coming from LG G2 which is one of the quickest charging phones ive owned
Having previously owned a Droid Maxx thought slight heating would be an issue but it hasnt thus far which pleases me.
Great phone!

Comparing my Droid Maxx and Droid turbo, the Maxx is a huge winner in terms max brightness, min brightness, and ability to consistently illuminate the entire display. My maxx display color temp is warm; Turbo color temp is cool.
@ 100% brightness & a white jpg:
Turbo 420lumens-->517 lumens 23% variation darkest at the top to brightest at the bottom
Maxx 585lumens-->597 lumens 2% variation
*note: this was done with the identical Droid Maxx Red Pepper (ebay) tempered glass screen protector on each unit, so a small % of light was lost due to this but the % is consistent across all tests.
@0% brightness & a white jpg:
Turbo: 22-26 lumens
Maxx: 15-17 lumens
So it has the overly warm color temperature that some poor amoleds have? I can't stand the yellowish whites and was worried this phone would have that...
Very low volume on speaker and when making calls

It is warm but not overly. IMHO a Sammy phone is overly cool/blue.

That's something that I have a question about as well. I think it has to do with the Motion because if you wave your hand over the screen, it will turn on as it's supposed to. But it also flashes on when the phone moves a bit. I'm considering turning this option off.

Unfortunately, I have the same issue with the flashing. It happens continuously, all night long with the phone on the nightstand or sitting on a desk not in use. Seems like a bug.

Is it normal for the screen to be a bit yellow when the back-light is dim? While the back light is ~50% to 100% it's a nice clear white. When it's turned down though it has a yellow/green tint. I had an Epic before the fascinate, and it was always a clear white. Side-by-side the epic was also a bit brighter.
Picked up a Droid X yesterday, since it was the last day for the buy one get one free, and it's screen is even brighter than the fascinate. Which seems to contradict most of the reviews and comparisons I've read.
I'm wondering if this is normal, or if i should get it exchanged since it's only my 3rd day with the phone.
It's funny that you say something like that because I used to have the epic and the screen on my fascinate has colors off as well. whites look yellower and greys and blacks have a red hue so they look almost maroon. My brother's fascinate does not have these issues and looks exactly as my epic did.
edit: also, this is with any screen brightness not just minimum

Sounds like you need to exchange yours at least. I might take mine up to the store and compare them, just to be sure.
Does your screen turn a bit yellow when the backlight dims as well?

it is yellowish at 0%, yes, but darker greys are almost maroon as I said
it makes the lighter greys look green and the darker greys look maroon, so it's definitely something i'll be exchanging in the near future. I just need to have the time
My whites also have a yellow tint. Is this anything to worry about or will Voodoo ColorFix fix it?
I think my wife's phone has the same issue. After reading this thread I compared them and there is definitely a difference.
There doesn't seem to be a difference at the higher brightness settings though. (remove the space in the url to see my comparison)
This is at 0% brightness (my wife's is on the left)

We got our phones at the same time on release day. As well as using the same screen protector (phantom skinz for now - driving me nuts and ready to take it off)
I took mine up to the store today, and i'm going to exchange it for a new one tomarrow(store was closing). They said it was defective.

I would. The store should do an even exchange. After all, the screen is best part of the galaxy S phones.
My wife and I just got back from exchanging her phone, and out of two new phones they checked, they both had the same yellow hue... their display unit didn't, and neither did the associate's Fascinate who helped us. I wasn't going to make them open more phones up as this store has been really good to us.
The associate said he thinks that may just be the way they are manufacturing them. If that is the case, perhaps it is the software, and there is a setting buried somewhere that can be changed. I'm not sure, but I am curious to hear about everyones results on their exchanges.

Samsung did an awful job calibrating the display. Colors are extremely saturated(I'm a home theater buff and it looks like that awful dynamic/vivid setting.) I don't mind it though. I just wish this could display whites like my Droid. Maybe I should try returning it and see if I can get one with a working GPS and good screen?

I don't believe that it is just the way they are manufacturing them or else both mine, my epic's, and my brother's display would all be the same regarding colors. The colors should not be so significantly different between two units of the same model if they are manufacturing them properly. I will be returning mine and making sure they open them until the displays are properly colored... I am only returning one unit and I, like most consumers on xda, am not part of the majority they serve so I actually... well, notice the color difference.
Please don't put me in the "unwarranted exchange" club! My display really is off, and I haven't seen this in any of the other Galaxy S forums, just the Fascinate. I feel ripped off after having switched from Verizon to Sprint for the Epic, then being unsatisfied with my sprint bill/Epic switching back to Verizon and getting a junk display.

What's funny, and is actually kind of bugging me now is that my phone (without the yellowish tint) has noticeably dimmer capacitive buttons than my wifes new one. This might be due to it almost being a month old vs. one that is only a few hours. But if the LEDs are diminishing that quickly, what will they look like in another month, or even six months from now? I just don't think Samsung's quality control is what it should be.
As far as the screen, it isn't that big of a deal to me since the phone only has the yellow hue on the dimmest settings. If it were noticeable on brighter, or even mid settings then I'd be having a fit until we got one that looked good to us.
Your particular case sounds like it is way worse than what my wife and I have experienced. It sounds like a genuine defect, and you SHOULD get a replacement.
I just got back with my new one, no yellow tint at all.
The Vibrant has had similar issues with their displays. Ranges from a brown to a blue tint even. I've read a few about Epics having a yellow tint as well. So it's not unique to the fascinate.
I don't mind "vibrant" colors as long as the black is as black as possible. Even if it makes my ViewSonic look dull.
Now that I really look at it, whites are very blue tinted, while other colors are yellow tinted or over-saturated(which is on every one of these. The D1, D2, DX, and iPhone 4 are the only phones I've ever seen calibrated correctly out of the box.) Is this a defect? I am just happy these whites aren't like my friend Incredible's. His whites get black streaks down one line of pixels(it's hard to explain, but looks awful.) To return or not to return? If I return they better apply a new Invisible Shield for free.
Wow, you guys are really picky. I'm not about to say that my Fascinate's screen is perfect, but then again, no screen is. They ALL have flaws, one way or another. I for one have noticed that whites have a bluish tint, which strangely changes to a yellowish tint when I press on the screen. Does this make me want to complain and return the phone? Of course not. It really is not worth the hassle of going through that. Honestly though, I've never seen a screen that looks more awesome than this super AMOLED screen, despite the minor flaws. Guess there's just no pleasing some people. ;-)

The screen on my new one seems pretty perfect to me. No tints, and certainly doesn't change color when i touch it. Guess some people prefer to accept defects and substandard quality control.
Squeaky wheel gets the oil.
Went into the Verizon store today - the associate who I spoke with immediately recognized the problem, but I did pull out my brother's fascinate without color issues so we wouldn't have to go and check a floor model.
At first she said "Here, it's probably fixed" when she turned the backlight up, but when I showed her the difference between the two phones with the backlight dimmed to lowest. I mentioned the battery drain with it higher would not really be acceptable to me, she was more than glad to accept it as an exchange for a new Fascinate.
I also had my contract switched over to 1 year because I forgot to do that when I was in there and getting my old fascinate... sort of happens when you're sitting around for two hours. Picked up the extended battery too - not nearly as bad as people say unless you're shirt-pocketing it.
Took all of 45 minutes, I guess I was lucky - the longest part was the line.
Tints vary from handset to handset.
Hey just wanted to chime in.
I've compared Epic, Fascinate, Vibrant, and Captivate side by side. Here is what I found, almost no two screens have the same hue/tint/.
These are the following tints I've noticed.
Pink
Yellow (the best in my opinion)
Brown
blue/green
blue
blue/gray
When testing the phones, I set them side by side, and set the same brightness levels to test.
Why these tints vary so much, from individual to individual handset is a good question. I saw two Epic's in a sprint store side by side, one was blue tinted one was brown. Same exact settings. So strange.
Just bought my Moto X from motomaker, made an order on thursday and received it this morning - so fast (St Louis, MO)!
So my main concert is the screen brightness. Even my Galaxy Nexus was not the brightest phone that I ever had, but Moto X screen is even dimmier. It is probably the same screen that was used at Galaxy Note 2 except being smaller. That screen was dim as well. That causes the display to be reflective to lamps and sun which annoys me.
Second thing that I did not like so far, is, surprise, the phone's shape which everybody likes. For me the edges are too sharp, maybe I just have too big hand.
Camera is a little bit better than Galaxy Nexus camera, for me the quality of it is ok so far.
But active notifications rock.
Do you know if it will be possible to increase the brightness somehow?

I don't find the brightness to be an issue, even turned all the way down - any chance you can go to a retailer and check to see how the brightness compares on one of their floor models? It seems like that could be a defect, rather than working as intended.
I don't know the Max brightness is fine for me. I actually wish the brightness went Lower. That is really not that big of a problem. As for the camera I don't know what all the criticism is about. The low light could be better but I think the regular shots are very good

Eh, depending on the kernel drivers maybe increasing the brightness is possible. But I doubt it. I think its happened before on other devices, but usually LCD screens. This is amoled so I bet it won't happen.

2nd, i find it quite bright. In most cases i have it set pretty dim. I'd compare in store.
That's AMOLED for you. I had 2x GNEX and both had different brightness and colour. One had to be 55% to be equivalent to the other at 30%.
If you think it is too dim, you are probably right. Just exchange it.

My Gnex with Faux kernel can be set to a ridiculously bright setting through rgb and gamma. Then you have active display/screen mode on the other Galaxy devices so it's possible.

I find the camera to be inconsistent. Some photos look great and others look like they have a gray haze over them. I think it just has issues with white balance, really. Because of that, in outdoor sunlight photos look pretty good, but with LED lighting, or CFL lighting, they look washed out.
Hopefully the new update makes it more consistent.

According to the reviews I've read on Android Central by Phil and Jerry, it is stock Android with a couple of added features that are beneficial rather than gimmicky. The skin looks like vanilla Android, whereas TouchWiz, Sense, etc. use difference icons, different menus, OEM-specific apps (like Samsung's S Voice, for example), etc. The Moto X seems to be stock Android 4.2 with a transparent navigation bar, active notifications, and the Motorola app to connect the phone to the computer (so you can get incoming texts, etc. on your desktop).

I completely agree with the edges but I also agree it is because you have big hands. I was dropping the phone all the time because of its size. I got this case that fits nice is a little bit thicker and looks pretty nice. I actually only got the case because I wanted a little but more grip on the phone with these shaq like hands I have.

i have no idea, its not like ive been on non stop or anything either and ive had brightness at around 50%. this is really irritating considering its only been week though. also ill have to post pics tomorrow when i can get ahold of an actual camera my htc ones is poop and jst makes a fuzzy mess when trying to capture it. just watched the video, that is exactly what i have. wish I hadn't watched it though, since now that I looked at the status bar I notice it there too.
This is going to be a big problem for Motorola. Not seeing this yet on mine but with only a couple days left to return it I will be looking carefully. Thanks for the heads-up.
I finally had my mind made up to get this phone...I am definitely going to have to rethink that decision!
I have the same thing happening to mine. Very faintly on my device. I'm floored that its happening already. My game plan is to let it get really bad over the next year and before the warranty runs out force a replacement if it gets any worse.

same thing here. but could this problem be just merely defective unit(s) ?
I'm utterly disappointed with this news :crying:
Nothing here yet. Burn in was the one thing I disliked about my Nexus One...
Gonna use mine for 6 months and jump it for the G4 more than likely anyways.
This problem sucks for the people that buy it to use for a longer period.
G3
You mean its wrong to expect a high end device to not have any defect for more than 6 months? If that is the case for this phone, better to just avoid than.
No not at all. I mean it sucks period.. No device in this day and age should suffer from this. It won't bother me as much because I switch devices every so often. But for the people that don't, they pretty much paid high dollar for this..

People adore the Moto X right, and from that video she says it exhibits the same sort of burn in... not saying its a good thing , of course not, but it depends how far it progresses , she had her Moto X for quite a bit longer and the burn in wasn't noticeable unless you really looked for it .
will have to see i guess

She also did mention that the Moto X she only uses it for reviews and before that she barely used it. I had mine since monday (5 days) and while I'm not a heavy screen on user, I'm not seeing anything yet. This make me worried. I've had AMOLED phones before (Note 3, S3,S5) but I've never had any burn in. Is there a way to avoid it?

This make me worried. I've had AMOLED phones before (Note 3, S3,S5) but I've never had any burn in. Is there a way to avoid it?

Cheap amoled panels. Motorola probably bargain binned it. Samsung probably uses the highest quality ones in their devices and then sells based on the quality of the panel.
I've had my moto x style for about a week now (from moto maker), and I'm struggling to decide whether to start an RMA due to backlight bleed. I've seen quite a few reports of this across the internet with mixed responses.
It can be seen occasionally during normal use, but If I turn the backlight up full, load a black image in a dark environment then it looks like the attachment (or https://goo.gl/photos/8RcZ4JzyRELT3AXRA). Theres a patch top left, little top right, two small patches on the right side and a biggish one by the back button at the bottom.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm concerned a replacement will be the same/worse. If anyone can upload a photo for comparison taken with full brightness in the dark that may be helpful. You can use this free app to test: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.ujacha.deadpixel&hl=en

I have one small spot it does that in the bottom left. No where near the level yours does. Just got another mxpe for my wife and hers is flawless.
Return it.

Mine seems flawless too as can't see any at all. Reviews or some reviews said it could be an issue. I too would return it as that looks none so good.
I'm having the same dilemma. I have one small spot in the lower right hand corner but I'm worried another unit might be worse.
Is there any negative effects of having a phone with this? I totally understand and agree that because the phone shouldn't be like this you wouldn't want it like this but if there are no cons I think I'll probably just suck it up and keep this unit.

Usually no cons. My surface pro first gen was as bad as the op's and I kept it and it was fine.

So, after using Car Home Ultra while driving on a daily basis with the screen always on at full brightness.... I got the screen burn in really bad.
Check out my video if you want to see just how bad it is. The Google Assistant Icon burned in this orange-ish circle on my screen, and it was VERY noticeable on any light colored background.

Fortunately, I was able to get a replacement through Google. They don't even seem to be aware of the issue.
That sucks man and good to hear you were able to get a replacement. But it seems like it took quite a while at full brightness after x amount of days/weeks/months for it to occur? I'm just wondering what your timeframe was for the burn in to occur. Thanks! I have been gaming and there are static icons for skill/character frame etc and I go at about 45-50% and I haven't seen anything yet.

Seems your usage is a bit more extreme than the norm. But I do agree for the price that we paid we should have gotten newer panels for sure and not Samsung leftovers.
