Xiaomi Redmi Note-Stock Android - Redmi Note Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I do not like MIUI for a number of reasons.
Their forum leaves a lot to be desired.
It is not GPL complaint.
I flashed HMNOTE1W_AOSP_DEV_0627.zip and it is working reasonably well.
Had to restore both IMEI numbers using MtkDroidTools v2.5.3
Have restored all files from my Nexus 5 with Titanium Backup.
Main problem is can't do anything about the kernel.
This is why development is limited as zelendel explain to me.
Too bad, as it is a nice phone for the money.
I didn't buy it. It was a gift from a friend in Malaysia, who knows
I like playing with phones.
Nexus 5 is my daily phone.
I just see the Redmi Note as a challenge.

nice bro.. can u share ur rom?

I downloaded it from the MIUI site.
See Here
HMNOTE1W_AOSP_DEV_0627.zip
You will lose your IMEI's.
Took me a while to get everything working.
Make sure you know how to unbrick your phone, just in case.

Trying new ASOP rom.
VANILA_XAN
SEE HERE
This is the same site listed in the All in One Thread.
The forum is in Spanish.
There are quite a few roms listed in addition to the ones posted.
I am only interested in ASOP roms.
You have to join to download roms.
Install straight forward using CWM.
As usual had to restore my IMEI numbers.
Been running for only about two hours, but seems fine.
Make sure you backup Titanium Folder to your PC if you plan to use it.

Here is another ASOP rom from the Spanish forum.
Direct Link
AOSP Z3
Very slow download for me for some reason.
Features:
Tweaked for better performance and stability
Removed built-in apps that are not often used
Pre-rooted
Zip-aligned
init.d Support
Any internal modification
Xposed Works Framework
Powered by Gravity Box
Lenovo Calendar
Lewa Calculator
Lenovo Music
File Manager Lenovo
Dual Sim Ringer
Xtended Rings
Haven't tried it, yet.

Thanks for sharing

No problem. Trying to find useful information to post here.
The MIUI forum does not seem to be that good from a development
standpoint. I am certainly not a developer, so the best I can do
is post useful information.
Unfortunately, other than the MIUI forum, most forums are not in English.
I am able to get information from the Spanish Forum, as I know a little Spanish.
Google translate takes over when I don't understand something.

AOSP Z3 by Xancin
Installed AOSP Z3 by Xancin.
Xancin has Written many ROM's at the Spanish forum
movilesdualsim.com
SEE HERE
Had to restore IMEI numbers, which is necessary on every install I have done.
Very easy using MtkDroidTools v2.5.3.
Other than that, install was straight forward.
ROM running smooth for past couple of days.

Went back and reflashed VANILA_XAN ROM.
All ROM's are a matter of personal preference and
VANILA_XAN seems to suit me the best.
The other ASOP ROM's worked fine and will suit others.
Now trying the Dual Sim's. I have T-Mobile(USA) as default
and vodafone(NZ) as the second sim.
Since I will be spending Christmas in New Zealand thought
it a good idea to test it.

nice thread!. i am really hoping there would be a stable kk rom

[Q] [NOOB] Help building custom ROM for S5 G900H

Hey guys
I'm currently working on my first custom ROM mainly because there are currently no ROM for the dreaded G900H (aka Exynos) version. For this, I already downloaded a stock ROM and created my environment using Android Kitchen. So here are my questions:
1. I was able to follow and execute all the instructions to extract the custom ROM, install root and busybox. But first... is Android Kitchen even compatible with Galaxy S5?
2. Is it important to keep the CSC info on the new ROM? How can I backup current CSC info from my stock (carrier provided) S5?
3. How probable is to brick the phone if I flash a very alpha ROM as the one I'm supposedly cooking? I already have a nandroid and EFS backup
Thanks in advance for your answer and patience.

Funny, implying that this is an statistics game. It is not and it's ridiculous to blame developers for the lack of support.
Pretty much everyone that actually develops got the Snapdragon variant, if I had a choice I'd gotten that just by the amount of code and AOSP possibility.
Exynos was only supported by a couple of devs, it's all Samsung's fault - not devs. None of them currently has an S5.
Use xposed, greenify, titanium backup and there are few reasons you'll need a custom rom.
Xposed opened a new world of possibilities to modding.
Edit: Exactly that demanding attitude is what puts devs off. Other regions are usually more polite and grateful and that's something devs have noted in the past....

Sorry if I didnt make myself clear. English is not my first language. When I mentioned the millions of user was only to imply that more users, the more chance to have a genius among them. I didnt mean to have a demanding attitude. I was trying to say "Iknow you are out there, I know you are developing something for all of us. We are here waiting for your effort.
@CiDev:
You want to share your ROM for "H" here?
i dont think that will we have any custom rom for our model
but according with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52168627&postcount=168 @Shohat told me that he will release custom rom until end of may,,but nothing..
maybe he is busy

I wouldn't bet *anything* on it being released, it looks to me like an abandoned project...
The whole 'I can't work on this because I don't have money' turned me off instantly from that ROM.
On topic: I have been working on a custom kernel for our device, mainly trying to improve battery life. I'm still testing, if it's worth it, I can release it.
It's based on the contributions of others, so it wouldn't be fair for me to keep it private, I just don't want to release something that will break stuff.

3 - if you have a brick, restore from your nandroid and ready again

Attempt to build a rom or port PAC over to a new device

Hi ,
Sorry if this is wrongly posted.
I'm New to building a rom and i've read up on multiple threads on how to port/build etc,
but i'm confused with one thing, its said that the base rom should be the one that is able to run on the specific device.
I'm using the Pantech Vega Iron 2 IM-A910K , there are only 1 vietnamese rom , a Chinese rom which are both translated versions of the original korean rom with basic editing of the SMS limit and such, I was using The PAC man rom on both Sony Xperia Z1 and Z ultra before and i loved the functions it has, i wish to port this over to this device too but seems unsuccessful.
Is anyone able to tell me if i am able to build a rom for this device with the above mentioned avail stock modified roms as base or i have to fully complile a new one?
This Phone has great specs but Its just strange that few devs work in it, even the old Vega Iron A870 only had a multitude of roms including CM after about half a year later or so, as i just got this phone i dun really wanna leave it there unused till then hence i wanna attempt to build the rom myself.
any response is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

[DISCUSSION][I9300][Touchwiz][Android 4.4.4] -->back-to-n00t by arter97<--

Since Samsung stopped supporting the international galaxy S3 model (aka GT-I9300) claiming that the culprit is that it only has 1 GB RAM, so system apps cannot be run correctly, XDA Developers refused to settle down releasing the first milestone named ArchiPort, and here comes the other BIG EVENT.... :victory:
This is a discussion thread for the "back-to-n00t" project by @arter97, where latest Touchwiz Android 4.4.4 ported to the I9300 from the Korean version SHV-E210S, to keep the origional development thread clean and only development-related ...
before getting started, you must remember the what-so-called a disclaimer:
Your Warranty is now voided!
neither @arter97 nor me nor anybody is responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, exploded phones.
It's your choice to flash this ROM, not anybody else. If you don't know what you are doing, then i strongly advice you to do some research, or leave it until it is complete.
Also Mind that this is still Work-in-Progress
-->Features<--
**Stock Touchwiz Android 4.4.4**
**Heavily De-bloated**
**Deodexed, zipaligned, uncompressed**
**De-KNOXed**
What you need to know:
-->This ROM file contains kernel modified specifically for this ROM.
-->This ROM is heavily debloated, so it is very likely to find some system apps missing
-->This ROM does not supports any other custom kernels including arter97 kernel.
-->This is based on Korean firmware, some stuffs may remain in Korean(e.g. Dialer).
-->BusyBox or Superuser is not included!

Can you recommend one, for instance the one you are using??
Congrats!
I want to congratulate to @arter97 for his work, I'll being paying attention until stable ROM release to try it :fingers-crossedOnly one device to use, I can't permit me to lose connection :crying.
Question: I'm from chile... If I install this ROM, need to install local modem to avoid "no network" issue? (Obviously making backup of EFS before flashing).
Thanks!
Note: I can't see screenshots in official post "[I9300] [Touchwiz Android 4.4.4] back-to-n00t; Bring the LTE fun back to 3G". Please, upload more to another site!!!
Note 2: I think is the link in post that no allow me see the pictures.... No!! It's @arter97's website, error 404.

Yeah, that's my fear... I love custom ROMs, but my first experience was awful, I lost connection to network and sim was asking for PIN number... I had to send to repair my S3, only with 2 weeks of usage!!! (that occured 3 months ago) :crying:
Now, I'm using S5 Sensation ROM and I think is great, but I want to try others available developments
Greetings!

Yeah i noticed now
So you advice that thread should be closed?
But I think there will be so much fuss about it later, for example after it was discovered that SMS seems to be fixed with third-party apps.
And when the KK kernel source for the korean model is released, it will be more stable... So
May be @arter97 says something about this thread. If he wants that this thread must be closed then i have no problems... I just wanted to help
I am having connection problems here so i didn't see a lot of replies in the development thread. Thanks for letting me know..
I ask all of you to donate to the developers ..
They work every day to give us a free firmware kitkat stable ...
In a few hours have succeeded with hard work to give us a firmware almost totally stable ... finally soon we will have a stable firmware "semi-official"!:highfive::good:
Sorry for english!
why can not install ?
You need to download the ROM first

Is this ROM Sudden Death fix patched??
As kernel indicates the battery capacity in milliamp Android system , eg have a battery of 3500mAh and 2100mAh system warns all application says that the kernel is providing this information , but the forums only talk about percentage . excuse the word as it is not my native language.

Roms for Dev Edition

Hi all, there's been some back and forth as to which ROMs work on the dev edition. I decided to make a thread to list the ones I've tried and work. I figured we can share which worked and what you did to get them working (i.e. change APN, kernel, etc.). Thank you devs for sharing your great work I've used the following successfully:
Definitive
CM12 (known bugs)
Firekat (in T-mobile thread, daily driver)
Stock
Rick's
Well considering that there is no root available for the retail version it would make total sense that roms posted in the development forums are for the Dev edition of the device. I don't believe there is any question as which roms are for the Developer Device.
Edfunkycold
Have a great day!
I think he means Rom's that work versus those with too many bugs as opposed to DE vs RE rom's.
For this to be fully useful I would suggest links to the forum post for each Rom and listing out the different CM12 variants (AICP, PAC, etc.). Thanks
What I meant was, "I tried ROM xyz from the tmo forum using ABC kernel". I apologize if it wasn't clear enough. Some folks have successfully ported Roms that were for a different carrier.

My suggestion is that you edit the title also the other user has a great idea to post links for each one so you can actually have a help thread or index.

So....how did you get Firekat to work, then?
I'll update the page with links, etc. today. The Dev, Mega, makes a Verizon Dev edition specific version of Firekat. 11x is the most recent and it is listed under the T-Mobile Note 4 section but labeled as vzw.

why deverlopers don't creats a pure android for lenovo a6000

I tried all rom for lenovo on forum.( Lp, Mm,nougat)
They is so bad. Our excellent deverloper tried to add so much tweak, optimation from CM, Omi...., They is really not necessary and somtime get many bug. User want a rom useful, stable and simple.
Why don't you creat a simply, stable same as nexus with pure android.
This is my opinion. You worked hard, i'm thankyou very much.
Sorry for this my opnion.
Thread cleaned up.
It is simply a discussion thread. So let's keep it on discussion related to this topic only.
There is no need to go rude. If you feel annoyed, please add the member to your ignore list and move on.
Thanks!
Base stock rom is not good...so all the roms made from it will b laggy...buggy..use stock kitkat for best experience
Hey bro, i faced laging when view 720p video on app youtube.(on kitkat stock rom) And you ?
