Hey guys
I'm currently working on my first custom ROM mainly because there are currently no ROM for the dreaded G900H (aka Exynos) version. For this, I already downloaded a stock ROM and created my environment using Android Kitchen. So here are my questions:
1. I was able to follow and execute all the instructions to extract the custom ROM, install root and busybox. But first... is Android Kitchen even compatible with Galaxy S5?
2. Is it important to keep the CSC info on the new ROM? How can I backup current CSC info from my stock (carrier provided) S5?
3. How probable is to brick the phone if I flash a very alpha ROM as the one I'm supposedly cooking? I already have a nandroid and EFS backup
Thanks in advance for your answer and patience.

Funny, implying that this is an statistics game. It is not and it's ridiculous to blame developers for the lack of support.
Pretty much everyone that actually develops got the Snapdragon variant, if I had a choice I'd gotten that just by the amount of code and AOSP possibility.
Exynos was only supported by a couple of devs, it's all Samsung's fault - not devs. None of them currently has an S5.
Use xposed, greenify, titanium backup and there are few reasons you'll need a custom rom.
Xposed opened a new world of possibilities to modding.
Edit: Exactly that demanding attitude is what puts devs off. Other regions are usually more polite and grateful and that's something devs have noted in the past....

Sorry if I didnt make myself clear. English is not my first language. When I mentioned the millions of user was only to imply that more users, the more chance to have a genius among them. I didnt mean to have a demanding attitude. I was trying to say "Iknow you are out there, I know you are developing something for all of us. We are here waiting for your effort.
@CiDev:
You want to share your ROM for "H" here?
i dont think that will we have any custom rom for our model

I wouldn't bet *anything* on it being released, it looks to me like an abandoned project...
The whole 'I can't work on this because I don't have money' turned me off instantly from that ROM.
On topic: I have been working on a custom kernel for our device, mainly trying to improve battery life. I'm still testing, if it's worth it, I can release it.
It's based on the contributions of others, so it wouldn't be fair for me to keep it private, I just don't want to release something that will break stuff.

1 - yes.
2 - make an nandroid before
3 - if you have a brick, restore from your nandroid and ready again

I do not like MIUI for a number of reasons.
Their forum leaves a lot to be desired.
It is not GPL complaint.
I flashed HMNOTE1W_AOSP_DEV_0627.zip and it is working reasonably well.
Had to restore both IMEI numbers using MtkDroidTools v2.5.3
Have restored all files from my Nexus 5 with Titanium Backup.
Main problem is can't do anything about the kernel.
This is why development is limited as zelendel explain to me.
Too bad, as it is a nice phone for the money.
I didn't buy it. It was a gift from a friend in Malaysia, who knows
I like playing with phones.
Nexus 5 is my daily phone.
I just see the Redmi Note as a challenge.
nice bro.. can u share ur rom?

I downloaded it from the MIUI site.
See Here
HMNOTE1W_AOSP_DEV_0627.zip
You will lose your IMEI's.
Took me a while to get everything working.
Make sure you know how to unbrick your phone, just in case.
Trying new ASOP rom.
VANILA_XAN
SEE HERE
This is the same site listed in the All in One Thread.
The forum is in Spanish.
There are quite a few roms listed in addition to the ones posted.
I am only interested in ASOP roms.
You have to join to download roms.
Install straight forward using CWM.
As usual had to restore my IMEI numbers.
Been running for only about two hours, but seems fine.
Make sure you backup Titanium Folder to your PC if you plan to use it.
Here is another ASOP rom from the Spanish forum.
Direct Link
AOSP Z3
Very slow download for me for some reason.
Features:
Tweaked for better performance and stability
Removed built-in apps that are not often used
Pre-rooted
Zip-aligned
init.d Support
Any internal modification
Xposed Works Framework
Powered by Gravity Box
Lenovo Calendar
Lewa Calculator
Lenovo Music
File Manager Lenovo
Dual Sim Ringer
Xtended Rings
Haven't tried it, yet.

No problem. Trying to find useful information to post here.
The MIUI forum does not seem to be that good from a development
standpoint. I am certainly not a developer, so the best I can do
is post useful information.
Unfortunately, other than the MIUI forum, most forums are not in English.
I am able to get information from the Spanish Forum, as I know a little Spanish.
Google translate takes over when I don't understand something.
AOSP Z3 by Xancin
Installed AOSP Z3 by Xancin.
Xancin has Written many ROM's at the Spanish forum
movilesdualsim.com
SEE HERE
Had to restore IMEI numbers, which is necessary on every install I have done.
Very easy using MtkDroidTools v2.5.3.
Other than that, install was straight forward.
ROM running smooth for past couple of days.
Went back and reflashed VANILA_XAN ROM.
All ROM's are a matter of personal preference and
VANILA_XAN seems to suit me the best.
The other ASOP ROM's worked fine and will suit others.
Now trying the Dual Sim's. I have T-Mobile(USA) as default
and vodafone(NZ) as the second sim.
Since I will be spending Christmas in New Zealand thought
it a good idea to test it.
nice thread!. i am really hoping there would be a stable kk rom
Hey Everyone!
Carrier: Sprint
Phone: SM-G900P
Android Version: 5.0
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Root?: No but I need to be now!
(So pretty much all Stock Everything)
Experience: Baby/Noob
I have not rooted an android for about 2 years(And that was for my galaxy s2) and a lot has changed! I used to know a good amount but getting on this website instantly overwhelmed me. SOOO getting to my question
1.) What is the best rom that you have flashed?
-Doing a search I found the [MOAR] Rom but it was posted last January(and updated 08/27/2015) So it seems it would be out dated right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...om-v5-0-mod-control-floating-windows-t3016692
-Also found this one from CARBON Rom but it seems to have a problem playing media well over bluetooth(which I use constantly so that may be a problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/development/rom-carbonrom-kltespr-t3225270
- Found this one by rwilco12 it seems to be pretty much like stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...m-sm-g900p-og1-stock-rooted-deodexed-t3226240
2.) Do you have any advice for searching and finding new mods on this site? (There is just sooo much stuff)
Thanks for any help!!!
Your Biggest Fan,
CB

So I have an answer to my second question and I guess the best way is to go to the development section of your phone company.
For Sprint: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/development
Kinda obvious but honestly for someone as dyslexic and ADHD as me I get on here and am looking for something in big bold letters with everything I am thinking at that moment. Whenever I don't see that my brain explodes and causes me to have a tiny seizure. I am all better now.
Still curious about my first question. What is the best Rom for Sprint SM-G900P in your opinion?

I'm fairly new to all of this myself, but I can only suggest flashing the rom version from Resurrection Remix group. I've had this rom on my previous device (I9300), and since I loved it so much, I decided to continue on my latest device upgrade - the SM-G900F Just follow this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/unified-development/rom-resurrection-remix-5-3-4-t3033255

Thanks for the answer man! Will this version only work for the SM-G900F or will it also work for the SM G900P?
This is my plan for now
1.) Do the CF auto root. (that way I can download titanium backup to backup all of my stuff)
2.) Format phone
3.)Then re-root with either your suggestion or the MOAR root.
Any more suggestions?
Does anyone have any more suggestions about which root I should use
or comments about my plan of action in my previous post?
Hi there,
I own a Galaxy J500FN and have been unsuccessfully searching the web for a custom rom for my device.
I have used PA on both my S4 and S4 mini and would be very glad (so would many others) if somebody could dedicate some time on working on a build for this device?
It currently ships Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box.
There is no CWM Recovery build for this device but there is a TWRP Recovery Build that CTxz has kindly developed for us.
I am more than happy to flash experimental builds onto my device to help develop a custom ROM for it.
Thanks a lot!
Kyle
P.S: As many others have found, all root methods currently known for this device will trip the knox security.
No plans as we don't dev for devices we don't own or have access to. It is not on our radar at all, as with most Samsung devices.
@Pirateghost i can provide you all the files of j5 that you needs.

And what exactly does that do for us? That doesn't put a device in a developer's hand and they have ZERO way to test it. We know nothing about the device and we don't care to. It is not on the radar, it is not in the cards....
NO.
Not going to happen.
Please realize that developing for a device isn't easy. Even well documented ones bring along lots of hiccups along the way. There is no way in hell that we will take on a device request for a device that we don't own or plan on ever owning.
Here's a little FYI for you: we prefer Nexus devices or devices where the manufacturer/OEM is willing to allow/support bootloader unlocks, roms, development.
My advice to you: Learn how to bring up the device yourself, and build unofficials for yourself. This site was founded on being a resource BY developers FOR developers. Use the information available to you to build your own.
Is there any way to get Android Lollipop on the Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L? I have read about custom ROM's but I still don't know much about them and can't find any for this model. If anyone has found or created a way to flash a custom ROM onto this device, please let me know.

I also own this device, and unfortunately there is very limited support in the custom Rom department. If there was to be a lollipop Rom, someone would either have to port one somehow, or build it from source. Given the development rate for this device, I don't predict it happening anytime soon, sorry to say.
not going to happen
i have been trying since february the answer i got from my carier was samsung is contracted not to support this device thats why that is so hard to find samsung told me to take the device to bestbuy to force update if they could probably irrelavent but maby it helps
SM-S820L Got the Shaft!
Yup! This seems to be the future for the SM-S820L, or lack of future I should say.
I too have the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L. I have spent lots of hours scouring the internet looking through every android related forum in hopes of eventually finding someone that is undertaking much needed programming to build a custom ROM for this CorePrime version.
If you are looking for a custom recovery to use. I can point you to my and others posts over at Needrom. The best I can offer is an unofficial TWRP release, but it DOES work! It does for myself at least and I am no Android Guru whatsoever.
I guess I am not allowed to post Links in any of my posts yet because I am still a NOOB on these forums. I'll PM you with some direction my friend!
I cannot take credit for coming up with any of that software. I simply rooted around long enough to compile a collection of tools and files that worked for me to modify the Recovery of my SM-S820L.

I would love to help out as much as I can with modding your phone. Like I said, I'm not a proffesional but I have read up on the procedures used and been successful with my own Galaxy Core Prime:laugh:
I have been into modding my SM-S820L for a few months now and although I have found an unofficial TWRP release and a few stock ROM's from various sources, I have never seen any type of CyannogenMod ROM or other custom ROM for this phone.
Also I have been wondering about compatibility between some of the other Samsung Galaxy Core Prime models or similar Samsung phone in general. Would it be plausible that a ROM for say SM-G360T would run on an SM-S820L????
I would love it if anyone knows about compatibility between the SM-S820L and other Samsung Galaxy phone's firmware and custom recovery releases and is willing to share the knowledge would post here with some advice.:good:
Sm s820l
I'm in the same boat as you, there's just not much out there, a new rom was posted on area51 but it wasn't much different, just got rid of bloatware as far as I could tell. I look at it like it's a cheap phone, and as far as custom roms and such, it's just not popular or not favored. I've spent hours searching, nothing out there but malicious websites lol. I'll keep you in mind if I come across something.
Head over to NEEDROM. I built a modified ROM from the Stock firmware for the SM-S820L.
Here is my post!!!
CM, PAC, etc, ROMs for other variants of the Core Prime definitely aren't compatible with the 820L variant? Nothing available but stock-based ROMs?
As far as I have found on the Net, and I have searched for countless hours, I havent found any truly custom ROMs from CM or any other ROM makers. All of my modded ROMs and Kernels are just modified stock files. I havent heard of the other SM- variants being compatible with the SM-S820L but if you ever do find info that certain ROMs work with this model, please post here or shoot me a PM.
I would be uber happy to finally flash something like a Cyanogen Mod ROM

An acquaintance of mine just got a Core Prime, so I was looking for info to root and ROM his phone. If you, someone who's actively been looking for the info hasn't found anything yet, it's pretty unlikely that I will. Looks like he just had the crummy luck of ending up with the variant that doesn't have much dev support. Thanks for the reply, though. People over in the SPH-L720 section don't tend to be nearly so helpful.

Is his Core Prime model SM-S820L? If so, I remember using Kingroot to root and then SuperSu Me to remove Kingroot and retain root. You can find SuperSu Me in the Aptoide app store.
After I rooted my phone, I installed TWRP with ODIN3. You do need to have the Samsung Drivers setup and Kies3 installed to have all needed drivers in order to use ODIN3 in your phone's download(ODIN) mode.
