I'm thinking of using a Usb2.0 to micro usb adapter to connect my linksys ae3000 NIC to my Nexus 4.
wondering if that'd be possible, would i need to install drivers, and are they available?
yes it's rooted.
running version 4.4.4

Hey guys,
I would like to mirror my Samsung S4 with AppRadio Unchained to my Pioneer 2DIN unit in my car. The audio unit does have an HDMI input, several people do mirror the phone's screens with the help of a Dongle or HDTV adapter. I purchased the Samsung S4 HDTV adapter ET-H10FAUWEGWW and tested it, but my phone does not connect via MHL. The smartphone will be charged when plugged to the adapter, though.
I also attempted to mirror the phone to a Samsung HDTV, but the TV does not receive a signal, either.
I tried to mirror a Samsung S3 with my adapter on the Samsung HDTV and it worked flawlessly. I guess, the problem with mirroring my phone to a HDTV or my car audio unit is, that my S4 does not connect via MHL. Do you have any ideas why my phone does not connect?

Thank you very much in advance. I would be most grateful if you could help me!

Thank you very much for your reply! I downloaded the Snapdragon 600 fix and unpacked the file hdcpoff_sd600_4.4.2.zip to /system/lib. I rebooted the phone but still I do not get any MHL connection. Did I do something wrong or are there any other chances to fix the issue? Thanks in advance guys!

Did you set the permissions to 644 (rw-r--r--)?
If it doesnt work then you can try flashing this zip true the custom recovery.

No idea. If you really want it to work, then you should start from scratch.
That means unrooting and with a fresh rom.

Can I install this ROM in order to make the screen mirroring work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672053&nocache=1
Does this affect my root / superuser rights on my smartphone?
Is it necessary to install the above mentioned fix, then?
Thank you very much in advance!
If you have the 7 inch S4 there is no mhl on this device. The 8 inch does have mhl.

I've got the S4 GT-I9505 - hence, it does have MHL since it's not the S4 Mini. So, what can I do? Shall I cut the Superuser rights, flash the ROM and root it again? Is the ROM mentioned above by Samy Deluxe suitable for my plans? Is there anything more that I need to consider?
These videos explain but Full Screen mirroring but my phone does not get a MHL connection. Thank you for your help!

Try it with a fully stock rom with no root. Then you will atleast know that is the problem. If it doesn't even work with a stock rom, then it's not rom/root related.

Having read several posts, I guess the Kernel is the problem. A lot of people say that a modified Kernel with KNOX counter x1 will prevent the smartphone from using the MHL connection.
I am using this kernel: samsung GT-I9505 jfltexx KOT49H.I9505XXUFNA5 4.4.2 2
Is there any chance to use a rooted kernel and to use the MHL connection?
Thank you guys in advance!
EDIT:
Is this the right way for a solution?
- Flash stock kernel - which Kernel must be used for a German Vodafone S4 4.4.2?
- Use triangle away
- Check again if MHL is working
EDIT 2:
My knox warranty void is 0x1. Does this mean I cannot use Screen Mirroring anymore?
Thank you guys in advance!
Hallo, this is my first post in such amazing forum. I have a Samsung galaxy s4 gt-i9500 with the below specification
android 4.3
kernel 3.4.5-1875800 [email protected] #1 mon Oct 14 17:56:57 KST 2013
build number : jss15j.i9500xxuemj5
USB port is not working when connecting to pc but it charging well . Which made it a special case.

what I have did :
1 trying to fix usb port I have used every method ( changing usb cable original one , *#0808# mpt , Samsung drivers , kies 3 , USB Debugging Mode is enabled.)
2 – trying to root without pc tried (TowelRoot keep getting “Phone Isn't Supported" changing code and older version not solving my problem . Besides TowelRoot, I used some chines
apps but not getting anywhere.
so please help me root my device
thanks in advance

It's 100% rom unrelated. It's your usb port that is malfuntioning. Try to clean it.
Your pc doesn't detect anything when you connect your phone in download mode?
Hi Guys,
I've been always rooting my devices and flashing the latest roms, but since I had my nexus 4 I didn't needed to because it had the latest android already.
But now that Android 6 comes I really want it on my Nexus 4, there is just one problem; the usb connector is broken.
I've tried Kingroot, Towelroot & Framaroot, but non of them worked. Do you have any suggestions how to bring Android 6 for my devices without having to connect it to my pc?
My device:
Nexus 4, android 5.1.1
Thanks in advance,
Bas

You're gonna have to wait until someone makes a flashable zip I'm afraid cos it's only possible with fastboot for now.

How exactly are you managing to charge your phone if the connector is broken? NFC?
Anyhoo, You should have a look at getting one of these :

With a Qi wireless charger, which is supported by the Nexus 4?
I charge it with a wireless charger.
I think the easiest is indeed to repair my USB port.

Yeah, as you can see the parts aren't really expensive and you can easily get the screwdriver set on Amazon, there's also a lot of breakdown videos on YouTube showing you how.
e.g.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUVSmsFLqQg
Although, to be honest if you manage to get your phone rooted you can actually apply a recovery using the Flashify app.

Yes getting root is the problem. The apps that could root my device need recovery and the apps that could flash a recovery need root access.
Hello
Recently a purchased a TP-Link WN722N WiFi adapter and an OTG Adapter on eBay so I could perform Pen-testing from my phone using Linux Deploy with Ubuntu or Kali Linux. I hooked everything up, but iwconfig nor ifconfig shows the wifi adapter. Running lsusb shows the adapter, however. But since I can't get it to mount as a network interface, I can't use it for Pen-testing. I saw a few people on some other sites saying that you need to recompile a kernel for your device WITH the device drivers, and then reflash the new kernel, but that's not really an option for me since I have a CID11 chip and a locked bootloaders?
Amy help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Only way this will be possible for you is to have an unlocked bootloader.
I can tell you that it definitely does work with Kali Nethunter.

Dang. My S5 is one of two of my only OTG compatible devices. The other is a Verizon Moto E 2015 XT1528, which can't even be rooted, nevermind an unlocked bootloader.
So there's no way to install the Atheros drivers without flashing a custom kernel? Couldn't I just start the drivers while inside of Linux, I dunno.
Thanks anyway. Cheers

That would require a loadable kernel module. Which is indeed possible for sure.
But the s5 kernel will not even allow you to load any kernel modules.
Sorry man.
But I did just come across this when investigating your moto E http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-moto-e-2015-t3045748
not sure if you've seen it before or not.
It seems that it doesn't support unlocking the VZW Model's bootloader. Thanks anyway though :3. Big Red always has to mess things up.

Hi guys, ill be getting my OP5 soon and i had been hesitating whether i should oem unlock and root the device, rom modding is a sure thing to do if i did root the phone but is there a way to totally flash back the phone to the original state? E.g. factory rom, factory bootloader and recovery...
Thanks

there is a switch in advanced settings which enables otg, so i presume it natively supports otg without the need of an external app..
(though i have not tested otg function myself yet..)
thus defeating your need to root?

with a custom recovery (like TWRP) and root solution (SuperSU or MagiskSU), the recovery sticks across reboots..
and the bootloader stays unlocked after flashing the official rom..

hmm you guys think it is to early to flash custom Roms and wait a bit for stable builds/TWRP ?
Since alot of software updates are being pushed at OP5 the upcoming time i think
i fully agree with your suggestion...till explore the power of 1+5
OTG works just fine without root once the option is turned on in the settings. I have used it last week to transfer my SD contents to the phone.
I have tested a cheap £2 USB C OTG adaptor from ebay that works just fine and i have also tested using a Micro USB to USB C adaptor along with a USB to Micro USB adaptor that works also.

I was thinking about it just then, maybe i wont root and flash when i receive the phone, i never had an op5 before so i am eager to know what performance it has, i just hope that their tweaks for the andoid711 is what i wanted
I rooted right away so I could use some of my root apps, but I'm staying on the stock ROM for a while. They're pushing out tons of updates recently, so until the stock ROM gets most of the quirks sorted out, I'll be staying there.
Hi guys,
I come from a Nexus 5 and I've a nooby question...
If the bootloader is unlocked, the OTA updates are still ok ?
I mean, on my Nexus, with an unlocked bootloader I need to flash manualy the last update every time.
Is it the same with OnePlus ?
Thanks for your reply =)
I decided I was not going to root at first, thinking why bother, but then I got to thinking about data loss.
Let's say the phone bricks, my friend's OP3T did just that (he got it replaced no big deal). I want to be able to restore my phone to exactly the way it was either via titanium backup or nandroid backup.
