Hi,
GOAL: Samsung Touchwiz stock ROM (as it really works WELL!!)
Remove/Move the APPS Drawer from the DOCK and place in a folder on the wallpaper.
Using an APP LIKE Safestrap gives the opportunity to run multiple roms using SD card.
** I wish to try safestrap on G900W8 but I can't find a compile for W8 to test other ROMS and I anticipate that some one will develop the ability to use this across all Galaxy S5 eventually.
I have taken the standpoint the best way to have a reliable well working Galaxy S5 is to run a stock ROM.
Other roms are excellent but the S5 is also an infant for the custom rom section and future roms will eventually be much more compatible with all hardware.
- root
- remove/uninstall/freeze Samsung Bloatware etc
- Remove the extra junk.
- Enable additional features in CSC xml files like native sip calling or call recording and so on.
The last issue with the Stock ROM that I don't like is the APPS Drawer on DOCK.
I don't need to goto this complete list of apps hardly ever.
Using a different LAUNCHER is a well known solution but I wish to use the STOCK launcher.
Can anyone find the file containing the information. I was unsuccessful in the system/csc and so on.
Thank Guys
Cheers

I hope this is not a totally dumb question as I am new to Android phones:
There are some good apps that come with the note as standard like S Memo and also some Samsung specific things like S Choice. How do I keep these when I upgrade to a custom Rom.
I looked as Astro file manager back up capability, and it doesn't list these there.
Would Titanium backup list them and allow me to save them for re-installation?
Thanks
Chris
You can't really keep them on a non-Samsung ROM as they depend on the Touchwiz framework. Sorry :'-(

are u going to be flashing an ICS rom or staying on Gingerbread? you will not be able to use any pre-installed apps if you are flashing ICS rom. But if you're flashing a GB rom (rocket rom v23, checknote etc) then you can use Titanium Backup but most GB roms come with smemo, splanner, etc. Hope this helped.

Thanks for those replies guys, it's actually really helpful for a newbe like me. I need to explaore the standard apps a bit more to see what's good and whether I need a substitute for any.
I was thinking of flashing an ICS ROM, but I need to explore which one is the best.
If I loose the S.Memo app, that seems really good, is there a substitue in the market? Of all the apps that utilises the pen, that would seem to be the key one!
Your advice is appreciated.
I'm using a modified version of MyScript Notes Mobile which I think works perfect for handwriting notes. Get it here (and thank the guy who modified it in that thread ): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594325
It's in American/English only but if you need any other language you can download a language pack with 28 additional languages here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426975
I'm not sure if the ICS roms based on the leaked Samsung firmwares have all the s-pen apps but I'm sure just about any custom GB rom here is based on original Samsung firmwares and thus include all Samsung apps (unless explicitly mentioned in the thread that they were removed ofcourse).
You can still use your pen in ICS roms that are not based on Samsung firmwares though you'll lose pressure sensitivity. If you feel like you'll need pressure sensitivity you could flash a rom based on LP6.
Is it possible to install CM10/AOSP/AOKP apks in the stock TW ROM?
At the moment I'm running AOKP nightly and love the layout and features of the apps. However I miss some of the TW features (mainly gestures, battery life and IR blaster).
The apps that I mostly care about are:
1. Messaging
Found the following thread, will keep an eye on it, but as it stands MMS isn't working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2254459
2. Contacts
3. Phone
Reason I want the above is because I hate the look of the TW interface for the above 3 apps, and much prefer the clean look of the CM10/AOSP/AOKP versions.
Thanks!
buddy, Aosp/Aokp/Cm10 rom has made using Aosp pure Rom. so if u install any application and it installed normally then only it can work else any Mod can change that using compiling the application.

I'm not sure what you mean.
Maybe I wasn't clear in my first post.
Is it possible to port the apk's mentioned above to Stock TouchWiz firmware.
Messaging has been completed, now all I need is contacts.apk and phone.apk to work.
I'm already running AOKP (and love it), but miss some of the stock features (mainly gestures and IR blaster).
So if I could get a combination of stock rom and certain AOKP apk's then I'd be happy!
I've seen some omni rom's for different carrier's for the s4 that have multi window. Is there such a rom for Sprint?
Preferrably 4.4.2 but not necesary. Currently I'm running Omega Rom v19 after exporting APN's from cm10.2 using apn backup/restore (giving it system app status with titanium pro... but can be done with es). v20 rom doesn't seem to want to boot fully.
Anyways, Omega rom v19 is touchwiz and I really prefer a clean aokp/aosp/cm layout (i.e. google), but the multi window I think is a really indispensable feature that I could really take advantage of.
Any suggestions? I did find Smasher rom that says "multi-view" but I posted on the thread my lack of being able to get it to work in any way other than a simple notification bar.
I have read a bit on the topic of ROMs, but I have never rooted or installed a custom ROM until now. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, I am just trying to figure out the whole odexed/deodexed deal.
From what I've gathered, deodexed ROMs were originally used to be able to edit things such as status bar colors (clock, notification icons, etc) and even the icons themselves. They boot 'slower' but after the initial boot it is not that recognizable as newer hardware more than compensates for this issue. (I have a Galaxy S5 G900P)
So I have flashed a deodexed ROM onto my phone (R.D.D.T.). Now, this ROM also has an odexed version as well. I assumed that having the deodexed version would allow me to edit icons, colors, etc. However, I'm not quite sure how I can do it.
I have seen and read about people installing custom, deodexed ROMs onto their phones, and many of them (Alliance, X-Note) will come with either an app pre-installed on the ROM, or a ROM-specific menu in Settings. This menu lets them customize things in the way I would like to be able to. The problem is that, at this time, the G900P (Sprint) version of the Galaxy S5 is not supported by either of those ROMs, or many other popular ROMs for that matter. R.D.D.T. (and R.O.D.T as well as the Mystery Build) was one of the only ROMs I could find that explicitly supports the G900P. I like the concept of this ROM, as it seems like a good, no BS bloat-less ROM that is otherwise very close to stock Android. But, I do not believe it came with any ROM-specific way of editing colors, themes, icons, etc. So my question is a few parts I guess:
-Is there still a way (downloadable app, editing files, etc) for me to be able to edit colors on the S5 with this ROM?
-In a situation like this, what is the benefit of having a deodexed ROM installed?
-Are there other ROMs similar to R.D.D.T. that currently support the G900P S5 which additionally offer customization?
-What is it with the Galaxy S5 that is causing so many ROMs to not officially support it?
Sorry for the long post, but my primary aim here is to learn everything that I can about this.
Hey guys, so i have got the i9505 and i have a few questions about it.
1: It's pretty laggy but i really do like the look of the s4 touchwiz, are there any tweaks/mods that I can do to increase performance? 2nd option is me installing a rom, any recommendations?
2: I know it's pretty far-fetched but is their like an app where you can install apps on but it's sort of like a cloud storage so you dont have to install the app on your device or sd-card. I don't think there are but if it is possible it would be epic. If there are no apps like that, is there an option to automatically save app data to a cloud storage (yeah i have titanium backup pro, but i dont think when you put your files in dropbox/google drive it will actually read them from dropbox/google drive. And when you sync app data with dropbox/google drive i dont think it removes the files of your sd card.
So if someone knows something about these 2 topics I'd like a reply
Thanks for reading,
See the custom roms are on preference.
Few like the touchwiz based roms.
Others like pure android. (CM AOSP PW Mahdi etc etc)
Touchwiz roms are beautified by the devs. We have to apply themes on CM/AOSP to get the beauty and can change it as and when we like.
CM/AOSP roms have better update support. A touchwiz dev might just abandon the project after a few updates.
Plus CM/AOSP based roms use less ram than touchwiz roms.
On the other hand, TW based roms are a boon for the i9505 people. Those who dont want to trip the knox counter can flash a few TW based roms without tripping knox!!
And TW based roms bring out the real beauty and 0% bloat and lag on the TW launcher and additional aspects.
It is all on preferences. You can check the i9505 Android Development and i9505 Original Android Development thread for your picks
I was a TW rom lover too, till I flashed a CM11 based rom
You can get the TW feel on CM11 bdw
"If someone helps, never forget to hit thanks ? "
Thanks i'll search for some ROMs then
