Sim not allow mm#3 solution - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here is a brief history of what I tried to get my AT&T NOTE 3 to get unlock without unlock code which ended up screwing up my phone.
I rooted. Attempted Region Unlock by ChainFire so my Tmobile sim would work; didn't work. Found some leads for hidden dial pad menus. The one with the most accesibility and confusion was the "Access the dial pad and type the following: *#197328640#." this one is tricky. You need to first hit menu then select "back". There will be no changes in the screen. then you hit menu, key entry "Q". again you will see no changes. Last you hit menu, key entry "0000". WAIT MANY SECONDS. You will be taken to another menu.
I made many changes. Thing is, I've been around the many communities and know my way around the wierd codes in the hidden menu. Do not mess with anything in there! It is what got me to screw up my SIM reader. I resorted to an option in the hidden menu where you go from "UE SETTINGS AND PROTOCOL" to "SETTINGS".... there were a few other options which led me to NV REBUILD. The NV from my experience in the RAZR M SIM unlock allows the SIM unlock. If it were to be rebuild it would reset the changes I've made. It rebuilt and I rebooted my phone and I immediately received 4G and was able to make phone calls and texts.

In need of urgent help - PIN number

Ok so I dont know what happened. I installed this medaldetector app for my phpne. I installed it and ran it and then it sor of had a spaz attack. Had no idea to close it so I took the battery out. (This might have nothing to do with my issue) So when I started up my phone it asked me for a pin number. I never use a pin number and I do not recall turning the option on to use one. So now I cant call or txt or anything like that without the pin.
So I am really stumped. Help me out please.

try your sim card in a different phone and see if it asks for pin code. if it does, somehow pin verification got activated. you need to find the little card that came with your sim card which has the pin code and puk code. if you can't find it, call your operator, they will give you those. (puk code is used when you entered your pin code wrong 3 times) good luck.
Thanks alot... Helped
I have WinMo 6.5.5 on my phone and can't find where to turn off the Pin verification? Anyone know how to do this?
On your home screen, scroll accross to the end (Setings). Tap menu and press All Settings. Go to Personal and then to Phone. You should be able to disable it there.
Alternatively, you could just tap your top menu bar. There should be an icon for your service provider, just tap that and it should directly take you to the option you want.

Secret Menus

Secret Menus
EDIT: ROOT NOT NEEDED FOR THIS TO WORK.
This is a list of the codes to get into the secret menus on the SF. The list has been complied mostly by egg_head over at XDA, as well as a few others.
I shouldn't have to say it, but I will..
I nor this forum or the op is not responsible if you brick your phone.
Play with these things at your own risk.
Even if I said it's been tested by me and confirmed to work.
It's not my fault if your phone takes a crap on you.
Make a backup of your phone.
Some members of another forum where having trouble using these codes and I've discovered that you need Hidden menu enabled. To enable Hidden menu, do the following:
Go into the Dialer and enter *#83786633 then press the Home key
Go back into the phone dialer and enter *#22745927
Now a box will come up asking for the SPC code. Enter 000000
Press the Hidden menu Enable radio button.
Now you can use these codes.
The dialing code string you have to use is *##
Here are some things you can gain access to
Audio Tuning
*#28346#
Several audio tuning menus.
I've only tested the two items below:
To silence boot and shutdown audio go to Situation/BOOTSOUND and turn the values to 0. I've tested and confirmed this works.
To silence the volume key audio when turning the volume up/down go to Situation/VOLUMEKEY and turn the values to 0. I've tested and confirmed this works.
Full Bat Popup
*#3844228#
This allows you to disable the full battery pop-up.
I have tested this and it works successfully.
HwCodec
*#0002*28346#
Audio path volume controls. Most importantly, it looks like there's a sidetone adjustment.
I have not tested any of these items yet.
Shutdown
*#7594#
This enables you to shut your phone off by long-pressing the power/lock key.
No more pop-up confirmation.
I have tested this and it works successfully.
I also need to point out that this disables your slide lock screen.
Diag/Testing Mode
*#4636*1111#
GPSSetup menu
*#1472365#
The settings are set to the "fixed" values by default.
You can go into Command and then start GPS and force a satellite lock.
There's other cool info there too.
*#7594#
If your enable this, it appears to not only shutdown your phone with a long press of the power key, but it also disables your lock screen (puzzle/glass screen).
Enter GPS debug/settings application by typing *#1472365#
click "Setup" tab
click "position mode"
Click "starting mode
Enable "Cold Start"
Back out.
Other Codes (thanks Dlwicksel!):
*#1472365# - GpsSetup
Very useful tests for the GPS!!!
Setup/Position Mode/ Operation Mode: (Standalone/MSAssisted/MSBased) Starting Mode: (Cold Start/Warm Start/Hot Start) Session Type: (Single Fix/Navigation) Setup/Command allows you to test the GPS and look at the results

Updated above info. Wherever instructed to enter an SPC code, dial 000000. The differs from Sprint customers who have to enter an MSL code, which they typically don't have.
The code to change the voice codec EVRC to EVRC-B has been found. Just follow the directions below. If it dials the code you entered then you need to follow the steps in the first post to enable the secret menus.
Open the dialer then press
**772
SPC code 000000
The bottom of the screen will have buttons that are directional like a d-pad.
Press down until you see:
SVC Mode NAM1
End of BASIC NAM
Exit
Press right once you will see EXIT change to MORE
Hit enter
Press Down once and you will See
HomePage VoiceSO
EVRC
Push right button to change to EVRC-B
Hit OK Phone will reboot
I made a few calls after this and was told by everyone that the quality was so much better.
WARNING!!!!
THIS COMMAND
"##GPSCLRX# - Reset the GPS - (Verizon customers: whenever prompted for SPC enter 000000)"
FORCES THE SAMSUNG MOMENT TO LOOP RESTART FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES UNTIL IT FINALLY REBOOTS THE PHONE.
I HAVE TESTED THIS, AND WENT TO SPRINT STORE, WHERE THEY JUST REPLACED THE PHONE
I'm not sure what it would do with the fascinate...
I have used the hidden gps menu alot, but when i tried the "##GPSCLRX# command it made the Samsung loop restart, it would reboot itself for 5 or 10 minutes before finally booting to home screen
I read on another forum (don't remember which one) that it clears the GPS then functions as i said above, the posters fix was to boot to recovery and restore phone to factory defaults.
i was unable to boot to recovery using his key sequence (volume down, power key and camera simultaneously)
I want use the secret menus, but am having issues with the first steps. I am supposed to go into the Dialer and enter *#83786633 then home, then after entering *#22745927 do I do something else bc nothing cues me to enter SPC code??
Thanks!
Here is what you do. You enter the first code, then go home. Back to the dialer and delete the first code then enter the second. after that a screen pops up asking for the password or whatever it is then enter 000000. after that start entering whatever codes you want. It confused me too at first.
On android 2.2, there is listing for mms provisioning in ##DATA#. It asks for the lock code. I tried the SPC but it does not work. I also tried other possible lock codes. What could be the lock code?
##DATA#
MMS provisioning Lock Code = 500667
Hey guys, the hidden menues don't really work after 2.2. I remembered that TSM parts in the COMRom had it already accessable though.
You can also read this link. I have not verified it yet but looks to take care of your full battery pop up issue.

Disable Lock Screen
Hey I was wondering if you were able to get this to work...I upgraded the software the other morning and now no app bypasses the lock screen...I use NoLED as well, and if I can get the lock disabled and be able to use NoLED I would be golden, for some reason that whole lock thing just pisses me off ;o)
I went to the dialer punched in the codes to unhide the menu, I assume all I have to do is hit send? Didnt work... am I missing something?

Use at your own risk and backup your phone first, then you can try the below which worked for me.
To disable it without using an app or rooting your phone, you can enable the Hidden menu by doing the following:
Go into the Phone dialer and enter *#83786633
Press the Home key
Go back into the phone dialer and remove the previous numbers
Enter *#22745927
A menu box will prompt for the SPC code. Enter: 000000
Press the Hidden Menu Enable radio button.
Now you can use the below codes to do the following:
Disable Full Bat Popup:
*#3844228#
This allows you to disable the full battery pop-up.
Enable quick Shutdown and disable swipe screen:
*#7594#
Disables your slide lock screen completely.
This enables you to shut your phone off by long-pressing the power/lock key.
By-passing the pop-up confirmation and mode selection.
Again, do so at your own risk... Done this twice successfully on 2 separate Fascinate phones.
Why? There are threads and websites and blogs listing this stuff already. Pointless post.

I usually don't say anything against ANYONE, but if you google this stuff you will find out that... this is the same post as many others, and I mean identicle.. as in copy and pasted from there to here.
I wanted to try this out for the gps, however its not working for me. Does this work for CM7 or just TW? I cant seem to access hidden menus.
I can only access *#*#4636#*#*, no others?
I can only access *#*#4636#*#*, no others?
You have hit *#22745927 then enter 000000 in the SPC code to enable the hidden menu's
I gather the codes up and put them in one thread I thought might make it easier on the ones looking for them if you got a problem with don't open the thread!!!!
No dice on any key combo I've tried. I found in another forum for different phone that cm7 doesn't work with these codes.

[Q] Unable to edit APN settings

Good Morning, Afternoon, or Evening,
I have an unlocked and rooted (I haven't done anything besides download SuperSU and Titanium Backup) Sprint Galaxy S4 that I am able to make calls and texts with but I am unable to go on the internet. I am currently stationed in Belgium and am using Mobile Vikings as my service provider (irrelevant?) and all I want to do is access my APN settings so that I can go on the internet. But the "Edit Access Point" option in settings does not show in my phone.
Have I done this before with another phone? Yes, with an unlocked Sprint Iphone 4s in this country with the same carrier.
I'm unsure at this point what I need to do. Any help is appreciated.
this is solved in post #4
Thanks for the info! Now to figure out how to use it all... I'm new to all of this.
I got the phone unlocked through sprint.
Add the following to your build.prop file and reboot and the APN settings will no longer be greyed out:
Code:
ril.sales_code=LOL
ro.csc.sales_code=LOL
I personally hate the Touchwiz launcher and use Nova Launcher instead. With that, I was able to add a shortcut onto one of my homescreens to go right to the APN settings.
You'll also need to force the phone into WCDMA only mode (not WCDMA preferred, that doesn't work) or it seems to only want to use GSM/EDGE rather than WCDMA/HSPA (at least that was the case for me). Nova Launcher also let me add a shortcut for that hidden menu (called the Testing menu) since Samsung disabled the dialer shortcut for it. There are free apps in the Play Store that will also let you get into the Testing menu.
Thanks for the advice! I'm still lost in the sauce though about how to do all of this but I'll figure it out.
I may have found a solution over at the sprint forums to remedy the issue without messing with the build.prop file! It still requires root, but the guy over there did say it worked for him at least.
It looks like you'll need to do the following, assuming you can get your phone connected to WiFi.
Download the "Offline SIM APN Databse" app over here.
Using Titanium Backup, convert this app to a system app. This is necessary in order for it to write APN settings. To do this, open TB, go to Backup/Restore, find the app, select it, and it should be under "Special Features"
Open the app with your international SIM inserted and press "Look for Settings for this SIM". With any luck it should find the appropiate APNs for it.
Notice when displaying the settings found for your SIM, there's an option to select "Go to Android APN Settings". Without editing the build.prop however, you can not edit or add anything to this hidden menu.
Press "Add These Settings" to add the APN settings. Ignore the warning about it not working on ICS, it'll work as long as you converted it to a system app.
It'll take you to the hiden APN menu, you can confirm it was added just fine here.
That should be it. You can backup your APN settings beforehand if you want, which I don't think is 100% necessary since if anything happened then doing System Update > Update Profile should write the Sprint APN settings in. To back up, Download APN Backup & Restore, convert that to a system app, and Backup your APNs through it.
To get to that menu Ingenium13 talks about to set it to WCDMA only, you have to, in Nova Launcher, long press on the home screen > shortcuts > activities > settings > Testing (the first one). This will add a shortcut to the Nova home screen, go into it then Device Information and from there you can change preferred network type to WCDMA if you need to.

Any idea what's going on?

I have also unlock many Sprint GS4 .. after i would root the phone and download APN Backup & Restore and download Titanium backup and convert to system only and backup the Previous APN to creat a folder n than after i would push my tmobile settings xml ... thats the way i do my settings ..
option
Will this option work for a verizon gs4 flashed to cricket, As of now I inserted a vzw sim and get 3g, after toggling wifi I lose the icon. I have to pull the sim and reinsert it, after doing that I get 4g lte for the 1st 5 mins. However in the acces point names, I only have a VZW-INTERNET option and editing is greyed out as well. but with that said After inserting the vzw sim I get 3g but just about everything in the vzw-internet settings says not set, besides everything from MCC and down is labeled. So will this option work or not, Thanx in advance

If you are on NAE you don't have to do this. On stock you can edit apns. But yes add to the end of the build prop.
never mind sorry
Tried this on my Galaxy s 5 and now my APN menu is totally gone. Can't even see the APNs let alone them being greyed out.
FWIW - On both the current firmware versions of the Sprint S4 tri-band (OF1 ) and S5 (OF6) you can still (amazing they haven't plugged this hole!) manually edit the APNs from the ##DATA# menu. Amazingly you don't even need your MSL. After entering ##3282# in the phone dialer, you will get a menu with choice of "View" and "Edit". Select "View", then scroll down to APN Settings. This is great for enabling wifi tethering without rooting (http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/general/lollipop-hotspot-root-flashing-t3144350), among other things. I really can't believe they haven't shut this hack down yet...
How do you execute this edit for un greying?

/system/app mover is a small and free utility, just 233 kb in size, which lets you convert user apps to system apps and system apps to user apps too. I'm trying this one. However I'm still having issues with this whole APN business. I'll find a chat thread for my new hurdle.
Sprint S6 Edge Plus SM-G928P - Long Shot
:fingers-crossed: So I have the aforementioned phone and I am unable to add or edit my APNs. I have dealt with adding and deleting APNs on multiple handsets. This one though, is kinda new to me and is giving me a brain ache. I have 2 sims I can use and both are GSM. I have tried editing the build.prop file to no avail. I have rooted and flashed and downgraded and upgraded, used apps to try and access the restricted APN menu and all have failed. Am I just stuck like chuck here? Or am I doing something wrong on my end? I know this post is pretty old and chances are slim anyone will answer but in the chance that someone does, any help or ideas are welcomed and greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance.

hit the upper right menu button, select key input, and type a capital Q, then ok. then menu again, key input type in 4 zeros "0000" and hit ok. Menu again and hit the back selection, menu again and hit the back selection. I bought my LG K51 last May 2021 (not knowing they stopped making the phones a month before) then in February 2022 it started the "swipe unlock icon to use call options" i tried to get Metro PCS to replace the phone with something else because i can not disable that feature I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE PHONE if it had done it at the time of purchase and they DID NOT tell me they stopped making LG phones the month before. Does anyone know how to go to the root menu or anything else to stop or disable this sabotaged phone ?
go into apps, select show system. find phone with a blue "phone" icon . select it and clear cache, then go into advanced and uncheck or disable "Open on top of apps" or similar... do this for all apps with "phone" icon that you think has any connection to the dialer.. hope this helps.
