What would be the closest to pure stock android on G2

Hey guys,
So I am really torn between LG G2 and nexus 5, I want the lg g2 specs (battery) with pure stock basically. I really appreciate all the roms I have used with my sensation, but even CM wasnt reliable enough. I was looking for commentary on how close we are going to be able to get with reliable pure stock experience of the n5 on the g2 AT&T.

I think by stock he means aosp...not sick LG Rom.

If you load any of the custom AOSP ROMs and stay out of the extras, its virtually a stock experience. As of right now there is no straight AOSP for G2.
Hopefully we'll see our first with 4.4!

I've been the biggest AOSP fanboy for years - since the OG Droid days. I hated and avoided any phone with an OEM skin. I bought this phone with the intention of putting the first pure AOSP ROM out there. Then I started using the phone and realized the LG skin is super minimal and nearly all of the features are very useful. I'm officially a former AOSP fanboy now. Give the G2 a try and I think you'll find the same thing.

Nova launcher. 8sms disable, q slide. And grab a aosp gallery apk maybe a aosp dialer. I prefer dialer one. Remove bloat and I'd say that you're close to stock. Could grab aosp camera, but why.
With googles focus on apps now. The ROM is beginning to matter less and less.

I don't see any reason to consider LG UI far from stock. It follows Holo guidelines (ahem, I'm looking at you Touchwiz) and is smooth. Take it out for a spin in-store, I think you'll like it. Just ignore the icons and install Nova Launcher.
I like Kitkat, but it's not like we won't get it on the G2. CM will get there in no time. The one thing that keeps me from buying the Nexus 5 is the crap battery; I don't know about you, but I can't stand it.

Give LG UI a spin, maybe you'll like it. I installed KitKat Theme and all the ugly icons are gone now. Maybe you can install Aprx or Nova Launcher.

What about battery? I think cm can last longer than lg stock rom. However note 2 with tw last longer than note with aokp/cm.

I've been using CM now for a few days on my Verizon G2, and personally find it to be extremely usable as a daily driver. Of course there will be minor issues here and there since we're talking about nightly builds, but I'm sure they'll get those worked out soon enough and have a stable release.
That aside, as others have mentioned, the stock LG UI really isn't that bad as far as bloat, etc. While I do find the phone to be a tad more responsive and less laggy on CM, LG's UI is really quite usable, and doesn't add too much to the normal stock/AOSP experience.

Which KitKat theme are you talking about. I dig the AOSP look and have been trying to find a good way to replicate the appearance.

Not sure about battery life on CM vs stock, but i have a feeling that LG's optimizations aren't in vain. CM on the Optimus G offered great performance but relatively short battery life.

G2 stock Audio system

all i want to know is, flex roms has this compatibility with g2 stock audio system?
- Sonido Dolby Mobile
- Sonido 24 bits/192KHz
I know that all aosp/aospa/omni/etc got no compatibility with this, i dont know why,m but sound is really bad compare to stock... so, beside stock, flex rom based got this compatibility? (flex mobile does not, this is why i ask to you this...)

Really would hate to bump such an old thread but I'm also wondering whether the G3 based roms or Flex based roms or gpro based roms have these features?

you know what? I got tired trying to find anything better than stock, yes STOCK, roms and.... nothing.... there's no non-stock rom based with this beatifull sound quality.... i recommend you pardus.... You'll have battery and performance.... if you stay on really stock official, try dorimanx he had update sound drivers and its really nice, like jb sound quality (wich was better than kk)

I would stay on stock except the whole UI is so ugly...
I can't stand the G2 ui. I really hope that the 5.0 Update that LG gives us has the G3 UI so I can use stock without wanting to tear my eyes out. (No offense to anyone who likes the G2 UI). I tried to change the look of the UI but no matter what the G2 UI would still be somewhere (couldnt remove it all) and I'm a perfectionist so having the G2 UI in one place and the UI I substituted in other places looked really bad to me.. If there is a comprehensive theme for a stock based G2 ROM then I'd be happy to stay however most themes are only for the launcher. I was also going to go onto pardus but it still has the stock UI everywhere but the homescreen...
I'm using dorimanx and cloudyg3 and the sound quality is kinda worse than my old nexus 5 so I am really looking forward to the day LG updates our UI (inb4 they never do). (Using ViPER4ANDROID on both phones)

I don't know how to theme the systemui app but would like to have a lollipop look into settings and others.... The hs I replaced it with nova prime and it goes better.... But there's nothing like stock

Yeah i agree. Ill just wait till we get our official lollipop release and then ill have the great audio quality as well as the other benefits of stock based roms.

Cloudyg3 has this but i have no clue about the 24 bit audio
This effect sounds bad though so i dont use it. It distorts the sound and adds an echo type effect...

Look, I don't want anyone get mad, but V4A do nothing. It's like, for me, my opinion, dsp manager... The el from cm.... Again there's no aosp, aokp, etc roms that give us the image quality and audio quality like stock... I am really disappointed how all aosp roms are built on G2, cero quality......

[Q] Is it worth it to install a G3 Rom on G2?

Hello all,
I've recently bought a LG G2 (D802). I've seen that there are a few ROMs which have been adapted from the G3 model to the G2: Cloudy G3, Optimus G3 and Lam Hoang G3. I have had a look to this last one and there are still some issues with the ROM.
I wonder whether it's really worth it to install one of these ROMs or it would be enough just installing G2 Exposed and changing the theme to look like the G3 one?
Obviously there are some other differences like some new applications. However since they are both based on Android 4.4.2 I don't see how much difference there could be if I use Xposed.
Here are some of the pros and cons I can see:
G3 ROMs over stock:
Camera
Keyboard
UI (G2 can be adapted to look almost the same as G3 (Tweaks box + G3 theme) though)
Less bloatware as custom ROMs get rid of them in most cases
Smart notice (is it good?)
G2 stock over G3 ROMs:
Most stable software
Less risk of virus in your phone (if you install a custom ROM you don't really know if the person who built it put some spyware in it)
Official updates (I guess official G3 ROMs won't get official updates)
Are there any new applications/features apart from above which make worth it installing these ROMs? Maybe performance benefits?
*This is not a thread to discuss whether it's good or not making custom ROMs. In fact, I want to say thanks to all those developers who spend hours trying to bring something better to our phones.

I too am interested in hearing responses to this. I previously came from a galaxy s3 (d2spr) and I thought many roms were worth installing on that device as many actually improved either functionality, battery life, or performance. But with my g2, I'm really content with the stock kk. I've heard the camera on the g3 roms is pretty awesome, but I've also heard of issues with hdr not working. Can't wait to hear responses.

I'm on stock, rooted rom, g2 tweaksbox, g3 theme and the camera tweak which adds some features.
It's a great way to go, everything works like a charm.

You won't find a single rom that doesn't have someone complaining of issues. So far though CloudyG3 1.2 has been exceptionally stable and pretty much fully functional. Even stock has its quirks in terms of issues.

I use Cloudy G3 1.2, and after a few tweaks, it runs pretty damn smooth. I like it over stock!

Using OptimusG3 and everything is smooth as butter!

I like to add one more candidate for a G3 rom: lamhoang G3 FINAL

No, i getting excellent battery life on the Lamhong roms.
8+ hours screen on my 802 and 6+ hours on the 320k

Hi,
I'm running OptimusG3 v1.2. In the beginning tried CloudyG3.
I started experimenting with G3 ROMs since it's G3 has nicer interface than G2 ROMs. It has G3 camera and keyboard. It has also G2 FM Radio apk. CloudG3 has G3 FM radio apk that crashes.
Overall good ROM but battery live could be better when you use it, In stand by is OK.

I tried the G3 rom for a few days but ultimately went back to stock rooted. The flatter, minimal theme of the G3 looks great, but that was about it. I have the VS980 which isn't fully supported for the G3 rom (yet) so I had minor data/mms issues and poorer battery life. Plus, I think the camera on the G3 is a downgrade compared to the G2 - less features/options, and pictures seemed to look a little worse.
For now, I use Nova with a G3 theme, and G2 Xposed/Tweakbox to mimic some other aspects of the interface (notification toggles, status bar tint, etc)

I'm running CloudyG3 and i'm really enjoying it so far, the new 1.2 update added all the missing things so now im super happy

Well, we KNOW of carriers that add spyware to our phones. Also, many devs post their source, so there's that...

Does this even matter when you can just update the custom ROM? You want the latest carrier update that bad, you'd only have to wait a couple hours.

This is more a lack of a con than a plus.

For Camera, you can install xdabbeb's camera. I read a couple of days ago that there will be an update and that his camera will be available in apk.
For the Keyboard, you can install the LG G3 keyboard as an apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793602

Does the camera launch directly from the volume down button when using the shortcut?
I mean does it turn the screen on too, so you can snap a picture?

On cloudys g3 rom been playing with settings and tweaks past few days and now I've found prefect balance of battery vs performance no bugs or complaints couple sods but kernel related and now fixed and other minor bugs I can work around till fixed great daily driver love the ui and phone is super snappy

my eyes hurt... ever heard of punctuation?
i think lg did a good job with g3 stock but apart from the interface which looks more flat, you don't get too much over stock g2.

whats the difference between cloudy stock, g pro 2 and flex?
i know flex has a darker theme, but bar that. is there any features that make you want one over or the other or all mainly the same?

Basically:
CloudyStock = Optimized LG Stock ROM (Plain vanilla and optimized LG Rom)
Cloudy G Pro2 = Optimized G Pro 2 ROM (some stock apps and functions not present on other LG roms)
Cloudy Flex = Optimized LG Flex ROM (It has a dark interface due to the fact that the Flex has an AMOLED screen which benefits from a dark UI). * my favourite ROM *
Theres actually a third installment called Cloudy G3 which is basically an LG G3 ROM port.

when you say optimized lg rom, what do you mean? does stock perform best? and also, i knew about G3 but the difference are plain obvious haha! im baffled about the difference between g pro 2,stock and flex. what features has g pro 2 got over stock? i tried searching and i find nothing, ive installed it and found nothing bar a new wallpaper? thanks for the reply by the way!

LG stock roms are awesome in general, but there's always room for improvement, starting from the de-bloating of carrier specific stuff and other optimizations throughout.
Quite honestly I recommend you to flash them all and try them for yourself. I don't recall the specific differences, but I did try them all, including CloudyG3, and found CloudyFlex the best of them.

i cant do it, my head will hurt too much haha! im on G3 rom but im more than sure performance has dropped since stock. could be wrong buttt! ill stick with this rom until i get bored and ill try flex/gpro2.

Hello! New to the LG G2 (801 version). I'm a noob and been reading all about the different ROMs, but it's getting overwhelming. I just want something simple...

WIFI working
GPS working
possibly Knock code (but not 100% necessary)
I can adjust to anything else. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to figure out the differences between CloudyFa's releases. Practical day to day differences? Bug differences? CloudyG3 vs Cloudyflex vs Cloudystock?

CloudyG3 is a G3 Port with extra features.
CloudyFlex is a G Flex Port with extra features.
CloudyStock is based on Stock Android with extra features.
You'll notice that CloudyG3, CloudyFlex and CloudyStock are all STABLE releases and provide all of your prerequisites.
My recommendation? Try them all.. use one ROM each week for 3 weeks and decide which one you liked the most, or which ROM caused you the least amount of trouble. Just because you don't know a lot about ROMs in general doesn't mean you should just stick your hand up and be told what to do to your phone. Experiment with different ROMs and find what YOU are happy with.
