yep thats right, on 1Q of 2011. im really happy with the phone

Hopefully they do release 2.2 on this phone but keep in mind Motorola is really bad with providing software updates to their phones even if they give a specific time frame. Many of their handsets have been promised updates and still have not received them.

Yeah, HTC was about 5 months late on the 2.1 upgrade for the hero

And now it's January 2010, didn't hear any news from Motorola... yet.

Sadly i'm not feeling a froyo vibe for at least for quite a while, despite what I would hope for

This phone have another updates but with eclair? wich is the most actually software? this phone can install froyo with other forms? this phone NEVER taste froyo? or can install flash player and app2sd in eclair and work ok?
PD: My phone have a "blur_Version.1.19.2.MB511.Retail.en IT" and i'm live in Spain, have an other updates?

ins't there anyway to subscribe at motorola to make them develop a 2.2 or even 2.3 upgrade for flipout? we can make a petition and let everyone sign!

Petitioning Cyanogen team would be 100 times more efficient, but I'm afraid Flipout is not widespread enough to interest devs, the work most probably won't pay off.

Opps, there is much more weighty reason than low install base, it turned out that all Motorola phones except the original Droid have a locked bootloader, so even if somebody would maker a custom ROM, it would be impossible to load it.

yeah, I agree... htc devices are more common and that's why cyanogen is working on them... is there a minimum number to reach to let them know about us? I mean, I'm still a touchpro2 user, but there's no other device I want but motorola flipout and it'd be much better to have some new software upgrades...

I've just got my very first smartphone (a Flipout) and think it's great. I'm now trying to figure out what the best operating to use is. When searching for 2.2 information, I came across this great thread, but have also found a page which seems to suggest that 2.2 is possible, and wondered what anyone thought...
As I'm not allowed to post links yet, Google for upgradeupdate-motorola-flipout-motoblur_7560 and it's the top hit (venusvenera).
Assuming the above is a load of rubbish, would anyone be kind enough to give me a link to the best UK version of 2.1 to use without Motoblur, as there seems to be some confusing in the 'Full Orange Debranding Guide Very easy' thread, or at least I'm confused.

Professionals should try to phone a friend wildfire htccn chs2.10.1400.3 foryo 2.2 the root should have about 2 months now that I'm looking for this program and no one has been able to implement it

Using r1-buzz-root program that works adb
And a test file and transferred to the phone after installing the update file is root Phones

Or file transfer recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-buzz and its conversion to update.zip file after turning off the phone and then went to bootloder part of recovery but this was not the answer
And several other solutions that unfortunately none of them led to my phone not being root

How many times must people ask this? There is still currently no way to root the chinese froyo you just simply have to wait for unrevoked to release a new version. I'm just wondering why you guys upgraded to this without reading and searching first

i'll just say this again, NO YOU CANNOT ROOT IT YET. big deal it's been 2 months, maybe they haven't updated it yet because 1. they're still working on it, or 2. because they don't have enough time. 3. learn to be paitient, ppl like you annoy me so badly.

No working. I did try. Installed, showing completed, automatically reboot, but nothing happend

sort of working, gives root but not recovery option. root explorer can use r/w option

en rootexplorer entrar y dar r/w en los archivos no se en cual seguro que lo hecho sin saber que functiona pero bueno.luego copiar pc49img en la raiz de la tarjeta de memoria (tarjeta sera de oro) rebot in hboot mode y a mi a functionado

Rooting HTC Hero GSM 2.1-update-1 (3.41.61.31)

Hi lads,
So I've been trying to root my HTC (Hero GSM 2.1-update-1 (3.41.61.31), originally Orange Spain, but unlocked by code) for few hours now, haven't managed yet. All the articles I've found about rooting this phone seems to be quite old and none seem to be more recent than the latest OTA update they've sent.
Even the latest version of Androot (1.6.2 beta 5) doesn't seem to work; I keep getting a Failed ! No ~~~ Fu goo ~~~ seemingly clueless error.
Found some more hardcore ways to do it, but then again, all of them quite old and no one confirming if for the current version - I don't want to end up with an expensive paperweight
I want to root it in order to install the latest Froyo ROM (Oh, and if anyone have serious reason for opposing to the villainrom 1.7, I'd appreciate a headsup)
Please, could anyone refer me to the definite how-to-root-this-thing?

Are you from Spain? I am and I spent all night trying to root or upgrade to some kind of distro, but there was no luck...
I had the same firmware and update as you, and... at the end I'll get it! :]
The thing was just go to htc page to download the "latest" drivers for your HTC Hero Orange (important to be orange cuz if not it won't be able to download -also it would ask for a serial number, just write it on-).
What you downloaded now is just to downgrade your cellphone and override all newer updates... Then your phone will be back in time to 1.5 (dino-droids!)
Yeeeey! I did a big party after that ¬¬
Well... then all you have to do is follow the steps for a common htchero unlock... you can apply androot, and put some roms and that...
En mi caso, me ha quedado un Hiro! de la ostia! :] va sobradamente más rápido que antes.

Could you give me a bit more detail how did u downgrade the phone. where and how did u install the drivers?? I did not find the orange drivers in the htc site.

My sgs2 drops 3g - hsdpa connection randomly

Hi , im suffering one big problem... My phone suddenly disconnects from the 3g or hsdpa signal at the point that Im not able to receive or make phone calls , to resolve that I need to go to airplane mode or wait 2 -3 minutes . Its not an operator problem becuase I had the exact same settings (apn) with my captivate and I never faced that.
Ive tried many roms , many modems , and even disable Fast dormancy without no luck.
So , is anyone suffering the same problem? , is there any way to fix it!

Because everyone that's posting is from the far corners of the world, there's no stock answer to radio issues. Some of the problems have been carrier specific and even down to a certain city on that carrier.
1) The phone's designed to drop from "H" to "3G" when data's not in use to save battery. When working properly it picks back up immediately when needed.
2) By default, "fast dormancy" is enabled on the phone. It too is to save battery and works well on carriers that support it. Not so well on carriers that don't.
Dig around on the forum and you'll find tons of discussion on every flavor of radio issue.

I was able to get rid of that problem by wiping data/restoring stock settings and then NOT installing any configs from the configuration messages my operator sent me.
Ain't had any problems since. 3G/H+ working perfectly.

Ive tried many methods , many roms , many modems , tweaks... And had NO luck ... I just can say its not a network issue , or a software , I think its the phone itself because my old cappy always worked great!
Im going to exchange it! , thats seems to be the only solution...

That is fine, if you want it that way. But it should be an option -- I want to turn it off as it thoroughly ruins my browsing experience, but there seems to be no way of doing so. Which is annoying to say the least.

Lo que hice fue disable el FAst Dormancy.
Parece estar sirviendo. Igual con el ICE, no se puede hacer mucho que digamos...
Donde va a cambiar su cel? Donde lo compro que puede cambiarlo?

Hi, I´m also from Costa Rica, i had this exact same problem, signal would just drop, could not see the phone network, i thought i had a bad phone, then I disabled fast dormancy and disabled HSPA, so that only the 3G logo stayed when using mobile data. In Costa Rica the 3g speed´s are low so disabling HSPA was no problem for me. I have no problems anymore with the signal dropping.
To Disable HSPA
Go to the phone dialer pad and enter this code: *#301279#
Click [2] CHANGE HSPA REVISION
Click [1] RELEASE 99 (HSPA OFF)
I´m on stock KE2, not rooted yet

You press 2 first ....then it takes you to another menu, then press option 1

jaja q nivel varios ticos de la nada xDD , maes no al chile ya trate de todo y nada! , eso de deshabilitar el hspa desde el menu no me "funco" , ya probe varios metodos y nada , incluso cambie mi sim por uno nuevo y hasta me compre un chip prepago tuyo para probar.. pero nada!! , yo el mio lo compre x Expansys , creo q manana lo voy a devolver xq di nada q ver la vara...
Ok , Tomorrow I will send my sgs2 to repair.. Im hoping to get a fully functional phone again , btw I think there are just only few phones suffering this right? , I guess its not a problem in all the sgs2 phone over all the world xD

MAE!!!! al parecer la red del ice con el internet esta fallando!!!! Yo hoy en la tarde fui a dejar mi cel para enviarlo a estados!! , pero otros amigos y mi novia q tienen android dicen q se les va el internet!!! , no se que hacer!! al parecer si es un problema de red xq estoy usando mi captivate de nuevo y tambien le pasa lo mismo!!! pele el ojo..

Some people just don't realise it.

well.. its a very annoying problem ... hopefully mine is related with my network provider.. I will test on monday..!

Those are good news for us the "Ticos" since it means there are no faulty phones. Just a crappy network.

Well you can just flash any stock or custom ROM.

Yes but there are two reasons for the complaint, they promised to upgrade the first and second does not exist with with PT-BR.

Aah Samsung Customer Support guys are a bunch of losers who don t even know "A" of android. So don t listen to them. Maybe they will release it sometime in the future.
In the meantime there are very good stock and custom ROMs available here in XDA. Just use them.

I'm from Brazil and I'm using in my Froyo Galaxy 3.
Preferred not to risk any custom ROM so I'm using xxjp4 xxjpq on my phone.
This is a very estable ROM and a little more fast.

flash any custom or official rom from xda, official update is just a hoax, why wait for samsung and kies when you can do it by yourself, and there is a lower chance of bricking your phone. kies is more likely to f*uck up than you...

The problem is:.....
Any rom, hasn´t language PT-BR, and my GPS be crazy, same use gps opt gps fix gps aid.
but the really problem is real don´t have PT-BR, so the maps speak english when i use navigator, and, in Brasil the 3º world, we speak PORTUGUESE.
i hope you understand me.... and escuse my english, cause google tradutor not open now......

will it work I get a 2.2 rom and change the any useCSC and put CSC operator of my country because it seems that the CSC is the original configuration of the local unit and not the system he works, what do you think?

I don't know, maybe someone with more knowlege can answer this... but most of the stuff from 2.1 doesn't work in 2.2
EDIT: I have cyanogenmod7 on my phone, it is 2.3.4 gingerbread, it does have PT-BR in languages (and lots of others), BUT its still in early stages of development so stuff like sensors, camera and video playback don't work YET. It's actually quite usable, i've been using it for a few weeks now and i'm stunned by how fast it is even after installing lots of apps.
