[Q] The new Update - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone found a good reason to do the new update. I tried unrooting and erasing everything on my phone through a factory restore and still couldn't get everything to let me update. I gave up.

Re-root, unlock the boot loader, then use the guide in the general section to update to .15.

OTA Update issues

So I have Unrevoked3, and want to update OTA, I don't need root anymore.
However, when I update it goes to start the update, then I get a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and an android, it just sits there til I pull the battery.
I want to be sure this is just an issue with needing to unroot, and not something else.
If its just an unrooting issue, how do I unroot from Unrevoked3? All the unrooting topics I've found were for toast or simpleroot.

Btw, the RA is Clockwork recovery.

Pretty sure all you need to do is put the update on your SD card, flash it, and then you're done. You'll lose root, but it should work that way. YMMV and all that.
I'll try it when I get home, hopefully it'll work.

any word? I too am having the yellow triangle displayed on my screen when trying to install the OTA after doing Unrevoked 3
Nevermind, Im downloading now.
Im also downloading the 1.47 RUU incase I need to start from scratch, which Ive heard works with revoke.. Im just not sure how to reflash the stock recovery image and get rid of Clockwork Mod and Unrevoked.
I ran flash sdcard:update.zip and so far its updating with no issues, will wait for boot up to see if it took.
I think using the ruu is the only way to reset the recovery, anyway thats what I did and d/ling the OTA now.
Worked fine. Booted up took a bit, but Im used to that with all updates, Im now running Android 2.2
As a side, is the FroYo update supposed to wipe apps/settings? Mine werent.
well mine seemed to work, I didn't care about reseting so my process went like this..
completely stock+unrevoked3 root+clockworkmod
RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_CL195459.exe
OTA d/l and installed over 1.47
ota installed successfully
factory defaulted with 2.2 in place
Im running 2.2, but none of my settings were reset and all my apps are still there.
Does running this : RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_rele ase_CL195459.exe erase all of the phone's previous memory?

update
Yes, my update is a bit messed up, it seems to have removed the USB icon when i try to fast boot, which practically leaves me no option to install CWM, unless someone else can help here.
Theres an issue with the bootloader or sytem encrypting the partitions so root is a no go right now until cwm or twrp are updated because neither can access the partitions at the moment if trying to root. I was about to and did some reading took the ota but then unlocked my bootloader everything work ok but just stuck with the unlocked bootloader won't attempt to go any further with the issues I've seen so far.

Unrooting question... Sort of

Ok so my SGH-I337 S4 is rooted using Motochopper and is still stock ROM, just rooted. I did it so I could make Google Wallet work on AT&T, which was successful. Now AT&T has an OTA update that I want. So I will have to unroot. I already have the stock ROM download that I can flash via Odin to unroot. But what will happen to the apps I have installed that require root, like Titanium Backup, ROM manager, etc. Will they automatically be removed or just stop working? Also, has anyone had any experience with the Universal Unroot app? That would sure be easier. But my main question remains: what does Unrooting do to apps that are installed that require root privileges?

When you user Odin you'll have to do a factory reset or you'll get into a boot loop. So by by apps. Your tibu backup file will still be there, but just in case copy it to your pc before hand. The apps that require root will not work until you re-root.
Hi highly recommend you don't get the ota. Even though it's root able it's very dangerous to do so.
What I will say, if you want the update is to go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43963746 and you will have the benefit of the OTA and not lose the root and custom recovery, and all the app will work! You will not upgrade the bootloader. Once you updated the bootloader is not coming back!

I don't understand why you get a boot loop. I once soft bricked a phone and used Odin to flash a md5.tar of a stock ROM. The phone rebooted and I saw my wallpaper and all my apps and data intact. I have seen threads on Unrooting that describe using Odin that way. They all said that doing a factory reset afterword is if you want to delete all your apps and data like if you sell your phone or just want it as it was out of the box

thats interesting. were you on stock when you soft bricked it?
many, many...many users commonly have to wipe data/factory reset after flashing stock via odin. sometimes they can get away with just a cache wipe. not often, though.
I had used (can't remember his name) Galaxy S3 Toolkit to root the phone. Interestingly, Root Checker said I was rooted, but Titanium Backup wouldn't install... It said I needed root access... Hmmm.... Later when I went to unroot using the same S3 Toolkit, I did something wrong. The phone would boot but stick at tiny little letters in the upper left of the screen that I *think* said recover. I messaged the developer of the Toolkit and he sent me a link to download the original AT&T stock ROM. He told me how to use Odin and check the PDA box. I did it and it fixed my phone.

thats why i asked if you were still on stock when you used odin. most users are not, which is ultimately what requires them to factory reset in recovery.
I wonder if universal unroot is trustworthy
Sent from my SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 4
All that would happen to your rooted apps is they wouldn't have root privileges anymore, which means they ultimately won't work as expected. I would recommend uninstalling them before you update. You may also be able to do a full unroot via SuperSU or one of the other superuser apps.
NOTE: Your phone may not update even after unrooting. You may have to do a factory reset first. I don't know why, I'm not a developer. I'm just speaking out of my own experience from the past.

[Q] Stuck on AT&T logo

Hi,
I am stuck on AT&T logo on my Galaxy S4. I had previously installed safetrap recovery and a ROM on it, but I am always using Stock ROM. I forgot about safetrap last night when I had to encrypt and use my device for work related stuffs. So, I factory reset my phone, I encrypt the device and after that I am stuck on AT&T logo. Safetrap still shows up during booting but I can't create any ROM slot, I believe it is because of encryption. Can someone please help me?
Your not on MF3, are you...
How long do you wait on the att screen? If you factory reset it. Sometimes it takes a long time on the att logo and it should boot up back to factory. But if it deleted important files you'll have to take it to best buy to get it fixed or run the new mj6 via odin but safestrap will be on it until you manually remove it via adb or terminal emulator.

Thanks for trying to help. I was planning to go to best buy but I tried clearing cache from stock recovery and somehow I got out of bootloop . Thanks.

Sprint system update. I'm rooted and stock. What to do?

So I have a System Update waiting. I'm rooted and stock rom. I have titanium backup and froze various apps. I have stock recovery.
I will lose root by installing this right? Will all my apps be defrosted with this update? Should I defrost them myself before updating?
Anything else I should do before taking this update? A little nervous about it.
Thanks

I asked the same thing here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567071
I unrooted and tried to take the OTA, it seemed to start flashing but then rebooted and I'm still on ZV7

So confusing. I can't get a solid answer.
I'm even considering flashing the radio/modem to the newest one. But I'd need to install a recovery.

If your stock and just rooted you can flash the ota if you don't have a custom recovery...or if you do have a custom recovery you can flash a stock ROM in Sprint development that has root and ota update included....also comes in odex or deodex...
So I just accepted the OTA. Everything went smoothly. Lost root but quickly rooted again. I'm a happy camper.

I have TWRP on a stock rooted and received that update this morning, it rebooted into recovery and did nothing, and since then I'm stuck in recovery. Nothing works, flashing, recovering, every reboot sends me back into recovery.
