Hi
I own a Moga controller and would like to stream games to my TV.
i wondered if this Slimport is any good with providing smooth frame rates and good latency.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Slimport-My...Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item51b69ba38b
if not can you recommend another one?
i saw on the internet that few people bought Slimport adapters for 10-15$ and said they were working great but unfortunately they haven't provided any links
thanks for you kind answers

Hey guys,
I'm working on a project in work that will require good quality video of an Android phone. I've looked at a few apps that can record your screen and output a video, but none of them give me the framerate or quality I'm looking for.
The solution I'm looking at now is using MHL to output the phone's display to HDMI, and using an HDMI capture card to record the signal. I know I can display the Galaxy Nexus' screen on a 720p television (as per the video here -> (YOUTUBE)/watch?v=ENdJv_AI5vU, sorry can't post links) but I'm concerned about HDCP. The wikipedia article for MHL states that a feature of it is:
Supports High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP).
I'm not sure if that means all MHL signs are encrypted, or that it should be able to support HDCP on request.
Does anyone have experience with recording HDMI/MHL recording, or recording a phone's display to video in general? Any help or advice is much appreciated.

I've struggled with this in my test lab at work. I have not yet found a solution that works reliably with MHL or even HDMI when the phone has it. I tried one from Diamond Multimedia without luck. I use the Elgato Game Capture HD but so far it only works with my ASUS Transformer TF300T and Motorola Xoom, both with HDMI output. I've got several MHL adapters, both the standard 5-pin and the Samsung-style 11-pin ones and the SlimPort for the Nexus 4. I've tried it with many devices:
Samsung Galaxy S II/III/IV, Vizio VTAB1008, Sony Xperia S, Nexus 4, Droid DNA, HTC One X and many others. Only the Transformer TF300T and Xoom work.
According to Elgato there are no known MHL devices that work, though they only tried a few. I can't yet post links but just Google this:
Code:
"game capture HD" MHL
and choose the first link to Elgato's site.
Elgato is certainly the way to go, just wish it was less expensive.
what u are looking for it is more a software solution.
u need something like tv support app and teamviewer. and u need a fhd display. and a record software on your pc which can record in fhd.
use tv support and teamviewer at the same time and overlay the screen of your smartphone and screen of your pc.
dont know if the cpu and ram of the phone powerfull enough to let the video stream fluently. maybe with the note3 or lg g2 or sony z1.
i already tested it with the note1 but it is almost a year ago and i dont own it anymore. my nexus7 2013 is broken right now. so i cant test it anymore. have to wait till 3 weeksto get the n7 back.
cheers
Since the Ouya only has Ethernet, AC, USB and HDMI. Will it be possible to connect to a standard TV by RCA connector or by a scart?AV? VGA? Composite?
Hi, so far the Ouya isn't known to produce analog video signals, only digital (via the HDMI out) thus, to use it with a analog tv you would either need a video amplifier (with HDMI in and AV-Out) or a signal convertor.
If you currently don't have one of those then I would suggest buying a HD-TV as the two methods I advised you of would cost at least $100 anyway.
I'm assume you mean composite or component, and RCA stereo audio output. If so, Ouya has only stated HDMI.
As the above said, you would need an digital to analog converter. An amplifier wouldn't help you in this situation. Unfortunately, you'll spend more on the converter than you would the Ouya. Well, maybe you can find an old used FuryHD for $100 to handle video. There are other issues you have to take into account such as will the converter tweak the signal to make sure your TV will accept it is a big one.
I had to go that route when I setup a home theater PC, and my HDTV predated DVI; it only had component HD input, but the HTPC had display port. I got an HDFury2, which just came out, and ran about $250 at the time. That was cheaper than buying a new good quality 55" HDTV.
Hopefully that was helpful.
Thanks for the information guys, look like I will just pick up a cheap Hd TV.

you have a lot choices depending on the size you want.
What's the pros and cons between both of them from someone who has actual experience with them both?

The Wireless Dongle is good if you have movies converted on your phone already. It's also somewhat good for you tube videos. However if you try and stream a movie from a streaming application such as Netflix, HBO GO, or MAX GO you might see some lip-syncing. IF you use the MHL adapter everything runs and syncs smoothly for streaming. I watched the entire Game of Thrones seasons and True Blood on the MHL adapter.
Somebody saw this: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-gamestream-a-whole-new-way-to-game
Looks incredible. Console mode allows to put shield next to the TV and let stream from the PC - in 1080p with 60FPS.
God, that is so freaking awesome. Best buy ever. :victory:
sadly that's nothing you can't do with a long HDMI cable and steam big picture
at least is nice they are removing the beta of the streaming

Currently HDMI output only works at 720p at 30 fps AFAIK. This states 1080p at 60 fps with the update, that's something I've been looking forward to.
This, with a wireless xbox 360 controller.... I won't have to lug my tower across the house anymore when I want to game on the couch, or deal with low res and a long HDMI cable.

Awesome update. They mention official support of the bluetooth niko gamepad and also playing with the lid closed. If the support is open for other gamepads (it should be) this is big news for future of the shield as a serious console, handheld or TV connected.
I'm really happy to own this little toy. Long life to the shield!
And the console mode give us real 1080p output outside of movie playback. So we can play all Android games in 1080p or use Shield as small PC with 1080p output.
Damn, the future for this kind of devices looks very bright now.

Yes, many other game controllers work as well (They must support standard Bluetooth HID if they're bluetooth).
This is great news as I already have a moga pro, looks like I will be playing a lot of my PC games in the living room....wife's going to hate me haha.

Awesome, was the D-PAD buttons issue during PC Streaming resolved?
And what about PS3 and XBOX controller? Android has native support of both when connected with usb cable. But both have the D-PAD issue.
The PS3 controller can be used as HID bluetooth but root is needed with the sixaxis control app.
Thanks for telling us.
The two Player deal breakers for me are (1) no gigabit wired support and more importantly (2) no Amazon Instant Video support. Is it true that there will be no simple way to watch Amazon Instant Video on the Player? If true, the Fire TV is the overwhelming winner.
If it runs android, Amazon has a new instant video app, which should be able to be sideloaded.
What do you need gigabit wired ethernet for? What are you watching that takes more than 100Mbps?
Oh, thanks for giving me a better understanding between these! At the moment I have google chrome cast xD

For my NAS drive that provides all my DLNA needs, I've got some beefy files on there with very high bitrates. That said, they play plenty smooth over my Wireless AC or N network. The problem I run into is FF and RW. The rebuffering's a little ridiculous. But, I also have my house wired with gigabit switches and networked in all my rooms. The seeking options are no longer a problem for me on the ADT-1. Not a true 1:1 experience to the Nexus Player, but I'd be willing to bet it's pretty darn close.
